  1. I'm pretty sure it's The Empire Strikes Back. If so: "Shock me, shock me, shock me with that deviant behavior!"
  2. Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion! "This vexes me. I'm terribly vexed"
  3. Out of Sight "This coming from the guy who still owes me ten dollars over what would be the bigger movie; ET or Krush Groove." "You know what? Fuck you man; time is gonna tell on that one!"
  4. That Thing You Do What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula?
  5. Die Hard "Why should I listen to you anyway? You're a virgin who can't drive."
  6. I loved this episode. I usually am pretty indifferent on Scarlett Johansson, but I thought she did a fantastic job. I give her huge kudos for immediately and calmly putting the helmet back on the pug after it fell off - that sketch could've gone off the rails if someone hadn't gone in and put the helmet on. After that, "the day without women" was my favorite sketch of the night, with the Olive Garden one following close behind. I was half expecting the 5-timers song to be the same one Bobby sang Ben Affleck during Ben Affleck's 5-timers monologue. I was a little surprised they didn't bring out Alec at all during the monologue though. I can understand him not staying until the end - he does have 3 very young children at home, so I can understand him not staying to the end every time - but having him join her in the monologue in some capacity would've been nice. The WU guests were great. Alex Moffat killed the Franken impression, and Pete's line of "he looks like if Fredo Corleone was even sicker as a child" had me on the floor.
  7. He used the phrase "I quit drugs and am now sober", so I took that to mean he wasn't talking about anything aiding him with his Crohn's disease.
  8. Well, I can help a bit with the old screentests/auditions! A podcaster I follow posted Whitney's Sizzle Reel (AKA - how he sold the show) for Southern Charm and it is...something. It says everything about Whitney that he ended it with him jacking off a champagne bottle, doesn't it?
  9. Looks like we have the reason Pete has been missing. Good for him for getting the help he needs.
  10. I posted the link in the media thread, but Pete just posted on Instagram that the reason he's been MIA on the show is because he was getting off drugs (I'm assuming he means he was off at rehab).
  11. Well, this episode was....something. The sketches that hit were fantastic - the cold open, WU, TBD, and Girl at a Bar - but the ones that didn't were terrible. I don't think I laughed once at the Spencer's sketch, and I was bummed that Bobby was wasted on that stupid chocolate sketch. None of this was Octavia's fault, who gave it all in even the dumbest sketches (I felt embarrassed for everyone in the Joad sketch). I will continue to be a one woman fan club for Alex Moffat. His Eric Trump had me on the floor, and I was in tears when he was battling with the Capri Sun. Weirdly, I totally liked Father John Misty and I can't put my finger on why. And I was oddly charmed at how enthusiastically he hugged Octavia Spencer in the goodbyes and then started dancing in happiness.
  12. I am! And I'm thoroughly enjoying it and recommending it to anyone that will listen.
  13. Dee Wallace was in E.T with Drew Barrymore, who was in Scream with Neve Campbell, who was in Wild Things with Kevin Bacon Next Up: Chad Michael Murray
  14. E is reporting that Erika Girardi (from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) will be a contestant this season: http://m.eonline.com/news/831624/real-housewives-of-beverly-hills-star-erika-girardi-joins-dancing-with-the-stars-season-24-cast
  15. We've got another host and musical guest-Scarlett Johansson is hosting the March 11th episode with Lorde as the musical guest: http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/23/snl-scarlett-johansson-hosts/ Apparently, this will make Scarlett a member of the 5-timers club. I wonder if they'll do anything special to celebrate.
  16. The Writer's Guild Awards were this past weekend and SNL won the award for Comedy/Variety Sketch series. I am a little curious as to how the different writers are included in the awards, only because Fred, Tina, and Seth won as part of the group, but I have to think those were for one-off sketches.
  17. "Do you still want my bat?" "No" Me: *DEAD*
  18. I loved that right after that, Putin comes in and has that elaborate handshake with Don Jr, and then when he reaches out to do a fist bump with Eric, that Alex Moffat just held Beck's fist for a second then sat down. Mikey gets much more attention among the new cast members, but I think Alex Moffat is just as hilarious.
  19. Just hand Melissa McCarthy the guest actress Emmy now. My god, that was hysterical; her lifting her leg up to show off her shoes made me completely lose it. And Kate was fantastic as Sessions, though I had trouble understanding her for most of it. An Alec hosted episode is always great, just because he's such a pro. Though, other than The People's Court sketch, most of my favorite things had nothing to do with him - Leslie as Trump was one of my favorites of the night, as was the Jake Tapper/Kellyanne Conway sketch. I also thought WU bounced back from last week, and I really enjoyed Alex's character - I have sadly known (and dated) that guy, so the whole thing rang so true. And while I didn't necessarily like the farting sketch, I did love that Aidy got a case of the giggles, because her hand stayed over her face for almost the entirety of the sketch. Even though he took some digs about his looks in the monologue, one thing I'm always impressed by is how terrible they make Alec look as Trump. He may not look like his younger self (I had such a crush on him in Beatlejuice), but I do think he's still quite handsome, and he looks so craggy as Trump. Kudos to the makeup people.
  20. Rose McGowan was in Scream with Neve Campbell, who was in Wild Things with Kevin Bacon Next Up: Kirsten Dunst
  21. A small thing I loved in the episode: Frank comes in singing "Go for it, go for it! Go for it, go for it!", which is also the song he sings when he's trying to dance and pick up women in Charlie Gets Crippled (the first episode we see Frank). In the commentary for that episode, Rob McElhenney mentions that they had no music playing when they recorded the scene (because they were going to pipe it in later) and Danny Devito just started singing "Go for it, go for it!" as an improv. The guys all thought it was so funny that they had Charlie Day write background music and give it a beat so that it would look like Frank was singing along to a song playing in the scene. I love their callbacks.
  22. Entertainment Weekly has a little write up of how they got Melissa McCarthy for Sean Spicer: http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/07/melissa-mccarthy-sean-spicer-snl/ Apparently, there's now a fourth head writer Kent Sublette, who wrote the sketch with Melissa McCarthy in mind and went to her about being Sean Spicer and she accepted immediately. It also says that Mikey Day used to be in Groundlings with Melissa McCarthy, and you can tell from the picture at the link that he must be the cast member in the Grim Reaper costume playing Bannon.
  23. While Melissa was a force of nature in the Spicer sketch (and I lost my shit when she threw the gum on the podium and said 'I'll come back to you later'), the little part that tickled me was Bobby's face after that long word salad about the word "ban". I laughed myself silly at the cut to his wide-eyed face. Kudos to the cast for not losing it when Melissa was really going to town, because that really helped push the sketch into "instant classic".
  24. They must've edited out the whole thing, because I didn't see a joke like that at all. It surprises me they left the other three big ones in (the monologue, Colin's early ending, and Vanessa's early line) but cut out Che's, but maybe it was a much bigger mistake.
  25. So, I watched the episode on Hulu and while they left in Colin ending WU too early and Kristen Stewart swearing in the monologue, they cut out Che flubbing a joke and "You just saved my job". There was a hard cut from Colin ending WU early and Che's groundhog day joke; did it happen there? With Colin ending WU early, it did make me wonder if they originally planned on ending with the David Ortiz bit, since Che's Super Bowl joke was a weird one to end it - I was thinking that Che's joke was the original lead in to the David Ortiz piece and then they'd end with that. What can I say about Melissa McCarthy's Sean Spicer that hasn't already been said? She nailed it and that was just masterful to watch. When Casey Affleck hosted, how did they not exploit the fact that Alex Moffet has a pitch-perfect Casey Affleck impression?
