  1. Wonder if Roxy responds to commands in Dutch? It's been a while since I've seen Sherilyn Fenn, and I confess I was taken out of the episode many times because she looked remarkably like a former coworker (who happens to be 15 years older!) Nice to see Paget again.
  2. This show is about firefighters the same way that Pitch is about baseball. It's a soap where the characters happen to dress in turnout coats and wear rubber boots. My sis in law was once married to a firefighter and always hated any TV show about firefighters because they all turned into soaps (L. A. Firefighters I'm looking at you.) Am I the only one who thinks Hothead Jimmy is the one on fire in the previews?
  3. No offense to random chance, but this is the typo (Freudian typo?) of the week!
  4. This. And has Robert Clohessy really been typecast as cops for 30 years?? (Since Hill Street Blues)
  5. I'm not a cop, but my suggestion would be to make him a Field Training Officer. He gets the promotion but still wears the uni and shows up on the street.
  6. Seems many here didn't recognize Bess Armstrong. Anyone else old enough to remember her in "The Four Seasons" with Alan Alda et al? She would have been around 28 at that time, and decent-looking. I'm with Netfoot regarding Hayley Atwell....
  7. Chekhov's Significant Other: The camera seemed to linger a long time on the photo of Forlani and the other woman. My hunch is that the other woman is dead and that the death has something to do with Forlani being "retired," and the death was at the hand of the Chess Piece Killer.
  8. I'd like to see Baker get a story some time. She must be capable of more than just opening the door to say "XX is here to see you, Commissioner."
  9. I agree with these points, and will add a personal pet peeve-establishing shots that look nothing like the location to be established. I guess the viewers are supposed to be too dumb to notice.
  10. @ReidFan: I caught it also. Kudos to you, my kind of suble humor. I'm not a writer, but I do collect this sort of thing in a text file on the laptop.
  11. For several years I was told by credible people that there was someone in my metro area of 5 million who looked enough like me that they saw "me" in various places, driving various vehicles, etc. Me, I felt sorry for the poor bugger if he looked like me... I knew a pilot for a major airline who got his start as a bush pilot in Alaska.
  12. Had to comment on the surgeon trope. I went to school with a kid who became a well-known surgeon in our area. He even operated on Mrs. Torqy, as well as several others we know. My best friend used to say the kid was 50 years old when he was 12. Very serious. A friend of ours is a semi-retired ob-gyn, and of course knows Mr. Serious Surgeon. Gyn's opinion echoes that mentioned above, that surgeons don't want/need to get to know the patient, they just repair 'em and move to the next one. Mrs. Torqy's primary doc is a lady in her early 70's, very old school (paper charts!) who actually listens to her patients. I would enjoy seeing someone like her show up on one of the many hospital dramas as a contrast to the young Turks.
  13. I'm wearing a C-collar because I suffered whiplash from the abrupt present-past-present-past shifts. That said, I'll stick around to see just how absurd this season can get.
  14. Mrs. Torqy swears that Lexi handed off the cat crate to a woman on a crowded sidewalk as they passed, spy-movie like. I rewound and watched a few times; I'm still not sure. I'll miss this show. Someone above called it the "spiritual successor" to Columbo. I concur. There is a lot to like about Canadian shows (I'm USAan). The ending shot reminded me, in a way, of the ending of L&O: Criminal Intent. There is much to be said for quitting while you're ahead. Too many shows just seem to drag on for far too many seasons.
  15. I knew I recognized that guy. I hope shapeshifter, Jaded and I are not the only 3 watching this show.
  16. Sadly, all too true (and Ice T isn't really even featured!) and reasons why I have officially given up on this show. Mrs. Torqy will watch it until she shuffles off to Buffalo (in syndication you can't escape it) but I'm out. After reading the comments above, I guess a new showrunner hasn't made much of an improvement. So many shows that once were good have been kept alive on ventilators and feeding tubes...
  17. Thanx for mentioning this. I do have Prime, and will look into this book. Mrs. Torqy is a true-crime junkie.
  18. Like some others here I never followed this case much after the initial eruption. I had forgotten that there even was a brother. I only remember vague ideas that the parents may have been involved. One thing that I haven't seen addressed yet is what hold the Ramseys had on the City of Boulder. Did they own all of the outstanding municipal bonds? Yes they were wealthy (seemingly); did they have photos of the mayor with a goat? With a circle of "friends" that extensive, I find it hard to believe that someone who was jealous of/slighted by them didn't break the silence. At this point I am in the Burke Did It camp, only because any other theory seems even more bizarre and unlikely. That, and the fact that no sane person spreads crap around the house.
  19. I am not on Facebook (or LinkedIn) but am told by friends who are, that most of what Bull's crew learned about people can be readily gleaned from The Facebook (tm Provenza) or Google searches. This looks like a mashup of Lie to Me and a film from 2003 with Gene Hackman called Runaway Jury. Lots of H!ITG's here. No one else watched the first season of Night Shift? Freddy Rodriguez was amusing playing the stand-in for James Earl Jones-Lite.
  20. Vanessa Ferlito will always be "Claaauuudia!!!" from 24. Maybe Joaquim de Almeida will show up in a guest role.... Read the "Meredith Brody" thread in this forum and then wonder, like me, if there is something going on beneath the surface between Zoe McLellan and the production co.
  21. Glad that Archie Panjabi landed here. Now that we have both her and Dylan Baker from The Good Wife, I'm wondering if Zach Grenier will be next, fresh from Brain Dead. I'm wondering if the tats will be more in the background this season. It already has a 24-ish feel.
  22. coughChinacough, coughIrancough for example...
  23. The whole episode, Mrs. Torqy and I were trying to figure out where we had seen Christina Cox (thanks @shapeshifter!) Turns out, on many previous shows! Is it just me, or did they reveal the connection between victim and killer kinda early in this episode? Sometimes it is not tied up until the end. It took me a while to figure out that BombWoman's murdered daughter was the blond student. Usually, the victim is not sympathetic and the killer is, but in this plot both were kinda creepy. Did anyone see money being put in the "affair jar?"
  24. Mrs. Torqy sometimes watches My 600 lb. Life, and I decided that TLC is The Lipid Channel...
