  1. I am not fussy and generally like most episodes. I am working on my and my husband’s family trees and I can relate to so much that is found in the more personal and more historical episodes. The thing that stood out to me about Hilary Duff’s, other than how cool it was so be able to trace back so far, was where the went in Scotland/where Robert the Bruce is buried, is where I believe my 3x great grandparents came from. So for me it was cool to see a bit of the town.
  2. So sad about it, although not surprised. Really enjoyed this show. One of the few that I bother to tape. I learned so much and just enjoyed the break from all the bad news and scary stuff that seems to be everywhere right now. I thank them all and wish them well. Hope the cast and crew keep going strong in whatever they do next.
  3. By walkability I assume they mean shops, restaurants, coffee houses, etc are all easily walkable to. Makes a huge difference to be able to walk instead of take a car out and deal with parking issues/prices. They are lucky to have the budget they did. It really can be crazy expensive to live in/near Boston. Nice couple, I enjoyed the episode.
  4. Yes it looked like tandem parking. Which I cannot imagine dealing with, but at the same time parking AND a garage of any type in Brookline? Gold! Parking spaces, just a space, sell for big $ in and around Boston.
  5. That was awesome! We had the Cosby verdict break in so thanks for posting.
  6. My guesses for Tampa judge and his budget included frugal, expensive divorce, and a love to spend his money on toys like boats instead of on housing.
  7. I feel all alone because I really enjoyed this episode. I loved the flash scenes of childbirth, goodnight moon, cooking, abuse, etc. All human experiences that are the same but different. I don’t mind that This is Us continues to explore periferal characters and expect the show continue to do that. I really enjoyed it when Deja was talking to Randall about how everyone sleeps because I do that, too. I find it so interesting how different it sometimes feels like people are, but basic human experiences still connect us. Maybe that is why I seem to have enjoyed this episode more than others.
  8. Honestly I thought she was playing the role she was assigned. They seemed to have a great relationship so guessing she isn’t as bad as she came across.
  9. Not sure what to think of the ending or where the show is going. Will she go to jail? Does the judge just accept her pleading guilty? Was all/part of this a hallucination? No idea i do like her with Nathanial. It’s probably the most honest relationship either has ever had. And I’m happy he broke up with Mona. It will hurt her now but she is much better off. Loved the little “settle for me” music between the two. Now for my biggest question. Where the hell was Darryl’s daughter?????
  10. Never even heard of bbc2 so guessing we don’t get it either. Boo!
  11. I agree. I’m a typical American mutt...English, Scottish, Irish, also German, Swiss, Norwegian (can you tell I don’t tan easily? Lol). All of my ancestors were probably prejudiced against other of my ancestors and no doubt some groups oppressed others. I can’t even imagine if I adopted all their historic guilt. I have Catholics and Protestants too. Yep, even brothers who fought on opposite sides of the civil war. But somehow they all came together and here I am! I think Victoria is doing a fair job of showing the prejudices of the day and all the opposing views. I love the real people that are sprinkled throughout the series. I know they are often a bit historically inaccurate but they interest me enough to go researching more on them. Dr Traill was very interesting. And it was cool to see the chef was real too!
  12. I would not expect that since she has a good job. If she left it, she would be a burden to her family. They emigrated, most likely to NYC or Boston, will likely be living in tenements with plenty of prejudice to work through as they try to find jobs and sort themselves out. Passage was not cheap either, she and they would be better off if she kept her job and sent them money to help out if possible while they get on their feet. On a personal level, my family came to America pre-Revolution for the English/Irish/Scots side at least, but my husband has ancesters that came over from the famine. My MIL has said that family lore isn’t that her (however many great) grandparents came over, but her (however many times) great grandfather hated Boston so much he went back to Ireland and no one heard from him again. I just have such a hard time believing anyone would go back. Not if they were poor at least. My guess is he just left and went to NYC or some other place he didn’t have to cross an ocean for.
  13. I grew up in Southern California and we definitely had screens (even if we didn’t have mosquitoes). But when I moved to the northeast one thing I learned was that most people remove their screens for the winter. It’s amazing how much more light the windows let in when they are screen free! So it could be a nod to winter, or could be easier to film. Either works for me!
  14. Loved this couch! Who knew all those years ago when I was a kid watching Bosom Buddies just how much I would grow to love Tom Hanks. He seems like such a nice person, and I really hope he is as genuine as he comes across. Kassygreene, I, too, remember when we were GN-less and it was awful. I also remember when bbc America had tons of awesome British shows on it. What on earth happened to it????
  15. I’ve actually completely avoided reading the details of what he did. I know nothing. I’m just so sad because I liked him for all the same reasons you listed.
  16. Michael is done with the initial 21 Days, but he is introducing foods in slowly and singly so he can figure out his triggers. So I would expect for the time being to see him still avoiding certain ingredients.
  17. Definitely A Room with a View flashbacks with the bathing scene and I loved it. And for the birds I instantly thought Gigi when her aunt was teaching her to eat them. Only time I remember hearing of them. Jenna is luminous.
  18. Carla’s pie crust is simple and amazing.
  19. I agree. I admire how well the 3 are doing, but I really miss Mario and Daphne. I realize I like several voices on this show. The chew has always been must see viewing for me, always a bright spot in the midst of often troubling times. I’m so sad because it not only feels like it is coming to an end, but it feels like a shadow of its former self.
  20. I couldn’t remember when/where it came up. Must be time for another re-read! Lol. I was just thinking about it and wondering if it will be included.
  21. So speculating a bit here. In the show they didn’t really make reference to the oaths the Highlander’s has to make about loyalty to the crown/not taking up arms against the English. Am I wrong? I don’t remember it. It was such a point in the colonies, I wonder if it won’t come up? Any thoughts? Reading the unsullied they all seem to automatically assume the Highlanders will automatically be rebel’s.
  22. Thanks Haleth. Guess I can cross GOT off my summer list. Sniff. Back to the episode, I forgot to add how much I loved Claire seeing the similarity with the dancers in Scotland that she and Frank watched to the Jamaican one she and Jamie watched. Interesting that she was with both husbands! Thinking back to LJG and Capt/Lt Leonard, part of me also went to Jamie’s handling of LJG back in the first season. Another young boy who learned an invaluable lesson from an older and wiser man! LOVED the fife and drums final credits. Woot! Bring on season 4!!!!
  23. I guess I am one of the few who liked the boat sex scene. And I was good with how all the Jamaica stuff wrapped up. I was not looking for any longer there. It felt like once they were on the boat it was a reset, the start of their new life together and I liked that pause. Thought the changes to Margaret/Y Tien Cho were great. Her reading of Jamie/Claire/Bree channeling really worked for me! And dear god, give Lord John a spin off already! I whistle past a ton but I do wish they showed Claire take a breath while floating on the wood. I see a lot of people comparing that to Jack and Rose but I saw Christ imagery and thought it was a nice nod to the religious stuff they mostly leave out from the books. Loved the eye of the storm shot too. my husband was traveling last week so I binged the season over a couple of days and find it to be so strong overall. Part of me wishes they would release it all at once, like Netflix does. Can’t wait for next season!!! (Side note, is GOT really not back till 2019???)
  24. That’s probably a question that comes with a variety of answers based on the person. I will say Voyager has some of my favorite, as well as least favorite, parts. I am not a big fan of the wacky sea voyage and Jamaica stuff personally, although some of it is good and will mean more later. I love a lot of what is to come. In a way I divide the books (in my mind) into two parts...the trilogy that is the first 3, and then the rest. My favorite will probably always be Outlander, but there is so much good as the books go on too.
