I just started reading this and after the first awesome 15 or so chapters, it veers off the edge for me. I am still enthralled, love her writing....it’s just very far fetched in the shallow LA scene...if only it were so easy to meet the beautiful and famous!!! I LOVE her riffing on the beautiful and famous tho. It’s just how I imagined it, even worse than NY where I spent the last almost 30 years, thank god for the midwest...HOME! I read What Remains on vacation a few years ago....good read, very moving story. However I could never get past NYHW Carole and her possibly embellishing her friendship with Carolyn Bassett. I think I remember her saying Anthony told her from the beginning he was infertile, I won’t swear to it! He’d already had cancer once when they married, that may have made him infertile. I could be totally wrong here, don’t flame me for being stupid! :)

I think what likely happened between them is that Beth is A LOT, she is one of those people who would be great for awhile then she just gets draining....sometimes friends don’t mix well (see: you’re embarrassed for me to be around your other friends), it’s best to keep them separate. I understand how this was Carole probably backing off a little when she should have just told B the truth....you’re exhausting, and I can’t be your bff every second of the day instead of just being aloof and a being an all out bitch. Actually, I just figured out I am the Bethanny in a friendship. The problem is, when the Carole NEEDS something/someone she expects the Beth to be there and the B is like....fuck you. I am also very witty, kind of mean sometimes, and a little off putting for some folks. I, like Beth, am at the fuck you stage....you can’t have it both ways! Never thought I would say this.....team Beth! But I see Carole’s point.

I appreciate the lesson, but for heavens sake....she was dressed like, well.....a homeless person. I just found it odd., and maybe a little insulting! That soup kitchen looked pretty fancy too!! I was afraid of the aldi chard, but the alcohol content was 13.5% alcohol which usually means I won’t want to die the next day.
