Lucas is scaring me. This is the only update I could find: https://parade.com/news/my-600-lb-life-lucas-higdon-now-update-weight-loss-journey I think he looks thinner, and on Instagram he looks thinner in the face too, but I'm suspicious about people altering photos on that. At least he's working.
-
He's started saying 'preliminary' skin removal. After watching the doctors on 1,000 Best Friends and 1,000 lb Sisters, they say skin removal is not just a one time process, and they'll need a preliminary skin removal, and then other procedures to revise and do more cosmetic procedures to the final outcome. So many are so oddly shaped from the huge amounts of weight they carried and in such individual ways, they need several skin removals.

I think one or both of the son's have a diagnosis.

Rosie really is nice to people who treat her kindly, like Lucas. Notice she didn't smile or react with Michael's weight loss? I like Lucas, but I just can't like Michael, he seems so self centered. Lucas at 347 is concerning.
-
A lot of them struggle with still loosing, especially during Covid lockdowns. Lucas still has lost a lot, just needs to recommit, and watch his portions. It's also harder to lose after you get closer to your goal weight too. I'm hoping Lucas can get it together.
-
I'm surprised Michael lost so much weight. Lucas is a total success story, but I'm surprised Michael is doing so well. Lucas going for his first post Covid weigh in and saying he slipped a few times worries me, 352 is a good number.
-
Yes, Lucas and Mike were pre-Covid, so guess before Dr. Now did all of the surgeries with the robot.
-
Lucas is the one who lives in the family compound. Michael is the one who whines a lot, and has the wife he treats like a servant. Lucas is doing so well!
-
Lucas looks like a winner, and I'm rooting for him. Mike, who knows long term.
-
My guess is the great views will disappear as soon as they start building the rest of the community. I really disliked the green kitchen, the stone was glow in the dark green, and the pantry was useless. The DeBoers kitchen looked like a cave. The Kalama's kitchen was lovely, and I like the combination of finishes. Jonathan and Jordan's kitchen was lovely too.
-
As far as I can tell from every cable guide and TLC's schedule this the last 'new' episode, even though it was film at least a couple of years ago, but never aired. Lucas-lives in family compound with lots of relatives. Used to play football. Starting weight 619. Good sign he's weighing his food. He's doing very well, lost over 200 lbs, had surgery, following the plan Dr. Now set for him. Michael-He gets on my last nerve. He claims to be agoraphobic, but hops in the car and drives to Dr. Now's without a problem. When he needs to get rid of the foods he shouldn't eat, he tosses it in the burn barrel, I guess donating it would be too generous, and not dramatic for him. Start weight over 600. He's a whiner, and I hate whining.

16 April “In Need of Rental Recourse” New, Season 11, Episode 121 (Deborah Winslow vs. Destiny Willis ) From the show site: Plaintiff accuses her ex-tenant of fabricating repair issues, dodging rent and leaving the home in disarray; the defendant claims she paid all dues, paid for repairs and cleaned thoroughly. Plaintiff/landlord Deborah Winslow suing defendant/former tenant Destiny Willis for unpaid rent, damages, leaving the home in a terrible state. Suing for $2,774. for back rent, trash removal, repair costs. Defendant claims she paid for repairs, all rent, and place was immaculate, and in counterclaiming for overpayment of rent for $5,000. Rent was $1990, Section 8 paid, most, and her portion was $369, later $599. Defendant moved in with two children, and a boyfriend not on the lease, and he was not allowed by Section 8. Boyfriend was not allowed by Section 8 rules, in L.A., after 14 days he had to be put on the lease, and rent would be recalculated by Section 8 for his income. Security was $3,000, and plaintiff gave defendant $1,029 back because she had issues. Defendant claims she didn't agree to the $1,029 rebate. Defendant claims lease and agreement submitted by plaintiff are forgeries. If Section 8 paid the security deposit, why would the plaintiff or judges give her the $3,000 back? Defendant says plaintiff illegally charged her late fees, and money for deadbeat boyfriend moving in. She claims she overpaid from 2019 to 2024. Plaintiff claims defendant owes her $3,000 for late fees and unpaid rent. Defendant actually moved in with two kids, the boyfriend, and the older son too. Judge Juarez points out that the agreement between the litigants was illegal for the boyfriend or older son or whoever moved in to be there outside the Section 8 lease. That's because tenants all have to get their income included. So litigants bypassed Section 8 on the extra illegal tenants. Defendant wants the extra rent she paid for the extra tenant and late fees is what she wants back. Defendant lodged several complains with Section 8 about landlord. The Section 8 worker says the money defendant claims was either for late fees, that plaintiff says was the payment for the illegal tenants. Judge J points out that defendant had security deposit paid by Section 8, so paying her anything would be a windfall. Everything dismissed, both litigants are coming to court with unclean hands. “Lone-ly Neighbor” Rerun, Season 10, Episode 136 p. 47, 2 May 2024

Laurel started years before the show, with the Main Street Laurel foundation. The mercantile owned by Ben and Erin, Mallorie and Jim, and Josh and Emily was a big draw too. People worked for years to get Laurel businesses, and the business district being successful again. Ben was president of the foundation for a year or two a long time ago. One of the early season shows was the woman who was head of the Main Street Laurel group buying and remodeling a house. The makeover towns will have to come together, do some social media marketing, keep doing events, and keep the momentum going. The problem with Wetumpka is the Wind Creek Casino, it's a huge draw with the casino, concerts and other entertainment, shopping, and it's a destination. Lots of people I know go there for vacation for long weekends or a week, to the various events. They never go into town. They also bring in the other HGTV people so Erin and Ben don't have to spent the entire time in the town, without their kids, or with so much time away from home. Cross promotion is a big part of it of course.

The Slatons in the Media: Anything for a Dollar

I think she shoved her arm in the camel's mouth, after tempting it closer with the cups of feed the safari park sell you to feed the animals. If that was a bite from an animal with four huge canine teeth, Amy would have been bleeding out, not saying Owwww! and have a tiny, sharp clean cut on her arm. -
I wonder how many homes will be built between the houses on the show with the great view, and the mountains? And two of the houses don't have a great view.

15 April “Patience is a Virtue” New, Season 11, Episode 120 (Ja'Neysha Dampier vs. Virtue Gonzalez) From the show site: The plaintiff accuses her former roommate of verbal abuse and property damage; the defendant counters with claims of unruly behavior and unpaid utilities. Plaintiff Ja'Neysha Dampier suing defendant/former roommate Virtue Gonzalez for property damage, and verbal abuse. Suing for $3,354 for property defendant disposed of. Dampier Gonzalez Defendant counter claims for costs to get rid of junk plaintiff left behind, unpaid utilities and verbal abuse, $525. (This happened in Salem OR). Plaintiff claims there were phone conversations about the property defendant trashed after she threw her out. Judge J. gets angry with defendant, because plaintiff was in a bad situation. My view, plaintiff's situation isn't a reason for defendant to keep renting to her. Plaintiff claims defendant kept her and her child's jackets, but defendant says she gave that to defendant. And plaintiff claims everything was kept by defendant. Defendant says she set up a date for plaintiff to pick up her stuff, but plaintiff didn't show. Judge T. also says to defendant that she was unreasonable cutting communication with plaintiff, and saying though plaintiff wasn't homeless, but was struggling. What was plaintiff's reason for not keeping the appointment to pick up her propety including a TV bigger than my sofa, a freezer, and her clothing? Plaintiff denies the photos of junk piled high in defendant's home isn't her stuff, and she left the place neat. Defendant says the plaintiff's daughter took the iPad when the plaintiff moved out. Plaintiff claims she was charged for three cable boxes and two modems, but defendant says plaintiff returned the cable gear. I find nothing plaintiff says believable. Plaintiff has nothing to prove anything she owned, and the cable box issue that plaintiff lied about nullifies everything she claimed. Defendant claim dismissed. Plaintiff lives 600 miles from defendant now, so picking up property isn't possible. Plaintiff gets $750 in property claims. “A Dog Walks into a Bar” Rerun, Season 10, Episode 133 p. 47, 29 April 2024

I couldn't stand Alison and Michel's kitchen. I thought the green looked hideous, and the pantry cabinets were too shallow to be useful. That's the place you put things like big roasting pans or platters you don't use often, and nothing bigger than a plate would fit in those cabinets. I didn't like the Deboer's kitchen either, it was too dark, and the vent hood looked cheap and garish. I loved Jonathan and Jordan's kitchen, except I would have put a handpainted style regular tile in the back splash behind the stove for a little pop of color. (Jonathan is color blind, so I bet the brother picked the colors). The lights were too big for the space, so smaller fixtures would have worked better. The Kalama's (? spelling) kitchen looked lovely. I liked the variety of finishes, and think the dining rooms issue was the table was scooted too close to the one wall, probably for filming reasons, and the chairs were too thick. (I don't like the slab running up the wall trend, I like a nice tile backsplash). I've said before, the show picks the weekly winners, and the overall winner for the show that needs ratings and publicity, not for best design. (Michel's partner on R the B and their show joined Queer Eye I think, that's why they teamed him with Alison).

14 April “Fresh-N-Loan” New, Season 11, Episode 119 (Cameron Tyson vs. Ryan Wilson) From the show site: Two siblings are locked in a heated dispute over a loan; tension is high as both sides present their case to the judges. Plaintiff/sister Cameron Tyson suing defendant/brother Ryan Wilson for an unpaid loan. Suing for $4,190. Defendant says even though he signed a loan agreement to repay his sister, he owes nothing. Brother needed the money for attorney fees, claimed he was getting a settlement to replay sister. Sister borrowed the money from grandmother for the brother, on brother's behalf. Since brother didn't have a job, grandmother would only loan to relatives who had jobs. So sister borrowed the money, and written agreement with brother says when he gets a settlement he will pay sister $6,000. Defendant says he repaid grandmother $2,000, but plaintiff isn't suing for the $2,000, just the remaining loan. Brother received the $5,000 settlement, and he only grave the grandmother $2,000, and grandmother was upset about the shortfall. Defendant says grandmother felt sorry for him, and told him not to pay her since he had no job. Brother paid the grandmother $2,000, sister felt obligated to pay the grandmother, so he's been making regular payments, but still owes grandmother almost $2,000. Corriero is not happy with defendant, and pretty much calls him a deadbeat, but then makes excuses for him. Defendant's settlement was $30,000 total, and only paid the grandmother $2,000, and nothing to the sister. $3940 is what plaintiff is owed. Plaintiff receives $3,940 “Not So Great Ex-Pectations” Rerun, Season 10, Episode 183 p. 50, 4 September 2024

(Julian used his immunity last week, Corey still has his immunity) Preheat Challenge: bakers must draw inspiration from a scented candle and create a dessert that features an edible candle that lights, and enhances the overall experience of the dish. There has to be a voltive edible candle too. Julian really goofed using immunity last week. Raveena's is adorable, and good taste. Kari's looks nice, taste is fantastic. Paul's is lovely, taste is good. Priya's is nice, taste is good. Corey's is spectacular, taste is good but needs more sugar. Lisa's is beautiful, 'candle' is too hard, taste is good. Julian's is nice, not decorated enough, taste is fantastic. Mary-Frances's is nice, taste is not strawberry and too tart like lemon again. Winner of Gift Basket: Kari (Gift basket prize is gift to assign desserts) Elimination Challenge: bakers go head-to-head in a challenge that combines two iconic spring favorites, lemon meringue pie and carrot cake. Judges decide who did each flavor the best. Split into two teams, either Lemon or Carrot, have head to head match ups, with winners getting immunity. Kari gets to assign desserts. Kari is going against Mary-Frances, Priya and Corey, Raveena and Lisa, Paul and Julian. Julian says he's never done a Lemon Meringue or Carrot cake. His Paris Brest isn't cooking, so he scrapes the inside out, he should have saved his immunity instead of using it last week. Lemon: Mary-Frances, Lisa, Julian, Corey. Carrot: Raveena, Paul, Kari, Priya. Raveena v. Lisa, winner is Raveena Paul v. Julian, winner is Paul (they noticed the undercooked dough on Julian's) Kari (not enough carrot flavor) v. Mary-Frances (she finally got the taste right), winner is Mary-Frances Priya v. Corey-(Corey's is too tart) winner is Corey Both sides tie, so no immunity. Bottom Team: Julian and Priya Eliminated Baker: Julian -
I'm so happy for Rory. I had given up hope of another lifetime grand slam, but this was a great outcome. Justin was very gracious to him too.

I would have been fine with two teams going to LCK, Corwin and Kat, as well as Vinnie and Lana. Vinnie's getting on my last nerve, and waving bye-bye to him wouldn't bother me a bit. Hollandaise sauce on that dish was awful.
