  1. According to the article Jonathan Pryce is “hugely disappointed by my fellow artists.” He did not mention Dench by name, but she was the latest actor to openly condemn the Netflix series. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2022-10-27/the-crown-jonathan-pryce-judi-dench-netflix It does seem hypocritical of an actor who made their living portraying others to suddenly criticize and demand a disclaimer. I'm sure Queen Victoria would have loved both of Dench's films featuring her dalliances with male servants.

  4. Who The Bleep Did I Marry? last night... maybe I'm biased or old fashioned, but whenever I hear the guy is going to be "Mr. Stay at Home Mom" while she supports him, it never ends well. Seems like it took her a long time to catch on. He was having pool parties with young boys, spent all his time texting, and never wanted to have sex with her.
  5. A few randos and freebies that piqued my interest... 6. "In an open letter to The Times UK, the Oscar winner slammed the Netflix original for its "inaccurate and harmful account of history" and "crude sensationalism". I agree, it's been inaccurate. They didn't disclose that Anthony Blount kept his job for years even after his role as a Soviet spy was discovered. They also portrayed Mountbatten as some kind of war hero when he was anything but. And I doubt we'll be hearing Charles & Camilla's phone sex talk. Judi Dench should STFU, it could be a lot worse.
  7. John Waters says he ran into Angela Lansbury at the Hellfire Sex club once. These would all make good episodes of Murder She Wrote. lol https://pagesix.com/2022/10/18/director-john-waters-saw-angela-lansbury-at-a-sex-club/
  8. Thanks, LuvMyShows. Looking forward to Holes hosting that show on HLN, and am listening to the podcasts "Buried Bones" right now. All new (to me) cases. https://www.exactlyrightmedia.com/buried-bones
  9. That was a good one, and new to me. Not so good for her husbands though. Has anyone heard about Paul Holes' new show or special? I only caught the tail end of a quick promo, but missed any pertinent info, naturally. Oxygen never updated "DNA of Murder" cases, and his podcast "Murder Squad" got the plug pulled because his co-host Billy Jensen had a drinking problem and a lot of pissed off females complaining about his touchy-feely behavior.
  10. I've been waiting a long time for this one to go on sale. The Red Prince: The Life of John of Gaunt, the Duke of Lancaster pages 337 .99 The Seeker: historical thriller set in Cromwell's London pages 286 3.99 The Damask Rose: Friendship of a queen of England comes at a price in this historical novel. pages 452 .99 There's a lot of freebies in the "Historical Mysteries" category. Some may be short stories but a few books looked kind of promising. The Watchmaker's Daughter pages 302 Free Lady Helena Investigates 1881, Sussex. With a drowned husband... pages 392 Free Past Crimes: A Compendium of Historical Mysteries pages 246 Free
  11. The Second Mrs. Astor: A Heartbreaking Historical Novel of the Titanic pages 338 Free w/Prime Fever: A Novel about 'Typhoid Mary' pages 401 1.99 Whisper of the Moon Moth novel set in 1930's about actress Merle Oberon pages 354 .99 The Woman on the Orient Express novel about Agatha Christie pages 331 1.99 The Blue Butterfly: A Novel of Marion Davies pages 352 .99
  12. Dateline yesterday, another 8 1/2 months pregnant female killed. Her boyfriend was arrested and tried twice but hung juries in both cases.
  13. There are so many cases of this that ID and Oxygen are dropping the ball by not having a themed show called Pregnicide, or something. Yesterday Dateline had a guy who killed his pregnant girlfriend, and it turns out he made two attempts to kill his previous pregnant girlfriend.
  14. Alexander Hamilton, by Ron Chernow pages 818 5.99 The Men Who Lost America, by Andrew Jackson O'Shaughnessy pages 497 2.99 A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America, by Stacy Schiff pages 615 1.99 12.99 Turncoat: Benedict Arnold and the Crisis of American Liberty, by Stephen Brumwell pages 393 2.99 11.99 The Life of John André: The Redcoat Who Turned Benedict Arnold pages 344 2.99 Benedict Arnold's Army: The 1775 American Invasion of Canada During the Revolutionary War pages 475 2.99
  15. Oxygen's premier episode of Black Widow Murders was a disappointing rehash of a case I'd already seen, probably on Deadly Women.
  16. I really enjoyed this episode. They should have called it "Accidents Happen". Henri is an idiot to think a female child had with a commoner counts as producing an heir, but I was worried about the baby when Diana got close to the window. Catherine's shrug during the tennis game was priceless. She's probably not the only one who wanted him dead, but the most likely suspect.
  17. I saw that on ID, right after Black Widows: Kiss, Marry Kill. The Home Health care field should give them plenty of stories, but the patient being in on it was a new twist!
  18. This series sounds like something I'd enjoy. Looking it up on Amazon, I see that two books of the series are on sale right now for $1.99, Heartstone and Sovereign. I may need to get both and wait for the rest. ;)
  19. Oxygen also has a new series called "Black Widow Murders" starting this Sunday. https://www.oxygen.com/black-widow-murders
  20. I read that they plan to start filming this coming spring, so it may be a while.
  21. The King's bedroom seems to be decorated by a taxidermist. The bed with matching bears maybe gets him in the mood, but is that a wild boar in the foreground? Who does that? Lots of emphasis on sex this week, not that I'm complaining. And what the hell is Mathilde up to?
  22. Now the first two Wolf Hall books are on sale, but the third and final, The Mirror and the Light, is back up to 11.99. Grrrr. Glad I grabbed it and can read the whole trilogy now in order. Wolf Hall: A Novel, by Hilary Mantel (book 1) pages 614 2.99 Bring Up the Bodies: A Novel by Hilary Mantel (book 2) pages 434 2.99 . The Devil's Queen: A Novel of Catherine de Medici, by Jeanne Kalogridis pages 479 2.99 I've now exceeded my budget, but can't resist a sale.
  23. I love how Sebastio, Mathilde and Catherine stick together out of self-preservation.
  24. Aztec, by Gary Jennings pages 772 2.99 "A dazzling and hypnotic historical novel." --The New York Times "Anyone who still lusts for adventure or that book you can't put down, will glory in Aztec." --Los Angeles Times I read this in paperback a few years ago and was blown away by how immersive into that strange culture it is. I've been waiting for the ebook to go on sale so I can re-read it. Yay. The Mirror & the Light: A Novel, by Hilary Mantel pages 913 3.99 On Duty With The Queen, by (former Royal spokesman) Dickie Arbiter pages 274 1.99 Catherine Parr: Henry VIII's Last Love, by Susan James pages 354 2.99 Schindler’s Listed: The Search for My Father's Lost Gold pages 251 1.99 Domina: The Women Who Made Imperial Rome pages 591 2.99 Nine Lives: My time as the MI6's top spy inside al-Qaeda Pages 504 Cost .99 Kohinoor: The Story of the World’s Most Infamous Diamond pages 200 $0.62 "This riveting tale of the Kohinoor, the world’s most coveted gem, unearths fascinating new information as it moves from the Mughal court to Persia to Afghanistan; from Maharaja Ranjit Singh's durbar in Punjab to the Queen of England's Crown. A thrilling tale, full of violence, drama and intrigue."
  25. I can't find anything about Pope Clement VII having asshole problems other than Henry VIII who wanted him to grant a divorce.
