  1. For some reason, I thought that the auction host was his mom, but I checked and she isn't. He just worked at the place, although he might have been on camera - it was way before he was on Oprah. I don't remember how I stumbled over that fact originally - he might have mentioned working there in some article. I also have no idea where Jeremiah came from...
  2. Someone has already put together a meme of her character in Taxi being her "incarnation" on Earth...
  3. If you remember the early days of HGTV, Nate's first job was for the auction house that was featured in At the Auction.
  4. I did like that the Starfleet code is possibly a smaller book than the US Internal Revenue Code…and that publishing still exists. I wanted Pike to say something along the lines of not realizing how clever he was to offer asylum. I also wanted to know what exactly the two counts of sedition were for, and how Pike’s girlfriend as the prosecutor wasn’t a huge conflict of interest, along with the chief prosecutor’s relationship with Spock and his unVulcan-like glee in wanting to go after Pike next. Loved defense counsel Neera, her asssistant, and her great skills and snazzy wardrobe but Riley is just lucky she got the Earl Warren version of Starfleet court and not the Rehnquist version. Also, as others above have noted, why is the Federation basically being run by human dictates?
  5. Enjoyed La’an’s homage to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Ortegas flying the Enterprise like the Falcon (which it can’t) but anyway… ‘Why couldn’t M’Benga and Chapel have done some environmental hacking to take out the Klingons because, okay you’re jacked up on legal PCP or whatever, you still aren’t physically stronger than a Klingon so huh? (To be fair, I was fast forwarding through most of it so maybe they explained it?) Spock should have said “take us out” as he did in Wrath of Khan. Although… Yes, Seven would have been proud. I wish we could have seen Pike getting debriefed on all this, that would have been fun. “I leave you all alone for three days…” But really, it was a mess, especially no one helping Chapel and MBenga when they were beamed up (is the Enterprise The Heart of Gold now?). Especially Starfleet implying La’an was on leave so they shouldn’t help because she was former Starfleet - what was that? Also, Kane’s character said she was what kind of alien? I couldn’t catch it.
  6. You have to read between the lines as to why he leaves - is it only Henry? Did he feel like he’d accomplished it all - which they could have tied back to him accepting the job in the first place. No one outside Rebecca even talks to him about it - if the team had a meeting about bringing Nate back, wouldn’t they have had a meeting about Ted leaving? Why is Beard’s decision to stay last minute? Where are the Diamond Dogs in all this? Higgins isn’t freaking out? Roy becomes coach and Ted doesn’t even talk to him about it? They’ve got a winning formula at last, they’re moving up, even Rebecca’s sale decision is treated like they’re deciding what to sell at the concession stands. We spent all that nonsense with Nate and Keely’s PR firm when they could have been setting the ending up.
  7. The wedding officiant said something about her having one of "God's own creatures" or something like that - definitely pregnant.
  8. I also thought that future could be a dream - nice St Elsewhere catch. That could be too. My reference was Local Hero, except that ending is more ambiguous.
  9. ::waves:: are you all also me? Abby drove me away from ER. The only moment that was good was Luka telling her “you’re not pretty, you’re not special” and then he fell for her.
  10. I turned on the TV, and my local station had on an infomercial for some skin care thing with Cindy Crawford and a French doctor. I was doing something else and got back to change the channel after a few minutes, so I was listening to the story of the product from the narrator - who I belatedly realized was Andromeda Drucker of HHI!
  11. At this point, I just want to know if Rebecca did buy a horse and whether it was to ride or race or have someone show? I just didn't feel the episode at all. I did like Ted's Mom giving props to Trent's hair, but other than that... While Beard's confession was fascinating, I think I would have preferred if it was always just unknown. Also, that winning streak - how many games are they playing for a season? When does the season start? How did Ted's Mom know when to make the food - the way he was talking, I thought they were going up to Manchester to play that day (glad I was wrong on that). Why was May's answer about family in quotes in close captioning - was that a quote from someone? I share the "Nate should not prosper" sentiment and I wonder about Jade and who she really is (and what DOES she have over Manager Dude). Is Rupert sick or is Team Anti-Rupert going to make his life miserable? (please be answer B!)
  12. As it should be, considering all those Hell’s Kitchens I watched where those cheftestants couldn’t make Wellingtons…
  13. Great article. What's really weird is watching season 1 and the music queues are all wrong - they switched those up.

I saw Instagram posts of her in Belize, did not know why. Now I do...she had a Mother's Day post with her mom and daughter, she looked great.
  15. There was one...Spain, a gay couple moving in together, one guy American, one guy Spanish, but I forget which one was saying some of the right things but not all of them - not happy with the location at all, and I think a breakup was ahead. Anyone else remember this one? I still would like to go back to that Frankfurt one where the woman moved into the place with the shower in the kitchen...
  16. Just watched Weeping Willow again (with Michelle T aka Dawn from Buffy) and wow, it's pretty prescient about where online content and live streaming has ended up, even if it's "YouLens."
  17. What Monte’s been up to: Monte’s Jackie Kennedy collection
  18. I'm ready to send her away for that awful outfit with the big collar she wore when she announced the romance to the whole office. If that's a designer outfit, that designer should be sentenced to wear it out in public. That was a Project Runway fail.
  19. I took the line from Riker to be that he and Thad will be waiting for Troi in whatever afterlife as they would both be dead and she's still alive, but he should have said "We'll be waiting for you and Kestra." Although didn't someone note that he says he doesn't believe in an afterlife? So odd all around. As for Geordi, I got nothing.
  20. cf: Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. At least the OG7 got into one space several times, interacted, and no one died, so it's ahead on points. The humor may have been awful but hey, none of them got blamed for having a kid who destroyed the galaxy although, oopsie, Picard and Beverly actually did! For me, the age jokes were just really flat and cringey. OTOH, even the awfulness of Jack Crusher (and Beverly saying she was protecting him by dragging him into multiple galactic conflicts) was ahead of another season of Picard's Dickensian Childhood, which we knew nothing about until season 2 and if I never see that estate again, it'll be too soon. So I guess season 3 clears the relatively low bar of not being as awful as 1 or 2, but again, I look at these writers in despair. You're getting paid something (probably not as much as you should - although in this case...) to come up with decent plots and a ten episode arc and you're supposed to make me care about these folks and I basically shrugged until they killed off Shaw. So at least I cared about one new character. Although it would have been tactically stupid, because there was no guarantee Vadic would have left them alone, I would have been okay with sending Jack over. Hey, he might have done less damage than he eventually did!
  21. I'd much rather Shaw lived than Jack Crusher, who could have been excised from this rerun of Return of the Jedi. I would watch a series with Seven, Raffi and Crash but Jack is a deal breaker. You make some excellent points there about Riker - and interestingly, Troi was the voice of reason....the empath whose husband is over there. When no one should have gone over there. I agree on your wrath and add that mine is the plot is a mess - so there's one Borg cube hanging out on Jupiter and no one noticed? How did the Changelings find out and how did they come up with this scheme? How did they all not triple cross each other? Why did Starfleet agree to link the whole fleet up? Is there no Captain Kirk to ask the equivalent "why does God need a starship?" in all of the fleet? Also...now that I think of it, why DIDN'T Shaw and Seven know about this? Shouldn't there have been eleventy billion meetings in Galactic Microsoft TEAMS? Or did they mention it and it got buried in all the histrionics from Vadic. There should have been discussions about not going, or going after they were shielded - and not a cloak either! How the hell does this thing work, again?

Komatsubara/Koleto are skating to Ghostbusters: Who ya gonna call?
  23. Loved Higgins and Will in search of Chet Baker, and Roy and Jamie and their homage to Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid (that was seriously great). Rebecca and her rescuer were not my cup of tea and brandy but Colin and Trent were terrific. I did love the montage, which was fantastic with the great song choice. I have been in that convo among the team, trying to decide where to go - except not those choices! I do have a question, though, about the triangle offense being “created” for Michael Jordan because, while I know little about basketball, I have seen the 30 for 30 “Survive and Advance” (about the NC State ‘83 team) many times and they mention a triangle offense or defense? I so enjoyed that Ted’s first Chicago reference was the musical…and the “American portions” with the mountain of onion rings.
  24. Let’s go steal what’s out there! ‘The pirate, the thief and the spy” had to be a Leverage nod.
