  1. This is the first episode where I noticed a segment of upbeat background music. It was so uncharacteristic, so it jumped right out at me!
  2. OK, I got curious so I re-watched. When he's explaining that Gina's different when the cameras are off, Keisha asked for some explanation He said, "There's no level of excitement, or just anything else, like, that would tell you, like, this is a person that I could even have, like, a friendship with." I don't think that's the same as saying that he doesn't even want to be friends afterward.
  3. When Clint was wearing that bright blue shirt, it really made his eyes look nice. I liked the Lumberjack place. Seeing the folks doing activities, especially physical ones, really shows them in a different light and gives more insight into other facets of their personalities that we don't always get to see. I knew Jas would kill it. Also, I remember at some point earlier in the season when Airris and Jas did some other physical activity, he was like, "I knew from her cheerleading that she'd be flexible" but then he was surprised at also how strong she was. I guess the man has never seen competitive cheerleading! I don't recall this on the show or Afterparty...when did he say it? Also found it interesting that he said she is on her phone all the time, and she didn't disagree at all. His word choice of "all the time" really makes me think that it's genuinely a huge amount of time. How can she think that would do anything to grow the relationship or make him positively predisposed to treat her "like a wife"? It cracks me up to hear both of them talk about how they are doing everything they can to stoke the fires or whatever and to implement what Dr. Pepper talked about, when they have literally not done one single thing in the physical department to grow a spark, and are still squarely in the friend zone. It sounded to me like 'crass' and that's what closed-captioning said.
  4. There is one piece of camera work that I wondered about. When old-timey Evelyn and Amanda went to that fancy restaurant to find the old defense lawyer, at the very end the camera did a close-up on the big soup bowl that he ordered, and showed the waitress's hands placing the bowl in front of him. Then we saw a close-up of Amanda staring. And then they cut to when Lucy was first arrested in the police station with her handcuffs on. The only thing I could figure to explain these close-ups is that Amanda was staring at the waitress's painted fingernails, which led to the memory of the Lucy in the station and then talking about the paint job on Lucy's nails. Is this correct? Cause at first I thought the point of the close-up was the soup, and there would go on to be some connection with soup, and that defense lawyer would turn out to be the bad guy. Yes, the show is on Hulu...that's where I've been watching it.
  5. What really baffled me about her, is that she gave an example of a physically abusive thing he did starting the day after the wedding, yet when Andrea asked something about calling the police, her answer was an ongoing, generic answer, like he would take my phone. That still doesn't explain why, when it first started and before she became enmeshed in the pattern of abuse, she didn't call when she left the house. She never said he kept her captive, and he was still living his life and leaving the house, so she had plenty of opportunity. She glossed over that completely. I'm not sure how much of it was the religion, or that, as she said, she really wanted to be a wife and have a family, so she overlooked things she shouldn't have. But this is big overlooking! But almost more surprising to me, was that employer lady who hired him for PR. She said that he never completed anything in the entire 4 months. Yet when he came up with that idea of being in charge of all her companies or whatever, she agreed, and even gave him her passport! Something they never mentioned, was looking into the adult background of the Arthur character. It would have been fairly easy to check various agencies and corporations to see if he had held the jobs he claimed. Listening to his sometimes British, sometimes Scottish, sometimes neither, accent would have been amusing if he weren't such a devious, deviant, devil monster who deserves to burn in hell...and if that Miranda woman is truly in on this (which I definitely think she is), she can go along with him.
  6. Wow, I was genuinely amazed by the forensic science I saw in an episode of Forensic Factor. They had an unidentified corpse, and fingerprints/DNA turned up nothing. Likewise nothing with reaching out about missing people, even nationwide. So they used isotopic analysis of the teeth, hair, and bones to determine where the person had spent long amounts of time. In this case, they correctly identified that he had spent formative years near Chernobyl during the nuclear reactor incident, then spent time in Germany, and then England. Turns out this is also how scientists study human remains from long, long ago to determine if they originated from some other land mass and migrated.
  7. For all you "ATL Homicide" fans, did you catch the recent episode of Oxygen's "The Real Murders of Atlanta"? The episode was called "Murder in College Town" and at one point in the show, there was a need for the detectives on the case to have someone interviewed at a different Atlanta location. So apparently, since another detective was already there at that location, they let that other detective do the interview. They only played a really short audio clip of that interview, and the detective only said about one or two sentences, but it was unmistakably our buddy David Quinn! Then near the very end of the episode, they said something in passing about "Detective Quinn", so I knew that my Quinn audio recognition was spot on!
  8. Would love to hear from someone who knows the Puget Sound real estate scene, but a corner waterfront luxury modern 2-BR apt rental must be at least $5K/month, right? What do either of them do that they can afford that? Yep, and that beard was such a huge improvement! He also had his hair shorter and under control, and he looked presentable or maybe even better than that. Honestly, during their ceremony, I was unable to look at him, because he just looked so creepy. That's exactly what I thought! Gotta disagree. I thought that Micah's hair color was much better than the platinum she had during the season, and her makeup didn't look any different to me than how she did her own makeup during the season. And I thought that Tiffany was waaay too made up and it spoiled her natural beauty...she looked harsh. I think they showed him not because of whether he was popular or not, but as a way to address the rumors head-on.
  9. OK, it felt so totally forced with the supposedly super close friendship of Faye and Nicky. That is not something that the writers have done a good job showing previously.
  10. And this episode is why I can't quit this show! The little plots are just so different from things I see anywhere else. Sleeptalking as a way to game your relationship? Brilliant! Embarrassment over poor roasting skills? Comic genius! I also enjoyed seeing Noah at work. But dang, if it took a disgruntled customer to make such basic suggestions, then I don't have much confidence in him as a manager, or in the owner either for that matter.
  11. Aaarrgghh! I don't understand how police departments can be so stupid. The recent A Time to Kill episode, "Hero Betrayed", showed a story I'd seen on other franchises, in which a beloved fire department lieutenant is gunned down when he returns home after buying fast food for the family. But none of the leads went anywhere and they had no suspects. They even used wording like "laid in wait" to describe how the gunman seemed to be ready and waiting for the man to walk up to his house. So, I don't know, maybe look at how the shooter could have known when the man would arrive at the house?! And surprise surprise, turns out the wife had been communicating with the shooter to let him know when he could come over, and then keeping him informed about how soon the father would return with the food. Seems like basic crime solving 101 to me!!!
  12. I don't recall the difference w/Tiff's dress, but I did hate Bliss's dress, both in terms of how it looked and how it looked on her. I could not believe that. All I kept thinking was that a simple tiny snap on the bra and dress would have held the strap in place. Heck, even velcro!
  13. Did I miss something in the episode that would help explain the title for this episode? I don't remember anyone saying it, and I can't figure out what it would have been referring to.
  14. I kept wondering why, when Kwame was saying how hard the first year would be and Chelsea disagreed, we never heard her ask why he thought it would be so difficult. If Kwame was able to be specific with her, maybe she could help dispel some of his worries, instead of her just spouting the platitudes that she did.
  15. One of those DC area errors...the couple lived in Waldorf (Maryland), he was stabbed in the abdomen and bleeding heavily, but the paramedics took him over an hour away to Walter Reed? Nope, especially since there are tons of MTFs (Military Treatment Facilities) closer than that.
  16. I have had that criticism from the start, and it is so jarring to me that it takes me out of the moment. I was so impressed at the costuming for the character.
  17. What was the significance of that scene plot-wise in terms of helping them solve the crime? It looked like it caused Angie to figure something out, but I don't know what it was.
  18. Hmmm...if leaving for three days is in the realm of a normal reaction, then I guess we just have different definitions of normal! 😁
  19. I didn't find it realistic that he would get so angry in conversation with a co-worker as to throw something hard at her, and have it shatter, and no supervisor comes out to see what has happened. With workplace violence receiving far more attention than it used to, and with police departments being under the microscope, I would have thought this incident would have repercussions for Ormewood. To me it was the younger Angie who blew me away. Her speech cadence was identical to adult Angie.
  20. So what really made it weird to me was that for a "boudoir photoshoot", she chose athletic-looking underwear! That's part of why I think it may not have been production who arranged for this, because you'd think they'd choose some slinky/sultry/sexy lingerie. Gotta disagree with this. I cannot recall all the details, but in that big argument they had, it was revealed that after her "be more aggressive" comment, he left for 3 days! That is so not OK. And he defended it. Yet he still wants her to tell him what she needs...even though when she did, he treated her like sh*t for it. He wants her to tell him what she needs, as long as it's in parameters that he deems as proper. And as I mentioned in a previous thread, there was some unhealthy anger management on his part that came out during that argument. He isn't a rage anger type of person, but he is an avoider, a deflecter, and passive aggressive. And what a monumentally bad idea to try to have such a serious emotional conversation at midnight, especially when the other person (who is already emotionally compromised) says it's too late for such a conversation! It was borderline bullying/controlling, but dang, girlfriend should have just stuck with her guns and said "No it's too late for me to contribute as you need me to" and gone to bed! Agreed...but I think the problem is that Chelsea does not seem to appreciate the significance of uprooting your whole life, regardless of the fact that one of them would need to do it, and that he should have anticipated it given the nature of the show he applied for. Maybe it's editing, but we haven't heard her actually express much appreciation to him for it. And such a contrast to how it was with Brett's dad, who was such a sweetheart. How sad that people found Brett "less than" because of his dad's humble upbringing.
  21. I think she genuinely has a strong belief in marriage, and is very conflicted about what she sees as giving up. She is damaged, but her heart definitely seems to be in the right place. I hope they make it!
  22. Hey Clanstarling, I only hear that term one place...do you listen to the Sports Junkies?
  23. Does anybody watch "Sistas"? If so, it was odd to see the football dude, played by Ben VanderMey, because on Sistas he is a flamboyantly gay bartender. This was quite a departure from that, but I didn't like the way he played the football dude, because there never seemed to be a personality to him, or maybe it was bad acting, or something.
  24. I know I shouldn't care about realism with this show, but dang, there's no way that pot plot would have worked. If the woman didn't smoke pot, and the father liked her, she would have insisted the pot wasn't hers, and the father would have believed her, especially given the convoluted-ness of both Nicky and Noah getting up from the table to go over to the other side to pick up the woman's purse from the floor. It would never have ended well. Unfortunately, this episode confirmed something from me, and that is just how bad of an actress Nicole Byer is. All along I've thought how non-existent the brother/sister chemistry is between her and Noah, and how she just doesn't inhabit her role the way Echo Kellum does. Then I saw how non-existent the daughter/father chemistry was with her and her dad. When she sat down with him at his house and first opened her mouth to ask a question, it sounded like she was conducting a job interview.
