Taken from the Dean Winchester thread @ilovedean27 @ILoveReading @SueB @RulerofallIsurvey I would say my feelings on season twelve so far are quite mixed. I was rather enjoying it and had mostly praise up until Stuck In the Middle (With You) I recently rewatched and still love the mini arc of the opening three episodes. I thought all of the characters had their moment to shine (Dean got to take out Toni, Cas got to be intimidating and of great help, Sam got to display inner strength and endurance by withstanding torture). The beginnings of the relationship with Mary and the brothers were wonderfully played. I feel J2 and Samantha Smith all sold the awkwardness and hesistancy on how to deal with this new situation well. Even when the arc concluded I could see where they were all coming from. I could feel sympathy for Sam and Dean being separated again from the mum they had lived all their lives without. However, I could also understand Mary needing some time to adjust. All in all it was probably my favourite set of mytharc heavy episodes in seasons. American Nightmare was another one that I enjoyed. It was an enjoyable old fashioned monster of the week episode and I loved its link to Sam's season two storyline. I was was not a fan of The One You've Been Waiting For though. I should probably rewatch to try and find redeeming points as I haven't watched since it aired. My negative view is shaped by the fact I recall finding it disappointing that an episode advertised as a sequel to Everybody Hates Hitler lacked a focus on the guest characters that helped make it such a delightful episode. The golem didn't appear and Aaron appeared for a minute at most. In addition to this, I was rather repulsed by the clown Hitler characterisation. Asa Fox however was an episode that I enjoyed. Like American Nightmare I feel it was a great old fashioned episode that helped highlight the history of the show. Plus I love it when we see the Winchester's highlighting with the rest of the hunting community. I lost some enthuasiam when Rock Never Dies and LOTUS aired. It was to be expected though as the Lucifer storyline is currently my least favourite episode of the show. I then enjoyed the the first four episodes after the mid season finale. First Blood featured some kick ass Winchester's and I adored the reunion scene with the brothers and Cas and Mary. My only complaint was the ridiculous depowering of Cas (as if he couldn't hunt a vampire nest) in order to serve his the world needs the Winchester speech at the end. LIly Saunders Has No Regrets featured a compelling backstory for the guest character, and it served to show us just how much Cas has changed due to his relationship with the brothers. Remembering Dean was a brilliant Dean centric episode and I feel it did a wonderful job of portraying Sam and Deans perspective. Stuck in the Middle (With You) was a great ensemble piece that gave everyone involved something to do. For me my excitement began to wane upon the airing of Family Feud. I think though this is largely due to my viewing preference. My favourite characters are Castiel and Sam, something I don't exactly attempt to hide haha. Therefore, I have two main reasons for feeling disconnected. 1) The show has completely sidelined Castiel since this episode. In the six episodes since, he has starred in one episode for a total of 5 minutes at most. His storyline in that one episode was irrelevant to the main storyline. 2) I have found Sam and his motivation hard to understand since he went from distrusting the Man of Letters to "sign me up" in the space of an episode. I've seen lots of posts lately about how he is getting all the kills. However, none of that matters to me if it comes at the cost of the character being relatable IMO. So those are the main reasons I've been more negative about the season lately.

I would agree with this! IMO (and of course it is just that) Jensen Ackles is the most proficient actor on the show. Then it would be Jared and finally Misha and Mark. I feel that due to Jensen's superior acting skills he often overshadows Jared and people don't realise he is actually as good as he is as a result. It can often be a case of Jensen receiving all the praise without people acknowledging the likes of Jared are also quite good at their job.

If I remember correctly, It was stated by Dean after he knocked Lady Toni out in Momma Mia. He was referencing the fact that he knew, from reading a book, it took making her unconscious to end the Chinese mind control she was using on Mary.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from :) . The only thing I will say is that I can relate to the frustration Jared must have felt. Especially when the food order was for young kids who were likely beginning to misbehave and show signs of impatience the longer the wait went on. In regards to that particular employer all I will say is we don't know how they interacted with Jared (or do we? If it was online could someone maybe provide a link so I can see for myself). When he was in contact with them was the employee rude? Where they dismissive and obnoxious? I personally have had mixed experience with company's support workers. Some have been the nicest and most helpful people I've ever talked to. Others have been condescending and rude and I certainly would have said they deserved some sort of disciplinary action if asked. I guess I'm just saying I'm wary of judging Jared too harshly for his outburst when we don't know the full story.

I actually don't think Jared did anything wrong? I mean yes he's a celebrity, but that doesn't mean he is not entitled to voice complaints about customer service like everyone else. And I know I've gotten pretty irritated when I've ordered food only for it to never be delivered. I love his top! #vainobservation

It could be but who would be the leads? Before they killed off Mick I could have seen it being him, but now I'm not sure. IMO if they were going to do a spin off they need to kill off the old leadership including Doctor Hass and the old man. The show would then be centred on a more humane leadership trying to pick up the pieces and rise from the ashes. The problem is without Mick we don't really have anyone sympathetic to play this role. Ketch and Lady NeedsToDie should be dead by the end of the season. They're apart of the problem IMO

I finally gave in and rejoined tumblr so I could compile the gifs I needed for my Mishappreciation post! The things I'll do for Misha / Cas haha

This episode also marks Mr. Misha Collins' 100th credited episode with the show! He has starred in 99 episodes as the character of Castiel and directed one episode namely Mother's Little Helper. He is the first actor outside of the two leads to reach such an important mile stone! In celebration of this important achievement I have complied a number of gifs showing some of his best moments on the show so far! These have been hidden in a spoiler tag for those with slow internet speeds, or to make it easy for those not overly interested in the celebration to just skip it. And one out of the spoiler tag just for @catrox14 Again CONGRATULATIONS TO MR. MISHA COLLINS ON YOUR 100TH EPISODE WITH THE SHOW! <3333 ETA: I tried to make the appreciation stuff in a seperate post to the opener, but the forum software kept merging them together, sorry.

I was thinking about the theme of mothers this season seems to have going on. What if Mary becomes pregnant with Ketch's baby? It would be a way of making her torn between the BMoL and the brothers especially if Ketch was promising to stand by her and help her raise the new baby as the family she never got with Sam and Dean.

I'm still convinced those 'spoilers' are from someone trolling the fandom in a "how gullible can they be" way. The description from Misha as chilling and disturbing was used in regards to the season nine finale as was the instruction to watch until the last thirty seconds (demon dean wake up). Source: http://www.ibtimes.com.au/supernatural-stars-jensen-ackles-jared-padalecki-misha-collins-say-fans-will-freak-out-over-season-9 Number 5 has also been debunked as It has been stated the two episodes will be on the same night, but two separate one hours ep. Spoilers 1 and 2 are the only possibly legit seeming ones imo ETA: I have found references to Mark Shepherd (possibly) joking at VegasCon and SeaCon that Crowley will die in episode 21. I have not been able to find anything about Castiel being in peril. I'm not ruling it out, as I personally have been speculating his exit for a while now, I just can't seem to find an official source suggesting it.

I'm sad to see Home eliminated so soon! Ah that makes sense! Thanks for clarifying! And sorry if I came off as rude. I just figured I should ask rather than assume the worst :)

Ah that makes sense (if that is what Macbeth meant). Thanks @DittyDotDot

Are you saying that the only men who are men are those who are promiscious and engage in one night stands? Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just curious what you meant by that remark :)

Is that a recycled spoiler or someone trolling us? That was the exact spoiler they used to describe Demon!Deans arrival in 9x23

Strange, TVBTNs reported it as 1.58 http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/thursday-final-ratings-april-13-2017/ I just used them as their finals were out first yesterday! They must have forgot to update the viewer count.

Finals are in! The show kept the same demo (0.5) and the same viewercount (1.58 million)

I was referring to his overly complacent behaviour in this episode i.e abandoning Sam in the middle of a hunt for a hook up, neglecting to learn much for the research side of things an racing upstairs and jumping into danger without truly knowing what they're dealing with. I do agree though that the colts presence doesn't account for the issues fans may have with Deans portrayal in episodes prior to this one :)

I am not saying it is impossible for the show to retcon the prince(ss) of hell into fallen angels, but I don't think that is needed to explain why they are more powerful than run of the mill angel. The most powerful demon of all (Lilith) was explicitly described as a human prior to her conversion and she was said to be more powerful than everything but the archangels. Another white eyed demon Alastair was also shown to rather effortlessly defeat Castiel when they battled against one another. I'd say their inherent strength is down to power granted to them by Lucifer in the same way Lilith's power and the power of Knights such as Abbadon derived from Lucifer.

I watched the episode and wrote up some thoughts! I thought it was an enjoyable enough episode, but it didn't overly inspire me so this post is quite short. The Good • The episode picks up where the last one left off and shows us that Ketch and the BMoL have begun plotting against the boys. I love when there is continuity between the mythology and the MOTW episodes. • Darren was an interesting character! I thought the actor played him rather well. Shame he died so soon though :( • Goat dude! I love that nickname! We need to find a Lady Goat for him to hook up with, or as some users on here have already said revive Billy so they can be Billie Goat! • The Man of Letters in the Bunker. I dislike their presence emotionally, but as a storyline point it makes sense that they have decided that they want to get to know the boys further before directly confronting them. In my opinion, this is the first time they are behaving like sensible villains rather than making the same mistakes as the other baddies the brothers have confronted. The Undecided • I'm not sure how to feel about Dean's plot line in this episode. I can understand the complaints of those who feel that he was made to look incompetent. However, I wonder if this was done with a purpose. IMO he was shown to become a little too complacent due to the presence of the colt. For instance at the diner he dismisses research into killing the monster because "the colt can kill anything" and he later races upstairs secure because he has it! I wonder if the purpose of this episode was to highlight for the viewer that the colt does not make day to day hunting suddenly without peril. • I shouldn't read social media as the carving has already been ruined for me by the Cas haters turning the fact his name wasn't included in the carving as a weapon against Cas fans *sigh* The Bad • Dean ditching Sam in the middle of a hunt to hook up with the waitress. If he wants to hook up with her that's fine, but at least wait until the case is over ugh. I am going to put this down to the complacency I mentioned earlier i.e since they already have the colt there was no need for him to worry about researching with Sam. • The fact that Mr. Ketch appeared to have a moment of realisation when he spotted the photo of Dean and Mary. Seeing as the Man of Letters have a file on the Winchesters surely they knew that Mary was dead for most of the brothers lives. Especially since it was her death that led to their family becoming hunters in the first place. It was a stupid plot point in my opinion. The Ugly • "Hunting People, Killing them" that was an awful twist on the shows classic tag line.
