  1. When you sign up to have as many kids as possible between three fertile women and one guy, it ain’t denial, you obviously don’t give a shit. “Good father” to these women means successful pregnancy and occasional visits-full stop.
  2. I agree with your assessment, but that wouldn’t create the conflict that so many viewers enjoy and tune in for!!! 😀
  3. Between Janelle, Christine & Meri they pumped out 12 kids in 10 years Logan-94 Aspyn, Mariah & Madison-95 Mykelti-96 Hunter-97 Paedon, Garrison-98 Gabriel & Gwendolyn-01 Ysabel-03 Savannah-04 12 kids stretched over10 years -oldest being 16 and youngest being 6 when we met them in 2010, yeah, I could see there would be a LOT more group outings and family time. Christine was pregnant with Truly, the last of the 13 the original three agreed to breed for him when he announced the courting of a 4th wife who already had 3 kids and would add another 2 on top of that. Even in a monogamous marriage, life is going to change with 16 kids as they grow up and spread their wings. My husband’s grandparents had 11. Just between the two of them. Their oldest daughter & her husband had 15. They weren’t even polygamists! The big kids helped raise the little kids, until they left and had their own. Can you imagine, as a woman, agreeing to having as many kids as possible with one guy and at least 2 other women when all of you are as fertile as you are ever going to be? I mean, I understand the DickTater Kodouche being all in, because obviously these women don’t give a shit about anything other than the sperm donation. But I just can’t get past the brood mare mentality of these women who married him and had all these kids with him…knowing FULL well he’s not going to physically be able to give each and every one of them all the time and attention they deserve. They weren’t all kept in a basement.
  4. Me too!!! I literally caught my breath when Maddy showed up in that work of art! Maybe it’s just me, I’m a sucker for fringe, but I loved how she tied it into Mother Nature bringing the Spring rain. I agree with the above posters that the right Queen went home-Orion’s PSA clips fell flat and she relied too much on that body for her runway. ETA: ETA: WHAT was Deja wearing on the runway? It looked like a folded tablecloth. I also loved Lady Camden’s frock, plus her PSA clips were great and I thought she should have won the 5,000$ tip.
  5. Season 1, Episode 1-I absolutely saw the signs that this would be a shitshow of a freak show, however it ended up. As soon as Kody started introducing his wives. I had to look up their religious sect, the AUB, because I’d never heard of it. As soon as the Mormon-splaining began I knew this was going to be a roller coaster. At the time, the country was choosing sides on the “legality” of marriage between same sex couples. The show was taking the tired old trope of “well if you make marriage anything other than between A man and A woman, what’s next-marrying animals or lampposts or multiple people?” and running with it faster than Oscar Pistorius deciding that was a dangerous intruder he needed to shoot through the door instead of just his girlfriend using the bathroom in the middle of the night and closing the door for a little privacy. ALL the shock and awe was wrapped up at the end of episode 1 when Kody made the big reveal to the rest of the fambly that he had been courting a fourth wife. The writing has been on the wall in huge colorful spray painted graffiti font since day one.
  6. Exactly. Plus, she’s never said she was washing her hands of polygamy or her sect of Mormonism. She merely said she was leaving the marital union with Kody, which I take to also mean she’s leaving her sister wives that are still married to him as well. She never said she wouldn’t hook up with another polygamous man or already established polygamous fambly. I’m pretty sure if her needs for an affectionate, intimate relationship had been met-she’d have stayed put, so I don’t really have this admiration for her as someone who has finally seen the light that monogamy is the way to go…or respect for her, bless her heart, for finally breaking free from the brainwashing of her AUB roots. No, her husband wasn’t cuddling her and giving her back rubs and whispering sweet nothings in her ear when it was her turn to share him with the rest of the harem. THAT’s her only problem. Women finding themselves in monogamous marriages where the lack of intimacy/lovemaking from the husband who is only theirs becomes the dividing line between staying married and getting a divorce is not uncommon in the least.
  7. Sander gives off the “desperate for anyone to like me” vibe. If he’s really going to spin off, he needs acting classes and to grow a personality, stat. None of his storyline “situations” read as believable unless you are of the age that Sesame Street is your favorite show. “Hey, kids, it’s Sander again! You know I identify as cisgender and straight, but today we are going to learn how cool it is to seek out transgender folks for friendship with best bro status and possible romance with women who have transitioned from being assigned at birth as male with respect and dignity. Look here comes our friend Big Bird to talk to us more about inclusiveness and the right way to talk with our transgendered brothers and sisters with respect!” Thanks, but I’ll pass on the #SanderIs. My takeaway from the whole show from season one until now is summed up by Jazz’s own words that she was diagnosed with mental health issues at 12. Her parents (looking at you momager Jeanette) did as little as possible to get her a good psychotherapist unless it was required for her surgical transition. She’s 3 years out from that surgery now and at 21 is depressed and struggling with her body image and health issues for a different reason-significant weight gain. I think that if her parents had sought out a competent psychotherapist at 12, she might have had some time to understand and have a plan in place for the physiological and psychological aspects of transitioning, especially the relationship between, for example, the affects that certain medications can have on weight gain, even without the binge eating. The “I am Jazz” team brought the conversation to a lot of tables that didn’t even know the meaning of the word transgender, and for better or worse, gave others good examples of what to do and what NOT to do when a loved one is trans and you want to love and support them, not just shun them outright. Please, TLC, shut down production for a few years so Jazz has a chance to either make or break it at Harvard without having to fit this show into her busy schedule and add to the stress. I’ll be the first one to buy the pay-per-view episode of her graduation ceremony at Harvard!!!
  8. Waaaaaay back when before Whole Foods was a thing, I made my baby’s food by roasting or steaming vegetables/fruits, oatmeal or cream of rice for breakfast, dried fruits, granola bars for snacks, yogurt, tofu, etc. Refined sugar couldn’t be found in my house. her pediatrician encouraged it. It’s not rocket science. She didn’t have “junk food” or meat until she was 5. Today she’s 34, been a vegan for the last 20 years and the only vegetable on the planet she doesn’t like is beets. She abhors junk food. It’s been my experience if you feed them junk as a child and they’ll crave junk as adults.
  9. It really sucked to hear Amy tell the doctor she can’t eat healthy because she eats what Gage eats-animal crackers, etc. why can’t she make Gage healthy food then? Arrrrgghhh.
  10. Ah, ok, that’s what I missed. Thank you!
  11. Yet they said they ALL took tests on Friday, right? Only the negatives were allowed to show at the party, is what I got from the explanation. Am I wrong, here?
  12. I wonder if his sect does the sealings after death….that way there would still be hope if he doesn’t have the right amount before he dies.
  13. I take it one step further and am MORE disgusted with the women DickTater attracts, than DickTater himself…all in the name of afterlife bliss. He could go out to Coyote Pass and yell at the top of his lungs about his rules and expectations but if a sister wife isn’t there to hear it, will it make a noise?
  14. Hahahaha Waaaaaaaay back when, my youngest 2 would refer to my oldest as a Dick…Tater until my oldest complains they are calling her a “Dick” and I had to admonish them. Creative little co-conspirators started calling her Richard Potatoe.
  15. I think the conscious wording is similar to how he refers to his wives houses and his wives children. It’s a throwback to an attempt at Mormon Plyg sects to prove how contemporary their church has become since they can’t legally cohabitate in one big house and how their women aren’t “controlled”. He essentially leaves one wife for another every time he swaps in and out of their houses…and he is to be their first and foremost, which they all signed onto. Their polygamous pairings amongst each other aren’t based on democracy, but dictatorship. In a dictatorship one has two choices. Accept the circumstances of your situation or leave it. There is no negotiating, because the Brown family & it’s Dicktater Kody doesn’t believe in a lifestyle or an afterlife where women ultimately call any of the shots. After evaluating her situation, she chose to leave. No use pretending if you aren’t all in.
  16. I’d like to mention it’s also painfully obvious that even though Amy had bariatric surgery, ZERO time is involved talking about or seeing her at least put forth effort to at least maintain if not make progress with her own weight loss and/or healthy lifestyle goals…until the previews show her going to her doctor and giggling like a schoolgirl that she might already be pregnant. So to sum up, neither sister has a healthy attitude towards their obesity situation and the carrot for Amy to get approved for surgery or give too shits about her weight/healthy behaviors is “if I lose weight I could get pregnant and it would be healthier for the baby” then as soon as she gets a positive pregnancy test, it’s all out the window. Tammy, apparently is allergic to carrots, therefore, neither carrot nor stick. I’m not sure if I can watch anymore, either after last night’s episode. It’s gone waaaaaaay past the original premise and I agree with the others here that it has crossed a line, for me. I might laugh at the cover of the National Enquirer, but I ain’t buying it.
  17. I’m sure somebody in the room does, even if it’s on the other side of the camera. Production probably gave them a ride to the local Liquor & Vape store and subsidized the party. I don’t think she cares, even if she is aware of it. Attention, at any cost, is the obvious goal of someone who becomes a tv star after being recognized on YouTube for the glorious fact that she and her sister weigh 1,000 pounds, together. If that doesn’t scream attention whore, I don’t know what does.
  18. I agree that the conscious decision to have 18 kids in this day and age is incomprehensible unless you are a religious zealot like the Brown’s or the Duggar’s, for example. Another possibility would be medical malpractice like Octomom and her 14 kids. I think the show has done an EXCELLENT job illustrating the virtues of the Brown’s polygamous marriages over the years. I think it would be incredibly educational for anyone considering living their principle! When Christine and Janelle were pumping out as many kids as they could with their beloved co-husband, they found that if Janelle worked and was absent from the home for extended periods of time, Christine provided the childcare and held down the fort. Win-win. Who gives a crap if Kody is breathing down your neck. Let him breathe down Meri’s, for crying out loud. Now that they have very few remaining at home of the 12 they spawned, the benefits or virtues, if you will, for them of their chosen lifestyle have changed. Their god only blessed Meri with one, so maybe sitting around keeping sweet watching 12 more come into the world without her assistance wasn’t her dream come true? Robyn showed up a few years too late to enjoy the experience that Janelle and Christine did with respect to the OG dozen. If nothing else, Kody is consistent. It is his world, everyone else is just in it, following him down the path of eventual afterlife glory. Wives can’t lead so they either need to follow or get out of the way. TWO CHOICES-like it or leave. Can’t force them, it’s gotta be consensual. Kids become adults? They gotta march down their own path and accept that while these women might be their mom(s), these fully grown adult women signed up to obediently follow Kody first and above all others. I think the kids suffer from BOTH of their parents choosing zealous adherence to their chosen religion over what’s in the best interest of any future child or children.
  19. Yes, Joseph Smith is the founder of the Mormon religion, however there are various sects with their own dogma as to who is the final authority for leading their versions of the Mormon church and making or changing the rules, else, excommunication. For example, the LDS church headquartered in Salt Lake City, claiming 15 million members, has decided it objects to the term “Mormons” being used to describe them or their organization. In other words, it’s not just Joseph Smith’s “Book of Mormon” that qualifies him as a prophet whose teachings are to be considered gospel, from God’s mouth to HIS ear. Depending on the specific sect, there are others. Im not personally aware of any of Joseph Smith’s various sects that allow women a leadership role. Men run the church, women submit to their husbands, specifically and men in general and their decisions regarding the church.
  20. Wow!!! Noah is so woke at 8 years old there really is hope for the future! LOL I think they overloaded the episode packing it with brief scenes regarding serious themes of bullying/molestation/online predators/adult victims of molestation/ revenge/ vigilante justice/gender & sexual orientation equality. The tipping point for me was Noah, casually woke-splaining to his Mom as they stroll along about his experiences with bullying/bullies. He could be St. Olivia’s disciple and the show could go on forever!
  21. Whew…am I ever glad that’s over. Showtime made sure to leave enough crumbs to lead somebody to spin off something from, didn’t they?
  22. I would just like to add that any of the particulars of the Brown family’s form of Mormonism including but not limited to the requirements to get to their heaven are not universal across the different Mormon sects or denominations. The Biggest one, boasting 15 million members, even objects to being referred to as “Mormon”, largely in an effort to distance itself from the denominations that still practice polygamy. Initially, The Browns were members of the sect “Apostolic United Brethren” which claims around 10,000 members. It is my understanding that they are no longer considered members by the AUB, but I’d be willing to bet that the adults still believe in the dogma. Fun fact from Wiki: “…The AUB's claims to authority are based around the accounts of John Wickersham Woolley, Lorin Calvin Woolley and others, of a meeting in September 1886 between LDS Church president John Taylor, the Woolleys, and others. Prior to the meeting, Taylor is said to have met with Jesus Christ and the deceased church founder, Joseph Smith, and to have received a revelation commanding that plural marriage should not cease, but be kept alive by a group separate from the LDS Church. The following day, the Woolleys, as well as Taylor's counselor, George Q. Cannon, and others, were said to have been set apart to keep "the principle" alive, including sufficient priesthood authority to perform marriage sealings and pass on that authority…”
  23. I wish Stabler and Wheatley would get a ROOM already.
  24. True. Especially the last one. I still get called baby, and my personal favorite: precious! I too was sort of shocked at how this episode played out-straight from the beginning, like they slapped it together from a local referral. No exotic location that afforded us the opportunity to see who helps them get there, shower scenes, mountains of food being consumed…my bingo card was, sadly, quite empty.
  25. When I saw the part about Jazz reading from her book…it made me think that maybe she’s finally old enough to not only appreciate but be terrified of the academic world challenging her in ways she hasn’t been challenged before, as an adult. Jeanette won’t be there to go all tigermom when some random person challenges Jazz’s opinions at college.
