  1. The incels and their particular kind of villainy were shown much earlier. Most of the "last episode reveals" are more teasers for upcoming projects (US Agent and Yelena?, even Agatha, now, Kang, so on). Marvel has a long history of using the end of one project to tease the next one, and that's all I'm seeing as a pattern. None of these "last minute villains" is actually shown defeated at the end, after all. Or what @Dani said while we were cross posting.
  2. Except there are a lot of non misogynist men in this story. Just off the top of my head, Bruce, Pud, Emil and the entire support group, Jen's dad and brother, Matt. It isn't an "anti-man" thing; it's about how some people (male and female) display misogyny. But you have to be willing to look at the world from someone else's point of view sometimes to get that.
  3. There are definitely people I only know from their appearances on Graham too. Some of them are apparently shockingly famous.
  4. I'm rereading the Benjamin January mystery series by Barbara Hambly. They feature a main character who is "A Free Man of Color" (also the title of the first volume) who is a musician in 1830s New Orleans. It is very rich in historical detail and the settings, atmosphere, and characters are deeply engaging. The social classes and complex interactions of culture and race are intricately drawn but don't overwhelm. Usually those things end up connecting to the main mystery, either in suspects or in how information is obtained. There's a strong cast of supporting characters who add to the stories. The mysteries take place in a variety of settings too, from Blue Ribbon Balls, political events, the opera, and some move out of New Orleans, into Mexico, Texas, Haiti, Washington DC, and more. There are 19 books, and they are very good. (Can you tell I like them?)
  5. Because the producers want the show shut down, massive fines, and possibly criminal sanctions for cheating on a broadcast game show. That makes sense. Or, it just came to her late, as has happened to literally hundreds of contestants with thousands of answers.
  6. I checked that because I had the same thought. I really don't believe it was for a couple reasons, even though I couldn't see the other dancers clearly. One is that I've seen Orphan Black an inordinate number of times, and if it was filmed then, it definitely never aired. There were so few sestra dance scenes... Two, even Sarah never wore exposed thong panties like we saw on Jen. The style just didn't fit any of them. On a budget level, if we are going for the most budget friendly method, to buy footage from an entirety different production company doesn't make sense here, and I don't think they could film something like that. But, there is a small place in my head where Cosima is getting ready to fly to L.A....
  7. Technically she didn't say he had 100 monster kills, just 100 kills. I caught that right away and figured maybe his numbers included monster hunters. And no one acted like it was weird they didn't know him I'm guessing it's not a career with a lot of retirees.
  8. I love the contrast in this week's hallway scene versus last week's. This week all bright and casual (Jen clearly barely noticing she was fighting) in contrast to last week that was all dark and grungy and even had some crates for no obvious reason.
  9. While I understand that this isn't a lot of money compared to people like Ellen Degeneris, it's really difficult for me to feel bad for anyone who has that kind of money. Not in any way related to her death (which is many kinds of tragedy), but in general. The majority of Americans would be ecstatic to have "only" $400,000. Similarly, while I agree Brittany Griner was targeted and her imprisonment is an injustice, the arguments I keep hearing that she "had" to play in Russia because in the US she was "only" making $2 million a year. No one needs more than $2 million a year to live.
  10. It was definitely a go bag with a burner (flip) phone. I also didn't find it hard to believe that a scared girl who has been living on the run from abusive dad and whose primary caregiver speaks English with an accent didn't clearly enunciate her street address. You might be amazed at how often dispatchers can't understand 911 callers.
  11. Sorry I'm so late. It's been a week. 2/5 no *.
  12. How long since Stephen had covid? Maybe it hasn't been three months yet?
  13. Another thing I thought they are showing well is that physical abuse tends to make the victim automatically sympathetic. But this emotional and financial control and abuse isn't so easy to see and many people don't get what's so bad about it, or why she doesn't just leave, or why she doesn't do x, y or z. But this is a very common form of abuse.
  14. I feel like not that long ago in the regular game they accepted Caesar as an answer. My irritation in this game felt worn out, as in, I've already been upset at this. But I'm not up to checking now. I did like Constance's big wagers, and that she pulled them off. I couldn't exactly figure out what she wrote for FJ though. I was rooting for her by the end.
  15. So sad and yet so typical of this kind of bad guy that a woman's worst "sin" is her sexuality. And this episode, actually part way through, I realized this series does have a Big Bad, and it isn't Titania. It's misogyny. That is the thing Jen (and Mallory and Nicki and even Titania) are really fighting all season.
  16. That is a slogan for the city, but they definitely were not liking the category. Due to their random board hopping, they did land first in a weird and badly written clue (too long and not clearly worded), but they were going after Austin the person too. That's one thing that gets me when too many comedians get together. Their "cleverness" can get a little mean spirited as they try to up each other. That's what I felt this group was doing.
  17. I don't know if there's any truth to this, or if it's just old fashioned sexism, but I remember some thing I read many years (decades?) ago, that suggested Dune is much more enjoyed by male brains, as compared to LOTR, for example. I read it, but only because I felt like I had to, as a SF fan. I found it boring and didn't connect with any of the characters.
  18. And his point was that she was acting like if she ignored it, everything would go away. [I can't get this weird quote box to go away.]
  19. Is there a reason to assume it's deliberately misspelled versus someone who just doesn't know the spelling?
  20. I thought it wss a (very dumb) play on his former show, Andy Richter Controls the Universe. She made a quick (equally vapid) comment about Ego and Simu too.
  21. Just ride that feeling and enjoy it without too much analysis. It's good for you to feel smart.
  22. Although he (or Tony), might have decided to make one for the Abomination too.
  23. It was kind of weird, but basically Ken got stuck next to her character on a flight back from Paris. She was so annoying he kept ordering alcohol (though I understand in real life he doesn't drink--it didn't feel like they thought the audience would know that though). There was a line about how he's a "minor celebrity" and then another about how he knows everything. Ken isn't in it past the opening scene though.
