  1. I liked Claudia before she joined this cast. I know she has been trying to do reality TV for a while, and even shot a pilot with Melyssa (from BS&H) that didn't get picked up. I know her from the Foxxhole and her own talk show where she would say some wild things about any and everybody. However, I never thought she would behave like this just to be on RHoA. I guess I should have known since she has been so desperate to get on a show but, like others, she annoys me when she is harping on Nene. While some might like it, it is not coming across the way she might have intended.
  2. I asked the same question while I was viewing the show. The percentages are far too low and dollar amounts are far too high. (I can't remember past episodes as well, but I just don't remember the asks being so out of whack.) Most of the dollar amounts (which can't change) are more than 100% of what the company is even worth. It really hinders adequate negotiation. I like the idea of a minimum starting point. Or at least more presenters with realistic expectations. And I don't enjoy watching the sharks go off on based on poor valuations. For some reason, I can't post below my lowest quote comment so this comment is for the quote below: I was wondering why someone would be so far away from a small child that they couldn't just get the paci. I guess in the car is one time but on a daily basis, it seems to be a poor solution to a non-problem. It slightly annoyed me that Lori made an offer though I guess she can turn this around like all of the other crappy products she sells. Not that I dislike Lori. I just don't find interest in most of the products she invests in.
  3. I just knew Tami was going to find her way onto this show. Or someone else from the early seasons. As for the episode, I didn't really like Bow being the butt of every joke. I also didn't get Fat Shawn chiding Dre about Bow being around her ex but seemed okay with her husband (Bland Lance is her husband, right?) being around his ex. That triangle confused me a bit. The Diane-Charlie feud is enjoyable. That both of them recognize it might make it even better. Also, Jack knowing he is a hot mess seems right. He does seem to have that kind of similarity to his mother. Lastly, the kids reminded me that I am old enough to be their parent and thus we come from a different generation. Yes, I watched the Real Word (early seasons). Yes, I remember having to watch the show that night or risk never seeing it again until the summer. Yes, I remember setting up the VCR to record a show while I watched another show on a different TV. Yup, TV viewing has definitely changed over the years, though oddly, I am back in the old-school TV watching stage.
  4. Re Cold Open: That is what I was thinking with as well. And I believe that had Kentucky not lost, Taran would have been Calipari instead. UK is definitely a better candidate since the school has truly embraced the "one and done" student athlete. I don't watch CNN but that sketch made me giggle since I figured CNN would do something closely crazy. Lastly, I find most of the singing monologues to be boring even though I don't hate them. This one at least made me giggle. Overall, Michael Keaton made me giggle and worked well in most of the sketches.
  5. I hadn't realized the show came back already. I read no press before and only caught its return when I was watching the latest episode of RHOA. I cannot think of a moment when I have been brought to tears watching a reality TV show. At first I thought Daisy was playing until I realized that'd be a cruel joke to tell. I tried so hard not to cry since I was watching it out in public but once she started talking about her faith and how she praised Jesus in the good times so she wasn't going to quit now, I mentally lost it. I am going through things, though not as life-threatening as Daisy, and that statement truly spoke to me and reminded me of how I have to approach it day. She is also right about people being different once they find out. I know her style is not the best and her wigs are jacked most of the time. But with all that she has been going through, I can't bring myself to care. As for the others, Mica is still much, Geneva is still delusional and Demetria is still uncomfortable to watch. Melyssa, the only one I knew of before this show, does not surprise me. She has been trying to act and present herself as more than just a sexy body for a long time. It seems to be going along with mixed results but I won't knock her for continuing to use whatever name recognition she can.
  6. The scene with the kids all together cracked me up. This line from Diane and Jack made a funny as well. I see that these latest episodes are featuring Jack and Zoe with some nice lines as well. Overall, I have enjoyed having new episodes and watching Black-ish on Wednesday nights again. Charlie continues to be funny with some absurd true story.
  7. I watched the Season 2 opener. I missed Season 1 but watched the recaps online. They just put S1 episodes On Demand so I've watched the first four episodes before the start of the new season. I am not usually a soap watcher but here I am watching this show. I thought it was crazy how everyone just assumed it was Kelly even though she doesn't live next door. Randall was extra bold and deranged but it will be interesting to see how this plays out now that everyone knows. Lastly, those have to be the worst extras (as far as what they were required to do) I've seen at the birthday party. Between the announcements and all at the party, the extra weren't even attempting to interact with what was going on.
  8. Because I watch multiple episodes at once, it is hard for me to pinpoint what I liked about each episode. Overall, I like that this show is rooted in black culture as well. I appreciate MJ listing the suicides of successful black men because that is something that has left people in discussions asking questions. I also like seeing Kara and Gael giving it another go. I think it will be interesting to see her date and not just end on an "I don't date Latin men" note. I actually thought his speaking to her in Spanish was cute. Shaza is going to take some time to get used to but I do like seeing minor characters like him fleshing out the world that MJ lives. Lisa is annoying. I didn't realize MJ and her went back so far but she is just as much to take as MJ. Maybe even more. Her pity parties and episodes would be tiring. We all have issues but she continues to involve others so deeply into hers.
  9. I am enjoying this season much more than last season. Mary Jane has always had a bunch of issues so nothing she does, or that happens to her, surprises me anymore. I am done trying to keep up with the history of MJ and David. However, I can take their back and forth better than what MJ had with the married guy. It was clear that David was just working with PJ to be closer to MJ but it was nice to see PJ standing up a bit for his sister, even if it did affect his business dealings.
  10. Thank you. I have been trying to remember what movie that line was from, and my usually reliable relative could not come through. So, we may be the only ones who caught the line but when he said "The older the berry" I immediately started saying, "It's the blacker the berry", "Well, she blacker than a ....".
  11. This has been bothering me all season. It seems that the writers/creators do not realize that "17 years ago" was not the 1980s. They make it seem like Cookie was locked up in '88 instead of '98/97. As for the rest of this episode, it bothered me that Empire has massive security at the office and even for the VIP section of the club yet seemingly no security in the huge home that Luscious built. We all knew dude was carrying and even Luscious recognized he was sketchy but there was no backup to call. Even though the family was executing an IPO, they still didn't seem to need security until it was time to escort Camilla to the airport. That just took me out of the whole standoff scene.
  12. This episode was truly laugh out loud funny. I am going to have to watch it again some time. Just about everything I remember was funny has been mentioned. Great episode.
  13. Claudia is disturbing on this show. The desperation is sick. I thought she was entertaining before (I've been following her career for awhile now). However, she needs to get off of this show if all she can do is obsess over Porsha. She really did create an issue where there wasn't one. She is the one who talked about Porsha because she perceived Porsha to be "laughing" at her in Puerto Rico. And she stays trying to act like they work together. While they have the same boss, they are no on the same show. And while Ricky is not above RHoA messiness, it still looked tacky to be talking about that crap and acting stupid in front of him.
  14. I just finished the second episode and thought it was funny. I won't lie, I don't think I've ever seen so many east Asians on a TV show at one time. Especially children. The little brothers are cracking me up. Eddie is good too but the little one who was placed in charge was great. Mom in the restaurant is bad but hopefully she will learn some balance. She was right about the croutons. While she was looking at it from a cost perspective, someone should have mentioned how it's unsanitary. As for the CLC, I am sure I heard of these things later in life but didn't think about it growing up. I wouldn't have mind extra study as a kid but I can see how it can be too much.
  15. This is the first episode where I wanted to see both concepts. I am definitely a carnivore but even I'm interested in the Yeah Dawg and beet balls. And I did find it interesting that the ladies wanted to go the retail route for now. I think that's a good idea since running a restaurant is not really their interest. And I think some of their products can really sell with the right amount of marketing. One thing I never paid attention to about this show is the expectation that these people have real experience running restaurants. I wonder how much detailed knowledge they are truly expecting. And how much mentoring/advising they are doing. I mean, of course, since they are investing their money, they are going to be involved. However, when it comes to hiring and building the restaurant, I wonder how far they go with rounding out the staff/participants in this venture.
  16. So I watched this movie 1 and a half times. I saw it a week after it premiered yet I did not hear any press/reviews. As stated already, this was bad. Real bad. And that bad meaning bad, not bad meaning good. Whitney & Bobby, Whitney Loves Bobby or Bobby and Her. Any of these titles are a better description of the movie than Whitney. I feel like I was misled from the beginning when the first performance I saw was a Bobby Brown performance. And they didn't care when they were casting BeBe and CeCe. I'd rather have a discussion about With This Ring. Lifetime seems to do original dramas better than biopics.
  17. I noticed the same thing when the panned to the bar. For it to be a sports bar, the first thing I saw was a whole wall that had no TVs. I was at a restaurant a week ago that added a sports bar. And they had so many TVs in there (like all down the outer wall) that I didn't bother to count. If you claim to be a sports bar, plenty of TVs is a prerequisite. And I had no idea Kordell was a partner. However, I did giggle a bit when Peter was talking about Kordell's professional history because he has no ties to Charlotte. I could see if they were opening a bar in Pittsburgh or Colorado but whatever works for them. Also, I have been following Claudia's career for some years now (one of the reason I even watch this season). I totally understand what Cynthia is talking about when she referred to Claudia's clothing. Most of the things she has worn look cheap and poorly made. It's funny that she asked if she is embarrassing because I'm sure her LA/NYC/Miami friends probably never really said anything to her about her dress. Lastly, as a person who has probably done many things that folks hate or would be disappointed, I will reserve judging people I don't know in such black-and-white terms. Folks will always disappoint if you are around them long enough.
  18. I just watched a biopic and I believe I've heard others pronounce the word to rhyme with "myopic". Not sure if that's new but I have heard it a few times. As for this episode, when I first watched it, I cringed and didn't want to see it again. However, when I saw it again, I actually did laugh and enjoyed it more. Not sure what it was but there were definitely very funny parts (which have been mentioned already in this thread).
  19. I am happy to see the discussion about Lumio. When he was presenting and everyone was going crazy about it, I was sure that I had missed something. I am not the target audience but I don't see the problem it is solving either. I hope to see a true update (probably outside of Shark Tank) about this product because I do not see its usefulness yet. Outside of it looking cool, I am not sure why else someone would want or need it.
  20. I agree with just about everything written. I knew it was Ms. "4-5 weeks" as soon as we saw her. My viewing buddy always comments about Beth leaving her curtains open (and windows unlocked). It seems a pre-requisite on this show. However, despite all of the issues and predictability, I find this show hilarious and enjoy watching it. And yes, DM is giving me creeper vibes in every scene, especially with Beth/Michelle.
  21. I am not sure I want to sit down at a sub shop but I knew they were going to pick the Lone Wolf. I'd prefer to see Rice, Paper, Scissors. As for Antonia, she was just reciting the same lines that Waylann used to have. Hope she adds something different soon since I liked her on Top Chef.
  22. I like the way Jussie looks. I didn't know he was still acting so I look forward to seeing him on this show.
  23. Thank you so much for posting this. It was awesome. While I was watching, I remembered your post about Marsai but couldn't remember when it happened. once it happened, I responded the exact same way as the rest of the cast and remembered that was what you were referring to. That young lady is incredible. The whole cast is great.
  24. I watched Reed Between the Lines, even though the show was not that good. I, too, am much happier that TER is on this show. She gets to express her comedic talents more and in a way that I can't say I've seen before. I hope this show is able to stay on for several seasons.
  25. So no one is going to mention Elise dating 50 Cent and Rick Ross?!?!? For some reason, I missed this time in her life and still can't believe she admitted to them. As for the Reunion, they must be having two parts just because everyone else does. I mean, is there really anything left to talk about. The cast wasn't that big. Maybe they will show the movie on the next episode. It can't be more than 15 minutes. Lastly, Carlos King. Never knew that was what he looked like or who he was. I think he was trying to hard to be the Andy Cohen but I hope it doesn't mean we see more of him on TV One (or any other network). But he did drop the tea with revealing that Paula was cheating with her now dusty husband.
