"Cal Ripken is the Cal Ripken of dreadful broadcasters" This from a friend of mine. He had it in quotes, so I'm guessing he saw it somewhere, but I don't know where. And I'm an O's fan, but alas, I agree... Happy with this game tonight so far. Go Jays!

So, today did not go as I would have liked. And, for the record, I'm one of the few people who don't like or hate Harold Reynolds. He's...okay.

Can you DVR the shows? Or at least watch the Amy Schumer show OnDemand? This is playoff baseball! The rest of the stuff will be there later!!!

That is not irrational! There is nothing as great as a lifelong sports grudge! I hate the Mets because of 1969. And I will hate them forever! Go Cubbies!!

An Audra reference here! Yay!!! I was listening on ESPN radio and Rick Sutcliffe was incensed about the call in the top of the inning. Even after Dan told him it was probably right (although Dan couldn't find it in the rule book, because it turns out his rule book had a paragraph missing - go figure), Rick wouldn't stop saying the call was wrong because of common sense. Or something. It was quite an entertaining broadcast. I love baseball on the radio.

Game 5! More baseball!! More baseball is always better!!!
  8. Agree completely about Megan Hilty - she's a wonder! And I suppose the reason I stayed so long with The Good Wife was Kalinda. Just wanted to see how that played out...and it didn't play out well. So I'm out.

Okay, at this point, I feel like I can freely hate the Mets again and hope the Dodgers win.

Honestly, I really don't like the Mets, but that play is making this very hard for me.
  11. For me, it's what shows "did" I hate-watch. Smash, which was thankfully cancelled. And The Good Wife, which I've given up on this season, It's just too stupid to even hate-watch.

I'd imagine that's a given. If it doesn't happen, something is wrong.

Okay - shopping worked for game 1!! However, I'm home for the rest of the evening. I did switch from beer (last night) to wine (tonight), so maybe that will work for game 2. Go Dodgers!

Well, I'm 0-4 today. I think I'll go shopping tomorrow.

So, I have a four day weekend (yay!) and had a full day of errands (okay...shopping!) planned for today. Hate to fight the crowds on the weekend if I have a weekday to go out. However, there seems to be baseball on my TV... Good thing I love my couch!!
  16. Thank for this. I can't stop laughing. Good thing I'm not in the office today :-)

I wasn't paying attention, then looked up and thought "who is that - he's kinda cute". So glad he was also knowledgeable - hope he's back in a future game. And yeah...that hair!!

I was really rooting for this to happen in 2003. I figured they would get to game 7 and the world would blow up so neither team would ever win. The Saux ruined that dream in 2004... So, on another board I frequent, I actually picked the Astros to win it all. And I hadn't even started drinking yet. Now that I am drinking, I realize I'm nutzzzzz

I got in my car after work to go home...and no baseball on the radio. It was a tortuous commute (okay, it's always a tortuous commute, but tonight was extra bad) Woohoo!! So glad he made it safely. Enjoy!!!

So, .500 and not in last place is not a total disaster of a season. So there! A good day at the park, and a fabulous dinner. And...Steve Pearce - with beer!
  22. So, here it is, the middle of the night. They are running the 40th Anniversary show. Great opening number, with Bonnie Raitt, Brittany Howard, Gary Clark Jr, and Jimmie Vaughn. Then Sheryl Crow comes out and totally drowns out Kris Kristofferson on "Me and Bobby McGee" - not the greatest performance. But then Brittany came back with the Shakes and things seem fine again... I do enjoy this show.
  23. There is, indeed, table service. And really good food. A very enjoyable show tonight. I may not like MIley's music all that much, but she's a talent and does seem to enjoy herself when she's on this show. Loved Hillary! And I'd vote for Kate any day!!

It's nice that MLBTV is free this weekend. I turned on the Cubs-Brewers perfect game just in time to see the Brewers get a hit. And now I'm bouncing back and forth between the O's and the Nats. Just ... because (It's painful that I have to watch any of the Nats game because Bob and FP are so so so so so so dreadful. And did I mention they're bad?) This is really interesting... MASN is not going to commercial between the top and bottom of the 9th because of the...situation. So yay - I get to hear Bob and FP blather on. And on.
  25. A story on NPR a couple of week ago about just that: http://www.npr.org/2015/09/24/443053728/resettled-syrian-says-shes-a-migrant-not-a-refugee Also, an article by the NPR ombudsman: http://www.npr.org/sections/ombudsman/2015/08/21/433493813/refugee-or-migrant-how-to-refer-to-those-fleeing-home While many of the people fleeing are refugees, all of them are "migrants" as they're all moving, for whatever reason. (Sorry for the topic veer...)
