  1. I hate to be unkind, because unless Heather lost a bet she is wearing a wig because of hair loss. But, that was a bad wig. Poor Shannon took a while to get comfortable. Brandon reminds me of Eddie Munster, but good for him winning big for 2 days. TS I got were subzero, cloud, Trinity College, reggae, & Buddah's mother (said as a joke; I also figured they were looking for a name). I had no idea for FJ but Dr. Toothbrush knew it right away. LMAO! I was disturbed by the guinea pig eating too. He blinks very slowly so it is noticeable when his eyes are closed. The phrase "in the blink of an eye" means something different when applied to Brandon than it does with most people.
  2. I thought they said adjunct, but perhaps I mis-heard.
  3. It was a pretty good game today. I liked all 3 stories & although Brandon bugged the most, he is not too terribly painful to watch. Loved the alliterative category! TS I got were point spread & Odd Fellows. FJ was an instaget. Reese Witherspoon, as mentioned upthread was born 4 years after the movie came out, and Marisa Tomei was born a full 8 years after the movie was released! Adding to travel bucket list.. Brandon drove me crazy with the signaling device as well. That Rob Lowe clue was so easy, but I cannot complain about a picture of Rob Lowe, even though it was not a very good one. I guess Elisabeth either teaches on-line or at night when her hubby is home. I wondered the same thing. I agree that she was very gracious. Dr. Toothbrush was born at the same hospital, but 9 years before Peyton & Reese.
  4. Very sad to see Lisa go. The only TS I got were Catskills & Mao. Surprised that Moon did not get a BMS. Agree. I'm sure he thinks he's funny; I just hope that he learns what is & isn't appropriate before his next game. But watching Alex get out of having to say sucking was pretty funny. Me too, but I understand that is how the young people watch TV these days *shakes cane*
  5. I will have to inform hubby that he was wrong..lol
  6. Congrats to Lisa! I liked Natasha until she went DD hunting in DJ. Daniel reminded me of Colin Firth, and I liked his story. The only TS I got were windmills & Monaco. I guessed JFK for FJ; Dr. Toothbrush said "that spy played by Tom Hanks". I haven't seen Bridge of Spies so I would never have gotten it right.
  7. I care...for now. I have found that my tolerance for any given RH franchise is about 2 seasons. After that it seems they up the drama to become relevant &/or avoid cancellation, new cast members are added whose only purpose is to stir the pot, and everyone starts to believe their own hype. At that point they cease being mindless, trashy fun.
  8. I was wondering the same thing about Monica's birth family, and I would guess with several other siblings the reasons vary. I hope that it was just a matter of some of the siblings wanting to reunite with Monica, but preferring to do so off-camera and remaining anonymous. But with the tumultuous upbringing they had, who knows. Both Monica & her sister (whose name I have forgotten - Mary Frances? ) seem like lovely women and I hope they have remained in each other's lives. I felt so bad for the older sister because of the guilt she carried for so many years; at least Monica grew up in a living home, which has hopefully eased that guilt.
  9. Interesting article, thanks for linking.
  10. Peter didn't bother me too much, except for the shouting, but with 3 kids and their friends, I am used to loud voices. Happy for Lisa - she reminds me of my BFF's mom. TS I got were mitt, summer + fall, Tom Jones. I guessed FJ correctly because of the team name, but it was 100% guess since I had no idea that Gandhi ever lived in S. Africa. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame $200 clue about 5 of Janet Jackson's siblings having been inducted: Me: Rebbie & LaToya are in the hall of fame??? Dr. Toothbrush: Pretty sure it's the Jackson 5 I'm usually only that brain dead on Friday nights, but my office is closed tomorrow for TS Cindy, so I guess technically it is my Friday night. At first I thought she was showing surprise that Willie Nelson is not in the R'n'R Hall of Fame like I did. Peter Frampton, too.
  11. I was being facetious with the Mick Jagger comment, but point taken. I agree that we are not seeing an accurate representation of the pawn business.
  12. Much better game, but they all bugged. I seriously thought I was having deja vu in the intros after the nod from Chris and the flower in Melissa's hair. TS I got were Robert Browning, Young Turks (missed DD; how did Chris forget the category that he just chose???), Zimmerman. Had no clue for FJ. As much as I sometimes hate when contestants can answer with a last name only, having to have both first and last, and in some cases a middle name, in the Authors' Initials category was difficult for me, and I missed a couple of clues that I would have gotten correct if I only had to provide a last name. I did the same, and yes I think it would have been accepted. Agree with both. I guessed Sophia Loren, but Dr. Toothbrush got it right.
  13. Awesome! I vote for Michael McKean as the host & Harry Shearer as the announcer. Jane Lynch and John Michael Higgins can be the clue crew.
  14. It's gotta be for the show and to bust dad/grandpa's chops.
  15. Even Chumlee acts more interested and knowledgeable than Corey (when the producers let him). All Corey does is act like he doesn't know who Mick Jagger is while making fun of his dad for his "geeky" interests & offering way too little money for the items brought in.
  16. I'm reading this at work & had to close my office door because I am laughing so hard at your comments. If Christopher Guest wants to make a mockumentary about game shows, this game would be great research. TS I got were Mayweather, flint, Lily Allen, English, Yardbird, fog, storm surge, and the DD that was not in the form of a question (guess Peter didn't hear me shouting "what is" from my living room). FJ was an instaget, because of the cities, although none are technically in the Mississippi Delta. Monroe (LA) & Jackson (MS) are relatively close. I am from LA but thought Delta was founded in GA. Dr. Toothbrush knew, but he is an aviation geek. And 2 of the 3 were true DD where he lost it all! Dr. Toothbrush & I were dumbfounded at those guesses. Aunt Clara is a perfect description! And so many of her answers were as successful as Aunt Clara's spells were! I thought I detected a hankie in her shirt cuff (could have been the cuff itself, but it was more pronounced on one side), so to me she was channeling nuns and my great grandmother & her sisters. I snickered at the flower, but after Jeremy's exaggerated head nod during his intro, I knew this would be a doozy and had to pause the recording to pour a 2nd glass of wine. And they had to wear a dunce cap for the rest of the game.
  17. I like Debb, but it was obvious from some of her answers that she did not comprehend the clues in full in her haste to ring in first. Has Solo dying in Return of the Jedi? Really? But I was impressed that she got the Jessica Biel DD correct. New champ is OK, except he holds the signaling device like the Statue of Liberty holds her torch. I liked how happy he was to win. TS I got were Dan Quayle, Gerry (I also have always pronounced with a hard g sound), Mattel & Hasbro, and Fantastic Four. I was definitely taken aback at both. And glad that 1971 was before my time. We've come a long way, baby.
  18. Great game! Go Debb! I will miss Phil though. Poor alliterative Jacob was never able to hit his groove. The only TS I got was muckraker, and I would have never guessed FJ. Dr. Toothbrush said permanent, and I think it would have been accepted.
  19. I thought the same thing, but shepherds did not fit the category, so went with Mary & Joseph. However, I did not remember angels visiting M+J together - Gabriel appeared to Mary to tell her she would have a son, and then an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream. If I'm not mistaken (& I've had a glass of wine & slept since watching ;-) ), the verse in the clue was from John, and the Christmas story most often told is Luke's version, so maybe it differs. Or, I may not know what I'm talking about. In any case, I could not think of Mary & Joseph's names, and blurted out "Jesus' parents". Not awesome for someone who went to Catholic school from K-12. And yes, someone received credit for M+J. ETA: What DrSpaceman73 said ;-)
  20. Becca's wage was nuts. As others have said, she works in a freaking library! How could she not wager a mint on a Books & Authors category. I guess she was counting on Phil to get it wrong. I have to say, girl sure has a poker face. New champion sure was shocked that he won! I like him, but he needs to learn to start at the top of the categories. I knew Tucker was going to be gone as soon as his opponents were good enough that his safe FJ wagers would not cover his incorrect answers. He's very likable, but after his first win I was not impressed with his playing. TS I got were Adam & Eve (missed DD) & blazes. I just knew the Stan category was going to be about my nemesis, geography. I easily got Pakistan, and guessed Uzbekistan since it was the only one I could think of that starts with U. Dr. Toothbrush really wanted Trebekistan to be an answer! Don't feel bad - I couldn't think of Mary & Joseph! I said Jesus' parents. d'oh!
  21. No J! for me because of Jeff Sessions' testimony. Glad Tucker won, and boo hiss that I missed a Beatles category! I thought about you being able to watch J! again when I heard that the NBA finals were over. And then I missed it due to Jeff Sessions' testimony. My dad is a pharmacist too. I'll have to ask him about the PillPick, but I'll leave out the part where the J! clue writers think it does your job for you!
  22. I misunderstood FJ also, thought they wanted island countries, but wasn't even in the ballpark. I guessed Malta & Cyprus. Geography is clearly not in my wheelhouse. TS I got were lake, MA, & allegro. Too many guesses! I'm also glad that Tucker did not lose for being too correct, and was wondering if he was going to wear his grandpa's letter sweater again.
  23. Dr. Toothbrush & I heard the same, and when it wasn't corrected, we figured that we had been wrong for the past 30+ years. Silly us, trusting the Jeopardy judges to catch a wrong response!
  24. I like the new champ, and love the background of the letter sweater he wore. But I am surprised that he did not get Yemen in the My Elements category since ME Geography is one of his dream categories. I also hated Alex's comment to Johanna about her facial expression. She was probably nervous, or maybe just has a slight RBF. Notice he didn't say anything to Bala about his complete lack of personality. Although I did think I saw a little spark from him early in the game, but he was 3/4 of the way to a coma by DJ. Only TS I got was Medea. Once I saw the FJ subject I didn't even try, but it was an instaget for Dr. Toothbrush. Even if I had thought about it, I don't think I would have gotten it.
  25. Bala makes Eeyore look like the life of the party (cue Alex's bad Eeyore imitation). He annoys me, so I predict a long run as champion. I liked Scott & Sara. Boo hiss to Sara's FJ wager. TS I got were: stick, Madagascar (guess), Nat'l Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Amy Grant, & Hyde Park. I got FJ because I recently watched a show that featured a segment about Wallenberg - I think it was "Mysteries at the Museum". Alex, is that you??? ;-p She looks different without the trademark curls that she sported during her mainstream fame in the early-mid 90s. I said a prayer that 15-year old MiniToothbrush does not do such stupid things when he goes to college. Bala mentioned an audience, so I do not know if this was a part of some show, or if his "audience" was made up of fellow 18-year old numbskulls. Being that he is charisma-free, I can't imagine him as a performer. He seems so uncomfortable as a J! contestant. Hope you were OK! Possibly. I am Catholic & only recently learned about him from a TV show.
