  1. East Mesa, AZ: Something about Sheera provoked a strong dislike in me. Bland (or b-l-a-n if you watched Four Weddings), no chin, bad hair, bad glasses, no imagination on how to make houses reflect her own “taste.” I liked him telling her to stop looking at the finishes and focus on the space. And they could totally move two kids into the same room and use one of the non-master bedrooms until the kids are old enough to not need them overnight. And that kid sitting on the counter with bare feet no less? Just kill me.
  2. If they can afford $9000/month for just rent, what the hell is her salary, what does she do, and how can I get her job?
  3. In normal times I think Carol’s attorney would love to charge a nice, expensive trip to San Francisco to depose Amy rather than drag Amy back to St. Louis or handle over Zoom. Amy’s the key to it all. She’s the one who assigned Carol to work with One N Glen. She’s the one who told Carol that Glen wasn’t working right. And when Carol said didn’t know much about fixing it, Glenn piped in that he had faith in her. So why they’re trying to pin this on Glenn instead of Amy is a puzzler. Amy also has a history of this: Marcus wasn’t trained on the meat slicer in the deli and lost his thumb (“Strawberry Jam.”) An aside: I worked fast food when younger and had a colleague who was sweet but dense as a rock. She kept getting written up for things like not cleaning the ketchup dispenser, but she never called in and was liked by customers and staff. Then one day she amputated part of her finger in the meat slicer. The cleaning rules were very clear: Slicer unplugged. Blade flush against guide. You must wear chain mill gloves. She had the damn thing running, it was on the thickest setting, she wasn’t wearing gloves and was dipping a wet cloth into the spinning blade to clean it. Of course the teeth caught the cloth and pulled her hand into the blade. She tried to hide it(!) by running into the bathroom and wrapping band aid after band aid on it. Her hysterical sobbing clued people into the problem. She lost the tip of an index finger down to the nail bed, iirc. I moved shortly after that and don’t remember if she got fired for repeated violations or if she sued bc obviously she hadn’t been trained well enough to know how to avoid cutting off her finger.
  4. Makes me wonder: How much is filmed face-to-face? I saw a clip from The Goldbergs where a one-time, minor character filmed his portion by himself at home (green screen) and they digitally put him into a scene with Beverly. Ben wrote here that after the table read he clicked and they were gone...almost as if he’d never see them again. I haven’t had the feeling they’re filming separately, but it’d help explain the inconsistencies with masks and distancing.
  5. With all respect, “entitled elitists” seems a bit harsh. If the show can underplay their wealth, why can’t it overplay their demands? The real family is full of self-achievers. Pops, Murray and two sons are physicians. Adam has been writing and winning awards since he was a child; he’s had 3 shows on tv and written for others. These are people who work for their successes, and I guess I don’t understand why learning they had financial resources is such a sea change. It’s not as if they’re portrayed as scraping by a la Roseanne. 🤷‍♀️
  6. Really liked this episode. Nice to see George having a good episode after last week's references to depression and crisis, and glad Mary loosened the reins on Missy even if it were Georgie's advice that led her there. She can't be Prom Queen if you don't let her go to the Prom, Mary. Billy was so sweet and well-mannered. I didn't think Dale's ex was trying to ruin Connie's night per se. She and Dale give as good as they get, and she knows Connie knows the kind of relationship they have. If anything, I'd think Connie would be wondering why Dale was so upset. He's asked her to marry him yet gets so jealous he lets it upset him at his kid's wedding? I'd shelve that conversation until we were both sober, but it'd be on the agenda for the next date. I thought Dave Foley looked exactly as he did on The New Adventures of Old Christine, just a little greyer. His voice hasn't changed at all. Nice add to the show!
  7. Having the mural spark memories was such a nice ending, but I was wondering all episode why Delia and Michelle would arrange and fundraise for a surprise tribute. Shouldn't they have asked Wade? "We'd like to honor Jill by..." The widows meeting reminded me of an episode of "The Golden Girls" when Dorothy was giving a toast to Stanley's therapist telling him to stay away. "Here's to husbands being out of our lives forever!" The other Girls started crying and when Dorothy asked why Rose answered, "Because our husbands are dead you monster." (It's not a perfect analogy, but that's what I thought about watching all the widows cry.) It was great Ben was so happy for Addie when he thought she'd won. For the money Forrest spent bribing his colleagues he probably could've bought enough bars to win.
  8. I hate physical comedy. Kat falling over the railing, the mustache wax, eating the soup, running into the waitress. It's all so telegraphed. The only thing they didn't do was have her hit heads with someone when she bent down/stood up after running into the waitress. So Max is falling for Kat? Are we getting into a bad timing storyline? Puh-leaze. And Kat left out the part where she was thinking about Max because she'd just pictured him in bed. New shoes on the table is supposed to be bad luck. It was driving me nuts, but it also reminded me of seeing Shaun and David Cassidy in "Blood Brothers" on Broadway, so that was nice. Shaun Cassidy was my first crush, and when I was around 8 I used to pretend I was married to him. lol. "New Shoes on the Table" was one of the songs in the show. The performance at the end was fun, but if this show gets renewed I think it means FOX has given up. Thursday has to be a tough night, too, up against a lot of other sitcoms. I think if they wanted it to do better they'd put it on another day.
  9. $10 million? Carol wasn't permanently injured. She's able to still do the same job. Some money, sure, but she shouldn't get boat money! Sandra and Matteo had the best part. I don't get the lawyer and Jonah. She's a practicing attorney, and he's a minimum wage, business school dropout who spent all day lying to her or trying to get others to lie to her. The show kinda ruined the veterinarian for me with the sharing arrangement, but I'd rather Dina be with him. Garrett deserves better. I think just 4 more weeks with 2 episodes on the final week.
  10. The Real Bev shared on Twitter last night that she taught her kids to stand up for themselves but not to be obnoxious or OTT with demands like the show stretched it last night. Adam isn’t connected to the show any longer, and it seems she’s a little frustrated with how the writers and runners are portraying the family.
  11. The writers have been reading feedback? Acknowledging $$ of 2nd breakfast, prospects of Katy’s vlog. Loved it! Franklin had a jingle, took station breaks. Insult Cooper’s personality, but don’t you dare go after his shoes. I feel like Oliver spends the first 3/4 of every episode disrespecting Cooper. I’d like to see Taylor move on, so Trip’s work friend is a good direction. Greg is such a nice guy he has to get someone to help save his Orangina. I love Wendie Malick.
  12. Wow, Erica. Dropped a sexual abuse accusation just to cut in line? I know it was just a practice exercise, but the show played it for laughs! Want to get your way? Make a heinous allegation! Unbelievable.
  13. Phoenix: Standard but low key conflict where one wants a new build while the other wants to earn sweat equity with a fixer upper. That 3rd house with the loft space, upper deck, view, and pool. omg. I’m so glad they picked it and have some money to update. (Though I hope they don’t go with the contemporary all white kitchen etc. where it’ll end up just as dated in 10 years.) I really hope HH does a follow-up with them! I want to see how the house turns out.
  14. Right before the opening scene she also advised George to spank Sheldon to get him out of bed. Then George admitted Mary wouldn't let him! hehe. An aside: Pre-covid I was at the grocery store during the after work rush, and a manager told this guy carrying a hand basket that he could go to the express line and the guy said, "I can't. She said we had too many items." I thought the manager was going to stroke out and he demanded, "Who said that??" Everyone in the check out area could hear this and knew whichever express clerk had turned him away was going to have some tough questions to answer, but then the man said, "My wife." Everyone burst out laughing, and the manager didn't say a word, just patted the guy on the shoulder and walked away. I think about that guy every time I go to the grocery store or see a man get henpecked.
  15. I'm so sorry you lost your home. I hope the move to PA brought good changes for you.
  16. Several laughs in this one. “More pants.” I hope the philosophy’s done. I wonder if Georgie’s boss can set some ground rules — at least for attendance — since that’s where Georgie’s priorities are: Go to school or don’t come to work. Very little Mary in the episode for some reason. I’m worried about George.
  17. I agree you have to pick your battles at times, but this is daily SOP it seems. You have to weigh every interaction, every sentence, every action to pre-determine if it’s going to set them off. Their wrath is a feature not a flaw. Tammy needs to move out and take away Marjorie’s authority. (Fwiw, I don’t think Marjorie wants to be like that, but Tammy has been in her space for a while, and Marjorie wants her life to be exactly as she wants it and is beyond choosing her battles. Their friendship will be much better once Tammy moves if Tammy leaves before the big blow out fight, which is going to happen if she stays, happens.) Bonnie, on the other hand, is going to end up alone when Adam gets tired of tiptoeing around her moods. 🤷‍♀️
  18. Leaving NYC for NJ: The one house looked like a flip from a tv show where they only do a couple rooms and leave the rest unrennovated. I liked the one they picked, but the corgi stole the episode.
  19. I thought the show handled the de facto break-up smoothly. No one’s the bad guy, and the kid gets to be near his dad and extended family. I don’t know what Shannon/ex’s financial arrangement was, but I presume it’d be like having a roommate move out. He was paying support (which she was using to help fund her half of the rent and utilities) while he was still contributing his half of the rent and utilities as a roommate would, so she’d need to replace that money somehow. Did we always know it wasn’t Shannon’s restaurant? She’s just a chef working shifts? I feel they retconned that to make the move possible. I don’t like the neurotic direction they’re taking Delia and Forrest mostly because it isn’t funny.
  20. I like Trevor, but I don’t want him with Jill because it’s basically saying the only person who could tolerate being with her is a therapist. I want her end game to be more than that. Loved that the cats ate the salmon because Marjorie had to tell Tammy what she was doing wrong this time. (She’ll blame Tammy for that, too.) Adam’s and Tammy’s decision to not engage isn’t a solution though. A casual acquaintance maybe, but using it as a coping mechanism/way of life with your partner isn’t sustainable. At some point you have to resolve the underlying conflict or move on otherwise you get sneaky, passive aggressive behavior like buying an RV.

    All Episodes Talk

I want no part of a reboot since John Mahoney will be missing. The series ended on a good note with everyone starting new chapters in their lives. Happily ever after. End of story.
  22. I’m fine with this. I think the quality this season was on par with the last year or two, but it’s not worth renegotiating contracts or incurring increased costs. Close it down, collect the residuals from syndication. Hopefully the writers have known for a while so they can structure a series finale — maybe that’s what Adam’s RV is for? He hires a manager for the bar, and he and Bonnie ride into the sunset. Tammy takes over Bonnie’s job and apartment. Marjorie and WhatsHerName are settled and keep on keeping on. It’s Jill’s story that needs work for a happy ending. It can’t be a new relationship since those never last for her, and it’d be too convenient if Andy comes back for a happily ever after. Jill needs a mission in life, but when have her missions ever lasted past the initial honeymoon phase?
  23. San Francisco: The 2nd place was best for them, but I wish they’d gone with the 3rd house, the single family with the unfinished ground level. I’d really like to see what it looks like and how much the value has increased once someone spends the time and money to finish it out.
