  1. I'm of an age where professional women were taught to use a lot of men's sexism against them. So, if he thinks you're a sweet little thing and doesn't take you seriously, you can make him underestimate you and take advantage. Sometimes that can work. But I love seeing younger women who were taught to speak out about it. And I really love seeing them being listened to.
  2. I'm sure the prosecutors have looked into Baldwin's history of firearms training. A lot of people keep suggesting that he wouldn't know how to check the gun, but I have no idea what his background is with firearms. I'm guessing they do, though, and have evaluated his conduct with that in mind too. If he actually has training or experience to know how to tell live round from blank, I'm sure that's something we will eventually learn in the litigation. And how much of the safety problems on set he was supposed to be involved with as a producer as well.

And he would have had a built in group of other friends in the other partners' wives and girlfriends. No more "falling back on Niles!"
  4. They probably asked him about his own weapon handling practices on set, as that would be very relevant to the investigation.
  5. Wow! Thank you. I remember Monday feeling very easy to me (IEIYKI), and just presumed at least one of them got it.
  6. Best week ever, I think. And they were either instaget or wild guess. 5/5, 1*. I'm trying to thaw crawfish stuffed chicken, which I'm happy to share.
  7. Even though he did a lot of tv music, as soon as I saw "Mike Post" I immediately said Law & Order.
  8. I amused myself thinking of all the different versions of his name and which they might accept. Was just "Bones" enough? Dr. McCoy? Leonard McCoy? Did it have to include Dr.? Is McCoy alone enough? Not terrible game but easy on my brain after a very long day.
  9. Thank you! It's nice to know I'm not the only one!!
  10. Last week set me up, and if I hadn't thought about it, I might have had a sweep week. But between Thursday and Friday games I realized I was on the verge of a perfect FJ! week--which I superstitiously believe jinxed myself. So...4/5, 1*. Still an impressive week, but Friday was a let down.
  11. Actually, for good or ill, fair or not, juries do decide if a defense of extreme emotional disturbance, not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, et al. A determination of whether a defendant is currently capable of assisting in his own defense/understanding the charges against him is fine by a judge after evaluation by at least two psych experts. If everyone agrees he is incompetent it's pretty straightforward. If it is contested, there is a hearing and the judge decides. Two very different procedures.
  12. I was hoping that they would track down who tipped off ICE about the housekeeper and use that to strengthen their case against the CEO.
  13. I recently got near stage orchestra tickets very reasonably. But I'm going on Thursday night, so I think its about being willing to go on "unpopular" nights/shows.
  14. I haven't ever seen that one, and now I don't know if I should watch it for further context, or should definitely avoid it. Or watch while doing something else? I lived this episode. Barbara was perfection, Gregory's dad was exactly as I imagined, Janine's issues ring perfectly true, and the fantasy football team ups were great. The kids, as always, are a constant delight in their truth and vivacity. Love this show!
  15. Vermont sentences are often not what they seem, however. I remember a recent case where a defendant was sentenced to one to three years in prison. His jail sentence was considered satisfied after eight days.
  16. I have zero interest in wrestling but I enjoy this show a lot. Because I was alive in the 1980s, I have an idea who many of the really famous wrestlers were, but it doesn't distract or reduce my enjoyment.
  17. 4/5. Starting the new year out strong. I was also out of town for the beginning of the week and watched the whole week at one go this morning.
  18. 3/5 1*. We discussed the Here Comes Santa Claus at the office Christmas party and my boss thinks I'm super smart for loving J! He says he only gets two or three right each show. But he keeps watching, which maybe says something about why I think he's a good boss.
  19. Because no human being needs $245 million dollars. No matter what they do. And as for righting past salary wrongs, I don't see that money going to the players of years past who were the actual people with those unfair contracts that left players with little agency. Or how about current issues? The people who work concessions, clean facilities, and otherwise make the games possible. How about they all get living wages? On the merchandise issue, how about some of that obscene money is used to make those products here and pay THOSE people a living wage? Or, if the stuff must be made overseas, the people there could be paid decently. I know that would reduce the profits of the millionaire and billionaire class, but it would also make an enormous impact for good. Instead, we complain that people playing a game are only paid in the millions, and poor things, have to supplement those poverty wages. At the end of the day, the wealthy are riding the backs of the poor, in the US or Qatar. (If you can't tell, I'm not a big fan of the sports economy.)
  20. Farmer Boy was always my favorite of the books and it has a lovely Christmas too.
  21. Tom Hanks was on the Graham Norton Show, and he said he loved the original too and that's part of the reason he wanted the character's name to be changed. He said they also consulted with the original filmmakers who apparently liked what he wanted to do with the story. The only clip I saw was pretty good. The female neighbor made me like her in the quick clip a lot.
  22. I might have missed week 13, which was 3\5 no *. week 14 is 3/5, no *. End of year pattern?
  23. 4/5 with 1 * and 2 Chris * Quite the turnaround from last week. On Monday I knew a lot of people it WASN'T, but that didn't help. I did love all the Carol Ryrie Brink love; I grew up where she lived at the end of her life and spent many hours at her museum. (So I definitely never thought of her, knowing she ended up nowhere near New England!)
