  1. Oh, that does make sense. Lohank talked about the three dogs that fell into something (will have to listen again). It would have been only one dog, if they hadn't been tied together.
  2. Finally caught this last night and laughs tons. Can anyone help me with a line? After Jake and Terry fall into the pit (sorry, hole), Boyle laments that its something-something-something all over again. Couldn't make this out after two tries at listening, and I haven't figured out the closed captioning on our TV. :-(
  3. Previous recipients have been Richard Pryor (1998), Jonathan Winters (1999), Carl Reiner (2000), Whoopi Goldberg (2001), Bob Newhart (2002), Lily Tomlin (2003), Lorne Michaels (2004), Steve Martin (2005), Neil Simon (2006), Billy Crystal (2007), George Carlin (2008), Bill Cosby (2009), Tina Fey (2010), Will Ferrell (2011), Ellen DeGeneres (2012), and Carol Burnett (2013). On October 18, the Kennedy Center honored Eddie Murphy. The broadcast is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 23 at 9e/8c. Check your local PBS listings. Also, PBS Says It Will Include Eddie Murphy’s Entire Bill Cosby Zinger In Mark Twain Prize Broadcast P.S. I thought a thread already existed for this program, but I cannot find it!
  4. My comment stands, nara. If you are concerned about the school an applicant attended or the LSAT scores that got him/her into that school, you use the interview process to look for information that either confirms or overturns your concerns. You ask substantive questions about coursework and related experience. You probe the person's ability to think and their character. The Kings should know this, and writing their seemingly intelligent and savvy characters this way suggests they think their audience is made up of nitwits. Oh, well, perhaps I *am* a nitwit for continuing to expect more from this show than its creators seem capable of delivering...
  5. Because, apparently, the leading named partner of this prestigious law firm does all the grunt work herself.
  6. I haven't watched Grandfathered, but The Grinder is pretty good. Sorry to hear it's not doing well ratingswise. I always record B99 and watch it later with my husband, so the day of week doesn't affect me personally. I'll be sad, however, is this ends up being a ploy to justify cancelation.
  7. The concerns about Monica's "second tier" law school and her LSATs were ridiculous. That information was known before they invited her to interview. They should have been discussing what they learned about Monica through the interviews -- but of course they learned nothing, because they were going through the motions rather than actually getting to know her.
  8. Wasn't quite sure where to put this question, so apologies if it belongs somewhere else. Did Lou ever say what prompted him to move from Luverne to Bemidji? And when that happened? The latter is about 300 miles north of the former. I'm not recalling whether Molly primarily grew up in Bemidji.
  9. Must be the case, because in a late S1 episode, Lou refers to Molly being four when he sat on the porch keeping watch (which I assume is a reference to the events of S2). It's a minor change that I can live with, except that a 6-year-old would remember a whole heck of a lot more than a 4-year-old would, and grownup Molly seemed pretty clueless about the past in S1. We'll see just how much 6-year-old Molly is exposed to.
  10. Don't remember the specifics, but in a late S1 episode, Lou pins his injury on something unrelated to these events. But damn, the body count is already half-way to the ceiling and we still have Sioux Falls to go?
  11. Recreating Obama's announcement was incredibly tone-deaf, and then poorly executed to boot. Margo should be embarrassed to play this character.
  12. After seeing Malvo self-medicate a massive bear-trap leg wound, I'm even more confused about why he visited the hospital for a minor bump on the head in the first episode. I suppose he could have been there to scout information about his escaped hostage. He couldn't very well go to the police station.
  13. I hadn't seen any of Hedy Lamarr's movies since Samson and Delilah back when I was baby-sitting as a young teenager, so I recently recorded and watched Comrade X (1940) with her and Clark Gable. Talk about "stone-faced star." She was painful to watch and listen to. Thank goodness, Clark had enough vim and verve for the two of them. Would have been nice for Eve Arden to turn up more as well. She crackled in her too-few scenes.
  14. Well, she's got that huge wig-and-wine budget, ya know...
  15. I suspect it bothers you for the same reason it bothers me: the mistakes and sloppiness are so unnecessary. Also, I'm spoiled by Mad Men, where timelines and locations almost always made perfect sense.
  16. Click-bait. I hope folks who recognized only Ford's name will actually click through and read the obituaries. Mathison leaves an impressive legacy. I've never watched The Black Stallion, but can still remember Sisket & Ebert raving about it when it was release.
  17. Brad Garrett is doing an excellent job as a mobster in season 2 of Fargo (FX), but apparently he sucks at running.
  18. Apparently, Brad Garrett sucks at running.
  19. Didn't bother me. The piece of glass wasn't THAT big; Lou was not looking for remnants of a car accident at the time, while Hanzee was; and the glass would blend into the snow. Loved the Godfather-esque meeting between Brad Garrett's KC emissary and the Gerhardt family. Agree that Jean Smart is killing this role. And Lou! High Noon kinda day, indeed.
  20. Having recently read City of Thieves by David Benioff, I would think twice before running. if they catch you, and they probably will, they could torture you in worse ways than the hole. Seriously. I LOL'd at that! Me as well. One of Marge's best lines. Count me among those who remember this. Bought my first car in 1978, and when taking a road trip in summer, 1979, I was worried about being able to get gas when I needed it. People have short memories and love to bend facts to their preferred narrative. I'm caught up with the current series now -- yay!
  21. Bwaaaaaah! But seriously, you're making me really miss Justified. Now there was some good storytelling.
  22. Keith Carradine is 66 and Lou in 2006 looks at least about that old to me. That would put Lou in his late 30s in 1979, which doesn't really make sense with the Viet Nam timeline. Won't fuss about it too much. Wilson and Carradine are both good actors!
  23. Actor Fred Thompson has passed away. First role I can remember seeing him in was as Roseanne's creepy foreman at the Wellman Plastics factory.
  24. I was not familiar with MacFarlane until he hosted SNL a few years ago, and I thought he was well above average as a host. Did not care for his hosting of the Oscars in 2013, but the producers should have known what they were getting. According to Wikipedia: Enjoying Stephen's vampire costume. His Obama joke about Syria just before the opening credits was a real burn.
