Just started a rewatch over the weekend. How could I forget how insufferable Kim was?!?!? The mom too, but at least we weren't plagued with her for several more seasons. Just made it to Season 2 and I can't wait for Kim vs the Mountain Lion.

Where's the subforum? I didn't see a link? I'm not totally committing to watching this because I fucking hate Tariq, but I've been a sucker for the stupidness of Power since the first episode, so it's hard to cut myself off. I'm at least open to the first episode.

I don't doubt that at all. Kaycee probably been working real hard on convincing Nany that anything that may have looked inappropriate to outside viewers (like her girlfriend) was completely one-sided and totally Nany's fault in every way. I sense real gaslighter tendencies in Kaycee during the whole Bayleigh drama.

Candiace Dillard Bassett: Ducking Purses Since 2018
luckyroll3 replied to eXiled's topic in The Real Housewives Of Potomac
I agree with you all about their being a big difference between a person's 23 year old self and their 33 year old self and that people can change a lot during that time. However, there's a small percentage of people who don't change....and they're usually assholes (please refer to Giselle and her constant mean girl stature that she's probably been pulling since middle school). Candiace leans towards that asshole category real hard! I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt because of time, but.....I'm struggling. -
Candiace Dillard Bassett: Ducking Purses Since 2018

If you were like me, wondering what she said in the past, US Weekly has some of the quotes. https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/rhops-candiace-dillard-apologizes-after-homophobic-tweets-resurface/ -
I'm so here for Clifford and La'Marcus! It seems folks might be more willing to turn a blind eye to someone cross dressing as opposed to actually flaunting a relationship as normal.

I knew she was bad news. talking about God spoke to her I don't trust any TV characters who quote the bible all the time. They are always trifling without fail. Mercedes was dumb to trust her, I don't care if that was her mama. And she was dumb to get caught; she should have molly-whopped that bitch 2 times and then skedaddled before the cops showed up I didn't realize white stripper's name was actually Gidget. I thought they just called her that to make fun of her for being white. Lol!

I did some more deep diving. It's not just the broadcasting company; the family also owns newspapers and has since the late 1800's. That's how the company started. They also own the fucking spelling bee! That's why it's called the Scripps National Spelling Bee (the company name is Scripps). It looks like Sam (and all the descendants) own a small percentage of the companies. So he's rich all right. Which is good for him, because he is not cute at all. There's a reason Juliette keeps mentioning his money before anything else....
-
I thought Mercedes was saying she deserved to get used, not raped, cause no boy who's gonna convince her to do that would be interested in her for anything other than getting an easy screw. I loved the kid who correctly assessed that "nah, somebody about to get they assed whooped!" And uhm, can we talk about the sleeping beauty thing? What in the hell are these dudes into?!?! That shit was weird. Also interesting to see that Uncle Clifford and the "dark-skin" Kyle brother are childhood friends. Also, also I'm loving the bouncer.

That entire situation read so differently to me. As I saw it, Bay wasn't involved with this at all. She kept trying to talk Daphne off the idea and Daphne kept talking over her. And her explaining why ideas wouldn't work was a strategy to dissuade her. It also didn't sit well with me that Kathryn immediately blames Bay for the entire thing and of "corrupting" Daphne, who is soooooooooooooooooooo perfect.
-
What Daphne did to Emmett (and also to Bay) was so damn manipulative. Pulling that, "it wouldn't have been fair of me to not tell you that now I'm finally into you, even though I know you're with Bay now. And also, let me kiss you." Ugh! Why are all the hot ones always gaslighters!
-
I'm wondering why they all didn't immediately start going to therapy, particularly Bay who is always like "everyone in the world hates me; neglects me; ignores me. And now there's some other girl for everyone to choose over me." They all certainly could have used it. None of that shit would fly in my household either. These kids have way too much leeway.
-
I really loved this show, but in the current climate of Karen-ness, Katherine is really rubbing me the wrong way in everything she does and says.
-
Watching episode 1 and I think it was pretty surprising and progressive of Katherine and John to let Bay talk them into genetic testing to begin with. Most parents would have just been like, "Shut up! You're not adopted, so drop it!" Totally forgot Charles Michael Davis was in this. So hot! Although thanks for The Originals for helping him fill out that bod! I forgot about all the eye candy on this show! Charles Michael Davis, Blair Redford, Austin Butler.....

The very early seasons are on YouTube. My sister and I are about to start rewatching from season 1 for our podcast.

I thought so too, but I think it was just that he "committed" to getting a [very, very tiny] matching tattoo on his ring finger. -

Love that Gizelle's kids have Jamal's number. They definitely put his ass on blast with the "he only calls us so that he can call you to tell you he called us. Plus he's a cheater!" They were like: When will Robyn learn? The producers: When are you and Juan getting married? Me (and Juan): Candiace knows she can't afford shit without her mama. And as much as I can't stand her mom, I certainly did chuckle a lot when mom tried to stifle her laugh about the cash bar. Thank you for stating what shouldn't need to be said. -
Why is it in poor taste? Lots of skincare tools are using sonic vibrations to stimulate blood flow, and cost hundreds to thousands of dollars for something that a $30 vibrator can achieve. I actually think it's pretty smart.

I like the idea of having stop and go dates, cause I tend to blow through episodes fairly quickly and then I have to wait for people to talk to! 😞

I liked the song too. It was just a bit of overkill. Alexa and Katie is a great show, and you don't need too much brain power to watch. I'm was very much a fan of Switched at Birth, especially the earlier seasons. I will join you over there.

I absolutely loved Lola! She was a great character. The one thing I'm sad about with not having more seasons was the ability to continue to see her evolution as a person. Everyone else in her year were pretty much douches or super judgemental assholes. Particularly Hunter and Baaz....gosh, if they were real, they would be on track to become awful, awful adults! Esme was such a total mess! Just because. I actually have this really vague memory from an article about the upcoming season before Imogen was introduced that Imogen was supposed to have a characterization very similar to how Esme was portrayed. I remember it because I was super excited about the portrayal of an "actual" bad girl on the show (because we all know none of the previous bad girls were actual bad girls, or stayed bad girls for long), but then was super disappointed because it seemed that they'd abandoned everything about the character, instead choosing to focus on her quirkiness. And then here comes Esme several seasons later with same character traits that were talked about, but super one-dimensional. It seems like they were trying to get there when they revealed her mom had also OD'd and maybe because she had actually flunked, they were planning to bring her back the following season. I don't know, but overall she was super unlikeable. I couldn't even get into her "owning" her sexuality because there was never any follow-through on why she was doing the things she did. Again, they seemed to be getting there with her using sex to keep Zig interested, but it would have also been just as awesome if she just liked sex. They didn't really take the time to develop her other than that she was "wild". I definitely felt sort of sentimental when this class graduated though. Although if I had to hear Maya's song one more damn time...... Same! Glad I could crash your rewatch. It was fun! What's next?

Off to finish watching season 3. I stopped at episode 6.

Surprised no one has posted this yet, but Insecure scored 8 (I think) Emmy nominations, including lead actress, supporting actress, outstanding comedy series, and a couple of cinematography nods.

Kandi Burruss: Atlanta's Own Willy Wonka
luckyroll3 replied to radishcake's topic in The Real Housewives Of Atlanta
I agree. I really wish people on social media didn't feel like they have to comment on everything, especially people's children. I thought Riley looked a bit different, but I assumed she put a lot of the weight she had lost back on during all the quarantining. She still looks great though and I'm excited for her growing up and going off to college. I did a rewatch a couple weeks ago and it's so crazy to see all the little kids so grown now!
