  1. Oh that makes me so sad. I miss this show every day, but especially now with the holidays upon us
  2. I just finished and liked it more than I expected to. I had even told my husband this was an episode to power through, it’s the next few I’m excited about. I thought they did a great job showing the impossibility of staying at river run, the horror of slavery and even good intentions often aren’t enough. My heart broke for Rufus. I loved meeting Jocosta, Ulysses, Phaedra, etc. And young Ian was finally young Ian to me! I can’t wait for next week with Bree and Roger and Frasier’s Ridge!
  3. See I don’t think Claire and Jamie look too young. I am probably Claire’s age in this, my husband is Jamie’s. I actually thought they looked really good/age appropriate. Claire might even look a wee bit older than me. Or maybe I’m just delusional ?
  4. Ok, finished my second viewing and I liked it much better. Liked the American Dream conversation. I agree Claire is romanticizing here, but in a way we all do it when we start a new and uncertain venture. And yes, she knows the history as it was settled, not thinking fully on the real daily dangers they might face. The ending on the boat still worked for me. Catriona rocked it....was truly impressed. There are some bits that seem awkward to me, but I loved the song in the tavern. I agree with those saying it’s those small bits that make things special. One thing that doesn’t work for me, as much as I loved it, was the sex scene. It seemed incredibly implausible to me that Jamie would have let his guard down that night after being warned by Bonnet, a confessed theif, that the woods weren’t safe. Again, a beautiful scene. Just wish that line saying it wasn’t safe wasn’t there. Maybe say it wasn’t safe on the river so be aware once they started on it? And yes, I know Jamie said let’s find a safe place to stay the night, but how was that bit of woods he picked safe?
  5. I watched early this morning and will rewatch later with my husband this afternoon. Honestly I was iffy on this one. I even ff through parts, knowing I would rewatch later. Still far different than when I used to watch and watch and watch again! I loved the first season so much, I’m not sure exactly what is missing for me. Someone upthread mentioned them ticking off numbers of events. Not sure, maybe that’s it? I loved Rollo, and am getting used to Ian still (love the actor, he’s doing a great job, just so different to my image of book Ian). I thought the actor playing Bonnet (boo! Hiss) is doing a great job of balancing menace with charm. And yes to the Heath Ledger shoutout! Am curious to see how I react to the second viewing later. Curious as to the reaction of my non book reader husband, too. He’s losing interest as it is so not sure he will last the season. He keeps asking if Claire and Jamie just keep losing each other and finding each other and losing each other. Lol. It must seem like that without all of the book filler between lost and found! I’m so looking forward to them getting to Frasier’s Ridge! I miss Scotland so much, maybe that will help having them find home and community again. And I look forward to Roger and Bree. Hoping Sophie has sharpened her skills. Working with Rik should be like a master class. There really is just so much book to tell. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.
  6. I am just reading on Twitter that Laura Donnally isn’t in season 4 at all. I know she has been very busy and am so happy for her, but I will miss Jenny so much! So do we think Bree isn’t going to be shown going to Lallybroch? Or will they just work around Jenny’s absence? Also, has there been a list of episode titles for the season? One more sleep!!!!!
  7. Janet’s “bing” had me laughing so hard. As a kid my friends and I used to play Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie” and used to do something very similar as we twitched our noses or went from our bottle to different places. So funny to see Janet doing the same thing!
  8. Omg! I had to leave before that part of the show. I was not expecting it to look quite like that.
  9. I only got a chance to see half of it live and it made me so happy!!!!! I watched via Facebook with no problems. Loved seeing them all again, and the cherry on top was Mary running around.
  10. I find I struggle with it sometimes in Outlander, too. I loved the choice early on to have swing music in Claire scenes because it made sense, it would be the music in her head, etc. But the modern song as Jamie left Willie and headed for home jarred me out of the story completely. I find my reaction interesting because I am a HUGE Peaky Blinders fan. The modern music works completely for me there.
  11. One thing I was thinking about with the Roger mixup is it can’t go on for as long as in the book. Because of episode constraints, it will likely happen but be wrapped up fairly quickly, right?
  12. Good point. Also, I honestly don’t think non book readers really understand how difficult it is on a person to travel too/from different times. So I would almost bet most expect Bree to want to meet Jamie. I wish I knew any non book readers to poll.
  13. I came across him too. So much fun! And now the cast is going to join his livestream on Halloween!!!!! What a ride he has been on since opening this Pandora’s box.
  14. Thank you so much, Nidratime! I’m not looking to be too spoiled but I’m glad to know Brianna and Roger arent in the first episode. I know it is unpopular but I love them, and really love their time when he comes to Boston. So now I won’t feel disappointed that they aren’t in it. Looking forward to seeing how they translate this book into tv form!
  15. Woke up this morning to the new credits on Twitter!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Of course nothing beats the original bagpipes, but so good!!!!
  16. I haven’t watched yet but will this weekend. I am really going to miss this show and hope reruns can be found somewhere someday. I can’t believe it’s over. Sniff.
  17. PIngaponga Brianna believes having that tie helps you stear to where you want to go. When Claire chose to go through the stones she was able to get back to Frank at the right time, same when she went back to Jamie. The stones may help you survive the journey, but having someone to get to gets you to where you want to be. I go back and forth with Claire’s first trip. Did she somehow “know” Jamie subconsciously and stear that way, or was she somehow thinking about Jack after Frank’s stories?
  18. I almost deleted the Costa Rica episode because for some reason South American/Central American episodes tend to bore me. I’m glad I didn’t. What a delightful family! The girls were adorable and the parents seemed to be fun and adventurous, with great attitudes. What a life they are leading!
  19. YES!!! Although to be honest he is not really looking forward to next season. He will watch, but says it is too much of them losing each other/finding each other/losing each other (or being torn apart from each other). Which honestly is in the books but there is so much more to the books. Condensing them into the show really highlights this.
  20. I was surprised too. And saddened. But I guess I knew it was coming.
  21. I agree, Emily Thrace! I also have noticed in real life some people seem to relate to those further back and some just don’t feel a connection. I’ve been working on my and my husband’s family trees and he really is t all that interested/doesn’t feel a connection (mostly doing his along with my daughter because she is). I, on the other hand, get really interested and involved with my ancestors. I do feel a connection to them, even the ones I am sure would in reality have little or nothing to do with me if we met up in real time (some huge political divides). I find that in the show too. Some people seem far more into it than others. And some seem to take to heart the history far more than others. I love that it is a mix of old and new stories. Famous and not famous. For me the famous would be more interesting only because the amount of information would be more prolific.
  22. I am really going to miss this bright spot amidst all the dark that seems to be everywhere lately. It was such a lovely, safe space that brought me so much joy. I am horrified by what Mario did but the ending still felt so strange with no references to him or Daphne. Just a really sad ending for the remaining cast and crew. I could feel the love. Hope they all land on their feet and find a similar experience elsewhere.
  23. Omg today’s episode had my laughing until tears were streaming out of my eyes. I’m only up through Carla’s salmon bit. Damn I am going to miss this show.
