That should be outlawed by the Geneva Convention... I'm so sorry you were subjected to that.

Went to my first Les Boulez game of the season yesterday. They were winning the entire game. Until the last 3 seconds. Sigh.... It's gonna be that kinda season.

Happy Thanksgiving Aim! Enjoy the trip. And Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I totally agree about this being the best forum on the site! (Well, maybe tied with the TCM thread... :-) )

First, I wanted to throw things at the TV at the end of the Ravens game. Whoever that was needs to pony up his entire salary in fines for that stupid penalty. Then I wanted to throw more things at the TV at the end of the Packers/Lions game. Just because. Lastly, Eli's sad face never gets old. The day was not a total loss.

The best thing I learned today - after the AA Rays affiliate left Disney, they moved to Alabama and became the Montgomery Biscuits. I love biscuits. Maybe I'll try to get a t-shirt...

20 years??? Where does the time go... I'm sitting here laughing at how I thought it was less than 10. Oy vey. :-)

Didn't the Braves just move to Disney?? If they leave now, that would be...ridiculous! Lakeland definitel counts as central Florida. As for Viera, it's the only Spring Training stadium we haven't been to. Even when we were in Ft Lauderdale, it was a reeeeally long drive, and since it was the Marlins, we just weren't interested. By the time the Nats got there, the O's had moved west and the drive was even longer, so...no thanks. I realize it's not a bad drive from Orlando, but ... nah.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

That's funny...I was about to say that Bruno Mars is the only redeeming part of the whole ordeal... :-) -
That's the one (although by now, you already know this). The Nats and Astros are moving to West Palm. A long time ago, the Expos trained there (I think it was the Expos). I once sat behind George Will and his family. His son was ripping heads off Barbie dolls. I don't know why that sticks with me...

Loved Dodgertown!!! I was so sad when they moved west. When the O's were in Ft Lauderdale, we always made the trip up to see a game there. I guess now that the O's have moved "west", it would be a long drive to Vero Beach, but it still makes me sad. I really like Marchant Stadium. I also really enjoyed the stadium in Kissimmee. It's a total throwback to the old days of spring training. I'm sorry that they are replacing it. (At least I think I heard they were replacing it...). You should definitely get to Bradenton, They did a fabulous job fixing that place up. Also, the O's have done a remarkable job with the stadium in Sarasota. Check that one out if you're over that way. We're definitely heading to spring training in March. Skipped it last year for the first time in 20 or so years and I can't wait to get there!! Oh, and totally agree about Nats Park. I read a headline somewhere that they have contracted with the White House Historical ... something... for the next couple of years, so I'm not looking forward to the new Racing Presidents 'heads if they're going to be like Silent Cal...

Another reason we want to go back to KC (besides Arthur Bryant's!). The Negro League HOF was wonderful. There's a Jazz museum in the same building, but they were having an event there at the time, so we'd like to check it out next time. Also, the Truman Library is nearby. We've been to a few Presidential Libraries on our baseball travels.

Since I started hanging out in ballparks as something to do on vacation waaaay back in the day (early '80's?), I've been to all the ballparks that were open at that time (except for Fulton County Stadium). We now sorta plan our vacations on which ballpark we need to get to. At this point, we only need 4 more (this includes going back to cities that have built new parks since we started) - Miami, San Diego, St Louis and KC. We're counting KC because they've given it an almost total makeover since we went in 1998. My favorite old park is Fenway. My favorite new park is Pittsburgh. I liked County Stadium because it reminded me of Memorial Stadium. My least favorite park was Riverfront Stadium. Maybe because it was the last year of that park, but it was a total dump and quite depressing. Just got tickets to see Hamilton in NY in...August :-). We'll probably stay the whole week, so hoping for a couple of games while there. Maybe a couple of the minor league teams will be home this time.

TV or radio show? Or both...

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

The ads for GE where the guy gets a job as a developer and his stupid friends and stupid parents act like this is the worst job in the world make me want to throw things at my TV. I hate stupid people. -
After watching LMM on 60 Minutes, I just ponied up the cash to see Hamilton...in August. I'm giving myself a birthday present!! I'm thrilled! And I don't really want to wait that long!
-
Congrats to the Royals and their fans!! I'm gonna miss baseball for the next 4 months.
-
Mr ebk said you need to let the manager manage or you end up with Cal Ripken. Or a tie game...
-
Happy Birthday!! I was out for my best friend's birthday, so I was (sorta) happy that the Mets won last night so I wouldn't miss the last game of the season. Worked out well... Hope you enjoyed your day!

That was mentioned, but the MLB-I broadcast was still working. We know this because that's where we went when Fox went boom. So there were cameras and a feed they could have used. But, I'm getting all my info second hand...so what do I know. They're actually still using the MLB-I feed. Joe and Harold just threw out Matt and John.
-
I was just coming to cheer about no Joe Buck, but...he's back. What I don't understand is why they had to stop play. The game does exist outside of TV...really.
-
I got 8/10 for the Mets. How did that happen? I hate the Mets. Of course, I only got 3 for the Royals...
-
Just got the OBCR a couple of days ago and I can't stop listening to this. Might be the first time I've bought the cast recording before I've seen the show.

Maybe by you. But certainly not by anyone in the sports media. This game is not going in a direction that would have me watching another game tomorrow night. Booooooo
