  1. Charles seems to have aged better than Dominic West, who probably could have benefited by the use of a good sunscreen.
  2. Starz will be dropping all 8 episodes in three days. Amazon Video offers a 7-day free trial for Starz that I'll be taking advantage of. I was hoping that they'd stream all 8 episodes but I don't think that's correct.
  3. The Daily Mail says: "The Crown's Dominic West is the spitting image of Prince Charles". To convince any sceptics they post a sneak peek pic to prove it? WTF are they smoking? 🤦‍♀️
  4. That was my impression as well. Condemning an entire religion by the acts of a few extremists is why it failed for me. I'd be more interested to learn about the real cops who investigated this case and how they handled it.
  5. I think Allen felt safe in the holding cell and asked to stay there for the time being. How long, I don't know. I also have questions. Why would one family of wackos cause Jeb to have a crisis of faith? Being a cop surely he was aware that even Mormons have their share of criminals. These crazy families can be found everywhere. Why is it that "revelations" always seem to dovetail seamlessly with what the guy wants to do anyway? It's uncanny. And why don't women receive revelations?
  6. I watched part of the Depp/Heard court case, where he testified that she shat on his bed and left it there. Talk about airing your dirty laundry! From what I understand this lawsuit is about him claiming she ruined his reputation with false accusations. Who knows, but this isn't making him look any better. He's another star who's been corroded by excessive adulation.
  7. Episode 6, in the car with Taba and Pyre In a show without much humor it just struck me as funny.
  8. As a non-Mormon it's a little hard to follow at times, even though I've read some history and have known several Mormons who are fine people and not so different. I was confused in the first episode by Pyre's daughters dressed in pioneer-type dresses which I thought were worn only by fundamentalist Mormons, but I could be wrong. Even Pyre seems a bit too backward for being a cop. I feel Detective Taba as an outsider could have been used better to help the viewers understand what's going on, but it's like he's only on board to satisfy some diversity policy of Hulu's rather than to lend clarity. Nice seeing Adelaide Clemens (Rectify) and Seth Numrich (Ben from TURN: Washington's Spies) again. The acting is good but the writing is kind of a mess, IMO. More messy confusion: THREE recent docudramas about Mormons and true crime in 3 different forums. It's no wonder even the search engine can't find shows. 1. Home > TV Shows > Drama > Other Dramas > Under The Banner Of Heaven 2. Home > Beyond TV Shows > Other TV Talk > Specials, TV Movies & Other One-Offs > Murder Among the Mormons 3. Home > TV Shows > Talk, News & Non-Fiction > Other Non-Fiction Shows > Preaching Evil: A Wife On The Run With Warren Jeffs
  9. I love this scene from BB when Saul meets Skyler. His oily charms apparently didn't work for her.
  10. This should be a wake-up call, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Kim and Jimmy at least partially blaming Howard for his own death by being there to confront them. From what I've seen they have problems owning up to their own culpability in things. Soda update: I just tried it on a can of rootbeer, this time only turning it about 10 times. Got a little spray, but not too bad.
  11. I thought Howard was just exaggerating to make a point. Couples can become dangerous when no one says "Wait, this is wrong."
  12. Okay I just tried the soda can trick. Shook the shit out of a can of carbonated sparkling water then turned it about 20 times. It works! I did open it outside just in case, but it's not flat or foamy - more like I never shook it at all. Howard knew his way around beverages. I'll miss him.
  13. In the film they were watching before Howard arrived, Judy Holliday is mentored by William Holden and becomes smarter. Kim is aided and abetted by Jimmy and becomes dumber. Super villain Lalo couldn't wait 5 minutes for their visitor to leave? OK. The only good thing about Howard's murder is it puts an end to this interminable obsession of theirs. Now the story can move in another direction which promises to be more exciting.
  14. I remember reading the book by Joe Bob Briggs, I mean John Bloom, and watched the series yesterday. I still can't picture Betty going for the axe. She may have said some things that set Candy off, but it's very frustrating not knowing what really happened. Usually experienced cops or prosecutors can draw conclusions but these guys weren't the brightest bunch. I love that the very first scene prominently shows Chekov's axe hanging there by the door.
  15. Thanks for the tip about the ebook sale, just downloaded it. I sort of remember the case from several true crime shows.
  16. Mike's "Pop Pop" routine is getting old. We get it, he's not totally bad, but even Hitler loved his mother deeply. Makes no difference to me.
  17. Kim's hair has been made almost a character in itself. Any significance that as a young girl she didn't wear a ponytail, yet as a professional woman she wears the ponytail of a young girl? Or have I caught the overanalyzing bug? lol
  18. When Kim did the hand-guns gesture last season, I groaned inwardly because it was pure hubris. In Greek tragedy it's a given that hubris will cause the Greek goddess Nemesis to inflict retribution for evil deeds. Kim's going down, and it should be disturbing but exciting to watch.
  19. I especially liked the video about how Howard was the object of displacement, it explains a lot.
  20. Will this be the halfway point in a 10 episode season?
  21. I've been watching this series again already to catch anything I may have missed. Love the scene with Pam staring at Betsy's dog as he whimpers and backs off. LOL Another thing I missed was Pam's choice of reading material. The weirdest scene was after she shot the disabled guy and the cop enters her house, she's in the kitchen making a sandwich! Man I love this show!
  22. IIRC, the whole Hilldale/Short Creek city is, or was, run by FDLS, including the police, city council, and schools.
  23. Finished the series in one day because I couldn't stop watching. I want more like this. Best show I've seen in a long time on TV and loved the Dateline tie-in and the dark comedy. Emmy awards all around, especially Renee.
  24. Had to sign up to Peacock to binge it, but it's free and not that many ads. This is so fascinating and darkly comic, I had no idea it was based on a real case. Watching too much true crime started to get to me and I had to cut way back, so it's all new. Loving it so far. The writing, acting, and pacing is outstanding for network TV and Renee is just superb. The guy playing Russ is either wearing a bad hair piece or has so much hair dye it's encroaching onto his forehead. Cracks me up.
  25. I watched the first episode, but to see the remaining three I'd have to sign up for "Peacock Premium" at $5.00 per month and I'm not sure it's worth it. His story is told by a few of his wives, one who was married to his father when she was 18 and he was 84. She doesn't sound totally deprogrammed yet.
