  1. Keila and Ryan in Thailand. I remember this repeat. The first thing I remembered is how he can’t eat with chop sticks. (He lifts food up, and then he dives in like a predator bird rather than moving the chop sticks to his mouth.) He’s living on his savings (??) from his time as a farm worker. He nagged his girlfriend to move from California to Thailand because he’d spent ELEVEN days there once. I feel like we’re witnessing the beginnings of a cult with him as Spiritual Leader who has sex with all of the female followers, and Kaila is his 1st Wife.
  2. I quit watching after season 8 but have been following the Garlin story. Him walking Erica down the aisle would’ve been a big moment, but put a schlubby person in a tux and film them from the back and you’ve got the church scene and Father/Daughter dance. This investigation has been going on for a couple months, so they could’ve pre-filmed it even. With Wendi’s comment: I think lots of people noticed Murray’s lack of screen time, but everyone was an ancillary character circling Bev’s (toxic) presence. And the cast is huge — if anything this seems like more of a problem for the writers. And how many actors complain about having more screen time? What slack?
  3. I liked the chemical engineers in Cincinnati. Their requests were pretty standard given their price range though I was surprised to see an unfinished basement. Still glad they picked the 3rd house. They won’t be isolated after moving to a new area even if they have a shared area in back. The father and daughter in Point Pleasant? I turned it off when the agent mentioned they’d been disagreeing about the other houses he’d shown them, and then she started telling Dad which walls to tear out in the first room in the first house. Will Your Highness be paying cash or credit? Add in her stuffy nasally voice and I decided life was too short.
  4. Whenever they show houses that have the grand foyer or the main floor is open all the way to the attic I immediately think how difficult it’s going to be to heat and cool the place in addition to the cost. HH rarely talk about utilities cost. Isn’t that a standard discussion when buying a home?? He was especially attached to them and wanted to create a family legacy though. I think having a couple of rooms where the kids aren’t allowed to play isn’t a big ask when they have the family room, their bedrooms, and the backyard to run around and destroy. I agree with the previous poster that he’s still in mourning for his mother. The furniture is the best he can do to maintain a connection to her. I’m glad he was focused on the sentimental value and not the monetary value of the “antiques.” Great Grandma might’ve owned a Queen Anne couch but it’s still a replica she bought in 1950 when the kids moved out and she could afford it.
  5. So no Christmas at the Inn episode? Rats.
  6. The actor playing Jay deserves all the awards. All of them. This was excellent.
  7. Baldwinsville: Wife’s voice irritated me, and she seemed to say stuff to say stuff. A few of my favorites: ”They probably had the bed right here.” Gee, what gave it away, the depressions in the carpet? “It feels really brown.” THATS BECAUSE IT’S BROWN. ”I don’t like the color.” “I like the color.” “The colors are right.” “I really like the paint color.” Say ‘color’ one more time, Tana. Despite my list, I liked them well enough. My personal favorite was the 2nd house (would’ve blown out that sunken living room straight off) but the first house seems like a no brainer for them and their needs. Does anyone remember their initial bid vs. final price? I’d started tuning out and didn’t catch it. I know it was $100K over their original budget. Tia!
  8. Single lawyer in Kansas, one daughter and talked about fostering: I figured her insistence on an older home was the red herring because the 3rd house was a new build, and they always pick the new build. The house she picked was still only 20 years old (as opposed to the 100 year old house), but someone didn’t pick the new build!
  9. They made it seem like MaxDot’s a small company when it supports 4 adults with affluent lifestyles. And Bob’s massive 3 story home (two floors with a dormer attic) is only 3 bedroom, and Dele has to sleep on the couch in the living room? Bob wants to be retired in 10 years meanwhile Abishola will barely be finished with med school and training by then, and they’ve discussed having their own child. Their life goals seem to be out of sync, and Bob’s retirement will be full time stay-at-home Dad if those all work out. Not much boat time in his future. I so felt Dele’s pain about sleeping on the couch, though. I’m the single in my family, so that’s me. Mom goes to sleep around 2:00am, and Dad’s up by 5:00. If I get 2 hours of sleep a night I’m lucky.
  10. I didn’t like the coat’s blazer cut but thought the materials were beautiful. The shirts Calvin was wearing didn’t do the coat justice — something like that needs to be worn as part of an ensemble not something you toss on to fetch coffee when it gets chilly. Am I the only one who would’ve been pissed off at Dave? I splurge on a statement piece, and my friend goes out and buys the same thing? Maybe men don’t care, but to me it feels like proposing at someone else’s wedding.
  11. He admits he’s done and said the things in the complaint, and this is the 3rd time HR has come to him about his behavior. He said he won’t hug anyone any more, but the rest of it is just his normal onset behavior, no one has ever complained on other sets, and if they don’t like it that’s their problem. He’s not giving them much wiggle room, and at what point do the people who made charges have a case against the show that they allowed three sets of complaints? What do you bet it comes down to a cost-benefit analysis, which is cheaper: Pay off the people who made complaints and pretend it’s all love and rainbows for viewers and advertisers, or fire Garlin?
  12. Thanks for mentioning it was available! I only watched S7 recently, so it was a nice treat to not have to wait another year. Their Preserves Room had me drooling. I read somewhere else they weren’t able to have any weddings in 2021, either. I hope they’re making enough money with the TV show. (And more than enough to survive, enough so they’re not stressed about another year without events.) They’re so likeable and they’ve worked so hard for so many years. I want them to be an incredible success!
  13. I can’t see them getting rid of any ghosts yet. We’re only halfway through the first season, the show is popular, and the ghosts all have roles that contribute to different times in history or different functions (like Trevor and Pete; they’re roughly contemporaries, but Pete is the old-fashioned family guy and Trevor the hedonist single.) I think the writers have some luxury and can save the dramatic events for later when needed. (Except Crash, but I get the feeling he’s been Judy Winslow’d.)
  14. Maybe it’s the editing, David himself, or even one of the show’s goals, but I tend to like most of the lottery winners. The whole show has a positive energy even when the winners have budgets more in line with House Hunters than Million Dollar Listing (which I don’t watch so I hope its title means they sell really expensive homes.)
  15. Oh, sorry! I meant the baby gates on the stairs inside. I agree that patio needs another fence around the pool.
  16. Surgical resident and Mechanical engineer/consultant in Tampa. I liked her, but he was one of those who can’t admit anything is nice about a property if he doesn’t want it. And yeah, baby gates are annoying, but is that really reason enough to complain as much as he did. They seemed to have a nice relationship, though, and there weren’t any snide comments about her Mom living with them.
  17. Jenny and Bill (?) in Texas. How many different ways and how many different times could she say she didn’t like her in laws? I completely agree that a little space from immediate friends and family is good, but she kept hammering on it. She didn’t want any version of his childhood from the type of the house to the pool or location. Also, defensive much? He remarks they met when a pretty woman sat next to him at university, and she’s like, “and smart.” Yeah, he for sure knew you were smart when you sat down, and he noticed your IQ. Houses were all contemporary boxes with the upscaled fixtures you’d expect in that price range. I think they’re going to end up moving because they’re going to realize how important it is to have some outdoor play area for the kids. If he wants that big of a house with a pool they’re going to have to invest in a larger property.
  18. Yep. In interviews Giuseppe has mentioned 3 sons and that he never told where he was going. I feel they incorporated the Father to explain why Giuseppe was working back home in Milan—he’s supposedly commuting though they didn’t say how often he travels between countries—and a great segue to promote their book. (I wonder if the Bake Off receives any royalties like other talent competitions that take profits from album sales or such.)
  19. So happy for Giuseppe though there were moments where I thought each one of them would win. I wonder how Crystelle didn’t notice the problem with the bread before she presented it, and I agree it’s why she didn’t win. I love the idea of her and Chiggs together!
  20. I’m laughing at Crash. Does anyone remember the movie “Soap Dish” with Robert Downey Jr, Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, and a host of other name actors? If you haven’t seen it, it’s a movie about the behind the scenes drama of a daytime soap opera and they’re going to bring back Kevin Kline’s character after 20 years just to piss off Sally Field, and it turns out he’d been written off the show by being decapitated in a car crash. It sets up a great scene for Whoopi where she’s yelling at the director, “I can’t write for someone WHO DOESN’T HAVE A HEAD!”
  21. So much drama. How many social issues in the 20 past years have they not touched on in the first 9 episodes? I’ll call it now: Cop Restaurant Owner/Wife will adopt a baby from a teenage mother.
  22. I noticed on 2nd watch that Noel mentioned that this would be the hardest week for the contestants to be asked to leave, to get so far and not make it to the finals. Meanwhile Matt expressed sympathy for the judges. I don’t remember Noel being this thoughtful of the contestants in previous years. (Also with Maggie and George this season.) I always felt it was a contest between him and Matt to see who could be the bigger jackass. For this season I’ll remember Matt for comparing his shaved head to George’s sugar dome, which I’ll give him was funny.
  23. THORFINN LEARNED LESSON THAT HE MUST BE SORRY TO APOLOGIZE. THORFINN APOLOGIZIES TO NO ONE AGAIN.
  24. I have no idea who Rob Zombie is, so I'll gladly accept your and Enimaga's word for it. :-)
