  1. http://nypost.com/2016/05/22/biggest-loser-fed-us-illicit-drugs-to-lose-weight-ex-contestants/ It just gets worse. These aren't the same contestants we have heard from before? Some of this is new. What gets me even more upset is how much the show has made off the people at home with the biggest loser products. The worst of which was the extremely expensive biggest loser resorts. They opened one where I live and it was the biggest scam. It was conditions close to what people describe in this article, cinder block walls, a cot and bare minimum living conditions in the heat of the desert. The staff wasn't anything special, I don't think many if any had any sort of degree of certificate in any sort of related field, nutrition , sports medicine etc. The prices were crazy, I saw people taking leaves from work which was hardship and paying over 10k to come for a month. It was all for the biggest loser brand because right across the way was a real weight loss spa that many celebrities have visited and it cost less, yet people flocked to the biggest loser brand. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of the show and franchise. It is too bad because having a show that is inspirational that people lose weight would always have a draw, but it has do be done realistically.
  2. I also agree we are seeing the same show topics over and over but how much is TLC and how much is Duggars? Other TLC family shows have stated that TLC brings up ideas for episodes including ones to be filmed at home and ones that will be "field trips". The families get to have input and choose. Kate talks about bringing up her own ideas for trips and pushing them on TLC. The Rolloffs wanted every free trip they could have. I can see the boring episodes being part on TLC and part on the Duggars. The Duggar's are going to reject many trips and activities. I also think TLC does not have the same budget and Jessa can't bring her whole family with her on a trip or outing or the show will not be Jessa and Jill's. Jessa can say that she can't help if all her siblings wanting to stop by and see the baby but it would be a lot harder to justify taking 5-10 siblings on a trip to Dollywood or Silver Dollar city. I wonder if TLC is holding back trips or more interesting activities because it will show that the Duggars have 11 unemployed , not going to college adult kids. Sister Wives, Kate, and Rolloffs do the bulk of taping during breaks and summer. Viewers can relate to a summer vacation or wedding. Jana building a tree house, Jinger buying a car, or Jessa changing a light fixture is maybe the most they can stretch a storyline without showing these 11 adults are just hanging out all day. During 19 kids TLC tried to edit with a slant of the younger kids working on school with the older kids having a single focus in the background (like courting, midwife, photography, volunteer work). Counting on, showing just the adult kids, shows they are not busy 24/7 with work, schooling or volunteering.
  3. I would guess it would be couples that need the money or are looking for fame. I can see Amy and Danny and Alan and Kirlylam and Josh and Alexardria all doing the show because they would need the money and all show happy success stories for TLC. Plus TLC loves babies. I can see Yamir doing it for more exposure for his music. Jason and Cassia seem to like the spotlight as well as Paola. I just hope they show more content. The show itself had so many couples we only got like 8 minutes a week for each couple and a lot of it was rehashed scenes of controversial moments. I hope TLC shows the green card and work visa process and if any of the spouses found work. As much as I would like to see more of Mo and Dani, I hope TLC paycheck is not the reasoning he is staying married. Plus the footage we got before was heavily edited. I'm sure they are not going to show Mo traveling the country alone and Dani struggling to pay the light bill alone.
  4. As for the corn dogs, my son went through a corn dog phase(he has a rare form of autism and gets stuck wanting one type of food sometimes) and I found the corn dog maker. It is one of those $19.99 gadgets I found at best buy for $9.99 on BF. Since you control the ingredients and their is no deep frying, there can be a healthy corn dog options. I refuse to eat hot dogs but my son thought they were better then the real ones and my daughter is a vegetarian and had cheese or fruit in hers. Of course after the initial hype of something new the machine comes out maybe 4-5 times a year now. I think most of these 600 lb patients on the show are all about easy quick food. The corn dog maker requires you to make batter from scratch and it takes maybe 20 minutes to make a batch for a family. Not quite as easy as buying a box of 20 and popping them in the microwave. As far as the poverty observation, it seems like most of these people live in remote trailers or lacked being part of something with support. As the stories start out and we see the blurred shower scene, I try and guess will the person say they got fat because of a divorce, abuse, or traumatic event. It seems like these people on the show did not have a strong support at those times, whether it be religion, family, or therapy. I live in a suburb that is almost 100% the same religion. When a mom has a baby, the walking crew is at her door within a few weeks and she is part of the stroller walking group every morning. I'm not part of that religion and walk or exercise at night because of the heat and my neighbors came to me because one neighbor had a heart condition and could no longer walk in the heat and was staying inside and had gain about 40 lbs. They were concerned and asked if she could join me. While I have mixed feeling about religion, these women really seem to look out for each other and notice when one is having a struggle and try to get them support. We rarely on the show see these people have a support system outsider their primary "enablers". I realize many are too large to go out to church or activites but there are still ways to be involved if you want. I was bedridden for almost a year and went out of my comfort zone but kept my mind going. I just told people I need to have my feet up and most found a way for me to join. There is no one in my area that teaches painting for kids or certain foreign languages. I would fine if an housebound 600lb person taught foreign language or art classes.
  5. Mo just posted he wants to go back to home country. If this actually happens, is it because he wants to or because of some legal issue because of the divorce?
  6. Thanks. It is crazy how the marriage laws very from state to state. You would think they would film the show in a state that had easy quick divorces. I lived in one of those 1 year wait states and then moved to Utah and was able to get divorced in about 2 weeks(of course we agreed on everything). I remember growing up my mom getting so mad when 2 women were given annulments after 10+ year marriages and having several kids. I guess it used to be very important to get an annulment if your wanted to remarry in the catholic church. I believe the women claimed abuse or addiction issues to get an annulment. I guess it just varies state to state.
  7. Sorry if this has been asked, I tried to read as much as I could, would David and Ashley be able to get an annulment? or even Neil and Sam? I know laws vary from state to state but with the marriages not being consummated and they whole concept of the marriage I would think they would have a good argument for an annulment.
  8. When looking up Dr Now to see if there were any stories outside the show about experiences , I happened to see a document about his wife contesting his divorce. When reading through it the Best care clinic has many employees and services we never see. The 600 lb surgeries are just a small fraction of what is done there. There is certainly nutrition, 24 hour care, testing on site (radiology, blood draws), PT and OT, and other doctors and many PA and NP's. It would be nice if they went back to 2 hour episodes to show the whole team approach of how it really works. Obviously Dr. Now can't do these long surgeries and be able to do all the follow up care. Plus it appears as if the clinic has many other weight loss options for those that have less weight to lose. After reading the divorce, Dr. Now was sure sticking it to his ex wife (of nearly 30 years and several kids). My first husband was a doctor and I understand doctor divorces but Dr. Now seemed cold and was willing to fight for years over small amounts of money.
  9. I saw his posts. He is moving to FL? So basically he can meet a lonely lady online, marry her (who knows if they ever had a physical relationship), travel the USA (NYC, VEGAS Chicago, more vacations then most middle class Americans take in 10 years) , get divorced and move to FL and live here forever.
  10. I'm not sure if Maci was in denial of the pregnancy or was embaressed. I wonder if someone told her they drank during pregnancy and the baby was born fine or she read some article to justify drinking. One of the most shocking things I have seen in my life (and I live in a polygamist area currently and have travelled the world) was when I was living in an upscale community of doctors while my husband was in residency. I was attending a baby shower. Everyone there was either a doctor or a wife of a doctor and a few NP/PA's. Besides the mom the shower was thrown for, there were 3 other pregnant women, and several breastfeeding. Not only was alcohol served at the shower , the pregnant moms drank. The imagine of a pregnant doctor with a wine glass resting on her 8 month pregnant stomach is burned in my brain. The conversation surrounded it was , it is okay to drink, in moderation when pregnant. These were doctors and doctors wives at a respected hospital that were preaching this. These women were not getting drunk but it takes just one women like this for someone like Maci to have her excuse that drinking is okay. This is why reality tv can be so dangerous. We know Dr. Drew will gloss over Maci's drinking and give her a softball interview. Maybe joke about Irish twins but no real message will be sent to the young impressionable viewers on the show. Obviously teen mom has turned in the soap opera of our time. I think we really need some network to bring scripted soap opera back because it is not fair to be watching the kids of these kids on tv.
  11. The last half of the episodes the 3 couples each had an activity to do (obviously preplanned by the producers). David and Ashley did one of those climb up a tree with ropes and balance and trust exercises. Unlike what we have seen on other reality shows, there was no hand holding or even them jumping together. It was very forced and separate. I would have thought it was a brother and sister then married couple. Tres "planned" a romantic get away to a B&B which Vanessa seemed to appreciate. They went horse back riding and Tres had some allergy issues and they left early. He was happy she was taking care of him. While she was being nice, I didn't see the concern I was hoping to see but maybe it was editing. Neil and Sam went fishing. While it seemed like they had a nice time, the usual high fives and jokes, not much had changed. Not sure were you got cut off but there was more talk of the David's text, Neil's I don't miss you, and Tres' not wanting to give up his house lease yet. I watched episode 11 & 12 at the same time so the disagreements and tension blur for episode to episode for me.
  12. I wish Dr. Now had said more about the pain pills causing the ulcer. I would assume it was advil or something like advil not lortab or prescription meds? When Dr. Now said that she had abused pain pills and it caused the surgery, I thought she most have had a complication due to constipation and her hernia but it was an ulcer. I thought prescription pain meds mostly use Tylenol combo because of its safety post surgery with bleeding. I would hate for the show to give the impression Ashley was a pain med addict when she just took too many advil. I guess I was thinking about his because my mom in the last week had a root canal and then needed emergency neurosurgery for a brain tumor. The dr's number one rule was no advil (my mom wanted it for her tooth) because of possible bleeding. They had to explain it to my mom over and over. I still wonder on this show how much is cut out. Do these patients get such little instruction about meds, diet and no counseling till a crisis? Did Ashley really have to wait 2 months till she left the hospital to see a counselor? We have a pretty bare bones hospital but there are still social workers that come and talk to any patients struggling with mental health issues.
  13. I have been watching since I was a kid with my mom. I used to live in NE/NY and I love the diversity in the cases MM sees from a rich CT businessman suing over a boat he bought to someone from Queens suing a neighborhood dry cleaner. I dislike how many court shows are fake these days. I took me forever to convince my mom judge Ross America's court was fake. Is there a list of which shows are fake and which are real. My mom and I are disputing over if judge Faith is real? The only shows that seem real are People's Court, Judge Mathis and Judge Judy.
  14. I wasn't sure where to post this because I didn't want to see any spoilers. I have been watching Days for over 30 years and I actually have from 1983 till November 2015 on a hard drive. Life got crazy the last two months with some health issues. Our NBC station shows Days in the middle of the night, usually 1-3am. We have been try to catch up of Days and found we are missing a few episodes on our DVR due to NBC changing the time. This has happened in the past and I could always find a random episode streaming online.I was surprised to find no episodes anymore on youtube and only the last 5 on hulu. Is there anywhere to find a few December and January episodes? For once since the show is moving so fast , missing 2 days, someone can be gone for good. The episodes I am missing are Dec 10, 14,24,28,30 and Jan 6, and 15th.
  15. Maybe that one missing item from taco Bell was what caused her to be malnourished before the surgery. It is hard to believe that someone that eats that much can be malnourished. I wish June could have used her spunk and energy towards something productive. When she said she could get rid of that walker and did, she had a spark and that spark needs to be used for something else in her life. I hope the therapy can help her find an outlet for her grief. I could see her being a speaker in front of teens about her son's story. Even when you are bedridden you can still find a way to help. There are other things besides food, tv and doing whatever she was doing online. I was bedridden with a heart/vascular issue for almost a year. I didn't gain weight. I found all the programs they had cut in our schools and spent my days preparing lessons and after school teaching the kids from my couch. That one year had amazing results for so many kids, from kids that had IEP's that are now honors students, piles of awards won and years later all but one student has straight A's. I wondered about June constant need for medical care. Was it all in her mind, not sure. After a heart attack , stroke and losing a child, I'm sure she was sacred. Those legs alone would scare me for possible clots. If I had major surgery and was in her shape I would be worried all the time. I wonder if she worried about dying and leaving her living kids without her. I wish we could see more of Dr. Now. I can't imagine her spends only 3 minutes with each patient, talking about enablers, and being harsh. I wonder how much time he spends answers questions and concerns and follow up care and when to worry. It seems like we have seen patients over the years have complications after not understanding what they were supposed to do.
  16. Jillian's show was all over the place. She went from the new beach house to the farm house to all the cars they had. It was kind of like Jillian was blaming all her spending on the girlfriend? I also did not get a love vibe between them or a real sense of a bond with the kids. She said her son and my daughter which signals some issues. Skin tight, ouch! I can't imagine all those staples and the scars. It is trading one problem for another. I also wonder why these people are traveling from LA and NY to TX for surgery. I would be scared to travel on an airplane with those drainage bags. I guess they are getting free or discount surgery. I have EDS and had some trouble with my last C-section being closed. My stomach will never be tight no matter how much I do at the gym, it is nothing like the show maybe an inch of skin. It is not noticeable even in a swimsuit, so only my husband knows. The doctor said I could have surgery but with EDS the complication rate is high so I would never do it. I guess I think of my kids first, vanity vs being there for my kids. I wondered do these people think about their kids? the one lady that got her legs done even though it was risky and then got a big clot (which the pretty strip mall doctors downplayed but Dr. N admitted) , I would have been so scared if I were her and even after that she was having more surgery. She could have died and lost a year of her life recovering.
  17. Is there a forum for Jillian's new E! show. I liked her on BL as far as she brought one type of training method to the show. I'm having a hard time with her new reality show and wondered what everyone was thinking. I couldn't find forums for the new shows Just Jillian or Skin tight or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
  18. My daughter is a HUGE GF fan. She is wearing her plaid (for Alex) and you would think someone has died as she talks about no season 3 or sequel. She wants to have a GF finale party. I have been trying to figure out what time the episode will air since I live in the MTN with a PST cable feed. GF has aired before at 8:30, 9, and 9:30. Living in Utah if the finale airs from 9-10pm, at least half the kids won't be able to come. My DVR won't show the official time till 2/2 and my daughter wants to order custom favors. If anyone knows is the 7pm the same time they normally saw it in their time zone? or is it earlier then the other season 2 episodes came on?
  19. I'm sorry if this has been asked, I tried to read through a few threads, how long have the contestants that have been eliminated been at home when they show them? It seems like they are only losing 20-30lbs at home. Have they only been home a month? When did filming start? I'm liking Bob as the host more then I thought I would. I miss Ali, No Sami or BL now.
  20. Sorry, I meant innocent in the respect that they are 2 young kids in love. They went to the Bible study to find a spouse and get married young and have a large family. The education comment was that from what I can tell several of the faiths that went to the same bible study, do not believe in certain advanced education or limit higher education. Amy seems like a lovely intelligent young women and it would be sad to see her and Danny live off of him working various construction jobs to make ends met due to religion. I know by living it that a degree means nothing some economies and areas of our country. I would assume(I have lived in upstate NY ) that in rural PA, a degree would be useful to get a decent steady job with benefits. Where I live now, in the rural desert, I have a 2 graduate degrees and my husband has a degree and a trade class he took in high school makes him way more money then any job we could get advanced degrees. Our area is full of retirees that need certain repairs and services and few people trained. Last year there were 110 applicants for every teaching spot and lists of unfilled jobs in most trades with great pay and benefits.
  21. I'm very curious about how their edit will be. 20 years ago I had girls in my college dorm that joined the LDS church to come to America from eastern Europe and Asia. They had friends all over the country that did this. I actually knew one girl from Eastern Europe that moved to Rexburg ID just like this couple. They are still married but had a lot of battles over education and family. I now live in Utah and see my neighbors all excited when their missionary brings home a girl from another country and now some of my kids friend's parents met on in this same way so I have seen this from many angles. My one pet peeve with some is the some of the women not getting as much education as they would like. I know several women that are brilliant that were from Eastern Europe or Central/South America that have husband's that are in "business"(lucked into because of nepotism) and make enough to support the family so the wives of course have no option but to stay at home. TLC could make a show just out of LDS that do this because it is so common now. From my front door I can see 7 homes that have either had kids marry someone they met on their mission or the couple met during a mission. I believe Josh will get married and TLC will edit it much differently then it happens.
  22. I would be curious to know their exact religious beliefs. I remember when the first were introduced on the show, I looked up and the program they met at was kind of "Duggar like". It was pretty much about women birthing kids, large family, purity, young marriage. Maybe not as strict as the Duggars but their were ATI people who had attended the Bible Study that Amy and Danny met at so it is all not as innocent as it looks. Watching Amy and Danny might be more typical long term then the Duggars. Most of these couples live pretty merger , they have large families but never get the education to get employment to reach middle class.
  23. I'm going to disagree. I'm in Southern Utah so Waffle Love is basically the only regular food truck option. My daughter was begging to go to a food truck after seeing them on TV for years and our city has made it very hard for them to do business. Waffle love parks in a bank parking lot on the weekends. It is next to the hospital and after going to the doctor I took her. I have no issue paying for good food. I wish our city would get more non-chain resturants and I would be happy to pay more to support local businesses. I did find that getting 2 waffles with strawberries and cream for $22(They take credit cards and they basically wrote in my tip and asked if it was okay) was overpriced. Was the waffle good, yes. Anything special, nope. I lived in Europe and I understand the difference in waffles. I think the success of the truck is because they have no competition where I live. It hurt me to large families coming down to support the truck and have a hard time paying so much. The do use LDS networking, which is fine. I do think most families think that spending $60 for their familes to get waffles is a shock when they get to the truck. One mom said I can pay for baseball for my son for the entire season for the price of waffles. Again most people here have little experience with food trucks and don't know the costs till they arrive. Then it is hard to say no with your church friends there. There was one food trailer (puledl by a pick up truck) at the college and they sold 12 mini donuts with toppings for $3. I think that is what some of the customers think they are going to when they get asked to Waffle Love. I wonder what will happen if and when Waffle Love gets competition. I'm also curious why the city makes it so hard for anyone else to come in but Waffle Love got in quick? I think my reason for hoping they don't win has nothing to do with the product or price. They do not need the money. They are very successful. They just want the title to get more local business (which is fine). I guess I would like to see someone win a show like this that the money would help them go further in their business or have a personal need. I also think a new creative idea should be rewarded. I give the Waffle Love guys credit for finding a way to get married young, not go to college and have a great standard of living for themselves and their growing families. I see so many people get married here at 19-21 and if they don't have family help, they struggle with young families and wives that want the "dream"(new house, new SUV etc).
  24. Last night they showed the episode (Cedar city) my husband volunteered on. The episode events were shown out of order, most likely to create a storyline. I'm not sure why they had to do this. Basically several days before they started filming they asked for volunteers. There were ads all over southern Utah. We live about 60 miles from Cedar City and saw a local news website advertising for help and my husband drove up (honestly more to see how the show was filmed). My husband responded to the ad and he had a time early in the morning 3 hour time slot. The volunteers were there when Anthony arrived. He went and met with the owners and then met the volunteers. I didn't get that last minute meeting with the home builders association? By that time the volunteers had been working for 36 hours straight. There were over 1,000 people volunteering including the local college sports teams and students (I'm surprised he focused on just Shakespeare festival when SUU, is a growing university and has offered out of state students in state rates which has brought students from neighboring states. Cedar City population is 29k and SUU has 8k students, many students looking at the college or families visiting the college need lodging). There was no surprise about the mortgage , that was a storyline. I was kind of sad they could not have shown a small city that has a growing college and a man that wanted to make the city alive again, instead of fake drama about mortgage or needing last minute help.. The owner, who I believe took on more then he could handle is SO right. Both St George and Cedar have nothing to do in their downtown. There is nothing for college students, kids, families, and I applaud his vision but it will likely never happen. I didn't think the renovation except the lobby was all that good. I still would not stay in one of the rooms. I'll admit I'm a hotel snob and between Vegas and SLC there are not many hotels I would consider along 1-15. the hotel is still in a dead location, that is dark at night with not anything close, like food, entertainment, parks etc. The rooms are still basic. I know there is a market for clean basic rooms and a decent breakfast. The Shakespeare festival is only a few months of the year. That is why I thought he should have created family rooms for people traveling to see the college or going to the national parks. I have a son and a daughter and now that they are older, it is so hard to find a room or suite in Utah with multiple beds or 2 bedrooms. the Hyatt and Hilton built a lot of nice hotels in Northern Utah but almost all are king suites. Even the Marriotts have only a 3-4 rooms for families.
  25. With Jill & Jessa having 6 younger buddies, it would be easy to have them come and visit without JB & M. I'm sure TLC could find a way for Ben to give talks to Josiah about being an unemployed teenager courting. Of course I should not give TLC ideas since I really think they all would be better off going back to whatever their "normal" life is. The Roloffs(not a big fan of their show either) at least were a bit more honest. The kids did not all get great grades and took very but realistic paths in life. The Duggars expect us to believe all 19 kids want 19 kids and no college. At least the Roloffs ended up with Jeremy graduating from art school, Zack working at a soccer stadium , Molly being the scholar (accountant I think) , and Jacob barely getting a GED. This is a lot closer to real life.
