  1. Well, someone else has pointed out that Dabb's background is cartoons. So if you want one dimension characters or going for soap, then the over the top fits. Just another reason, in a long list of reasons, why it was time to shut down this show. I guess they think that the fans love it. Maybe some do. The other question would be which directors allow this the most. If Singer is at the helm, does it happen more often than other directors? I haven't watched the last two seasons more than once. No real desire to do it either. The first time I try to watch as an audience, I don't put director hat or critic hat on until I start re-watching. Since most of it is a blur nothing really stands out for me. JMV
  2. Talented directors do. But I think one issue is that they have been playing these characters for so long that they are given free rein. Actors are supposed to focus on their one character and directors focus on the overall picture. Kim Manners did craft the acting choices. A good actor will also give several options for the camera so that in editing they can pick the best option. I think they have gotten complacent and in having so much fun, they aren't exploring anymore. I believe it was Richard Speight, who said it was trying to herd cats when talking about getting the work done. I think one reason I did love the Lord of the Rings movies was the ensemble of the actors worked so well and you really couldn't pick one actor out over the others. Not that there weren't flaws but as a director the goal is to get to that level of ensemble but it is rare it happens. One thing I noticed about Robin Williams when he had a strong director, his films did well. When he did, whatever he wanted they didn't. It's also why if the film bombs the director usually gets most of the blame even though it is a partnership. But should the director curtail an acting choice, yes. However, the ship sailed a long time ago. Jensen did do the comedy bits smaller, and the directors kept pushing for over the top with the screaming at the cat being the example. I don't believe anyone really does anything with the three, Jensen, Jared and Misha. They are just allowed to do their thing and in someways that isn't good.
  3. Well, I do remember Dallas bringing Bobby back by it was all a dream or in this case a nightmare. So can they reverse it and start again, sure. The real question will there be any fans left after it airs. Since Dabb brought in multi earths with multi Deans and Sams, it would just take a little creativity to undo. The question would be is it worth undoing or should you just let it end. I'm more in okay, let's see what they do because so many times what we think might happen doesn't really stick. I'm prepared for the worst and yet stupidly hopeful.
  4. Not a tattoo person. But if you must have it do it. Otherwise don't. You could always do a temp one to see if you like it first. I'm not really a fan of tattoos. But could be I'm too old for one. lol
  5. It sounded as if he was at his bar and then went to a friends bar. If you know 6th street, the bars are very close together. Though I haven't been there in ages. I'm guessing his bar is on 6th street. But yes, he rambles, but I do that, so I guess I followed it a bit. I start story but an part reminds me of something else and off I go. That seems reasonable. It would also explain the two versions.
  6. He had to get Chuck Norris approval for the show. He still owns a part of it. They did make a joke about how quickly Chuck agreed. It's a reboot but not the same but he did let it slip his character's name is Cordell Walker. I don't think they are doing an exact duplicate. As far as the arrest story, he did take ownership. He stated he was lucky that they knew him and knew he didn't normally act that way. But I can give this part about my own life history. For a class paper, I had stayed up almost 46 hours having to rewrite the entire thing to get in by the deadline. I drove an hour and a half back to where I lived as I was visiting my folks. I went to work. I only remember two things. Laughing and telling my roommate I wasn't sleepy. When I got back to work the next day after sleeping my boss asked if I remember what I had done. I had to say no, what did I do. I got a warning never to come to work like that again or I would lose my job. I had laughed at every customer. I'm sure they thought I was high. I just hadn't had any sleep. So Jared states he hadn't slept or eaten and then accepted a drink from someone he didn't know. Looking at the tape of what he had done, he didn't remember any of it. It doesn't excuse him, but he did sound as if he never wanted to be in that position again. He was embarrassed by it. Sounds like he is lucky because if they hadn't patched things up, they could have taken him for a ride. I'm sure he can't go into details, but he honestly doesn't understand why he reacted the way he did. Looking at the tapes, he said he looked like he thought he was under attack. He is working on it with his therapist. Only time will tell. But I did believe him when I watched it. As far as the cars...I am almost wondering if the two Js are taking a break from each other. He did sound as if was justifying why he should have gotten a car over Jensen. But maybe Jensen put the bug in the right ear for him to get the car and then they gave them to both stars? Not sure on that part of the story. They don't match. But again, when I got robbed while working at the bank, none of us had the same story. Details were different. So there is always your interpretation of what happened. I think I would put more stock on Jensen for this one.
  7. As others have stated, Cas started out strong. I still like Cas, but like Sam, he has been written poorly a lot in the later years. So I would hope for a strong send off for his character. If you had talented writers, it could be done and still keep the focus on the boys. So we will have to see if they can deliver the goods. I hope they can, but I'm also ready for what normally happens. My trust is low due to poor performance for me. Now if you came late to the show, or binge-watched, your experience is vastly different from those that have watched it live since the beginning. I started Live season 4 and the reveal of Cas was such a great idea. Of course, sometimes it failed even back in the early days. Personally, I find it healthy for the fans to be all over the place. This would be such a boring place if we all just agreed all the time. There are strong opinion here, but I would hope that all feel welcomed because otherwise how can we be fans of the show if we are trying to get rid of fans? Just as I don't have a problem with stating my viewpoint, I expect the same of any fan even if we don't agree. It follows the rules of debate attack the subject, not the person.
  8. Just started watching shows on Prime, some have the first season free or all but it changes. I can watch season 1 of Musketeers free but 2 and 3 have to pay. So I haven't checked out their original stuff yet, so that is good to know.
  9. Happy for Jensen, as it sounds like the best of both worlds for him. He will have time to do other things, the schedule won't be as hard as Supernatural early days. It will give a chance for those that don't know him to see his potential. Not sure if I will, but I'm letting go of cable because I have to make cuts since I retired. Most of my shows I watch are only on the CBS. I've got amazon prime for now but admit I'm binge watching a lot of BBC old shows, Robin Hood, Sherlock and Merlin. So I look forward to seeing what happens next. The Boys isn't a show I'm willing to pay for, so if it cost extra on prime...well that will be a killer. But Jensen always seems to land on his feet and I hope that this will be the beginning for him to move up towards the A list actors. If Ryan Gosling, can move up in the ranks from his Young Hercules days, so can Jensen. Will just have to wait to see. But at least he is still acting and didn't go behind the scenes. So that is good news.
  10. If you are binge watching I think it lands differently. Also, you can start an ep and if you hate it skip to the next one. You can always read about the ep after you decided to skip to see if you think it's a must watch. Each Showrunner had a different spin, some good and some bad. Krikpe and Carver had the longer runs but Dabb gets to end it. I doubt I'll ever watch all the eps again, but some with some time...sure.
  11. I'm prepared to ignore the last 2 seasons and maybe watch the one or two eps that were worthwhile. Shame because once upon a time I was excited to see this show. I don't have a replacement for it either and have been watching shows I had forgotten that are free on Amazon Prime.
  12. Yeah, I've been on several boards that have ended after the show ended. A few went on for a few more months but it will be hard when this one wraps up and shrinks. It will be like losing a friend.
  13. I've been watching LA Heat, it has Steven Williams aka Rufus. Some very interesting storylines that would be current today. It isn't a great show. But the big difference, most of the actors are white. Very few of color and the stereotypes, sheesh. I find myself really drawn to William's character. I had forgotten that he had been on 21 JumpStreet, which I did watch. He may be underrated as an actor. Every character he does, is different.
  14. I was watching a con on YouTube with Jensen and Jared. I didn't start watching SP until season 4 so it had to be either 4th or 5th season. I didn't know anything about DA. Jensen at first refused to answer the questions about Jessica. Then one time he said that he and Jessica had talked and she had apologized. So it was all good. Reading between the lines it was clear that he had a terrible time on the set and was still keeping his mouth shut unless he could say something positive. It does make me respect Jensen for it. When I got interested in past shows Jensen had done, I found several times where someone was pulling for Jensen to be in their show. One went to Eric Christian Olsen. And the person that had wanted him on that show went to another and then got him on as a guess star. Jensen, gets the respect to his talent and personality. Who wouldn't want to work with someone that shows you respect? Yes, he acts silly, but I've yet to see a really negative post about him on his work ethics and talent. Alba was 19, and she got better when she was acting with Jensen. Why, because he's good and pulls her up. It's a shame what happened on DA because the show was more interesting when Alec was a strong character. I do find it funny if that is the reason they wrote that they couldn't touch. Pretty good way to get back at the leads. I'm also not surprised that their relationship didn't last.
  15. I didn't have a clue who Jensen was until I started watching Supernatural. One friend was a Dark Angel fan and her opinion was that Weatherly taught Jensen how to act. Nope, not at all. Jensen has the art of listening and reacting down. The pilot Still life you can find on YouTube, I believe he is outstanding. But I think because of all the drama he experienced on Dark Angel, he never wants to be in that position again. Even though they tried to limit Jensen on Dark Angel, it cost them as the show was canceled. I did buy season 2 DVD because it wasn't that much and I found myself liking season 2. Season 1 wasn't as strong for me. So I just watched a few ep on YouTube of season 1, which wasn't that good of quality. But when I started looking at Jensen's acting history, he had several jobs because someone had worked with him and recommended him for the show. I still haven't watched Smallville, but I have seen a few of them on YouTube. I just hope he will continue acting. Too many of the ones I really liked went to directing TV shows.
  16. I can get John Elvis felt angry that Jared had done something to his friends but image can destroy a show before it gets off the ground and right now with all the stuff happening, you don't want to get negative fan backlash. Had he just said something short and sweet and thought it out, he could have voiced his opinion but attacking Jared and using violence in his message got him fired. He doesn't have the clout to do this. As an actor, sorry but he should know better. You get jobs based on who you know. They still black list, even if they will never admit it. Those involved can't talk about it. The more they do, the more people that will not be valid for a jury. I dealt with something not great this year and I had to keep my mouth shut and I wasn't even allowed to socialize with my work friends. So those involved staying silent basically have to especially if they are trying to work out a deal. Jared has to get it under control though. Once he is off Supernatural he will lose some of his clout. If the show doesn't get the ratings or keep fans happy where they believe it is worth continuing his show, the show will be canceled. It is a business about profit. Remember Rodney Downey Junior, his drugs problem got him in jail and when he got out he had trouble getting work. He's also very talented. There are many very talented actors that never make it. Those actors at the top, which by the way is a very small percent, make the money. The rest struggle or don't make a living at all. Even as a teacher, although now I'm retired, I had to watch any online post. It could get me fired. Hence having names that don't really show my real name so I can post without having to worry about someone seeing it and it coming back to haunt me. No one is perfect. Which is one reason I wondered if John had not been sober when he made his post. He played with fire and right or wrong it cost him. The field of performance is about clout, about who you can draw in to watch you. Jared isn't a A list actor. He will need to make changes or it will cost him. We don't know all the details. But I will say this. What happened to me this year, makes me careful about throwing stones. Anytime something happens you there are two sides. Even in teaching I seen middle school best friends horse playing around and one gets mad. Then oops it's a real fight. The one that pushed it too far, usually always states, "I was just kidding or I didn't mean to fill in the blank." We may never find out the real story. Nor do we need to know IMO. I just know how it feels when your accused of doing something you didn't. So hopefully they will come up with a solution that is a win/win. In the long run only the people involved need to know the details. Us knowing is because we are curious or nosy. lol.
  17. He will find he did some major damage to his beginning career. You have to think about what you say. Honestly, social media is the wrong platform when you must go out in the workforce. I know that there are actors that believe any attention is better than none, but I don't think this will help him find any work. I do wonder if he was on something when he posted. Just because it is easy to share your thoughts online, doesn't mean you should. Wonder if he's learned his lesson now?
  18. I have zero problems with passing them for the end of the year. But you can only do it once. If not, those that don't will not be prepared. So I do agree with you. It's another reason I'm glad I'm done. Not sure how you do a play production with social distancing...luckily I won't have to figure it out.
  19. I'm trying to get my muse kick started once again. I stopped writing and I've been working on one story but keep hitting roadblocks. Trying to finish my unfinished works as I find that I can get to the middle and then it just stops. My biggest obstacle is matching the image in my mind with words, without sounding so cliché.
  20. Well it's official, I'm retired. I do feel for teachers that have to go back next year. There is so many issues for online teaching and the ones that don't do their work normally in a classroom, well let's just say that the number has grown with doing it online. Too many of the students have the feeling that doing it online is optional. I feel the most for any student that was a senior whether it was high school or college. A very strange ending to my 31 teaching career.
  21. I've kind of binge watched but you only hear he has a daughter and it is clear their relationship isn't good but nothing's been explained. Just given tidbits through the shows. Richard Kind is good friends with several in the show and he evidentially golfs with some of them. Just like the Librarians, the show has gotten stronger as it has gone on so hopefully it will get a second season. The interview explains some things so if you have seen the show with Alex's Uncle it does have some spoilers. https://precincttv.com/2020/05/13/almost-paradise-christian-kane-episode-7-interview/?fbclid=IwAR21neSqIVU_R7JHUP7b5P6YmS-AVF6qp2ZJmcajNzpEgiHu-OLrcCNVKuU It's a kind of a fun read. I didn't realize all the connections Richard Kind had.
  22. Well I got Dean, but honestly of the answers the options were limited. I don't like beer and I don't like coffee. But I do like Dean... surprised I got who I wanted, lol.
  23. I had a major crush on Shaun and I found a video with him and David singing and they were awesome together. He didn't have the looks for Joe Hardy if you thought he should be the brawn but I didn't think about things like that when I was watching it as a youngster. I did like ROAR, so I'm glad he found success even if his music career crashed and burned. But I did get a kick watching him sing on the Hardy Boys once again as an adult. It is funny what parts you remember when you're young and how your memory of something doesn't always match with the real thing. Back on Topic, I do Hope Jensen's music career spans more than one album. I will admit to listening to it over and over.
  24. The ears, the fingers don't match. I've gotten a little better at spotting them, but in the early years I really didn't know what to look for and there are so many images with his head on someone else's body. Things fans do when they can't find the look they want. lol Some are really pretty good if you make them B&W.
  25. What I kept laughing about was him comparing Supernatural Brothers to the Hardy Boys. Jensen's reaction is priceless. Another reason I found it funny, is I just finished watching the 70's series of the "The Hardy Boys" with Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy because it reminded me of my childhood. I kind of forgotten how in TV shows you never really had anybody really hurt not like we do today. The differences between the shows, makes the comment even funnier to me.
