So, thanks O's. I won't have to spend a boatload of money on postseason tickets this fall. Sigh...

Thanks much Aim. The team doesn't seem to be doing anything to make me feel better tonight... Fun thing at the O's game Sunday - the A's had a position player come in to pitch at the end and the O's left the pitcher in to hit. That so rarely happens in the AL due to the unloved DH. That was a fun game.

I wasn't there tonight - thanks O's for not winning for me on my birthday! - but any fans would have to be better behaved than the Yankee fans at away stadiums. Even the Saux fans aren't as...intrusive... and they're not great. I tried to behave in Seattle last week. And I haven't forgotten that you asked about why the stadium was lovely. It's got wide concourses, the people are friendly, the food is good, the beer is fabulous, they even have a wine bar! And a fireplace for when it gets cold! One of the nicer stadiums. We only have 4 more to go.
  4. All about Josh Charles. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/07/josh-charles-his-diverse-career-roles I must say, this is longer than the feature in the actual magazine. Although the picture from Sports Night isn't on the web article.

Back from Seattle. A really lovely stadium with great food and fabulous beer! And I got to see the one game the O's won. Yay...

We're off to Seattle today to see some baseball! Yes, that's why I take vacations - to see baseball :-) Tomorrow is Jamie Moyer bobblehead day, and Monday the O's come in. So it worked out nicely. We have 4 or 5 more of the "new" stadiums to hit before we've seen them all - original and new. It's helpful to have vacation goals.
  8. Now that you say that...I think it's her tone of voice/line reading that makes me stabby... :-)
  9. This commercial makes me want to stab both of the women who are not Rashida Jones. (apologies if this has been posted already - I looked but didn't find it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwWMlJwqUMM And one more from a competitor - a commercial from Xfinity where the man has arrived at the woman's house and she goes out for a moment, so he tunes into her TV and finds that she's been watching things about murder. This one also makes me stabby. Fortunately, I can't find a video for it.

Yeah. HTS became CSN. Peter Angelos started MASN in 2005. Some of the O's game are also broadcast on WJZ and some of the Nats game on WUSA, mostly on weekends.

We here in the DC/Baltimore area (The Capital of the Free World ) get 2 MASN channels that show the O's and the Nats. When they aren't playing, they mostly go to ESPNews. There are various baseball talk shows during the season - I think I mentioned my favorite part of Wall to Wall Baseball (the O's show) is when they read the weekly Mars Grocery circulars on the air. It's brilliant... We also have a CSN network which shows the Caps and Les Boulez. And...other stuff.
  14. I was truly puzzled at Colin Quinn last night...especially after reading this about what he had to say about Jerry Seinfeld http://www.salon.com/2015/06/10/colin_quinn_wont_concede_to_fox_friends_repeated_demands_he_say_political_correctness_has_ruined_society/ Especially this part “Look,” Quinn said, “people still have a sense of humor, but it depends on where you’re coming from. You can’t just [throw your hands in the air] and say, ‘it’s just jokes,’ because it’s not a free pass.” And yet it sounded like he was saying "it's just jokes" and throwing his hands up in the air. He was really, as LADreamr said, all over the map.
  15. I just saw a new (to me) DirecTV ad with Tony Romo doing a Rob Lowe-like thing. He's a Great QB with DirecTV. He's a bald artsy guy with cable. I will never, ever, ever get DirecTV.

Sourdough fuckboy is a fabulous modifier! I can't stand the guy. I hope this puts a real damper on his Fox Sports career. Each team can decide which dugout to use. Per Wiki (and it is never wrong!), there are 12 teams currently using the third base dugout at home. The O's used the third base side way back in Memorial Stadium, but when they moved downtown, they went over to first.
  17. How about Around the Horn and PTI? That's what I'd do.

Let me know if this works because I'd like to forget this last series sweep of my O's by the Hated Yankees! That said, mojoween, enjoy Yankee Stadium!! It really is a great place to watch a game. And they managed to keep it feeling just like, well, Yankee Stadium, but now it's all shiny and new.

Since the O's are sucking right now, I debated turning on the Nats since I hate Bob and FP soooooo much. So thanks for letting me know this as it seems Bob and FP aren't on. At least not during the dark delay.
  20. This seriously made my day! Thanks for the clips!!
  21. I love ACL. I'm a night person and my 3 local PBS stations usually play it on the weekends in the overnight hours (when it's not endless pledge drive time...). This show, and other music shows like Artists Den, Front & Center, Infinity Hall Live, Mountain Stage, etc... get me through many nights. I've enjoyed old favorites and discovered new favorites. Love Austin City Limits!!

As a Yiddisha Mama with no kids, can I like this a thousand times? Meanwhile, here in Birdland, I got to see the O's 5000th all time win. And they just won number 5001 - a good day all around!!
  24. I went to see Elizabeth Cook in concert on Monday and she couldn't have been more effusive about Dave. Said he'd pretty much changed her life/career for the better and just praised him to the hilt. She said he builds houses for Habitat for Humanity (it's either 2 houses twice a year, or just 2 houses - don't remember which). After the builds, he throws parties for the people who do the building and invites his favorite singers ("court jesters" as she phrased it) to entertain. She said she'd done one in New Orleans at Preservation Hall, with the PH Jazz Band. This is something I didn't know about Dave before and it makes me love him even more. BTW, if Elizabeth Cook comes through your town, I highly recommend her show. She's quite charming. And she sings good.
