People aren't inherently anything just by virtue of being either single or married. An other-centered life is certainly possible for a single person. In fact many religious orders all over the world in many religious traditions have encouraged being single as a way to free oneself from home responsibility so as to focus on others. That's just like the old assumption that child-free people selfish and immature because they never wanted to have children. Some are, but then again some people have children for selfish reasons too. My husband and I never had kids but we have given of ourselves in other ways in our church, to our greater families, friends, pets and each other. I agree! I think Amber is one of those people that wants people to like her so she wants what she thinks they want. Which is why she dyed her hair blonde. She assumed that most men prefer a blonde woman. She also assumes that most men that want to be married want children so she wants to make herself into that woman for him. She should just be herself and want what she wants if she wants a man to love her for her and not for what she pretends to be.

Amber has sex with Dave twice a day to substitute for the lack of emotional closeness he gives her. Unfortunately, that's not going to work. It's only going to make her feel used and as though he doesn't really like her for anything else but sex. Dave's friend was spot-on about how he needs to find a way to show her how he feels. Words aren't enough. He needs to find a way to show her in a way that she will believe. And that's not rocket science for most guys if they really do have the feelings they say they have for a woman. Tristan thinks Mia is trying to make him look like the bad guy, so he is continually trying to set her up to look like the bad guy and him the good guy. Too bad we all can see for ourselves that she doesn't even have to try, he does just fine making himself look bad without any help. We were all primed to see Tristan as the victim in that relationship from the get-go but it's not Mia that's making him look bad right now. He has only himself to thank for that. Of course he should have left her at the airport, but he shouldn't stay and then think that gives him the excuse to make her pay for her dishonesty to him. Just do the honorable thing and back out gracefully. Otherwise he looks just as bad if not worse than she does! I smell producer manipulation for why Danielle has not said "I love you" to Bobby. It reminds me of other seasons where they made a non-issue into an issue with other successful couples. Like the last name non-issue between Ashley and Anthony. I never believed Anthony really cared about that and I don't believe Danielle hasn't said those three little words to Bobby in private. The show is just messing with us yet again!

They're not inhabiting a whole house so perhaps in total it's smaller, but the space we see on screen when they're doing the show looks pretty much the same size or even larger, considering the room behind them where the cooks are working looks a little more spacious, at least to my eye. https://www.cookscountry.com/episode/598-spaghetti-house-classics -

Unfortunately the intro. music is still the same with that "strummy thing", but the in-show music is different. You can join their website to watch some of the new episodes online. Their free registration allows you to watch the present season without paying. -

I've watched Tony continuously since "A Cook's Tour" on Food Network back in the early 00's. I even saw him in person once when he toured with Eric Ripert. To some degree, yes, he was always a little "that way" (whatever that is) but for me he seems more so in this episode. More inward, not as spontaneous, more serious, less energetic. When he did seem "happy" it felt like it was a real effort for him to manage it. I even feel that there was a difference in his demeanor from the previous episode in Africa. Considering he narrated that one, perhaps some time had elapsed between filming that and this one. I'll have to go back and watch some of the Africa episode with the sound off and see how I feel. Yes! And when they did use music it was very moving, like the shot of the bubbles dancing in the frying pan to the sound of Spanish guitar music. Magical. -

I finally saw a new episode of CC but only because I could view it on their website. My local PBS station hasn't started airing new episodes yet. I didn't think the new studio was any more tiny and certainly not darker than the old one, just different, with white cabinets instead of light green ones. It's kind of lost it's "down homey" country feel not being filmed in an actual house and the set doesn't really replicate that feeling. It's funny that they managed to find a new house for the outdoor shots that kind of resembles the old one, but again, it's somehow not quite as homey and humble as the original one. It didn't really bother me as much as I thought it would, though. The music didn't offend me either, it's just different. I was kind of tired of the old music anyway. -

This episode was the saddest for me yet. I've always loved Jose so this was the most bittersweet thing ever. I loved what the show did with music in the absence of Tony's narration. I feel like this episode should win an award for that alone if not more. Without Tony's voice it was more possible for me focus in on some details more and draw my own conclusions. For the first time in any episode I felt I could see Tony hiding his depression. That next to Jose's pure joy was very hard to take. A very moving experience and yes, it felt like Tony was disappearing right in front of us. -
I agree and I think the turtle imagery is very fitting for Stuart as I've always thought he looks like one, LOL.
-
I've read that his travel schedule was unrelenting and that he must have often been exhausted, which is known to contribute to depression. That plus health issues could have only made his psychological condition worse, so I think you're right about that.

Congrats on your progress - I can relate, I'm 60 and have lost 30 lbs. over the past 2 years. I've plateaued several times and it has often been an intense struggle, but I'm finally under 200 lbs. for the first time in at least 5 years. Since menopause it's felt like an uphill battle all the way. Like you, it's more about health for me at this point than anything else. Don't give up, keep the faith!

Food Network and Cooking Channel: One is about food

"Good Eats Reloaded" will be hosted by Alton. It will be a retrospective on his earlier "Good Eats" series, with his commentary on old episodes, and revamps of some of his old recipes. Each episode will focus on an individual old episode and will include some of the old cast members. Not sure how many episodes it will air or whether it will be ongoing. My guess is that it will be more of the old Alton, not obnoxious judge Alton. This is separate from his new series "Return of the Eats" which will premiere some time next year. This interview with Alton from the Daily Meal on what the show is going to be like is very informative: https://www.thedailymeal.com/eat/alton-brown-interview-good-eats-reloaded Trailer: -
I agree with you about Raj to some degree. Speaking of Lucy, I always hoped they'd meet again and get back together, only the twist would be that in the interim she had gotten therapy for her social anxiety and wouldn't try to escape out of every bathroom window when with him. She was actually more messed up than Raj in some ways and if she came back a little less messed up they could actually work together. I vote for them meeting each other after Raj is 3/4 of the way down the road of an arranged marriage to someone totally unsuited for him.

I still don't get the correlation between greeting the dogs first being an indication that Danielle cares for them more than Bobby. I think they were just in her path first, that's all. Whether she loves them more, (which could be true anyway), is independent of that. Haha, I noticed the Kleenex too!
-
I think her taking any job would be a twist considering the title of this series is "American Housewife", and not "American Working Mom".
-
I agree, I doubt he'd ever get rid of his beloved Wellington or scallops and mourning a person would be too serious for him.
-
My mother would have humorously called Bobby's relationship with Henry "obscene", LOL.
-
It depends on the dogs, I think. My dogs were always rather forward and energetic about greeting me and family at the door and wouldn't take no for an answer. The longer we were away the more ardent and insistent they became. Danielle was away for a few days, which was probably unusual for her and the dogs. Plus Bobby was sitting in another room at the time, or at least on the other side of the room. Why didn't he get up and come greet her at the door himself once he heard the noise? I have wondered why that wasn't the most pertinent question here. But I agree with you that the show re-enacts some scenes like this so we don't know the real timing of things. Also, I just think Danielle is very averse to PDAs, especially on camera. Obviously, we know she's having sex with Bobby so there must be a lot more she's willing to do in private.
-
I don't know, I'm a dog lover from waaaay back and it looked to me like Danielle didn't really have a choice because the dogs were all over her immediately when she walked through the door. There was no way they were going to let her past them without getting her attention first. I don't think she planned it that way.

MAFS Social Media, Spoilers & Speculation

That's exactly what I've been thinking all along. I also thought that's one reason he had such a nice apartment, for the sake of the show and how it would look, knowing the show would be supplementing his income. It's probably out of his price range in reality. He did make mention on-screen at one point that he hadn't been to Houston enough lately and his business needed him there. I think doing this show was at least one reason his business was faltering. I also don't think he's really a nice person given the way he's been acting lately, or maybe he's just looking at the end of his rope from choosing to live in a charade of a relationship, probably for the money alone. -
It's going to be hard to keep track of who's on which team because it isn't boys vs. girls this season and I don't remember some of the second timers. Could it be contestant Paulie Gigante's death in 2017?
-
This episode reminded me of the one where Sheldon and Amy play this bizarre game they call "Counter Factuals", where they jump from one far fetched conclusion to another and somehow come to the same conclusion, and Leonard (and the rest of the world) just doesn't get it.
-
You're right, of course. He'd probably be a great SAHD, but their kids will most likely end up at day care (or Grandma's) because Bobby does have strong feelings about that. I think Bobby is young - young enough that he may change on that in time if Danielle has anything to do with it, and it looks like she will. Some guys seem really entrenched in traditional gender roles but I think he's still "trainable", like my mother would have called it. He doesn't have much LTR experience so Danielle can "break him in" right, LOL.
-
This is basically what I've been saying in earlier episode threads - That when one person in a relationship develops strong feelings before the other one and starts smothering them with attention and goes overboard doing favors to please them, it can scare away the feelings of the other person even if they would under more equitable circumstances develop them. Then that person becomes confused as to whether they love the smitten one or just love all the great stuff they're doing for them. That's where Danielle stands now and it's Bobby's fault. It's not that she's necessarily turned off by it or him, it's just confusing her. That may work out in time, though. She obviously knows she likes him a lot so that's a big plus. I still think Bobby should take a couple of steps back to let Danielle "find her feelings" for him. This is basic couples therapy stuff. Too bad the so-called "experts" on this show aren't up to helping them with that! I've also been repeating the mantra since early on that Bobby's behavior is indicative of insecurity, perhaps even more than Amber has!
-
I guess it's me.....I didn't love this episode. I'm not sure I like the new twist with Katie working as a party planner, although I like the fact that she's gone back to work. I guess I'll see how I feel as the season goes on.

Tristan thought he could get rid of Mia by forcing the move to Houston on her, but she went for it, so he had to find another "reason" to dump her. He hasn't trusted her from day one. He has only stayed in the relationship out of contractual obligation and has only been able to pull off a semi-convincing act that he's all-in with her. Of course we here can see through that. His exaggerated reaction to her response to him cancelling his health insurance was his next attempt to escape the prison of this charade of a relationship. Pastor Cal trying to convince them to stay together is only a finger in the dike. Tristan will find another reason to dump her. Dude should just own up to it if he's not really into her. Why is he forcing himself to look like he's really into her when it's so painfully obvious to anyone with a working brain that he is NOT? I think he is invested in looking like their relationship is going to work out. Maybe he doesn't want to admit defeat or is being pushed into it by the show, but whatever it is, it's obvious that it's only a matter of time until the next time they have a blowout. I think he should have followed his gut and dumped her after he found out about her arrest and she lied to him. No way would any relationship starting off as strangers survive that in "real life".
