Unfortunately they kept many of the people who gave very animated expressions during judging. SMH. It's going to take time to learn the inktestants, especially with so many extra special names.

S11.E08: Shannon Gets Her Groove Back

So Kelly is Liz Lemon from 30 Rock? Spending her life thinking she was bullied while everyone else knows she is horrible to everyone around her. -
NBC Olympic Coverage: What You See Is All You're Gonna Get
Muffyn replied to Quilt Fairy's topic in 2016 Olympics
I think NBC expected Sam Mikulak to be their person to focus on for men's gymnastics. They bet on the wrong pony! So they pushed the coverage to late night. I didn't watch much of the closing ceremonies but I was glad to hear Mary Carillo's voice for that. I wonder if they got enough negative feedback from the trio of fools they used for the opening ceremonies so they switched announcers? I did see a lot of the daytime coverage. I also watched streaming on my laptop for archery, fencing, gymnastics, weight lifting . . . okay, I'm not working right now so I had a more free time than most. for many events, the coverage was much better online than on TV. NBC devoted a channel each to tennis, soccer and basketball. Didn't watch any of that. I am a better viewer of shorter events than committing two hours to a game. -
Totally useless comment: When I see her name on this thread, I read it as Kelly Mega-Dud. I'll let my self out.

S11.E01: The Blind Auditions Olympic Premiere
Muffyn replied to Dots And Stripes's topic in The Voice (US)
I did not like Darby at all. I will be glad if she falls by the wayside quickly, but they do like to bring one "indie" woman through. I assume that We was shown because it was a powerful audition. They like the first one to be great, drawing us in for another season. Darby was shown because both Alicia and Miley got major airtime with her. For that, it was interesting how, during their duet, Miley sang over Darby, drowning her out and not trying to feature her at all. Alicia was so much better at letting Darby be heard and trying to blend together. Right there is a reason to pick Alicia over Miley as a coach. -

I am with you on this. I think he did it so he could then emphasize the role of god in fixing their relationship. If he had to mention the problems, why not instead focus on how David and Shannon are committed to making their marriage better and to creating a strong family. And now we know what it would be like to kiss Vicki. Don't worry. I'll let myself out. -

S11.E08: Shannon Gets Her Groove Back
Muffyn replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
So many ways the Beador event was different: 1. No screaming 2. No drunken antics 3. People other than the housewives attended. 4. People actually seemed to be having a good time. Ways in which it was clearly a Housewives event: 1. Multiple references of how beautiful the location was and shots or mentions of the name of the place. 2. Tamra made a sex joke. 3. Someone (Jeff) looked uncomfortable when Tamra made a sex joke. -

When Kelly was with Meg, she looked like she put her lipstick on in the dark. Was she held back in kindergarten for not knowing how to color between the lines? I too found myself hearing the Soup announcer saying "Meghan King Edmonds, unlikely voice of reason." Valium is her friend. She was articulate, collected and handled the conversation really well. Maybe she should stay stoned for housewife events. I laugh every time they show Kelly doing a talking head in her Hester Prim dress. So proper, she's a little angel. -
The episode in which we learn that Nick has been sporting stringy, greasy gross-looking hair for a long time. What? Are you saying that wasn't the point of this far from scintillating episode.

S07.E06: Swimming With The Gefilte Fishes
Muffyn replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
Given the zero fucks status of Joe and Teresa's intellectual capabilities, they couldn't be trusted to remove it even if they were supposed to (which I doubt). Tre would forget how to read a calendar or how to tell time and cut it off too early. Joe would nod off while using the scissors and put a gash in her leg, then laugh about it. "Whadduya gonna do, Tre?" -

So is he saying Pete is another asshole who doesn't want to really work? Will he focus on money-laundering or how to con people? Okay, that makes sense to me. Apple meet tree! Siggy is so damn loud. She brays louder than Tre. Maybe she's there to help soften Tre's image. Her kids are playing this up for the cameras. It's exhausting. Shallow note: Is Jac's nose shifting to the side? It really looked crooked to me. I've come to realize that I stare at her freak show face too intently because I am not interested in anything she has to say. -

The Nigerian men's soccer team almost didn't make it to the Olympics because they had trouble paying for their airline tickets. Maybe Sonja with a sexy J is working with them. That sounds like her. BTW they won the bronze medal. -
Botched By Nature - General Discussion
Muffyn replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Botched By Nature
It really bothered me that he said people with a sunken chest have a shortened life span. He is clearly not a master googler. There are various syndromes for pectus excavatum is a symptom. If he has such a syndrome he may have something that limits lifespan. However, the chest issue alone does not unless it is pressing on his heart. If the bone hits the heart, it is then considered surgical. So he could (and should) have had it fixed earlier. If it doesn't hit the heart, it usually does not cause life-threatening issues. He would have back and chest stiffness and some limits to his lung capacity. So instead of having the corrective surgery, he had an implant made to fill the gap. Then it got infected and started producing fluid. He didn't rush to the ER (because they might want to remove the implant). Instead he mastered draining his chest. I feel for him in that it is hard to grow up with a visible deformity. I also think insurance should pay fot these types of corrective procedures even if they don't see the deformity as life-limiting. But I still think the dude needs to make much better healthcare decisions. -

Eve's Marathon Diary: Tying One On With Sex And The City
Muffyn replied to Primetimer's topic in Sex And The City
I flove your hatred of Steve so much. I hated him from his smarmy, gross beginning all the way through movie #2. He is part of the trope that women don't really know what they want and should start looking at the hard-working "good guy" that is great in reality if not on paper. It fulfills the idea that women typically are looking for money and status in men while the best guys have neither, when most women are not as concerned with money and status as they are with being talked to and treated with respect, having things in common and enjoying each other's company. Other than their love of sports (not exactly that hard to find), what do he and Miranda have in common? So sign me up for Sex And The City 3: Steve Dies A Horrible Agonizing Death. It needs to happen to salvage that relationship for me. Miranda deserves better as do we all. -
Content Note: Story from Pulse shooting A friend's cousin was shot at Pulse. He survived. He only told his cousin where he was when it happened. The rest of his family thinks he was mugged (strong denial and homophobia let his family believe that odd coincidence). He is alive because someone stayed with him and put pressure on his wounds, at one point using a body to help them because he had been shot in the leg and chest. At his request I carried the picture of his colleague who died in the shooting at our local Pride Parade. So I'll watch, and I'll fall apart, and I'll pick up the pieces again and keep going. Because that's what we, as a community, do again and again and again and . . . .

S07.E05: Dinner Interrupted
Muffyn replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Real Housewives Of New Jersey
Clearly Teresa new production was filming because there was a crew at her house. For the "surprise" factor, they may not have told her that Jacq was coming over at that time, they may have said someone else would be there or they may have said they were doing something later in the day or trying to get some hanging around the house/new routine footage. Clearly someone was going to drive Teresa to the dentist, just doesn't mean she knew it would be Jacq. I think if she knew that she would have done her makeup. JMHO. Of course, none of us knows for sure. The thing is Teresa is not a good liar. Doesn't mean she doesn't lie; she just sucks at it. And we can go back to the old argument of Tre says she's smart so she is. I can call myself a pink sparkle pony; it doesn't make me one. Tre is a profoundly stupid person. She struggles to understand even simple things people say to her and it shows on her face. In any battle of wits she is unarmed. Jacq isn't exactly Mensa material. She too struggles with turning input into thoughts, but she still has one up on Tre and she still couldn't come up with a cogent argument. In the latest Jacq/Tre fight, I actually give Tre credit for deciding to leave, even if Joe did have to pack up his wine trolley and leave without getting any pasta. I'm surprised Chris didn't load some in a Tupperware for Joe, hand him a fork and ask him to return the bowl at a later date. Drop the gun, take the cannoli, FFS. Joe should know better. Hell, Tre did time. Did she learn nothing at camp? -
The show was all over the place for me. There were times when it was excellent. As pointed out above, when they did specialty panels there was excellent conversation and a chance to hear little heard, well-informed view points. Unfortunately there were more often wasted panels with ill-informed people giving opinions on subjects in which they were only marginally interested. Also, the show never quite settled into a focus. With Nightly Nightly they were skewering the commercialization and infotainment version of news. Many of the openings used the same items as similar shows, not elevating this show beyond the rest. As many have mentioned, the stale Clinton jokes were annoying but they also showed a lack of willingness to go deeper. The new graphic for the presidential campaign was juvenile and, frankly, just another sexist attack. The show feels like a wasted opportunity. There were glimmers of excellence that were overwhelmed by mediocrity (and Ricky). I am sad that I won't be seeing Holly Walker and Francesca Ramsey. I hope they each get picked up by another show.

Marriage Boot Camp - General Discussion
Muffyn replied to David T. Cole's topic in Marriage Boot Camp
I only watch this if there is someone who draws my attention and, even then, I often bail. Heaven help me, I will watch for Jim and Amber Marchese from The Real Housewives Of New Jersey. He is a disgusting, thin-skinned troll who threatened to sue everyone on RHONJ for saying mean (and usually accurate) things about him. He is a toddler with a law degree. They were a one and done couple who are clearly still desperate for the spotlight. I have no soul. I'll watch. -
Keegan Michael Key is my TV boyfriend. I love when he does the big, open smile. I am still not going to buy a car from him and Crazy Johnny even if it does come with a baby. The new Rebecca and Andy were great, especially when watching the polar bear have sex with the API logo.
