  1. Please let's keep this about Jessa and Ben and not a pro-choice v pro life debate. Understandably it has come up, but it is a hot button issue that is rapidly becoming off-topic.
  2. Once someone pointed out that the actress playing Kitty is the servant of the Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy, she's pink girl to me. But I am really enjoying her and the relationship between her and Joan and Sherlock. I really love how this show has many "outcast" parts of society portrayed in such a positive and "normal" light. The Irregulars aren't just street urchins, they're all those who have difficulty fitting in, whether it's addicts, or car thieves, or gays or transgenders or tortoises, and they are all portrayed with dignity that I deeply appreciate. I also appreciate how the show is trying to have Joan be a real person and not just the bedknob Sherlock can talk to. In the stories Watson had his own friends and lived on his own, had his own practice. I like seeing Joan not be dependent on Sherlock, that she is able to be a fully functioning, contributing member of society. It makes her relationship and friendship with Sherlock richer, because it shows her as someone who is accepting, understanding and supportive without losing who she is. Even if she is trying to figure out the balance and reconcile the more unique and unusual part of herself with the desire to fit in and be "normal". This has been something we've seen since the very beginning and I'm glad we're still exploring because, like Sherlock's addiction story, it's not something that can be resolved in one episode, or even a season. It will be ongoing, threads that will tie the series together. And I like that Sherlock supports Watson in all of this. He explained to her mother what makes her special (And the duck is ah-may-zing never fails to make me laugh), he's encouraged and supported her in many ways, and he's backed off when he needed to. He doesn't always do the right thing, and neither does Joan, but I think they have a wonderful understanding of one another and it's such a joy to watch. So this new partnership dealio is them figuring things out about each other and themselves and I'm interested to see how it develops. And with the reveal about Kitty's tormentor in NYC, I am really looking forward to Joan and Sherlock working together again. God I love this show so much. Oh, and just to make this post waaay too long, but I loved how JLM can make the rage silently pour off of him when he was informed that it looks like Kitty's abductor was in NYC. So still, but so much intensity.
  3. In other UK airing first shows, such as Downton Abbey, there is a no spoilers speculation thread for US viewers and for UK viewers (where current episodes could be included but not spoilers.) I can create those topics should people want. In this topic, spoilers abound, so posting speculation about what's aired in the UK would be fine.
  4. Thanks to jtrattray for the episode description from Radio Times!
  5. Even my daughter knows about the butt shot in the Avengers: "Here's your favorite part, mom!"
  6. We have a "smart" tv and also a Roku. I prefer using the Roku for accessing VUDU (where we store our movies digitally, and some shows. It's those codes on the blu-ray packages. And you can buy and rent movies straight from there as well.) Anyway, back to the Roku--we have DirecTV for our satellite service and none of the channels that we'd want to watch new episodes (such as CBS or History etc) had that as option to stream new episodes. So, if you want Chrome or Roku to watch tv you will need a cable subscription to see new episodes. I would think Hulu Plus, having paid a subscription, will allow to see new episodes. (And when I say new, I don't mean live--I mean the next day or so.) We do like how Roku interfaces with VUDU and Netflix etc. We have been contemplating cutting our satellite and just purchasing seasons of the shows that we enjoy, but haven't quite been able to pull the trigger on that.
  7. I do like it when they do mythology type episodes. Even though Kanaan still kind of bugs me as a character, I appreciate that we got to see both Ezra and Kanaan addressing what bothers me about them. And if I'm fair, they have every reason to be filled with doubt and fear. And it was lovely to hear Frank Oz as Yoda again. As annoying as it is that Yoda never answers directly, it's usually for a good reason. Still not a fan of the thin lightsabers. Nor do I like Ezra's with a handle. Maybe it's to prep for the movie?
  8. Y'all inspired me and I started taking down decorations. The only thing left to put away is the big tree and two mini trees the kids decorate. Oh, and the Christmas card holder. Otherwise, It's beginning to look empty.
  9. Let's take talk about Jim Bob and Michelle to their own thread, please.
  10. Mine are still up because we were sort of busy this weekend and I didn't want to be rushing around on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get some stuff put away during the week (and today) and finish up next weekend.
  11. Let's get back to talking about Jessa and Ben, please. Any talk about your, a friends or family's marriage can be taken to the Prayer Closet.
  12. Let's be careful with the conjecture and speculation. This is a real person and nothing has been verified or substantiated other than the announced divorce.
  13. I did not quit my job, Kev. They did let me get home early yesterday. With everyone working and Skype being a pain in the ass there was a bit of a dent in the festivities but otherwise it went well. And, kids, when I deliberately tell you what's for dinner, and that it's set up for you in the living room, do not bitch at me an hour later when I come down to do something because we are now finished with dinner.
  14. Well, I have to save some for the friends and family coming for Christmas Eve, but there will be lots of "taste testing." :) The Duggars probably don't know what they're missing, but it still makes me sad. I get such joy out of knocking about in the kitchen this time of year, especially knowing that kids and adults are looking forward to the special treats I only make this time of year.
  15. Yeah, the only reason I'm on the forums right now is I'm waiting for hubby to make his potato leek soup for Christmas. And then I'll be diving in to make pistachio macaoons and chocolate truffles. Even though my kitchen is actually a pretty decent size, I wish we had a huge kitchen with lots of space this time year.
  16. That would be great. I posted something in the Announcements and updates, but you can post, "I'm taking this to XXX thread", copy the post you want to answer/reply to, quote it in the new thread and post your reply. (And don't hesitate to PM us mods with any questions--we're happy to help!)
  17. From tv.com: I've watched since the pilot, and I'm not sad to see it go. I hope it's a great ending like Star Trek The Next Generations All Good Things..., but somehow I don't think it will measure up. Which makes me a little sad, because I want to like it.
  18. We do understand how easy it is for the discussion to move from Ben's possible college courses to discussing college and academics in general, but please bring that conversation to the Small Talk/Prayer Closet topic. A simple, "Getting away from Benessa here, taking reply to the Prayer Closet" will be fine. Thanks!!
  19. We try to allow the conversation to flow naturally, really we do, and we hate having to point you to the topic. It's easy to start off talking about Derick and Jill and wind up talking about the Duggar family and the other tangential subjects, but this is is the Derick and Jill topic. If you find that the conversation has started to shift, feel free to post that you're taking it to a more appropriate thread. There have been way too many off topic posts about citizenship and general/Duggar missionary work in general here. Please try to keep this to Derick and Jill.
  20. Honestly, I'm not tech savvy enough to know the answer to that, but I'm thinking probably not. You can see it in the address bar, though. I know what you mean, about it being confusing, and I find myself looking at the address bar so I can figure out where I am. In other news, my head still hurts from bumping it in the attic getting the tree out.
  21. We don't mind you talking about PTV here, we just don't want you talking about mod actions here. It's when we can't figure out what thread we're in that we start to nudging. But, this is the Small Talk Prayer Closet. Just wanted to briefly clarify and continue the fun conversation here. And please feel free to PM the mods with any questions. (Or, if something feels not right, click the report button) Thanks for the kind words, we do try.
  22. I've deleted a whole bunch of posts that were off topic friendly chatter which belongs in the Small Talk thread. If the response belongs in the Small Talk area a simple, "Taking to the Prayer Closet" is fine. You can link or quote the original post there. Thanks!
  23. I thought it was Sylar. And if they killed him at the end of the first season, we wouldn't have had that awesome scene of him responding if he's going to eat her brain. "That's disgusting, Claire." Made me laugh at the time.
  24. Can we circle back to Duggar fashion, and I use that term loosely, please? Thanks folks!
