  1. Having a Caesarean in the late 60’s was very much as portrayed here. The nurses treated you as a surgical patient, discouraged breast-feeding and often kept the baby away from mom for the first 24 hrs. at least. I suppose it was just how it was done but it wasn’t good. Thankfully, it changed in the next decade and today is completely different. I’m still impressed that CTM is pretty accurate about this historical medical stuff. They rolled it into the gestational diabetes storyline but it was fairly standard for all C-sections at the time
  2. This ☝ Singing the original (DP) is actually harder. More textured and nuanced. With all due respect to Whitney’s considerable talent, her version was the one that made me cringe while my ears bled. However, it made Dolly a lot of $$$$ so there’s that. I’m sticking with Girl Named Tom for now but I hate “Creep” & generally leave the room when I hear it coming. Their harmonies were amazing though. Hailey Rae, I couldn’t understand a word of your song. Enunciate.
  3. Wichita Lineman was gorgeous. That’s it.
  4. Do they really expect us to believe Mer will leave a hospital named after her and where she is actually worshipped? Sure. I do like the Winston character apart from Maggie so he can stay. Teddy is a horrible person. If Owen wants that, we’ll, it’s on him. I’ll join the others who would run away screaming if Schmitt showed up to do my surgery. I might have other thoughts but they’ll have to wait till I’m over the headache caused by the giant anvil that fell on my head.
  5. Chicago Med has improved hugely this season. I keep waiting to hate it again and it hasn’t happened so fingers crossed. The new doctors are both likable-so far so good. Natalie who? April who? I always liked Choi so maybe when he returns he’ll be less annoying with April gone. I liked the “glass child” storyline as it seems like something that needs to be addressed. I don’t mind Vanessa apart from the relationship with Maggie so we’ll see how this one goes. Still don’t like the Halstead character and couldn’t care less about the boring Vas-Com thing but he’s a wee bit more tolerable with Natalie gone, I guess. Still annoying though.
  6. Yes! I so identified with Shaun’s discomfort with the scrubs. I have to be extremely cautious with fabric & wear a lot of 100% cotton. Same problem as you and nothing to do with ASD. Good for him standing up for himself and Lea, he doesn’t need you helping. He does fine on his own. The nonsense with two residents involving prayer annoyed me no end so good for Lim putting a stop to it. She wasn’t forcing him to pray against his will so he had no business demeaning her beliefs. Thankfully the singing at the end made it all ok. Loved that. (Great voices, btw.) HIPAA has become pretty meaningless in 2021 so it hardly seems to matter in the context of the closing scene-as awful as it was.
  7. The Blake/Kelly nonsense is getting unbearable. STOP IT! It’s not entertaining. It’s not funny. Enough. Other than that, contestant-wise it wasn’t bad but we’ll see how it goes. For me, the jury is out on Grande, but she seemed fine, at least at this point.
  8. Still a ridiculous show but I really like the new doctors. No April...no Natalie...huge plus! I could do without the Maggie & her daughter stuff but we’ll see how it goes.
  9. Thank you, Rootbeer, for clarifying the Carter/ med student thing. Very helpful and exactly what I wanted to understand. I just rewatched “Love’s Labors Lost” & it still makes me squirm, but I still contend that ER is miles, maybe eons ahead of any medical drama produced today-even with all its mistakes. At least it didn’t thoroughly beclown itself it like Chicago Med & Grey’s Anatomy do regularly.
  10. In season one, Carter is introduced as a 3rd year medical student. My understanding is that at the end of 4-year medical school (post-bachelors degree), the med student earns the title of “Doctor of Medicine.” Yet as a 3rd year student Carter is referred to in the ER as “doctor” and even as a “resident” at times. He also seems to be in the ER every day, thus never attending classes at whatever University he’s associated with. I just watched an episode where this 3rd year student is allowed to intubate a patient. Am I confused on this or is the show the thing that’s confusing me? I’m re-watching season one and this seriously bugs me.
  11. Well, being the contrarian that I am, I rather enjoyed this season. It was nice to get back to regular people as I didn’t particularly enjoy the all-star season except for the fact that Emilia won. While I was hoping for a Kishwar win, I’m actually pretty…ahem…stoked that Justin pulled it off and based on that last cook, he deserved it. I was never annoyed by the bromance because I basically ignored it. Good luck to all of them because they seem like nice people. I thought the judges were great this season and I can truthfully say that I never, for one moment, missed those other three guys whose names I can barely remember. Well, until next year, it’s been nice reading all the comments here and I’m continually grateful that Australia produces this show because here in the US, our version of MC is an abomination. Congratulations, Justin, now get out there & help your lovely fiancé plan that wedding.🤣🤣
  12. Loved this 2-part finale & can’t come up with anything negative to say about it. Refreshing change of location, heart-wrenching cases, doing good work under difficult conditions and generally happy outcomes. For me, this series handled COVID & aftermath better than any other medical show this season. It also continues to be the best of the lot in fact, there’s no comparison as most of the others have become silly parodies (looking at you, Grey’s & Med). I truly hope the standards stay as high as they have been. Adding the dishy doctor next season will be a real plus. Well done, everyone associated with this show.
  13. There’s probably something I don’t know so forgive my ignorance but how does Richard officiate at a wedding? Are doctors like ship captains now? Is he ordained? Was he a judge at some point? Did he send for a mail-order license or something? Or is this just another example of rampant Grey’s bull crap?
  14. Oh, I totally agree. He made everyone loathe him then won. It was hilarious.
  15. I liked this episode but it certainly required a box of Kleenex. The change in location, the compassion, the people, the medical needs was a much needed change from the usual medical show dreck. Case in point... Young Girl: “I watched ‘Grey’s Anatomy” Claire: “Well, being a surgeon is not much like that.” BEST. LINE. EVER.
  16. Well, I finished it but it was pretty hard to watch. The odd leap in time in order to ignore COVID was understandable, but jarring. Then constant references to the little girls but never seeing them (except in one episode) was strange. Boyd was retconned into oblivion-even in the last episode where Vanessa said “Kristen dated Ryan then she dated Kyle.” DATED???? They had a kid together-that’s pretty significant! The Jen character was completely unnecessary and not helped by the annoying overacting. But the loss of original Mandy was a death blow they never recovered from. I loved the show but it should have ended when ABC cancelled it. I’m a huge fan of Tim Allen and they did the best with what they had but it went too long and the last season limped over the finish line. Barely.
  17. No. No. No. I cannot take another season of Ronald & Psycho Scarlet. Can’t. Won’t. I wanted to like this show but it’s ridiculous and I don’t mean entertaining ridiculous. It’s cringy ridiculous.
  18. No one is comfortable in a bridesmaid dress. We all survived. Tess needed to be told that, Beth. Accommodating her hissy fit was ridiculous.
  19. Are the judges screeching even louder this season? Seriously, it’s driving me nuts. “THIRTY MINUTES TO GOOOOOOOOO!!” Just stop. That Andy Allen video was hilarious. I like the guy. I liked him on his season & I’m ok with him as a judge. It’s also rich that his wardrobe is criticized after the bizarre sartorial splendor of Matt. Andy wears odd shirts and occasionally looks like Popeye but who cares. And if his judging comments are weak, again who cares? Is the food good or isn’t it? Leave the technical stuff to Jock. Besides, Andy’s season 4 win was a heck of a lot more deserving than Emma Dean. But stop SCREAMING!!!
  20. Ok, I only watch this show for two reasons. First, I have a thing about finishing what I start. Second, it’s kind of like a trainwreck you can’t walk away from. So, thoughts... As a former sufferer of anxiety attacks and therapy, I have the utmost sympathy for mental issues of all kinds so I mean no disrespect but this show forces me to say some things that might sound harsh so I apologize. First of all, just about everyone associated with this ER is completely batpoop crazy. Dr. Charles is an exception but he’s involved in a situation where the doctors are crazier and more irresponsible than the patients. Goodwin is also an exception but she almost seems too nice to bring down the hammer on these wingnuts when it’s needed. Choi used to be a light in the darkness that is Chicago Med but his involvement with St. April has led to the absence of any backbone altogether. It’s sad. Poor Dr. Marcel-he seems to have no clue about the level of doctoral insanity he’s involved in. Plus, having been drawn into the Natalie web of nuttiness, his future judgment might be in question. Spoilers lead me to believe he might make it out safely. I have no patience with April’s hypocrisy. Climbing on her high horse over Dr. Archer was a massive eye roll moment, yet predictable. One of the most annoying characters I can ever remember. Right up there with Gabby Dawson. I don’t think April is as insane as some others. She’s just insufferable. Natalie and Will. What a horror show. I thought it was awful back when Meredith casually wrecked Derek’s drug trial on Grey’s but at least he had the wits to go nuts about it and actually act like she’d done something wrong. Will is pathetic. Natalie is a toxic wacko. And they are both completely crazy. So the previously sane Maggie helps her bio-daughter get a potential gig in her ER then prods her to do a procedure she has to know is illegal. Ok. Lawsuit, anyone? Goodwin just says, “I’ll look into this.” WHAT? Then there’s Choi who casually walked away to attend a meeting, leaving a STUDENT doctor to perform a procedure which should be supervised by a, you know, real doctor. But then again, as most every doctor in this ER is nuts, it really didn’t make all that much difference. Ethan’s mentor, Dr. Archer, is an obviously disturbed and reckless victim of PTSD. He’s desperately in need of help, which he refuses, and is still allowed to practice medicine in an ER, potentially endangering all future patients. If Choi ever figures out Archer snowed a patient he’ll probably cover it up like good old Will covered up for Nat. And to think, the poor guy used to be Brian Hackett. The only sane storyline in this episode was Marcel and the baby with the gunshot wound. So sad and tragic and a real problem in our world. But that story was given short shrift in favor of...the crazy. There’s so much more but it’s safe to say that Chicago Med is the hospital at the doorway of Hell. Enter at your own risk. May the Lord help us all if we’re ever in the hands of doctors like this band of losers. Seriously, do the writers of this crap actually believe this is good TV or are they just laughing at us??
  21. So, in Chicago Med world nurses are encouraged to make a diagnosis, right? Or is it only allowed if it’s Saint April? It’s so confusing. Natalie is awful. Halstead is awful. They are both really, really awful.
  22. Amelia: “Why’d you bring Zola? Maggie: “I couldn’t think of a better idea.” Maggie, you didn’t think of it. Winston did. You were dead against it. Even in the same episode they can’t keep their stories straight. Hey, Meredith, we’re all tired. Move on, show, for the love, move on.
  23. In Grey’s Anatomy World, we are in the 14th year of COVID. And apparently people age in the afterlife. A lot. Seriously I must have rolled my eyes a thousand times during this episode and fast-forwarded through all the beach scenes. It’s becoming a chore to watch but I have this thing about finishing what I start. At this point, Chicago Med is becoming more tolerable and that’s a horrifying thought.
  24. I’ve only seen episode one of season 3, because I’m trying to keep myself from going too quickly. Michael Aloni outdid himself. The scene at the exhibition made me run for the Kleenex. Just watching him portray such intense pain with nothing but his face was astonishing. TV and movies never make me cry but this got me to my soul. Wonderful, wonderful series.
