  1. LOL! I completely forgot this was set in DC. Yeah, that convertible must have been a bit chilly. I find I'm enjoying these episodes more than I expected to. Oh, the stories aren't terribly complex, but Lynda sells it. It's fun to see Diana be independent instead of second fiddle to Steve. And yes, Frank Gorshin was always amazing.
  2. 1. Delilah, Boren, and a bunch of other multi-episode guest stars. I really like some of them a LOT. There are several I'd have been thrilled to have as permanent team members. 2. Abby. I can get tired of her immature behavior, but overall she's fun and interesting and smart and entertaining. 3. Ziva. I loved watching her fight. 4. Tie: Jenny and Kate. Both had some good points, but overall I didn't love them. 5. Bishop. Nothing redeemable so far.
  3. Didn't Bill say the kid had a contract? I expect if the kid leaves, there will be a financial penalty.
  4. My unspoilered speculation is that she'll go through the stones pretty darn early in the first show -- at least by the end of the first half, if not by the end of Act I. And then they'll use flashbacks to explain her past. My preference, though, would be to have her not go through the stones until near the end of the first episode. I'd like to get a decent grounding with her husband and her life in the 1940s.
  5. That picture with MH, RW, and the car was fantastic!! I thought it was a lovely send-off of a lovely man. Yes, I cried. As for the rest fo the episode, I was actually disappointed that they wrapped up the plot with Alejandro so quickly. It was a pretty good setup for a "Big Bad" arc. I was, however, happy there was no big cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers. They don't keep me wondering over the summer, nor make me anymore likely to tune in. They just piss me off.
  6. Back in the day, these were two of my favorite episodes. Watching them now, though, they feel dated enough that I'm not as enthralled. I was always disappointed that they went with an Andros Jr because I loved Andros Sr. I can understand why they'd have made the decision to do so, though. Without the attraction between Steve and Diana, Andros Jr is a love interest of sorts. Honestly, it never occurred to me that there could have been an additional meeting in 1943; I just assumed they were retconning the original episode to have included both Andros and his son. Now I want to see a missing adventure! I noticed Andros saying "Major" as well. That was a mistake, wasn't it? Was Steve Jr ever in the military? And didn't his father die a Colonel? Oy, I need to go back and watch The Return of Wonder Woman again. I also noticed that Diana didn't wear her glasses in this episode, except in the office with Steve. She had sunglasses on her head (and face, occasionally), but I think she wore her glasses only around Steve. Is this the only episode where DIana is rendered unconscious and carried? In most series, the women are carried around a LOT. But Lynda is not a small person. (Heck, Wonder Woman "carried" the men around!) I always figured it would be kind of awkward to heft her around.
  7. Was Mind Stealers the first time (only time?) Ira called her Princess?
  8. But that's just it -- they don't want them to have more. If they had even the basic three -- knife, firestarter, and pot -- the task would be significantly easier. Not having one of those three items -- or two, if someone elects to bring something else -- is the basis of a lot of their struggle.
  9. As I watch the series again, start to finish, I'm enjoying the post-episode collection at Beyond 44:58.
  10. I thinks it's kind of squicky too. I don't think I saw much attraction from Diana towards Steve, Jr. I think he cared more about Diana than Wonder Woman, though. I think Steve, Sr. had a thing for Wonder Woman -- and Diana was clearly in love with him. The beginning of season 2 broke my heart, because I realized what she (and Steve, Sr.) had to give up. There's some awesome fanfic about that. It kind made me mad that the Queen was willing to let her go back after requiring her to give up Steve, Sr. The Diana of seasons 2 and 3 isn't as innocent because of it. (Okay, that's my interpretation!)
  11. I make the assumption that I would already have survival training of SOME kind, or I wouldn't have been selected. So I assume I have all the basic skills. Beyond that: I'd make sure my body was comfortably in fat-burning mode, rather than sugar-burning mode. That goes a LONG way to keeping me from being hungry, and it's a set up for handling feast/famine. I'd switch to a feast/famine eating pattern and do a lot of fasting alternated with high calorie intake. I'd go strictly barefoot and work on building up serious callouses. I'd do a LOT of research -- even flying to the country in question, if that's allowed in the rules. If I'm allowed to go there, then I'd find someone experienced in subsistance living/survival there and work with them. I'd brush up on fire-building skills. I'd focus on building traps and snares. I'd work on slingshot skills and bring a slingshot with me.
  12. We've heard in the after show that they're told where they will be going and given time to prepare. How would you prepare?
  13. I have no insider information, but I bet the producers have them list the top three things they would bring, and then the producers choose. They probably try to pick the top items, but ensure there's a knife and consider whether the other possibilities might add some drama. I think I would bring a slingshot. Assuming proficiency, it would allow hunting of birds and small mammals, including those out of reach. Not a bad weapon either.
  14. Some thoughts as I was watching the episode... The opening notes of the theme song make me smile like a little kid. Just makes me happy! Love the flashing lamp and the video phone. When the bad guys reported to their boss that Wonder Woman had foiled them a second time, he said, "It's a replay of what happened in the girl's apartment in Washington. I can't figure it out." Uh, yeah. I can't figure out how these two gorgeous, statuesque, blue-eyed brunettes always show up in the same place either! Wow, that professional hitman who can't leave witnesses has strong opinions about senseless, wasteful violence. So... in Carolyn's rookie year she -- a black woman cop in 1972 -- participated in an undercover operation involving espionage and narcotics. Impressive! Man, we missed the rescue scene. I wanted a hug at least! (Can't help it -- I always shipped Steve and Diana!)
  15. Thanks for the warning -- I had to set mine manually too. I have to agree -- I haven't seen anyone else (othe rthan Lucy Lawless) who could pull off Wonder Woman satisfactorally. It worries me. I *know* the right person has to be out there. Lynda just captured the character so perfectly. Her own inexperience actually contributed to the allure of the character in the first season where Diana was supposed to be innocent and naive.
  16. The Pete/Myka thing just doesn't work. Really. Truly. They work great as best friends, but they have zero romantic chemistry. Please let this be a red herring, and have her end up with HG. 'Cause Myka and HG have all kinds of chemistry. BE BRAVE, SHOW!
  17. Their twists? Not very twisty. I guessed Stephanie was the Ghost Killer in the episode where her brother was killed. When we saw the old claw marks on the tack room door, I guess that they were Stephanie's and that had to do with why she was pulling fingernails off the victims. My speculation is that Deputy Director Stark is the inside man, and when B&B reveal that, it will disrupt Booth's promotion, thus leaving them at the Jeffersonian. *yawn* This show is really phoning it in.
  18. So much to love in this episode. Joe getting flustered over the idea of Diana as a swinger... Steve "rescuing" Diana from the tree... Diana being the only woman on the island... Steve flipping out when he thought Diana had been shot... the diving suit... the underwater scenes with toys in a pool... and completely skipping the part where they got everyone off the island in 35 minutes. I could totally write fanfic about Steve and Diana being marooned on a tropical island. (Steve has some mad skillz if he's able to build a fire AND catch dinner in the time it takes her to cut the legs off her pants.) I always laugh when the bad guy refuses to shoot the good guy. Even when Steve was stalking towards him, Manta just wouldn't pull the trigger. For God's sake, I know he's the hero, but SHOOT HIM.
  19. Yeah, her being a witch didn't bug me. In fairness, what we saw was the TV cut, which is going to play up eye rolls and such. She could be a fluffy bunny witch, or she could have years of dedicated study behind her. Impossible to tell from this, and it doesn't really matter. I agree 100% about her wanting VInce to provide the food. What? Chick, stop whining and go rustle your own grub out of those bushes. Vince is NOT there to take care of you. You're there as a team. I thought throwing away the scorpion was a waste too! I remember on one of the after shows a contestant mentioned all the things they ate that weren't shown on TV. So that could have been the case here too. We saw him kill the scorpion, but we didn't see him toss it. They might have been eating tons of them! I honestly wish the editors/producers would focus more on the survival aspects than the drama. It's just a lot more interesting!
  20. I am ashamed to admit this, but the after show is growing on me. I don't even like silly pranks and such, but I like hearing from the contestants, I like seeing and learning about the animals, and I enjoyed hearing from the producers in this particular episode. (A sloth! I truly NEED a sloth.) The clip where she ate a tadpole and basically burst into tears was hysterical. "It's squishy." I was sorry Sabrina didn't get a chance to make the final trek and get the completion. I was surprised that Vince tapped out so easily, particularly since he was so into it at the beginning. Honestly, I'm the type who would enjoy his instructor monologue IF he was open to it being a dialogue. If he thinks he knows it all and can't learn from me, then that would get old fast. I believe, though, that no matter what I know, I can learn more. I laughed at Vince's fire-making kit. If you're going to use sticks, then bring something else and just use wood from the area (unless you think it's going to be so rainy and wet that you won't find proper materials). His bringing a friction-based fire-making kit came across as extremely arrogant. I thought her way of preparing -- by teaching her body to handle feast/famine -- was very, very smart. Our bodies adjust to fasting and to buring fat as the primary fuel fairly easily, but it does take some adjustment time. It makes sense to do the work to prepare the body before you get thrust into the situation.
  21. I caught that Bayou episode yesterday, and it was fantastic. The couple complimented each other PERFECTLY. It was a really fun episode, because they struggled and overcame.
  22. I agree with you, summerstorm. It doesn't matter to me one way or another, though. Todd is absolutely hysterical. I love his wife, and the love the famiy members share is tangible. The youngest son's smart mouth is way over the line for me, however, and the privilege these kids take for granted makes me cringe. I really didn't intend to watch this show, but I caught an episode and discovered I actually enjoyed it.
  23. I agree -- the first season opening was the best. The second season opening was speeded up just a little. Maybe so they could get in an extra verse?
  24. Ha! I wondered about that hair too. Goodness gracious. Saw HG in the previews. Looks like there's at least one chance that she and Myka can stroll off into the sunset together.
  25. Is it definitive that one of the people on the bus is HYDRA, or is that just speculation?
