Sad news: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/atwt-vet-kathryn-hays-dead-143708327.html I was never a huge fan of the show, but I always liked Kim.

They must have heard the complaints of the multiple people who have stated that these movies should have been miniseries, because that's how they're going to present this one. In fact, it's actually a limited series of four episodes to be aired over as many weeks. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/flowers-attic-origin-trailer-shows-200342292.html

Now, this makes me sad. From everything I saw, they had a very happy marriage

The Annual Academy Awards - General Discussion

The 2020 awards went off hitch-free. The pandemic was brewing but hadn't completely blown up yet. In America at least, the world didn't come to a screeching halt until early March. -

The uncensored version of that "lovely" moment: Yikes. Will. . . -

Exactly. Two wrongs don't make a right. Rock's joke may have been rude and insensitive, but Will taking it to the point of physical violence was uncalled for. As written, call him out verbally, give him a death glare, but hitting him crosses the line -
Congratulations, Billie Eilish on writing the THIRD consecutive Bond song to win the Oscar for Best Song!

Will Smith's "Thank you" speech, complete with apology, was excellent. -

They might as well. When all is said and done, those are basically the only awards most people care about. -

I'm really enjoying the "In Memoriam" segment this year. I'm impressed with the choice of more upbeat songs this year, not to mention the use of a choir instead of an individual singer. -

Ouch. And if Chris Rock didn't know that, then double ouch. Well, it's safe to guess what's going to be on the "worst"/WTF list during the recaps tomorrow. -

I saw it last year and I loved it. Its Oscar is well deserved. Billie Eilish had me crying with her rendition of "No Time To Die". -
It's nice to see an American woman on the podium again (we have a haul of 70-something medals, including five consecutive wins by Carol Heiss and that famous 1991 sweep)

Thank you

The US just won its first pairs world championship title since 1979: https://sports.yahoo.com/u-wins-first-figure-skating-205942008.html (Is there a general figure skating thread? I'm sorry if I've technically posted this in the wrong place, but I couldn't find another one)

Here it is. It's at about 1:15.

I loved this. My favorite moment in a wedding ceremony is when the couple kneels at the altar for the blessing of the marriage, but you never see that depicted on TV (hell, TV leaves out a LOT of what happens in your average ceremony), so I was glad to see that moment for Lucille and Cyril.

The movie just won BAFTAs for Best Editing and Rising Star (Lashana Lynch as Nomi)

Just because? A Deadly Affair is a VERY common trope, both in fiction and real life. I've lost count of the number true crime shows where someone ended up dead because of infidelity, with the cheating spouse/betrayed spouse/lover all playing the part of victim or killer.
