  1. I cannot draw to save my life but I can pipe me some designs. I think it's because when you do it you are breaking it down into basic shapes, not really drawing. I had no idea until I helped my nephew with some wedding cookies for his wedding shower. Whodathunkit? That was 3 years ago and I can make all kinds of stuff now. I made a better truck but made the door like a wood grain. I'm horrible and forget to take pics.
  2. Butterscotch Chocolate Chip sound divine! My decorated sugar cookies so far this year:
  3. It always cracks me up when they have a huge flaw and think the judges won't notice. After going a round of judging with that horrid bitch in the middle you would think she'd know there was no way she was getting out of that one without a comment. I hope they don't have that judge back. I'm a big fan of constructive criticism, but that lady was just down right rude and high handed. The people that don't like Lorraine on Holiday Baking need to check this woman out - she makes Lorraine look like a shrinking violet.
  4. If this doesn't prove there is some kind of fix in I don't know what would. Don't get me wrong out of the two I also would rather see Doug continue, but there is no way in hell Dan's was worse than that half full gelatinous mess that was Doug's dessert. They are supposed to start with a clean slate each round, but that was obviously not true here. They don't get to see the critiques of the other people's desserts, so Dan probably assumed Doug's was delicious. He had to be PISSED when he watched this last night. Lerome is my dude to win, but I must admit that Sarah is consistently doing better and better. I really like this group.
  5. Doesn't everyone? :)
  6. Freezing actually traps the moisture in the cake. When I make cupcakes I wrap them in plastic wrap as soon as I can bare to touch them and throw them in the freezer. The fridge will dry them out, but the freezer stops it and traps all that steam coming out of them inside the cake. Makes them super moist! Although I thought it was very well done I also didn't think Doug's cake had anything to do with the holiday season. It was a smart decision though because for the hand painting challenge that was by far the easiest look to achieve. I like the girl who is not Chantal's cake the best. I still don't know all these people's names...lol
  7. Phew I was afraid Lamore was going to get the boot. So far in this competition he's making the deserts I want to eat, so I'd hate to see him go. I wonder if his strengths don't lie in design, which would be a shame because in that finale looks have won over taste every season. Holy Jolly Erin proved that with her awful tasting gingerbread that looked awesome. Julia wasn't portrayed as a big A-Hole like she was on the cookie show, so at least she got to come back on TV and not be a pompous ass this time around. That's a win for her. I really like all of the contestants that are left. I don't know what it is but ever since season 4 it doesn't seem like they do as much actual "baking". Sure last nights episode they had to make a cake, but it seems like there is a lot of making a simple crust with a custard or mousse. I think the show has been trying to have more challenging bakes, forcing the contestants to do that kind of stuff in the time period. I don't see why they don't realize that baking in itself is it's own drama. You can make something a hundred times and 101 have it fail.
  8. There are people that are just naturally different, and then there are people that try to act different because they want attention. That annoying ass woman obviously fell in the trying to get attention category. I wish they would have a challenge on here that gave them the actual time you need to make a beautifully decorated cookie just to see what their chops really are.
  9. That was about stupid! A pro could make a component for the dessert in 10 minutes. Hell I could make a component for a dessert in 10 minutes.. The lady that left bugged the ever loving crap out of me, so I'm okay with the fact that she was royally screwed and in a no win situation lol
  10. I can't imagine where they are going to take it, but I know one thing - I can't stand a season of that actress calling him bunny...
  11. I don't think I've ever wanted anyone to lose so badly as I did in her episode. She was a complete a-hole on that show. They just reran it the other night and I remembered where I saw her from and how much I couldn't stand her.
  12. I've got to hand it to Penn. The way his monologue changed in this episode from Charming to downright creepy was genius. I also liked Beck's internal monologue when she was writing. It was so true to the times. During most of this season I think a lot of people thought she deserved what she was getting just because of the way she looked and the way she acted. Sound familiar?
  13. Wasn't Dan just on one of the Spring Baking Championship shows? I wonder why Food Network has to bring back these people that were just competitors as judges?
  14. I was thinking the new female judge would be alright and then we got the cutie tootie comment. I didn't yell either but my eyes almost rolled out of my head. Love the surprise on the booted faces. That one girl with her stringy hair and double dipping and rubbing snot off with her hand. OMG I can't imagine anyone would pay a visit to her bakery after watching this show!
  15. Brigadeiro ganache. It is awesome. I've only made Brigadeiro truffles, never used it as a ganache but I'm sure it's just as amazing.
  16. I think they pretty much insinuated that Mooney molested him at the very least with this episode. When Joe went to him and confessed what he did to the dude that signed Candance he told him to undress, so I was thinking he must have beaten the dude to a pulp or something. Turns out he just pushed him off a roof, so getting rid of clothes or anything like that would be totally unnecessary. I think they showed us that and the creepy hug to let us know he did quite a bit of damage to Joe.
  17. It was like she wanted to make a zombie even though she had a ghost theme and it turned out looking like a mermaid so she called it the ghost of a zombie mermaid. Idiotic. I liked Lindsey too and wanted her to win.
  18. This is definitely not a show like The Great British Baking Show. Even on that show where they know what they will be making and have a whole week to practice people run out of time. I take this show for what it is - a game show.
  19. I assumed that he didn't shoot her, he killed her another way. He just got the gun away from her and it went off. That's the way I saw it.
  20. I have to say that Gingerbread show is about as entertaining as watching paint dry.....
  21. He was in the holiday baking championship. I think it was season 2 the one where Mauve won. He was in the finals and did a cake based on caroling I believe.
  22. That Jason dude that won the Holiday Baking one said it is filmed over like a week and a half period, not every week. I read an interview he did and he didn't even tell anyone he was competing, that he just said he was going on vacation or something.
  23. Bigger people burn a lot more calories just to live. To put it into perspective, my best friend and her hubby lived with me for a while. He is very large, probably pushing 400 at 5'10. We all got fitbits, and his wife and I on a lazy day probably burned about 1800 calories. He was at almost 5,000 in the afternoon and got embarrassed and took it off, claiming it had to be wrong because he didn't eat that much, so who knows how much it would have been if he wore it all day. He's a drinker and a big eater, and also had a car full of fast food bags, so I believe he ate that much. I know there can be genetic conditions out there but no matter the cause we are overweight because we eat more calories then our bodies burn. His wife and I both got to our goal weights and have maintained for a year now. I lost 65 pounds and she lost 40. To lose a pound you have to have a deficit of 3,500 calories, so someone large on a 1200 calorie a day diet is going to drop it like it's hot until they get smaller because they burn so many more calories just existing.
  24. Sherry Yard and Ron Ben-Israel were awesome! That was a great season except it had that mohawk guy that makes the rounds of all the baking competitions who is super super annoying. I think his name is Jason and FN must have been trying to make him happen or something with how many shows he was on.
  25. I think you're right - he did. He also had zero problems disposing of the body as opposed to the show which had him throwing up and acting like it made him sick. I think they are trying to make him more sympathetic for the TeeVee crowd.
