  1. Okay so if Max has to have sex with Liz to get over his whole unbalanced thing we will know they picked up a couple of bad fanfic writers for the show. In fact I'm kind of betting on that is exactly what will happened LOL. I'm glad it seems that Alex is truly out and it's not being hidden. If they are going to do gay on this show it's refreshing if they make it where the person doesn't feel like they have to hide. I still can't stand Liz and don't think she has any chemistry with Max at all. I was semi interested in the Rosa story, but after this episode it just seems like Rosa was a big a hole.
  2. I have an ooooold pair of size 10's that are a little baggy on me. Vanity sizing is real. Most jeans now I buy a six, but I found a pair of Jordache! jeans at Goodwill and they were also a 10 and were skin freakin' tight! Triple D's here. On top of people thinking I should weigh less they assume I have breast implants. It'd be nice if people could just not worry about women's bodies.
  3. I think the world view of what women weigh is really squewed. I lost about 65 pounds a couple of years ago and weigh 155. At 5'8 I wear a size 6. Granted I probably have 10 pounds worth of boobage, but it still shocks people what I weigh. I had a guy actually ask me what I weighed at work. After getting over the shock of it all I told him, and his exact words were "there's no way you weight that much. You are skinny, not fat at all." Aside from being ignorant enough to ask me, and rude enough to comment back like that, I've found that most people are like him. I think we are conditioned to think that women who are thin weight 110-120, which might be the case if they are 5'2. As for the WLS, I had a friend actually GAIN weight on purpose so she could get it. I don't know if the guidelines have changed, but back then you had to be 100 pounds over a healthy weight for your height to qualify. She was only 85 pounds over so she ate like no tomorrow to be able to get it. That was back in the day when that Wilson Phillips chick was spouting it as the end all be all of weight loss and most thought it was just some magic pill. Sadly she has had a lot of problems since then and regained all the weight + some friends.
  4. I didn't like Katherine Heigl, but I thought she did an awesome job as Isabel. I think the actress playing Max's partner would have made a better Isabel. On a superficial note while the actress playing her is pretty, Isabel is supposed to be a drop dead gorgeous goddess and she just isn't that. I can't seem to see anything but that big mole on the side of her nose.
  5. I am glad that it seems Alex wasn't closeted per his conversation with Maria. Perhaps Michael is the one that hides it? In other news, we have a mobile dog grooming service called The Regale Beagle that I used to use when my dog was alive, and I smile every time I see your screen name :)
  6. Hell Rosa is more interesting than almost all the characters that are alive...lol
  7. Yes I realize that. I meant it would be more than a casual thing because it was obvious that she has a thing for him.
  8. Okay, so I'll give it one more to see if I can hate watch or maybe even like this show. I don't find any of the characters actually likable except for maybe Maria, but so far she seems to be regulated to being behind the bar dishing out random advice. I will totally have to view this as a completely new show with completely new characters. They've done a good job of destroying everything that was loved about the OG, and if you look at it like these are not based on the same people in the books or the OG it does have potential for a scifi type show. If the actors can get their legs under them in the next couple of episodes that would help. Liz seems like she's being played by someone from community theater. There were some good scenes, but so many more that were just wooden. I think someone in the Pilot thread said she's from some reality show so many she just needs some acting classes. I don't buy the whole she was afraid of Max. I really, really hate when shows make something that in real life would be completely resolved by a conversation and make it into a big deal that causes conflict and problems for the whole season. I don't buy that Liz would be afraid of Max at this point. If he wouldn't have saved her life, shown her exactly how he has felt about her for over a decade, and then turned around and saved her Father's life maybe. Then she goes and outs him to Kyle. In the original I know Liz told Maria and Alex, but it was because her back was against the wall both times. This Liz is an ass. Speaking of asses, I think it was pretty clear that Max's partner has a thing for him, and it would be more than just "blowing off some steam". He is an ass for taking advantage of the situation just to make himself feel better. What, all because Liz didn't want to kiss him? Boo freakin' hoo. What a complete jerk.
  9. A good friend of mine called me after she read Twilight and was all "OMG this lady ripped off Roswell and switched the aliens with vampires!"
  10. Almost every person I know that had the surgery has gained their weight back, or at least are not at a healthy weight now. It's sad. They thought it was a magic pill and would cure everything. My friend's Mom had the surgery and sat at Bob Evans eating a spoon of gravy every 15 minutes until she stretched her stomach back out. She seriously only ended up losing like 20 pounds and then promptly gained it back. She passed away when my friend was 8 months pregnant with her first child a year after her surgery. I just can't with the man child. He is emotionally stuck as a 12 year old because everyone treats him like a 12 year old.
  11. I lost over 65 pounds a couple of years ago and eat a pretty clean diet. Fast food and most chain restaurant foods taste like nothing but salt and grease to me now.
  12. I'm thinking Rosa's death had something to do with the aliens. It seemed like Isabelle was adamant about not doing that anymore, so my train of thought went to the fact that maybe Rosa wasn't mentally ill at all and the aliens accidentally damaged her.
  13. and http://www.roswellfanatics.net/ That one is still alive and kicking with fan fic. I have a few old fanfics still in rotation over there...lol I check it out every couple of years and am always surprised to see it still thriving!
  14. Well I had high hopes but unfortunately this pilot smashed them back down to Earth. In full disclosure I am a die hard liberal, and even I was rolling my eyes at the heavy handedness of this show. I felt battered by the time I was done watching from being hit over the head with so many different issues stuffed into one pilot. I'm also a big fan of the original, and while I knew this would be different you would think it would have at least part of the same vibe. Max is average at best with the charisma of a tree stump. Liz was totally unlikable and Isabelle is wooden. Alex's kind and nerdy character always brought a balance to the show, and I hate that Maria's character seems to be regulated to the sidelines. No matter what you thought of Max/Liz, Michael/ Maria, or any of the other couples Liz and Maria's enduring friendship was one of the best parts of the show. I know that part might be able to come out more in the future of the show, but considering how bad they've screwed up so far I don't hold out much hope. When I have more time I'll tell y'all how I really feel....lol
  15. I cannot even begin to count the amount of my friends who have asked me if I heard about this new show called "You". They are all shocked when I tell them I watched it back in the fall on Lifetime...lol
  16. You mean like this? I have a very happy life :)
  17. I was shocked when he said they don't need it for the first part. My siblings are just an injury away from becoming participants on this show unfortunately. They went to some educational meeting a couple of years ago for gastric, and they had to start therapy and lose "X" number of pounds before getting the surgery. They both decided not do it when they saw how little they would be able to eat. If we go to a buffet they eat more in one sitting than I do in a week, but they'll both swear I got the good genes in the family....
  18. So many people have misinformation about nutrition. I've learned a lot about it over the years, and am a WW Lifetime member. I lost over 75 pounds to get to goal and have been there for a couple of years. A friend of mine wanted to join, and was simply dumbfounded that butter was so many calories/points. After the first week she said "Well I guess it isn't just genetics" lol. Her diet had been horrible and WW opened her eyes big time. She got to her goal weight too :) I'm sure Octavia had a bunch of cheat days. I'm wondering if she had a scale that would weigh her at her apartment. A lot of times when you are losing you can cheat a bit, and it doesn't show up that week. It will show up eventually, because Math. Anyway, they think "Oh I got away with it this week, so I can do it again!" Most people I know that have suffered from the "I don't know why I'm not losing anymore" are doing some variation of this.
  19. One of the seasons they actually broke the top of a woman's show stopper!
  20. Now that I know they just get a day or two between "weeks" I can give them a pass for not being as up to par as their British counterparts. They know what they will be making a whole week ahead of time and can practice vs. people away from home with a day? It is unfair to compare the two. I felt like I've watched The Holiday Baking show on Food Network too much because I kept hearing Nancy freakin' Fuller in my head saying "Where's the holiday?" A flower pot sculpture? Come on.
  21. Not usually but last year they did. They made them make mini desserts. I almost think if it was going really good so they threw a twist in to shake it up.
  22. That was driving me crazy. Usually I'm pretty decent and figuring out where I saw these people before, and I cannot place which one Aaron was on. I think he got far too, but I can't remember which one he was on! I also was left scratching my head when Mrs. Claus wasn't featured on some of their cookies. She's actually one of the easier Christmas characters to do free hand. I want to see this show just once with a good amount of time for them to create just so I can see if these people can really do what is on their websites or if it took them forever and they photoshopped the pictures to death.
  23. I went down the rabbit hole on Netflix and rewatched some of the old episodes just to see if I was crazy thinking this episode was dumbed down for the Americans. Turns out the challenges are quite alike, just the bakers put out far better product. Yes, there were some that had bombs but each season had at least 4 or 5 rock stars from the start. It makes me wonder about how long the American vs. British versions take to film. I know the British show films once a week, which means the contest last at least 2 months. I don't think many people could leave their lives totally for 2 months, let alone for a contest with no real monetary prize, so I wonder if the American version films faster. It also would be much easier to practice at your home rather than a hotel or where ever they stay. I wonder if that's the key to why the American version pales in comparison?
  24. This seemed completely dumbed down compared to the British version. The three rounds were so much simpler on this show. Pastry week is usually killer and we had eclairs? Really?
  25. Anyone else watch this? There's no forum for it, but I don't think it is that many episodes. I almost felt like it was a completely dumbed down version from the British version. Four hours to make eclairs? Wow. The results were less than impressive.
