I wonder if Katie is in a new off-camera role, and was filling in the day she was standing in the back row. I always liked Chad. He seemed to be good-natured and had good chemistry with everyone. I think he & Mike were friends, maybe even in-laws, so I wonder if that created tension since Mike evidently did not leave TMZ on good terms. Maybe Chad is working with Mike now.

Three pleasant, knowledgable contestants, although Nan's noisy reactions may get old quickly. Did Kathleen mash the buzzer in Friday's game, because I don't remember it bothering me if she did. I guess she realized Nan & Marcus were quick and thought mashing the buzzer = being quick on the buzzer. She reminds me a lot of one of my sister's friends, so I liked her. Nan reminds me of an actress who I think I have seen primarily in commercials. Or maybe a sitcom mom. I thought it was sweet that Marcus gave Nan a congratulations hug. TS I got were Nietzsche, kiwi (missed DD; Nan didn't hear me shouting it either), & Lady Vols I had no clue for FJ, but it was an instaget for Dr. Toothbrush.

Pilaf is cooked (baked I think) in stock, but it is not constantly being stirred in like in a risotto. It probably would have been accepted, and Alex would have said that the writers were going for risotto but will accept pilaf. Or not. Jeopardy judging is nothing if not inconsistent.

I broke my ankle the same way that alliterative Kathleen broke hers' -falling down the stairs. No alcohol was involved; I am just that clumsy. We sold that house and have lived in 1 stories houses ever since. TS I got were risotto, French forces, The Crown, Book of Mormon, McMurtry, children With all the Tom Lehrer talk the past few days, I found it amusing that there was a periodic table category today.

Terrible game. Too many TS & too much jumping around which, as has been noted, probably caused a few incorrect answers. At least I liked all 3 contestants. TS I got were Fenway, alias, police (Alex said cop; not sure if police would have been accepted since it seemed to be part of a quote), Copland, spring. I knew the 6 letter non-sum synonym of summit started with a z, but could not come up with 'zenith' to save my life. FJ was an instaget, and I also remember a recent somewhat related FJ clue also. I think it would have helped in Sweet '16 also. They did not seem to realize that '16 referred to a year, unless they just weren't up on French history.

Love the disco chicken! This needs to be a Jeopardy clue so that Alex can pronounce it en français

He said that after being left with $1 after FJ Tuesday he figured he would be taking his winnings and going home, so he was surprised to have won. I'm not saying he wasn't ready to go home, but that wasn't the point of his story.

Just spent a couple of days catching up from 1.5 weeks of traveling, and life interfering with my Jeopardy viewing. I was spoiled about Austin Smug Chewbacca Dicktree Rivers Rogers' loss by TMZ of all things. I loved his knowledge & gutsy wagers, but his thirst for attention was getting old. Dare I hope he tone it down for the ToC? The $1 game was nuts! Guessed Iran immediately, but then wondered if it could be a -stan country. I would have been ok with any of them winning, but was rooting for Carlos since we are both from NOLA. The roller derby running of the bulls is fun, but my favorite is the GEICO running of the bull..dogs commercial. I would be all over that. I ran the apple category Wednesday, and TS I got were Bolivar (missed DD), electoral college, spillway, hey you guys. I was on the same wavelength as Manny for FJ & guessed test tube baby. So did I. If only there had been an easy reader clue...

Thanks for the link, trow 125. I really liked Fran but was rooting for Carlos since we are both from NOLA. That was a crazy finish! Glad to have my hunch that Fran is transgendered confirmed. Not that it makes a difference, but Dr. Toothbrush was on the fence, so now we know. She seems like a lot of fun.

I like quirky also, but he crosses the quirky-to-annoying line a little too often for my tastes.

I got quite a few TS compared to what I have been getting lately: Sally Field (wasn't she a TS last season also?), plantations, room temperature, Obama, Nixon, reactive. For FJ I got stuck on Siberia before realizing - duh! - not a country. Diana's dog story was really cute.

Yes, episodes are filmed well in advance, and the contestant who sadly passed away before her episodes aired was Cindy Stowell. Depending on if Austin is having a Ken Jennings-like run, he could still be champion in real time and we could be watching his games into 2018.

See? Just when I start to like (ok, not mind) him, I read this shit. It's not attractive in anyone, least of all a 40-year old man. So that's why he looks so disheveled...lol No, I'm sure it's a hipster thing, although he looks better now based on his appearance on GMA.

I didn't watch the whole thing, just FF to see his new hairdo. Much better IMO. I wonder if he is still champ in real time and J! is on a break or filming a tournament, or if he has lost and is back in NYC.

Austin's pantomimes and all the finger flitting, sighs, big gestures, etc are annoying, and he can cut those out at any time. Maybe bartender is code for aspiring actor? But I think he is an excellent player and his range of knowledge and gutsy wagers are impressive. His story about being buried in snow during a mini-avalanche (of course he knew the correct word for it), and having his partner laugh at him before digging him out was funny. I also hope said partner took pics and a video. And he naturally forgot which peak he was climbing. Of course he did.

We usually erase the recording as soon as we see who won (unless I want to see someone's complete outfit at the end), so missed Todd refusing Austin's outstretched hand. That's a really jerky move. The only TS I got were June bug & bogey (missed DD). FJ was an instaget. The only category I ran was Designers by Initial.

You're right - it was integration not tangent. I was incredulous that Dr. Toothbrush did not get pi, so that is why it was on my mind as a TS.

Dr. Toothbrush said John Larroquette also, but I was stuck on a Will Ferrell character. Then someone upthread posted that their sister said he looked like the Unabomber, and I realized I had been picturing Will Ferrell as the Unabomber on SNL

The game started for us at the contestant interviews due to a Las Vegas news conference, so I missed Austin mispronouncing sherbet & getting huffy. Darn. I ran the LA & dental categories, and TS I got were derivative, pi, and tangent. Blind guessed FJ, because American Plays = Our Town or Death of a Salesman. Austin shrugged off his winnings of $278,300. What a tool.

Catching up after a long weekend away. I like Austin's knowledge and wagers, but his histrionics are too OTT. As someone mentioned upthread, a certain caliber of contestant is expected on Jeopardy, in both knowledge & demeanor. And he doesn't like the Eagles so he is dead to me anyway. Only the J! round was shown in my city today due to a new conference regarding Las Vegas. This! I find him to be dreadfully immature, and I am barely 5 years older than he is. And I can be silly & immature myself. 93 - wow! He looks great! Oh Lord! Can you imagine how annoying their offspring would be? ROFL!! Your sister nailed it!
