I agree with this as well. But I wasn't looking for the "twinkle" during the truly biting comments. More so when he made jokes like the ones about Leo's young dates, Martin Scorcese's height, etc. He delivered all the jokes well, but the glint of mischief wasn't there. Still loved him on there though.

I agree on your observation but am still glad he hosted. I hope he enjoyed himself more than it seemed.

I think the wording was that the movie was about people surviving by acting like they don’t see a thing. Which is a little more accusatory and biting, I think. Glad he got one last shot in after such a diminished role in the last half of the show.

I’ll jump in on the “Karen looks like...” thing and say a baby-faced Amy Adams. I nearly cried when no one got the Roxy Music question.

Sergio’s dress...was that JUST wrapping paper? Or was it a muslin base with wrapping paper covering it? Because I’m with whoever upthread said they can’t even wrap a present without ripping wrapping paper.

Fallon AND Corden? Won’t they let Colbert play in their reindeer games? I’m not surprised when Fallon pops in but I was surprised to see LA-based, non-NBC affiliated Corden there.

What bugged me about her saying that was you could tell she had it all lined up to use if she ever bet big. Today may be the first time in history that I got a FJ that was a TS. I really liked the middle contestant’s joy and enthusiasm. I didn’t like her jabby buzzer hand. Lack of concentration mistakes today. Putting a two syllable word when they asked for mono, the champ guessing “Paris” in a U.S. Cathedrals category. Odd.

This show is what it is now. Low judges scores are only going to rally fans of bad dancers to vote more. They’ve backed themselves into a corner. For what it’s worth, disregarding the obvious, the dancers have been going in probably the correct order.

Positives: The taped pieces. Coldplay’s first song (for the staging uniqueness). Kid genius on WU. Negatives: Pretty much everything else. Oh, Kate and Aidy have to try to read their lines around smelly food again. I’m glad THEY seem to like that bit.

Positive: Karamo’s attitude after being eliminated and the pros and other contestants hoisting him up on their shoulders as if he’d won. Negative: Tired of Hannah’s “I’m just a girl from a reality show” whining. She spent her life as a pageant girl in front of audiences where she had to perform talent pieces, which in her case were dance pieces, and she’s had years of dance training. Yes, that’s different from what is required for this show, but it’s a lot closer than the professions and experiences the other contestants come from. This show, if it lasts past this season, needs to never cast a political figure ever again. Have they ever cast a non-conservative political figure? I can only remember Bristol Palin, Rick Perry, and now Spicer. I must be forgetting some. Probably a lot!

When they were doing the “Previously on...” I kept thinking “Man, it’s been so long I don’t even remember that part” on a couple of things.

Well, I guess we know now what that “Something big is happening” (or whatever it said) tweet from Trump that was mentioned in WU was about.

I know people really like it, but I’m getting tired of Kate and Aidy as strange women selling something and breaking during the skit.

I am old enough and know he’s era-appropriate and played with a bunch of people, but the benefit line-up was MTV/one or two hit wonders and he just didn’t fit being billed separately. Maybe he was going to emcee/play with bands, but that didn’t look like how it was billed. It doesn’t upset me or anything - LOL. I just figured it was a personal shoutout to him by someone in production/writing.

If Leslie Jordan’s character wasn’t modeled on Rodney Bingenheimer, I’ll eat my hat. What was with including Paul Shaffer in the festival acts? Must’ve been an inside joke.

That reward challenge would be way harder and more painful for the women.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t know that the Thin Man series came from books, so I was never going to get FJ. I also guessed Sam Spade. I wonder if they would’ve accepted just “Ali” for the question about Laila. I thought the middle lady said Harrod (singular) and was going to get called on it later. But I could’ve easily misheard.

I’m not sure Female Music Superstars is any better.

Lily is really lovely when she genuinely smiles. I wish they gave her more storylines that would show that side of her.
