  1. It was a possible series finale, but it is getting a third season. (I don't think that counts as a spoiler since there is no information about plot developments, locations, or characters). I'm guessing your last sentence is either we pick up at the start of season 3 or where we end season 3 depending on what kind of time jump there is between seasons.
  2. I was satisified with this as an episode, but it did not feel like a season finale. I liked that the dominant emotions in the prison scenes were fear and boredom. Did anyone else think that Franklin's first phone call was going to be to Teddy, or was that just me?
  3. I don't see Miller on cable news. I see Miller on a network morning show, or daytime/afternoon television. There's just somethig about Miller that strikes me as more network than cable. Remeber the episode with the afternoon talk show Dick and Dottie? I could totally see Miller on something like that. I'd love for Miller to pop in for a few episodes.
  4. Not necessarily. Isn't he also composing a song for this movie or was that just a rumor. Also, just because Lin-Manuel Miranda doesn't get the nomination for this doesn't mean he'll never get the PEGOT. In The Heights is going to be made into a movie, which means at least an orginal song played over the end credits, and who knows what else he was in development.
  5. @voiceover But there's a difference between a remake and a sequel, which I think you hint at towards the end of the your post. This movie is without a doubt a sequel. A remake is retelling the same story with the same characters. A squel takes place after the original and features the characters in a new/different story.
  6. Shortly after I heard about Aretha's death I had the same thought. If Murphy were real, she would be devestated. Don Lemon devoted his entire show to Aretha Franklin that night. It was a fantastic tribute to a legend
  7. I agree. I watch the films and that's it. If you want to have random references and throwaways/Easter Eggs for people who watch and read everything, that's great but don't make them crucial plot points that confuse people who only go to the movies. Yes. I really want a Han and Lando movie that's the two of them working together for some kind of con/caper/heist. Give me Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or The Sting. Include a montage of Lando buying capes and I will be very happy. I always figured Han knew that Lando ran Cloud City more by reputation and word of mouth. The two of them clearly had a falling out and were not close when they met again in the Original Trilogy. When it comes to Han and women before Leia, I always got the impression that it was more "legend in his own mind" and it was all exageration/bragging. This works for me. Maybe this could be the plot of another Han Solo movie, if they do another one that is. I would love for this to be a real thing Every so often Han could appear. This would a great way for Disney to get people to buy DVD/digital copies. Include an episode of LandoTime on particular DVDs/digital copies of Disney/Marvel/LucasFilm movies.
  8. I was already looking forward to it but it looks like the penguins have a cameo. As a kid, I loved the cameo. Maybe they will rerelase the original back on theatres. They've done that for some of the animated movies before the live-action remake.
  9. I didn't see a thread for this movie and Fathom Events is showing it on September 23 and 26th. Since the movie is classic (even though it is also problematic and dated) I thought there should be a place here for people to discuss it. The movie is also my favorite, but I admit it's dated and problematic in some respects. Has anyone else here seen it? Did you have any kind of response to it? Were there parts you liked, parts you didn't like?
  10. I think Teddy would much rather have her alive and working for him or at least working with them. He would avoid killing her unless he had absolutely had to. I could see that happening. I'm not sure how he would pull that off, but I think Teddy could do that.
  11. I love this idea. To build on it, each sibling thinks they are the dissapointment based on the way she talks about the others. I would love a scene of all the siblings in a room without thier mother and Leonard discovering they all have probem, just different problems. Maybe someone in the field wants to interview them for something about family or sibling dynamics.
  12. The family dinners are what sold me on the series and I love that is part of every episode. My theory is that Henry, Frank, Erin, and Jamie lost thier accent at some point. For Erin and Jamie I'm guessing it was college or law school. Danny decided he wanted to keep the accent. Another theory that I've heard is that the only way for Donnie Wahlberg to cover up his Boston accent is to replace with it a New York one. I'd love another Baker-centric episode. I'd also love more scenes of Baker, Garret and Gormley interacting without Frank in the room. Maybe a scene of the three of them waiting for him.
  13. So if we are lucky enough to get a season 3, do you think that's what it's going to be? The absolute bloodshed and devestation that accompanied the crack epidemic? I thought Teddy would be furious with his brother so I was surprised how understanding and helpful he was.
  14. My understanding is that they will be covering #MeToo and I think this story would fall under that larger umbrella. They will be dealing with the larger/overall issue, but not this specific case.
  15. If we get another season my guess is that it will be about Franklin realizing that if he wants to expand and take it national he will need a different group to make that happen.
  16. When things blow up in Franklin's face, which they will eventually, even if takes multiple seasons, what is going to happen to his mother's house? I know it's in her name, but he paid off the mortgage. Does that have any possible long term consequences?
  17. The first two movies are about power and wealthy and those can be sexy. Looking at the wedding and the power Vito has makes it all look cool. There's a sedective quality to it. Also, the first two movies are among the best American Cinema has created. They are works of art. The early stuff about rise of the Corleone family with Sonny starting to become more involved sounds like The Family Corleone by Ed Falco. It was a fantastic novel, which also has some great character moments for Tom, Fredo, and Michael.
  18. That doesn't sound right. The songs are going to be incredibly expensive to license whether it's on DVD or streaming. The only way this makes sense is that because it's streaming, there isn't the additional expense of manufacturing and distributing a physical DVD set.
  19. I wouldn't call Christy a deadbeat because she is no longer financially responsible for them. Violet is over 18 and living with her old boyfriend Luke. Baxter and Candace aren't mean or heartless enough to make Christy contribute child support payments she can barely afford. I do agree it would be nice to hear Roscoe mentioned, even if it's just "I can't make it it to ______because that's the night of Roscoe's ______." We don't actually have to see Christy go to Roscoe's event, but it would be nice of the writers to remember that the character exists. The occasional voicemail or text message from Roscoe wouldn't take up too much time as in Christiy is checking her phone and it's a message from Roscoe.
  20. I love his taste and in music and when he sings.
  21. I think "The Dream Sequence Rings Twice" is one of the greatest hours of television. Normally the flashback/fantasy episode where the characters end up in another era are stupid. This one is brilliant. They did everything to capture the look and feel of the era and it works perfectly. I love that David's dream sequence goes off the rails at the end, because it feels so right/perfect for the character.
  22. You mean Shout! Factory. They did WKRP in Cincinnati, Freaks and Geeks, and TimeLife did Wonder Years and China Beach. As much as I would love a DVD set, I'll settle for reruns on Antenna TV.
  23. Speculation: I would love for a an episode that's an April Fool's Day prank war between Avery and Murphy. She has years of experience "I taught him everything he knows, but not everything I know." He has the ability to do stuff with technology she can't even imagine. It could be a fantastic episode.

Overall, I liked this episode. It's interesting you bring up iTunes because I wished the episode had just spent a minute or two on why iTunes mattered and was such a game changer for the industry, especially for music on the internet. I'm with you on the price of a CD. There were some CDs that I paid $10 for but I also remember paying closer to $15-20 for most others, and paying over $20 for two disc sets. One summer I saved up most of money so I could buy the Beatles Red and Blue albums. I was thrilled when my mother took me to Strawberries and they were on sale with a discount price. I agree with you that most artists make their money off touring, but big tours where the singer earns tons of money don't usually happen without the support of a major label. Something that I wish the episode had done a better job of explaining is that yes, someone can get discovered and become famous through MySpace or YouTube but earning serious money still requires the backing/support of a label or record company. It was funny that the record industry forgot singles could be a thing/a viable strategy. Prior to the 1970s, it was a singles market, not an album market. Also, it seems the decade of the 2000s starts and ends with teen pop dominating. You start the decade with boy bands and end the decade with Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber.
