  1. Y'all inspired me and I started taking down decorations. The only thing left to put away is the big tree and two mini trees the kids decorate. Oh, and the Christmas card holder. Otherwise, It's beginning to look empty.
  2. Let's take talk about Jim Bob and Michelle to their own thread, please.
  3. Mine are still up because we were sort of busy this weekend and I didn't want to be rushing around on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get some stuff put away during the week (and today) and finish up next weekend.
  4. Let's get back to talking about Jessa and Ben, please. Any talk about your, a friends or family's marriage can be taken to the Prayer Closet.
  5. Let's be careful with the conjecture and speculation. This is a real person and nothing has been verified or substantiated other than the announced divorce.
  6. I did not quit my job, Kev. They did let me get home early yesterday. With everyone working and Skype being a pain in the ass there was a bit of a dent in the festivities but otherwise it went well. And, kids, when I deliberately tell you what's for dinner, and that it's set up for you in the living room, do not bitch at me an hour later when I come down to do something because we are now finished with dinner.
  7. Well, I have to save some for the friends and family coming for Christmas Eve, but there will be lots of "taste testing." :) The Duggars probably don't know what they're missing, but it still makes me sad. I get such joy out of knocking about in the kitchen this time of year, especially knowing that kids and adults are looking forward to the special treats I only make this time of year.
  8. Yeah, the only reason I'm on the forums right now is I'm waiting for hubby to make his potato leek soup for Christmas. And then I'll be diving in to make pistachio macaoons and chocolate truffles. Even though my kitchen is actually a pretty decent size, I wish we had a huge kitchen with lots of space this time year.
  9. That would be great. I posted something in the Announcements and updates, but you can post, "I'm taking this to XXX thread", copy the post you want to answer/reply to, quote it in the new thread and post your reply. (And don't hesitate to PM us mods with any questions--we're happy to help!)
  10. From tv.com: I've watched since the pilot, and I'm not sad to see it go. I hope it's a great ending like Star Trek The Next Generations All Good Things..., but somehow I don't think it will measure up. Which makes me a little sad, because I want to like it.
  11. We do understand how easy it is for the discussion to move from Ben's possible college courses to discussing college and academics in general, but please bring that conversation to the Small Talk/Prayer Closet topic. A simple, "Getting away from Benessa here, taking reply to the Prayer Closet" will be fine. Thanks!!
  12. We try to allow the conversation to flow naturally, really we do, and we hate having to point you to the topic. It's easy to start off talking about Derick and Jill and wind up talking about the Duggar family and the other tangential subjects, but this is is the Derick and Jill topic. If you find that the conversation has started to shift, feel free to post that you're taking it to a more appropriate thread. There have been way too many off topic posts about citizenship and general/Duggar missionary work in general here. Please try to keep this to Derick and Jill.
  13. Honestly, I'm not tech savvy enough to know the answer to that, but I'm thinking probably not. You can see it in the address bar, though. I know what you mean, about it being confusing, and I find myself looking at the address bar so I can figure out where I am. In other news, my head still hurts from bumping it in the attic getting the tree out.
  14. We don't mind you talking about PTV here, we just don't want you talking about mod actions here. It's when we can't figure out what thread we're in that we start to nudging. But, this is the Small Talk Prayer Closet. Just wanted to briefly clarify and continue the fun conversation here. And please feel free to PM the mods with any questions. (Or, if something feels not right, click the report button) Thanks for the kind words, we do try.
  15. I've deleted a whole bunch of posts that were off topic friendly chatter which belongs in the Small Talk thread. If the response belongs in the Small Talk area a simple, "Taking to the Prayer Closet" is fine. You can link or quote the original post there. Thanks!
  16. I thought it was Sylar. And if they killed him at the end of the first season, we wouldn't have had that awesome scene of him responding if he's going to eat her brain. "That's disgusting, Claire." Made me laugh at the time.
  17. Can we circle back to Duggar fashion, and I use that term loosely, please? Thanks folks!
  18. What about Loki and Frigga? Is that magic? Because it didn't seem to be explained as science, and the other Asgardians seemed flummoxed by it. Even if it is a skill honed, it doesn't seem to be tech.
  19. I've felt the samples of some bamboo sets and I didn't like the feel, but maybe the mix was wrong. Funnily enough, the set that works best for us is a set from Wal-Mart. It survived dogs climbing up in the night and generally wear and tear. I'm getting tired of them, though. And the comforter is starting to get faded. I do have a set of sheets that Iove--all cotton, so soft. I'd like to have another set so that I can have one on the bed and one in the wash. And either replace the comforter or get a duvet. Or something. I'm going to keep the bamboo idea in mind. Maybe around Presidents weekend. Sometimes they are good sales. It's a luxury at this point. Replacement of stuff that is still ok, I'm just looking for something new.
  20. There was some talk about comforters vs duvets in another topic and I had to chime in. I've been eyeing duvets recently because sometimes I find the comforters too warm. Doesn't help that hubby is a furnace. I do find, like layering clothes, I like layering sheets and blankets and quilts. But it is also so incredibly difficult to find all cotton sheets. And when I do they are super expensive. But it's the polyester that doesn't breathe that makes me warm at night. During the Black Friday madness, I was poking around online for a good deal but was unimpressed.
  21. Taking the talk about sheets/duvets to Small Talk Prayer Closet
  22. ((Hugs)) wanderwoman. I'm so very sorry for your loss. That's not fair! Bad things shouldn't happen to good people!
  23. Aww, I like Jellybeans as a name. At the very least, it makes a great nickname! So, bringing over from the Jill and Derrick topic--Wal-Mart. My poor mom, at 63, works there. She's been working for Wal-Mart as a cashier for over 10 years. It is as horrible as you can imagine. Also, she's noticed quite a decline in the past few years. They don't want to schedule enough people, so there aren't enough to actually keep the shelves stocked or the departments neat so that you can find what you want to buy. For Thanksgiving, she had to work from 1 pm till 10 pm. And then for Black Friday from 4 am to 12n. So she got less than 6 hours sleep, when you do the math. They suck. And the customers just make it so much worse. I would rather spend extra and go to Target, even if they, too, aren't the best employers. At least the store is clean and I can find what I'm looking for.
