  1. It's funny - I just watched the clip of "Lola" posted earlier and when Gwen was waving the tights around near the end and slapping the floor with them, it reminded me of Ann Reinking at the end of "Sing,Sing,Sing" in Dancin' throwing her long, straight hair around and slapping the floor with it. Because of Dancin' I have a lifelong love of the Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall concert. I worked at the National Theatre in DC for a good long time and Dancin' was one of my favorite shows to pass through (twice!). The only reason I wasn't there for opening night of Sweet Charity was that it was Rosh Hashanah and I was off. Probably for the best. I'm loving this show.
  2. I second @Spunkygal's suggestion of the LBJ Library. And Franklin BBQ is worth the wait - spectacular!! Museum-wise, I went to the Blanton Museum - it's free on Thursdays and has some nice stuff. Also went to the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum and enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. I spent a couple hours at the Texas Music Museum. A warning about that one - it's tiny and there's one guy there when it's open, so if you're the only one browsing, it might be a little overwhelming (not in a bad/creepy way, but I'm not big on one-on-one attention). Fortunately for me, there was another guy there doing research for the museum he worked at, so they had an interesting conversation that I got to listen in on. We took a tour of Austin City Limits theatre. Wish I was interested in seeing the show that was there at the time. It's a great space. Wandered into the O Henry House/Museum. It was lovely. Then wandered into the Driskill Hotel and had a drink at the bar. Waterloo Records is great if you're looking for music of any kind. Food-wise, we ate at the following (we stayed at the Sheraton at the Capitol and most of these places were walkable from there): Franklins, Blue Dahlia (a cute French bistro type place), Hillside Farmacy, Olamaie, and Old Thousand (a really good Chinese restaurant where we ended up enjoying a Chinese New Year show). We also met Mr. ebk's college friends at Trudy's. Don't eat there. I had cocktails (actually, just wine and/or beer) at Hopdoddy Burger Bar on South Congress, the Driskill, and Sholtz's Garten (a neat, old beer garden with a bowling alley in the back), It's a fun place for a few days. If I think of something else, I'll post. Or if you have any questions, please ask.

Yes Actually, back in the day when he could hit, his nickname was Crush. Now Khris Davis has co-opted the nickname as Krush...or Khrush (not sure which, although I should be)

I'd send you mine except 1) it's only for kids and b) I've already exchanged my Sunday tickets for Brooks Robinson bobblehead night. If there's a way to get one at some point, I'll let you know.

Sorry - won't happen again. It's only something I use in reference to the team doing well, so I'm sure opportunities will be few and far between. I only meant it in the Best Possible Way...

This makes me so incredibly sad that I'm going to buy all his discounted merch at the team store on opening day while I'm wearing a number 10 t-shirt. So there!

While I couldn't hate the 1969 Mets more than I do, this makes me terribly sad.
  17. Seth's podcast today is a 45ish minute chat with John. Check it out - it's marvelous. https://www.nbc.com/late-night-with-seth-meyers/exclusives/lnsm-podcast
  18. Pat Collins from right here in your Nation's Capital! I can't believe they didn't use a clip of him with his Snow Stick...
  19. This was fixed - thanks! - for a couple of weeks, but this evening, the Manage Followed Content has gone back to the content choices being on the side instead of the top. The detail is still there (so that's good), but the new issue is that my sort choice (by last reply) won't stick. Every time I go to the page, I have to sort it again to see where the latest discussions are happening. This just started happening a couple hours ago. Thanks for looking into this.
  20. I was just saying they almost topped Diner Lobster, but not quite. Still, I'm thoroughly enjoying the show tonight.

Okay MLB Network - can we see the game that's supposed to be on and not this entire Bryce Harper slurpfest???
  22. Happy Birthday @UYI!! Hope it was a great day! Thanks for keeping this thread going. I always enjoy the videos and discovering new - and old! - music.
  23. Not that I can explain it here (since I'm too lazy to actually Google it), but I think the Best Picture voting this year used something called Weighted Voting. People were saying (many people...) that this could cause a not-best picture to win. And they were right.
