  1. Thank you for the shout out to the audiobook. I've tried several and hate them. When a woman narrates and does a comical deep voice when a man is speaking or the other way around it just takes you right out of the story. This audiobook was perfectly done, with just a slight variation between characters and Santino didn't try to totally change his voice when a woman was speaking so it didn't sound absurd. I have a long commute so I'm definitely going to have to find more books this man has done. Oh how I hope they don't "good" her up. I think that was one of the best parts of the book. It is really conflicting that by the end you can almost see why he wants to choke her. So did I read this wrong or did she pretty much know he was kind of a stalker from the beginning? The fact that she said she knew he was at her reading the night she fell on the tracks and the new email address....Did she know he was reading her stuff all that time, but just didn't know how bad he really was?
  2. Dear God every time he was with the kid was so suspenseful, even without the Benji in the basement. Am I the only one that kind of thinks Benji might have been telling the truth about Beck being a bit of a gold digger? Why else would she pursue a relationship with someone like him and be friends with Peach(es)?
  3. I can't even begin to say how pleasantly surprised I was by this show. I figured it was going to be more Lifetime crap, but I caught the first two episodes On Demand. The trailer looked so good so I figured I'd give it ten minutes and ended up watching both episodes back to back. I think Joe might be right when he says Beck wants to be seen. No one is that naive. Girl must get off on being nekkid in public.
  4. Did she kind of freak out when the psychologist asked her to leave while he talked to Sean and gave him the evil eye while she slinked out the door? I can't fault the Dad. Imagine the crap he's put up with over the years from this dude. I know I couldn't drop my job and everything else to go take care of someone, I couldn't afford it. He went there for 4 days to help him but as a typical hoarder Sean wouldn't get rid of anything. I don't think we could assume that they Dad didn't help him financially either, because unless he was in that bigger apartment from the beginning and getting all the food he wanted, Sean felt deprived and like no one was helping him.
  5. You know what cracks me up? Ashley sitting in the therapists office with the therapist telling her that she needs to start thinking of herself and she's like this because she just worries about everyone else. Ummm hello this is a woman who used a five year old as a personal servant. If she was the type of person that put other people first then that would never have happened. I'm sorry but you are just plain lazy and weak if you do that to a child. I know there are instances where people may get sick and this might happen, through no fault of their own, but that is way different than that and having the kid make you a pack of hot dogs and do the laundry so you don't have to get off your big ass is selfish selfish selfish.
  6. Even though some of the things that happened on this show were really a bit far fetched, there were plenty of things that were so real they took me back to experiences I had as a teenager, which was a long freaking time ago (late 80's early 90's). It is sad that some of these same issues still happen. 1. I had a friend, like Hannah, that was completely innocent but went on a date with the wrong guy who then told everyone they had sex at the beginning of our Freshman year. She was known as the "easy" girl from there forward and was practically assaulted every time she went out with a guy after that. Eventually she just stopped dating and really withdrew from social activities. It was horrible and her parents ended up moving out of state our Junior year. I'm not sure if that was a factor, but it was a major relief for her to be starting over. She was a very nice girl who had (still has) trust issues big time after that. That guy ruined her high school years. 2. We had a coach like that idiot baseball coach. Come to think of it he was the baseball coach at our school too. His players were everything and could do no wrong. I had him for keyboarding and most of his players were in my class. They came and went as they pleased and he seemed more intent on being their friend and fitting in than being a teacher. 3. Another friend of mine reminded me of a different side of Hannah. I think she really wanted to be popular. My niece was all "why does she keep going to those same idiots?" Those idiots were popular and that's what she wanted. She wasn't going to settle on being one of the crowd IMHO. I remember Sky saying something like "She ignored me" when Clay asked her what did Hannah ever do to her. There were people she could have been friends with I bet, but they weren't "those" people. I think the fact that she was a bully in her last school kind of cements that. A good friend of mine through middle school and the beginning of high school was always just miserable because she wasn't part of the popular people. I mean we would hang out with them, but we weren't inner circle type people, and I really didn't want to be. It was everything to this girl, and no matter what she had to do she constantly tried to be part of that circle and was upset when it didn't work out. It didn't matter that she had great loyal friends - she always wanted to be in that "in" crowd. I'm sure I'll think of more, but here's a start. What parts of the show can you relate to your high school experience?
  7. The whole scene was put in basically to cause a student to want to shoot up the school, and it wasn't done well or realistically. I thought that too, that anyone that found that mop would know exactly what had happened in that bathroom. Also, with the way it was forcefully "inserted" (at least the way they portrayed it on the show) Tyler would have been laying on that ground until someone found him, and could possibly have bled to death before he was found. I know some people say that it shouldn't be anymore disturbing than the females who were assaulted, but it is. Not because it was done on a male, but because it was done with an object after he was half drowned in a toilet and his head smashed into a mirror and a sink. I would have cried foul whether it was a female or a male - this was done purely for the shock value and that sucks.
  8. Sarah coming and testifying at Hannah's trial was something I didn't see coming. I had forgot about the comments in season one about the same thing not happening at this school - but I guess at the time I assumed she was bullied at her former school too. The fact that she was one of the bullies makes the story much more interesting to me. I can imagine those people on the jury, hearing all these stories about her being bullied and then BAM this girl comes on the stand and talks about how she had to quit school because it was so incredibly bad. I think their case was lost then and there. It's also interesting that Tony gave the Hannah perspective that she only did what she did because she wanted to fit in. Sounds a lot like the people that bullied her. Not that it makes it right, but definitely adds an interesting twist to the story.
  9. Well that was disturbing... Unfortunately a friend of mine had an experience like Tyler's. She had to be hospitalized for 3 days and had a colostomy bag for 2 months while her colon healed. Things are not meant to go that way and people that choose to do that have to plan carefully and slowly to not damage anything. He would not be walking around seeing how he was attacked and would have probably have bled out by now if he didn't go to the hospital. The showed the end of the mop handle and how far it had went. No way and if they were going for realism someone would have found him passed out on the bathroom floor and not going to shoot up the school. All that points to it being there for shock value to me. Question....Did I miss a part where they suspended the baseball season because of Tyler? I just binged the whole thing in two days because I've had a horrible work schedule and haven't had days off in over a month. The down side is sometimes you miss things when you watch so many in a row.
  10. Tattoos are kind of the norm now, no matter what your size.
  11. Or maybe he just needs help? I think all the bogus Go Fund Me's have really killed the spirit that it started with for sure. I had a friend who lost about 100 pounds with diet and exercise. She waited a year to see what skin would "go back". The poor thing had sores, bleeding, you name it from the rubbing skin - I mean it was so bad. Insurance wouldn't pay for any of it. She worked a full time job and paid her way in life, but the surgery was going to be upwards of 30,000. Most average people can't just pull their-self up by the bootstraps and drop 30,000. She was in massive pain because of it. I didn't know people had those kinds of issues, but it was terrible. The doctor started sending pictures to the insurance company and just wouldn't let up. They finally agreed to pay for part of it, and her friends and family helped by pitching in some money too, and she paid for the rest. She most certainly didn't expect anyone to pay for her surgery or feel entitled to it, but was damn grateful for the help. I guess it was an old school go fund me - we all just talked to each other about how we could help her.
  12. I had a hard time adjusting once we went to Freestyle, but I was already at my goal weight. I actually found it easier to maintain counting everything rather than the new plan. If you are a healthy eater to start with I think it can become way to easy to overeat those things like salmon and even chicken. I had to go back to portion sizes for my "free" meats to keep myself in check. I think if a person eats out a lot or tends to eat more high calorie/high sugar/high fat foods that this is great, but if you have already adopted a healthy lifestyle you need to watch that you don't eat more just because you can. So I think it would work for anyone, no matter how much you have to lose - you just have to know your lane and what your weaknesses may be.
  13. Good job on the loss! I don't have near the skin issues that I thought I would. I'm 47 and have a little in my arms, but most wouldn't notice unless I pointed it out to them. QUOF, I had an experience in Torrid that really ticked me off. I went there a lot when I was heavier because their clothes don't look like they were made for an 80 year old. Well their bras still fit and I LOVE their strapless, so I went in to get one and the sales lady pretty much bombarded me at the door with a sarcastic "We don't have anything here that will fit you" and a disgusted look. I was PISSED. I mean I could have been buying someone a present. I complained to corporate about it and got a nice sized coupon. I'll buy my bras online from them now.
  14. You can do online only now, and it's much cheaper if you aren't a meeting person. What a lot of people do is they do online until they get about 10 pounds from their goal then they switch to meetings. You have to be a meeting member to get "lifetime" status and all the app stuff for free, so they switch just to not have to pay anymore. I'm basically an online person - I don't do the meetings much and show up once a month to keep my App free.
  15. I track it on my phone with the Weight Watchers App. I absolutely love it. It's the only thing that has ever worked and worked for a long time for me. If I don't track, I gain. So I track, and always will.
  16. I'm coming up to a year maintaining my goal weight (well 5 pounds under), and let me tell you what - it is in some ways harder than the actual losing part! I did not expect that AT ALL. I mean mathematically I was probably between a 5,000-7000 calorie deficit every week while I was losing, so to stop losing you eat that. It is hard to find that balance when you have more leeway in your diet plan. I can see why the pre-packaged food diet plans don't have a great track record for success after the losing phase. It really is like walking a very skinny tightrope.
  17. She hasn't had all the skin removal surgery done yet, so she easily could have had a lot of poundage in skin on her still. I'm 5'8 and weigh 150. If I lost any more I would look sickly for sure. I've been at my goal weight for over a year now, and have no desire to lose any more. I lost my weight doing Weight Watchers, and I still attend the meetings once a month to keep my app (that I LOVE) free, and it never ceases to amaze me the same people sitting in those chairs from when I first started a year and a half ago that still look the same or bigger. I try not to be judgmental, but when they start spouting out their sage advice to the new ones I can't help but think who the hell are they to tell these people what to do? I kind of felt the same way about Melissa and her desire to do public speaking. Yes, she's come a long way, but she needs to get her crap together more before she could even consider a career with that. I mean she can only hold up that skirt so many times. I remember when I first saw her show and thought she should get rid of her husband back then. He was a total tool. Nope, she just kept popping out kids with him.
  18. It's been a struggle this season but I've held on. I'm team anyone but the blue haired chick. It's sad that after all this time I still don't really know any of their names.
  19. They aren't taking care of them though. They are helping to kill them. Absolutely. Let's see if they get 2 dozen eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy in prison for a snack.
  20. I really wish the show would show us what happens when these people don't get the type of food they want. I mean in almost every case they say "Oh if we don't give them what they want then life is going to be miserable." Seriously? I mean especially the ones that are immobile. Just leave. Turn up the TV or music or whatever. I just don't see how someone stuck in a bed can make life all that miserable for someone that can just walk the hell away.
  21. Sarah said she was the only overweight sibling, so I'm assuming it was just Sarah that had an issue with food. The mom looked bigger in the early pictures, but not as big as she is now. Kicking the heroin habit probably did that. My siblings are both super obese and I'm a healthy weight, but I have to work at it because I do not want to be a super obese person. The eat fast food ALL THE TIME. If I eat fast food it's like I'm eating poison I get so sick. I've never been a big fast food person, but once I started really getting into cooking I get deathly ill from that and some processed foods. Makes you wonder what it is doing to people's bodies that live off that crap and are used to it. I have empathy for Sarah for having a sucky childhood, but there comes a time when you have to take responsibility for your own actions. I wanted to reach through the TV and smack her when she was complaining about her Mom's driving. Really? This woman is moving with you to another state because you can't seem to not eat like 10,000 calories a day and you are going to act like that? I think most of the show she came across and entitled and ungrateful. What an ugly mixture.
  22. Robert reminded me of my friend's husband so much it made it hard for me to feel to bad for him (although I didn't want to see him die). He sings her praises and how he loves her and how he would just do anything for her, but the minute he is not getting what he wants, the minute he thinks she is thinking for herself, he has a big baby fit like he did over the stupid freakin' chicken wing. If he wouldn't have died I think we would have seen much, much more of that, especially considering how she said he was being so cruel in the hospital to everyone. They didn't show that out of respect I suppose. That being said I think they handled this show well. If they showed any rages they would be considered monsters, and he isn't around to defend himself anymore. I think it is important that they aired this episode. Dr. Now totally hit the nail on the head with how they just over-medicate obese people or don't listen to them instead of finding the underlying problem. Look I know a lot of these people have caused their own fate, but it doesn't mean that they don't have real issues. A friend of mine kept swelling up and his doctor told him to go on this diet. Turned out he had acute heart failure and almost died. He urinated SEVENTY FIVE pounds of urine while in the hospital. the doctor assumed because he was obese that he had just ate his way to gaining that much weight, even though most humans cannot gain 75 pounds in a couple of months. Dr. Now kept saying Robert didn't realize how urgent his condition was, and I don't think we as viewers did either because we hear that so much on the show, and never really saw the consequences of it.
  23. I'm sorry to see Bryn go, just for the "If I ever see a sandcastle I'm going to kick it over" line. lol I think they should have sent Abby packing, but that's just because I thought she should have went last week. Lindsey is my fav, and I hate to say it for fear of jinxing it, but I think she has this in the bag wish Alex and Abby as her competition. Bryn would have given her more of a run for her money I think. As far as the rice crispy treats...I make some junkyard ones with pretzels & M&M's & nuts & chocolate chips & caramel & sea salt and people BEG me to make them. They can be really delicious.
  24. Me too. Seemed like the same deadpan act we've been seeing from the actor the whole time. I really love that even though it might not be real, the story of Jeff Trail was told. It was heartbreaking but needs to be heard, now more than ever.
  25. True story....A friend of mine had gastric bypass in Mexico. It was way cheaper, there was no size limit (in US you need to be 100 pounds over your healthy weight, she was at 80), and definitely no psych exam. She would have to gain 20 pounds and go through psychological testing and lose a certain number of pounds before she got it done in the US. She didn't want to gain or go to therapy so she went to Mexico. She had to freakin walk in the operating room. She wasn't prepped before and was terrified because the room was obviously not sterile. She was desperate so she did it. Lost the weight and then after a couple of years has put every last pound back on.
