It seems Mythbusters has been cancelled. Don't know if it's too many copycat shows or there's only so much that one can watch. I enjoyed it, but it was never appointment tv and after a while, just got tiring.

We'd really, really, really like to move on. I know it's fresh for you, but it's starting to bring out some harsh responses here. We (the mods) are most definitely on top of everything. Fundraising is not permitted. At this point, the only thing they can get is attention. I would urge you to post as you normally would. Kindness and respect and empathy only make the world a better place. If it seems kind of weird to you the best option is to not respond or respond minimally. But looking at the numbers, there is a huge super majority of wonderful people here. If there are two or three that aren't? There are still way more that are on the up and up. Let's all take the high road and just continue being the awesome group of people. And now I have to say that analgesics and anesthetics make so nauseous. I was also sick after I had bunion surgery and the Vicodin made so nauseous I just took the ibuprofen. Worked just as well and no nasty puke bowl. (Bunion surgery meant I couldn't make the bathroom all that fast). When I was in the hospital for cellulitis (on the face) they gave me morphine. Maaaan, that stuff is goooood. But they gave me the anti-nausea stuff first. When I got home my brother was there watching the kids and I was saying how I liked the morphine. And he says, "It always makes me nauseous." And I said, "That's because you've never had it in the hospital." (He's a recovering addict, so he gets lots of issues with pain relief.)

Star Wars Rebels - General Discussion
frenchtoast replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Star Wars Rebels
A place to discuss particular episodes, arcs and moments from the show's run. Please remember this isn't a complete catch-all topic -- check out the forum for character topics and other places for show-related talk. -
Ah, Aunt Sandy. I watched that for laughs a few times. Poor hubby was traumatized when she made truffles with canned frosting. Needless to say he loooves the home-made from scratch ones that I make for Christmas.

Given how nasty and vicious the comments have been here has only confirmed our response of not giving any announcements. We are not going to encourage pitchforks and torches. And at this point we are thisclose to locking this topic. t's done. It's over. Be the better people that we know you are.

We can have our guards up without being nasty or accusing people of stuff. We'd really, really, really like to continue this as the Prayer Closet and not and ongoing and never-ending search for ephemeral sock puppets. Do we really want to be so poisoned so as to essentially turn on one another? Let's be better and be the awesome friends that we are.

Just a reminder and heads up, folks, the same Be Civil guidelines apply to PMs, even to the mods. Also, PMs are reportable and you can block someone from PMing you. Just because it's private doesn't mean that we allow nasty name calling or personal attacks.

So, first update with the new Toast family member: he really, really, really didn't want to get out of his crate this morning. We actually had to force him out, which we didn't want to do, but we knew he had to go (to the outdoor bathroom). He blossoms when he gets outside, but is not happy with the stairs (he got down them but has yet to make it up) and with the non carpeted floors. Even so, progress--he did walk on his own around them. We went for a walk this chilly morning and he loved it. Time, patience and love and he'll figure it out. He definitely likes being with us, so that's a good thing. He's only the second dog I ever saw that doesn't inhale their food. The adoption lady said he was a grazer, but if we get another, that's not going to work out as well. But there are techniques to make feeding two dogs easier, and the groups caring and adopting the dogs are great resources for any help.

You guessed correct! 45 mph couch potato greyhound. He's still getting used to the house (he's 2 and he's never been in house so the sliding glass door got bumped, he's unsure about the hardwood and vinyl floors and he's refused the stairs. Time, patience and love work wonders. I'll definitely be updating. With pictures :) I love just about any mashed potatoes, but they have to be smooth. And hubby loves the chunky with potato skins time. So I may have to make two batches this year :) I will eat one batch on my own.

Mmm. Thanksgiving. Can.Not.WAIT. Even if it is on Sunday, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing/dressing and the PIES. As someone said (sorry, can't remember who!) it's one of the few holidays where you get together with family/friends and there are no presents. The whole point is family, friends and good food. I know it can be a minefield nowadays with allergies and families, but I love it so much. As much as Christmas--hubby loves Christmas (though he is Jewish so didn't celebrate as a kid) because he gets to make Standing Rib Roast. YUM! So, the pooch. So far, so great. He was awesome meeting the other guy that we'll be getting end of next week/weekend. He's wore out though: He's awesome and a sweetie.

Hahaha, I love that. It's too far gone for me and my kids. But I'm weird--I always told them words themselves aren't bad, but intent means everything. And some words are vulgar and inappropriate in public settings. I mean, baby isn't a bad word unless it's being used to make someone feel bad. The expression run like a girl--none of those words are bad, but the meaning is awful. So...yeah. It's been a challenge but for the most part the kids get it. And seriously, computers and tablets need a good f-bomb every now and then. As for the amount display of topics--nothing has changed. Computers are weird. And I didn't know you could change that display. But I can confirm that we haven't deliberately removed any. Forgive the non-officialness. Insurance companies suck. I say that as we had a pretty great one and it will be changing in January. :( In the hopes of cheering everyone up--we're adopting a doggie this afternoon. Did some research and we settled on retired racing greyhounds and we couldn't choose between two from two different groups. So we're picking up S (name will change) today and going to the other group so the boys can meet. We have a home visit scheduled for Wednesday and then (all things going well) we'll schedule to pick up the second. A very nice lady donated a coat to the second one, F, so he'll be set. I'm going to try to adjust a pattern and make one for the second one this morning. I've never tried Zumba but I am so uncoordinated it would most likely just frustrate me. I have done a Jillian Michaels program and man that kicks my butt. With the new doggies I'll have to get out and walk them so hopefully that will jumpstart some hopping on the elliptical and Bowflex.

That Kracken one cracks me up. The whispering just kills me. And the torture one is cute too. At the very least it doesn't irritate the heck out of me and for a pretty dull product--insurance--it's at least fun.

My mom works at Wal-Mart as a cashier so I have an irrational hatred of Black Friday. Because she works at WM, we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving on her day off, so Sunday. Hubby is taking the kids down to his mom's for TG, and I will be snuggled up watching movies and eating lots of junk food. So, a vacation for me which I will be very thankful for. I really don't like shopping in crowds. I'm very thankful I'm a SAHM and can get to stores during the day when it's super quiet. Hitting the mall on the weekend is a chore. On Black Friday? I might need to be sedated. It doesn't stop me from looking over all the flyers and catalogs burrowed on my comfy couch.

The Last Kingdom - General Discussion
frenchtoast replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Last Kingdom
I had tried to watch that Vikings show but it was so dark and mumbly I stopped after one episode. I think because I read the books, and I have a feel for it, I like this better. Also, I like how they've shown that although brutal, people still cared. I am going to have to turn on closed captioning because I'm losing the names. But I enjoyed, it made me care about characters in a short time, it laid out the long running conflict in an entertaining way. -
The Last Kingdom - General Discussion
frenchtoast replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Last Kingdom
I stumbled upon The Empty Throne and realized that it was a series and so started at the beginning. I've enjoyed them so far but the pronunciation of names is throwing me off because I never heard it. I'm so grateful for the blending to show the place names. Now I just need name tags for everyone. I know who they are in the books, but the Aeth--- names are going to throw me off! I might actually have to switch on closed captioning just so I can figure out the names. I can see why they compressed some stuff and left incidents and characters out, and they've definitely planted the seeds for Alfred's One England idea. I should be starting the 4th book soon, so I'm not up to speed on the entirety of the series. But I do see how they're trying to depict the conflict of Uhtred--loves the Danes, wants his independence, and he can see why the "English" would want that too. And how he's a pretty good representation of the conflict at the time. It's interesting and touching and I'm looking forward to it. Is the series just going to be The Last Kingdom? Because I can't see fitting in the other books at this rate. Which is fine, but I just finished Lords of the North and I'd like to see that, especially that last battle. -
Whatever has been used for Josh's regular Friday meets can be used for a live chat discussion. Live stream discussions are pretty rare here, and usually only for big stuff--Super Bowl, Oscars, Emmy's. Live chatting is so disjointed it doesn't work well for this site most of the time. Discussing the episode itself can go into the actual L&O SVU forum.

That's how I remembered it. So Crane's flummoxed reaction seems spot on. Though I really don't need to see any more Betsy. In the hands of better writers/a better actress it might be good--she could be the Agent Carter of the Revolution. As it is, she sticks out like a sore thumb. But, I can bear with it if I get scenes with Jenny and Abby and Crane and Daniel and Joe. Even Pandora is the right kind of kooky for this show. I'm just not feeling this Betsy Ross...at all.

Aaaand to make it more interesting I saw this from Hitfix refuting the rumor of no Inhumans movie. I'm leaning toward--it may be getting tossed around, a decision hasn't been made and so there isn't going to be a confirmation or a denial from Marvel.
-
If they can do a good job on television, I'm completely fine with that decision. And thinking about it, I think being able to tell the story over many episodes gives the creators a chance to do a really good job. It might even work better than as a movie. Despite this refutation in Hitfix, I still hope it remains on TV.

I actually commented on that to hubby while watching "I guess NB has now earned the whole sex appeal with loads of cleavage role" And hubby says, "Well, I'm not saying I mind..."
