  1. Did they ever explain why, given how much money they were losing, that they kept with the discounted pre-order strategy? They know people were willing to wait for months, which means people must really like the product, so why keep offering it at a discount? I thought it was that the mom used to make something, and then the husband decided to try and he ended up coming up with something better, which was this product. I don't know if she had read too many sales-hype books, but no matter how they phrased it, she refused to come out and say that those were just prospects and not one had an actual purchase order. There is indeed such a thing as being too optimistic, and I think in part it cost her the deal, because she wasn't just being optimistic, she was basically presenting her optimism as a factual source of income. I love a little honey on my peanut butter sandwich, but I have no interest in just shoveling honey into my mouth! Also, I really, really don't understand the appeal of this. The coconut one has a whopping 18g sugar, which is an insanely large amount. The reviews on the website talk about how great an energy/snack bar it is. If you like the sweet taste, then just admit that it's basically a candy packaged as something more. But as an energy/snack bar, it sucks.
  2. Oh, that makes sense. One other thing. While it made for a good story, the whole thing with the college rival not telling Jimmy about the time change for the internship interview, and then getting the internship, didn't ring true. Jimmy described it as very prestigious and everyone wanted it, and that the rival guy got awful grades. I just don't buy that because he showed up at the interview, that they would even choose to interview him instead of whoever else was on their selection list, let alone offer it to someone with such subpar grades.
  3. I couldn't tell if the close-up on the bag was because someone repaired it (with rubber bands or ponytail ties or whatever), or that that's the repair that had already been there and Jimmy was now cherishing the broken-ness/repairing of it. But what I couldn't get past, is that since it was the bag he uses to perform his official duties, he could undoubtedly just requisition/expense a new one!
  4. In the "On the Case" episode called "Follow the Blood", more cop idiocy. A woman was killed in her apartment, and the killer left a trail of blood out of her apartment and into the complex. The trail ended at the edge of the parking lot, so the cops assumed for decades that it was because he had gotten into a car and drove off, so they never pursued the people who lived in the complex. Turns out the perp lived up the steps that were right there at the spot where the blood ended, but they never thought he might have just gone up the stairs. Maybe the blood ended cause he took off his shirt to stop the blood, or maybe the blood just finished dripping. At any rate, good grief. (The perp was identified eventually through genetic genealogy.)
  5. While I felt so very bad for Ricky's parents, and they really were in such a terrible position with being able to see the writing on the wall about the bad influence of Amy, I didn't like how they minimized that Ricky actually was allowing these things to happen and they didn't just happen TO him magically. I also found it super weird how Ricky's mom talked about losing track of Amy and then her friend told her about Amy being about to give birth in the hospital. I doubt it was very hard at all to keep track of Amy, especially given that everyone seemed to be traveling in the same circles they always had.
  6. My thought was that maybe she hasn't actually asked her dad yet, because she doesn't want to be disappointed by his answer if he says he doesn't want to meet with them, or maybe she doesn't want to deal with the awkwardness/unpleasantness of actually meeting up with him. So she's just making up half-hearted explanations and excuses.
  7. The thing I couldn't get past, was regarding that boyfriend near the end, who she asked to kill her ex's new wife. He didn't want to do it at all, and she even said she wouldn't take him back unless he killed her, but he just couldn't do it...and then he was saddened when she didn't take him back! How on earth can you be disappointed to not be able to be with a woman who wanted you to do something like that???
  8. It wasn't ever about the name of the scent...it was about figuring out what the scent was. Even when Paul figured it out, the scent was never named. He simply recognized it as the soap and lotion from the By George restaurant. But if the name of the scent had been determined, it still could have been helpful exactly as it was in this case, or used later if they hadn't figured out it was James, and some victims or witnesses come forward and maybe they can at least confirm the smell.
  9. Has anybody watched VH1's "Celebrity True Crime Story"? It's pretty good. They had an episode on Lorenzen Wright, the NBA player whose wife Sherra ordered his killing. I've seen this story on several franchises but learned a few new things in this one. Relatively early on when they suspected Sherra, they took it to a grand jury and it was denied. I've rarely heard of that happening, especially since a grand jury basically only hears one side of the story. I also learned that this beeyotch wrote a book called "Mr. Tell Me Anything", a 'fictional' account of a woman and man with the exact same background as her and Lorenzen, with a career arc the exact same as Lorenzen, and struggles the exact same as theirs. She sounds really really hurt and angry in it, and it is super easy to imagine her wanting revenge, even though they were already divorced when she ordered the hit. She had the nerve at the end of the book to say there would be a sequel, but instead, her ass is in jail.
  10. My favorite lack of responsibility in the episode was when he was talking about the move and said the dishes were packed so they couldn't follow the diet. Wow, just wow. First of all, the dishes did not pack themselves, he did, so it's not like it was some unforeseen event imposed on him. Second, if he literally meant "dishes" and not pots and pans, then what were they eating all their non-diet food on, and why couldn't they put their diet food on that? Third, if they indeed were only getting takeout, there are plenty of healthier take-out options. He is just a walking excuse machine.
  11. I did actually get something from the first episode, which is that I learned about the Creative Reuse Center. I had never heard of those and was very surprised to find out that there is one in the D.C. area; they don't do a very good job of promoting themself. But wow, they really do take all kinds of junk that you would otherwise throw away (or recycle), like keys, the little plastic tabs on bread packaging, loose crayons, egg cartons, etc. However, I do wish the woman had explained why recycling is so bad.
  12. There was something I had a problem with. Parker told Knight that it's not important if the kid likes you, but that he trusts you. She then proceeded to "promise" the kid that her team would bring the mom back safely. I understand being confident in your team, and wanting to reassure the kid, but bad things happen even to good and competent teams. Heck, even car accidents on the way back to NCIS. She could easily have said something reassuring that didn't involve a promise, so that in the event the worst happens, there isn't a trust issue on top of that. Also, I didn't like it that we didn't have a sense of why the kid didn't like her in the first place, and then how super quickly the kid's whole opinion changed after him seeing that she could have forced the patron to hand over his phone.
  13. They also shifted the already-announced dates for the two May mysteries to now be on Friday nights, like for the new June mysteries. May 12th for The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost (Jodie Sweetin) and May 19th for Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.
  14. Gotta disagree here. The woman was so completely and thoroughly in all physical aspects not at all what she intentionally misrepresented herself as, that I think Kamie's reaction was actually pretty respectfully muted.
  15. I like him a lot too, but the misuse of words would drive me up a tree! In this episode, he said "sideline" when he meant "blindside", and he said "stopgap" as meaning something that is stopping things, but stopgap doesn't mean that. I noticed that he was doing that in the previous episode he was on, and it was annoying then...it was more annoying this time. I got really annoyed that none of the experts asked Gina what she was doing that was wife-ish, or asked Clint whether he felt Gina did anything wife-ish. I'm guessing that complaint didn't just go one way in that marriage.
  16. I think he was unengaged because that is a coping mechanism for how he can stay out of harm's way when there's something negative about Syreeta. He didn't want to have to get drawn in and talk about stuff that Syreeta undoubtedly doesn't want to hear him say. I was very very surprised that he cleaned out his 401K for her, so they could go to Houston! That's dedication.
  17. That was really confusing. He brought soooo much food, rather than just having put his serving into one container. So it had to have been intentional, but for what purpose? Or could production have told him to do it, and even warned Wess, just for the 'drama'?
  18. I took a look at the website. Same logo, same name, and no Shaun White. Wonder if the deal fell through. If it did, they apparently decided to ignore the Sharks' (very correct) advice. I would have thought it would have some time of a wider base or legs, to help with the center of gravity. Great idea about gardening! I am considering buying this because I detest trying to tap my ear for controls, even if I'm just sitting around doing nothing.
  19. I think it was a combination of the language issue and her insanely obvious reading of the cue cards. It's like it just blocked her ability to give the sketches her all.
  20. Yes. She mentioned this briefly on the regular version, while she was driving her fiancee and that other guy (who was he?), and I wondered why anyone would want to be in the car with her! I also thought he would/should have said that. I also wondered why we saw none of the discussion that Dr. Now almost always has, regarding who is doing the enabling in preparing her meals and shopping. We saw her on that one shopping trip, but she said she only does that about once a month. So someone else is buying food the rest of the time...or maybe it's her ordering grocery delivery. We know that the home aide can't really refuse to cook all that stuff or push back much because she wants to keep her job. But we didn't even see any conversation from Dr. Now to the fiancee about his role in it. On camera, we saw him pushing back to her, but maybe in real life he doesn't because he doesn't want to lose his meal ticket or lodging.
  21. This is the first episode where I noticed a segment of upbeat background music. It was so uncharacteristic, so it jumped right out at me!
  22. OK, I got curious so I re-watched. When he's explaining that Gina's different when the cameras are off, Keisha asked for some explanation He said, "There's no level of excitement, or just anything else, like, that would tell you, like, this is a person that I could even have, like, a friendship with." I don't think that's the same as saying that he doesn't even want to be friends afterward.
  23. When Clint was wearing that bright blue shirt, it really made his eyes look nice. I liked the Lumberjack place. Seeing the folks doing activities, especially physical ones, really shows them in a different light and gives more insight into other facets of their personalities that we don't always get to see. I knew Jas would kill it. Also, I remember at some point earlier in the season when Airris and Jas did some other physical activity, he was like, "I knew from her cheerleading that she'd be flexible" but then he was surprised at also how strong she was. I guess the man has never seen competitive cheerleading! I don't recall this on the show or Afterparty...when did he say it? Also found it interesting that he said she is on her phone all the time, and she didn't disagree at all. His word choice of "all the time" really makes me think that it's genuinely a huge amount of time. How can she think that would do anything to grow the relationship or make him positively predisposed to treat her "like a wife"? It cracks me up to hear both of them talk about how they are doing everything they can to stoke the fires or whatever and to implement what Dr. Pepper talked about, when they have literally not done one single thing in the physical department to grow a spark, and are still squarely in the friend zone. It sounded to me like 'crass' and that's what closed-captioning said.
  24. There is one piece of camera work that I wondered about. When old-timey Evelyn and Amanda went to that fancy restaurant to find the old defense lawyer, at the very end the camera did a close-up on the big soup bowl that he ordered, and showed the waitress's hands placing the bowl in front of him. Then we saw a close-up of Amanda staring. And then they cut to when Lucy was first arrested in the police station with her handcuffs on. The only thing I could figure to explain these close-ups is that Amanda was staring at the waitress's painted fingernails, which led to the memory of the Lucy in the station and then talking about the paint job on Lucy's nails. Is this correct? Cause at first I thought the point of the close-up was the soup, and there would go on to be some connection with soup, and that defense lawyer would turn out to be the bad guy. Yes, the show is on Hulu...that's where I've been watching it.
  25. What really baffled me about her, is that she gave an example of a physically abusive thing he did starting the day after the wedding, yet when Andrea asked something about calling the police, her answer was an ongoing, generic answer, like he would take my phone. That still doesn't explain why, when it first started and before she became enmeshed in the pattern of abuse, she didn't call when she left the house. She never said he kept her captive, and he was still living his life and leaving the house, so she had plenty of opportunity. She glossed over that completely. I'm not sure how much of it was the religion, or that, as she said, she really wanted to be a wife and have a family, so she overlooked things she shouldn't have. But this is big overlooking! But almost more surprising to me, was that employer lady who hired him for PR. She said that he never completed anything in the entire 4 months. Yet when he came up with that idea of being in charge of all her companies or whatever, she agreed, and even gave him her passport! Something they never mentioned, was looking into the adult background of the Arthur character. It would have been fairly easy to check various agencies and corporations to see if he had held the jobs he claimed. Listening to his sometimes British, sometimes Scottish, sometimes neither, accent would have been amusing if he weren't such a devious, deviant, devil monster who deserves to burn in hell...and if that Miranda woman is truly in on this (which I definitely think she is), she can go along with him.
