S09.E08: Not So Silent Night
Muffyn replied to swankie's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
It's a toss up between Eddie and Vicki for unlikely voice of reason this episode. Eddie for his comment trying to just shut down the drama. Vicki for telling Tamra to be happy for the free publicity. One hint to Tamra re: Ryan's excess iron issue, this can also be an effect of alcoholism. It leads to a neurological disorder. If he had the genetic disorder, it would most likely have been noticed in his youth. So, Rapey Ryan, help us all out by doing more drugs and drinking more. That should help get you out of the gene pool. The editors definitely through Tamra under the bus with the way they showed her talking about her need for botox and testosterone, then having her express concern for Ryan. Apple, meet tree. To quote, copy and paste the text you are quoting. Then highlight the quoted text and select the quotation mark (") icon. The text will then be included in a quote box. It sometimes helps to add extra lines below the quote prior to highlighting it so you will not have issues placing additional text. -
Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Why use Depend? Because she peeing right now and not spraying her trainer in the face. It's a win-win situation, unless he's into golden showers. -
S09.E06: Showdown at the Hoedown
Muffyn replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
I hate to admit this, but I agree with Tamra - Eddie could be one of The Village People. -
But dr pepper, these are highly intelligent people who cannot even figure out they should get a nanny. The board member thing made little to no sense on the show, since Christina's leaving had her leaving the board but it wasn't discussed for Mer/Der. In reality, of course, board members do not typically have to work for the hospital in other capacities. While we're at it, I'll take millions of dollars of shares in a hospital. Thanks! Sandra Oh yet again proves that she is the best actor on this show.

If only Tamra would focus on fixing the ugly parts of her personality. There have been times when I have asked admitted I didn't know the meaning of a word in a conversation. However, this has always been when I could not infer the meaning from the context. Also, this has occurred when I have been speaking to an expert in a field in which I am not very knowledgeable. Of course, I was trying to clarifying meaning so I could stay actively involved in a conversation at an intelligent level. Not something Tamra has ever tried. I had this on and kept turning it down. Why does Tamra have to screech? Is she part screech owl? She just shrieks over top of everyone and laughs her phony guffaw, enjoying her own supposed humor. I had a friend that is not very bright. She would sometimes ask me for definitions of words. Later she started criticizing me for using words she did not know. Also, she would chose to words incorrectly. I would correct her (kindly and not in front of others). She would then implore, "Why can't I use the word the way I want?" When she would then use the word incorrectly and someone else would correct her, she would be in tears. So, when Heather corrects Tamra, that is what I think of. The only difference is Tamra would never be embarrassed to be corrected by someone else. She is proud of her ignorance and crassness.

I was actually shocked by Ramona's behavior. (Usually when shows tell me how shocked I'll be, I am very far from it). She took time to think before she threw the glass at Kristen. Then throwing the oar. If only the oar had floated off, between Ramona and Sonja they probably couldn't have figured out how to get to shore with only one paddle. I would love a weekend in the Berkshires at such a nice house. There was such a contrast between Carole/Luann and Ramona/Sonja. Ramona did not want to be there and could not shut up about it. She is the worst guest ever. I understand her desire for air conditioning. I am also not a fan of extreme heat. But she should have handled this so much better. She could also put down the wine and try an iced beverage instead. There's a reason people drink iced tea in the summer. Wouldn't want her too far away from her lifeline of pinot. Kristen seems playful. Unfortunately for her, Ramona doesn't understand playful. Moaner has it in for Kristen. Her reactions are well outside normal responses for the situations and perceived slights.

S10.E22: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
Muffyn replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Grey's Anatomy
This episode, while better than so many recently, featured all of the Shonda standards. We had the purposefully obtuse conversation. Burke doesn't tell Christina he's leaving until after she says she cannot work for him again. The whole is this personal or professional game plays out for a long time. We also had the over the top comparisons. We get love of my life and losing the award was like losing a baby. While with the love of his life (who, let's face it, even though he didn't say the words "completes" him) he still would not be able to hold back his passion for Christina (in a Shonda world, everybody cheats). And somehow all of these world class surgeons (at least Derek has been described as such on multiple occasions) do not seem to keep up with the progress in their fields and know what is being worked on elsewhere. If Burke is so exceptional, Christina would know where he is and what he's doing. Also, while I know several doctors who have moved in the last few years to be near their elderly parents, they all worked in internal medicine or family practice. They were not cutting edge surgeons building their careers. (They also found the cost of running a practice in San Francisco prohibitive). Dr. Muffyn has moved several times to further his career. And he always knows what so going on in the field. Our fine Seattle surgeons are too busy fretting over their interpersonal issues that they rarely remember they're surgeons. Couldn't Burke's wife have wanted to move because she had an opportunity in Milan and, since she had made sacrifices to support his career, he was now going to sacrifice to support her career? Christina is not the only woman for whom career is important. And women can value both family and career and still be successful. -
Strudel-Boy and Cawowine: Irritating Kids in Commercials
Muffyn replied to OriginalCyn's topic in Commercials
For how long are they going to run that godawful Cawowine ad? Just saw it for the 1000th time a few moments ago. Isn't she in high school by now? Has creepy grandpa paid for some speech therapy? -
Was there something going on in Gunnar's pants at the golf course? No, really. Beyond being very ugly, they just looked a little, er, full, at the end of the scene. Is he packing or just happy to see us? Too much Scarlet. I can only hope that, after her big melt down, we'll now get less of her. I can dream, can't I?

Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best has so many ridiculous story lines. Recently we were exposed to: Melissa's friend/Joan's writer gets drunk and makes out with Melissa's boyfriend. She is drunk, he lets her sleep in his bed at the hotel wearing little to nothing. Melissa shows up unannounced and catches them. Of course, since we have footage from inside the hotel room, I'm pretty sure she wasn't exactly unannounced. Joan talks Melissa into giving her a sleeping pill. Mel tells her to take half but of course Joan takes the whole pill. She then calls people and does such things as giving an antique chair to one of her writers (who then has it refinished and reupholstered, ruining its value), calling a man she hates and ending their feud, etc. Joan gets concerned about earthquakes so she decides they need to be self-sufficient at the Malibu house. She gets ducks and chickens which ruin the yard. I could go on and on but I feel myself getting more stupid just typing these. No, I don't know why I ever watch this show.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads
Muffyn replied to Lola16's topic in Commercials
I saw the Swiffer commercial during Hoarders too (been watching marathons of hoarding shows). After watching these shows, we've learned he could shit himself and store it in plastic bags and still find a mate. Throw is a few flat cats and he'll have the ladies swooning. I also love seeing ads for shopping sites during these shows, especially ones that encourage you to buy things every day from their site. These work really well when the person's biggest problem is a shopping addiction and their house is filled with unpacked shopping bags and unopened boxes. -
That leopard and rose tattoo was seriously fugly. Compete to tattoo something that, if you came up with it on your own, would have us bounce you out of here so fast your head would spin. Leopard with a facial deformity and dislocated jaw biting a rose. Lovely. I'm just glad Jay is gone. He is exhausting.

We built this city on rock and roll – WTF? We need to kidnap the music director for this show so they will stop with the terrible, reworked song choices. I can only hope April dies in childbirth and has the baby very, very early.

Tommen is royally screwed. He'll end with a wife who has already buried two husbands and the head of his king's guard cannot protect a king.

Hey now, last week Bria did actually "play" the guitar in that she held down a chord and picked the strings. She did this for all of 15 seconds throughout the performance, if that. And the guitar clearly was mic'ed because what she was "playing" did not match the song. I missed the first 6 performances last night. Kat was way off the timing of the song. She has a good voice but needs to learn how to work with a song, not against it. She puts out a lot of show without having the singing basics down. Sisaundra was disappointing. She does have a beautiful, powerful voice. This was the first time that I really agreed with what some others have said, she did not seem to connect with the song at all.

And why did they cut the meat then serve the soup in the living room? The meat should sit, whole, so the juices are absorbed and distributed and cut before serving. And Shannon making a point that the soup was vegan - she's serving meat and has cheese in the potatoes. Yeah, it's a odd dinner. Also, with a house that big, you have your guests sit in a room where they can hear you complaining in the kitchen, smart. The only thing more odd was Tamra's Halloween party for ten people. I know Bravo foots the bill for this crap, but that was a lot of set up for what looked like a small, boring party. And the man sitting next to Vicki on the couch was trying way to hard to get a quippy sound bite.

The "Yeah. You heard me." really sold it. You could feel the "What?!?" on the other end of the phone. It reminded me of an Arrested Development classic "you cunt-try loving . . . ." I loved the sight gag with the similar red dresses. I will need to watch this episode several times. There were so many funny lines and sight gags.

I find the thought of mixing margarine into my scrambled eggs much stranger than blow-drying a chicken. Can I consider this a fail? -

My take is they never let the daughter into the house. Occasionally they would let her sit in the car in the garage, but usually she was stuck in the driveway. She grew up in the back seat because she had more room to stretch out back there. Later she turned tricks in the car. Subaru, the car for neglectful parents. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Muffyn replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Worse yet, the SAM ad is about pee pads, because all women have bladder control issues and are just randomly pissing themselves while sitting and waiting. A friend or coworker has quietly asked if I had a tampon or a quarter for the tampon machine; that is the extent of the conversation. I have never had a conversation about "feminine" products with a stranger. Apparently these pads cause some kind of mental breakdown that destroys the sense of what is appropriate to discuss with strangers. Later she'll share photos of her anal polyps and start singing songs about sex with hamsters. -
I could understand April being sad that Jackson doesn't feel the love of god that helps her get through her days. I could understand her being concerned for his soul. These are things I've been told by Christians who, while I do not agree with their beliefs, I feel had my best interest at heart. Her whole crap about feeling sorry for him because he does not believe things he cannot prove is silly. So if he chose to believe in yetis or jackalopes would she be okay then? What if he decided his liver is haunted and needs to be replaced? Would that work for her?

Dr. Muffyn has won several awards. The hospital would have had many representatives at the banquet, regardless of Christina's desire. I hate histrionic April. I hate the way people fight on this show. And the silliness of Jackson and April getting married when they never discussed any of the critical issues that married people need to address. Makes me stabby. I am kind of hoping the heart failure family all die. I am over them. In retrospect, maybe I'm just too cranky to watch this episode. I am hoping Christina's not winning the Harper Avery award will lead to her leaving to work at a hospital that is more cutting edge. There are key cardiac centers where she could work with people at her level and beyond. It's hard to learn when no one around you is even near your level.

Kyle will get right into it when he's mad, so I agree Kromm, he might completely snap, scream, yell and posture, but he's not likely to have a freezer full of severed heads. Gentle Jay seems like he has a blow up doll at home that he abuses to express his overwhelming anger. This whole season is a wash-rinse-repeat of whining about how tough the requested tattoos are, whining about who they each have been given, whining about the "canvases" and whining about the judges. They should keep a big block of cheese handy to go with all of the whining. Nunez is an ass. He likes to poke the crazy then act surprised when they snap. I am glad they bounced Kyle from the show. I would hate to see them keep him, hoping he would provide even more fireworks. The advancing on Nunez and then the two of them puffing up their chests and trying to stare each other down needed ape noises to complete the tableau. A battle of tools. And Snausage, it's a competition. You are talented. This is a contest. When you control the skulls, you play the game and try to trip up the stronger competitors. When they control the skulls, they do the same thing. You do not get a pass from being on the shit end of the stick.

S06.E05: Everybody Thinks We're Drag Queens
Muffyn replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
FozzyBear, the friendship poem was a real WTF moment for me too. Whenever I watch these shows I invariably find myself wondering if the women all have issues with arrested development. Is she 13 and trying to bind with her besties through a crappy poem? Even though rating shave been down I want this show to continue. Weirdly, I feel bad for the train wreck that is Sonja. She needs the money from this show pretty desperately. Of course, I would prefer if she didn't do another bad burlesque routine. My eyes, they bleed! -

Seeing the eharmony dude while I'm trying to get busy would have my legs closed so tight nothing could get in there. Any ad with that man is repellent. The ad you referenced is nightmare-inducing. The Christian Mingle ads bug me because it always seems like these people are on their second marriages. So this time god is helping you find the perfect person for you. Why did he lead you to that asshole you divorced in the first place?
