  1. IIRC there was speculation that they were more than friends because Stephanie for sure (can't remember about Kristen) kept mentioning in her THs that they were just!friends! There was "doth she protest too much?" musings. Not that it matters, a great friend is a great friend regardless of gender, sexuality, etc.
  2. I like Rob so far, but I think my hands would cramp holding the signaling device the way he does. He has a good range of knowledge, and his pocket square is very dapper. I see the Christopher Meloni resemblance. I guessed Vincente Minnelli for FJ. My train of thought was that James Stewart was in "The Shop Around The Corner" directed by him. Once I heard the answer I realized that Minnelli directed "In The Good Old Summertime", which was a remake of "TSATC", and did not star Jimmy Stewart. I didn't make the obvious Stewart/Capra "It's A Wonderful Life" connection because I loathe that film. The Color The Flag category was fun. Sheldon Cooper would have approved.
  3. J! was not shown in my city due to coverage of a police officer being shot (he should be OK), so I missed Kirstin losing. Did someone say the new champ looks like Christopher Meloni????? FJ would have been an instaget for me (Catholic school from K-12)
  4. That is what I heard too, and kept waiting for the change in scoring. I thought Sam's story about playing Alex Trebek with his family as Jeopardy contestants was adorable. Kirstin lucks out again. Is it just me, or does it seem like she's been around for more than 4 games?
  5. What a tool. I didn't vote for Trump either, but Viraj needs to grow the f__k up. So I suppose he'll be donating his "meaningless" winnings to charity?
  6. My husband kept rewinding and pausing until I finally had enough & grabbed the remote. Husband: "Who does she think she is, Richard Blais"? lol Yes, but to be fair, Sheldon, or whoever else would have been in the top 3 if Kristen had not come back (I cannot remember who finished 4th in that season), could have beat her in the finale. I am rooting for Shirley since her original season was in my hometown. Lame reason, I know, but now that Sheldon is out I kinda don't care. And I'm still not sure that the scales are not tipped in Brooke's favor, so I feel like I am rooting for the underdog.
  7. This is absolutely train wreck, so-bad-it's-good watching. I started watching for Brock O'Hurn (Brody)'s hair, but it has gotten out of control, and with that out of control beard it is too much. The acting (for the most part) is terrible, and the characters are written so inconsistently that I am getting whiplash watching them go back & forth (Valerie & Shelby especially). I like Octavia - and hope she does not veer any further into sassy black neighbor territory - Frankie, Tina, Bonnie - although she needs to stand up for herself more - and, of course Caitlyn, played by the queen, Heather Locklear. Annie is an idiot. On so many levels, in so many ways. Dax & Victor are ridiculous. Brody should have let them kill each other. I was amused when Dax was acting evil (mostly at the actor's acting attempts), but a true villain would have kept his cool when goaded by Victor. Why is the sheriff so involved in Jolene's trailer mess? Like Artsda posted, let the property owner take care of that shit. He has a lot more going on in his town, like a pedophile roaming about hanging out with teens and providing them with beer, an unsolved murder, a drive-by shooting in which the shooters themselves ended up dead, to name a few. And instead of taking JB & Shelby into custody after they admitted to theft & transporting drugs, he tells them to come to the station to talk to him, ya hear? I mean it! And he continues to remind them every time he sees them! Not to mention, he knows it is just a matter of time before the media comes back. I don't care how close you are to the family or how inexperienced you are in these matters, you are going to reach out to the White House for further instructions and advice. Rebel? Really? I don't think that even in BFE Alabama people name their kids Rebel. Dogs, yes; children, no. Speaking of Rebel, she sneaks out of the trailer while her whole family, the sheriff, neighbors, and prison trustees are cleaning her grandmother's trailer and no one sees her? Why did Mack follow her to meet Eli rather than getting an adult? They were all there. I realize teenage boys are not the most logical thinkers, but he seemed to realize last week that Eli is bad news, and believes he is their father, so knows that Rebel plans to marry her half-nephew? Lawd! Take Rebel's phone away & make the kids help clean. Love that there were only like a dozen reporters at the press conference regarding the POTUS' health - too funny! Yuri coming out from the behind the tree literally made me laugh out loud. I now refer to him as Ninja Yuri because he is dressed in all black, and no one ever seems to notice him lurking about. The neighbor cheating drama is boring, but I am interested in learning what the story is with Frankie. I love Valerie's wardrobe. If JB harms Dr Daddy in any way, I will be pissed!! Believe it or not, I am not hate watching; not yet anyway. Waiting for Heather Locklear to do her thing - it had better be good!
  8. I am so in for a battle of the jerks. Make it happen Bravo!
  9. Sorry about that :-D I'd like to see Phillip again, too for snark purposes. John is a PITA, but he will always have a place in my heart for his Phillip snark a few weeks ago.
  10. I thought I remembered that too, but Dr Toothbrush didn't so I thought maybe I had dreamt it! Since Padma described Shirley's beef as having a whipped cream taste, I would guess it is close to non-Mexican vanilla.
  11. I didn't want to quote your entire post, but I was firmly in the "the fix is in" group & your post made me consider a different train of thought. I do think the scales are balanced in her favor regarding not having to PYKAG or winning a QF/EC if it is close between her and another cheftestant. But as you said, the show is perhaps presenting a certain narrative knowing the final outcome, and if so, they got me. Damn you Magic Elves *shakes fist*
  12. As Mystery Writer posted it was Alex. Some contestants have also used clicky pens. There was a Perry Mason moment when I served on a jury. It was surreal, and I swear I looked for the TV cameras! I love it when they do this and are wrong lol! Doesn't happen too often though.
  13. You give him too much credit because that would have never occurred to him..lol
  14. I liked both Brandon (yay for alliterative names*) & Sara, too bad things didn't work out for either of them. My husband guessed "the woman from 'A Streetcar Named Desire' " for FJ. I don't think characters in a play are considered to be literary characters, not to mention the clue said Atlanta and not NOLA, which happens to be our hometown! I swear he doesn't even try. Anyway, another male perspective. Brandon's answer was much better. dcalley - thanks for the Carol Burnett clip. So funny!! *I guess Kirstin's name can be considered alliterative since both names begin with the same sound. However, I only count names that start with both the same letter and the same sound.
  15. I had high hopes for Kate and her shiny hair. Loved that she is a history teacher & ran the Slamilton category. I guess we are stuck with Kirstin for at least another day, but I too was impressed with her vocabulary. I think her mouth move was a tic/affect, not gum. Not sure I would have had time to write the entire FJ answer once I realized that a LOTR sequel won BP & not the 1st movie in the series, so I felt for Kate. Poor Megan!
  16. I have never eaten octopus, but this sounds incredibly delicious to me. I agree about the vets vs rookies. It didn't bother me before since in the past there were fewer vets and the ones who participated were not top tier (with the possible exception of Stefan), so the majority were eliminated fairly early. This season reads like an All-Star version, except for Amanda & John.
  17. That's exactly how I got FJ too. I was rooting for Carl since I am from NOLA also. Figured Jody would be a one and done, but she seemed to be very pleasant and I loved her story about acing the post office exam while her boyfriend at the time failed. Kirstin bugged, so naturally she is the new champ.
  18. IKR? As I posted last night I enjoyed the AA museum category very much, but the clues boiled down to - Name the holiday that many AAs celebrate in late December Name Thomas Jefferson's plantation ID these 2 very well known historical figures from pictures Name the capital of Alabama I realize that the purpose was to showcase the museum, but sheesh. Teen Tournament clues for sure.
  19. I wore them in Catholic grade school & high school, and we called them oxfords as well. Like YoureSoUrban, I liked the "Hey It's That Guy" category (ran it), and Broadway plays in Latin category (missed Kinky Boots). I normally hate when the contestants do not save video clues for last since they take up so much time, but the AA museum category was fascinating. Lisa bugged me toward the end of her run, but she was a great player. We'll be seeing her again in the TOC.
  20. I'm a sucker for alliterative names so I was rooting for Marion, and her cat story sealed it. I'm over Lisa Farrah Fowler Heck. No reason that I can put my finger on, she just bugs. She's hella smart and I do love her gutsy wagers, but she can go at any time AFAIC. I would have blown FJ because I would have written La Carre instead of Le. I did like how Lisa made sure there would be no misreading of her FJ answer Friday.
  21. Those were some Kids' Week level clues. I am ashamed to say that I got stuck on the White House being burned in the War of 1812 and couldn't get past that. Once the answer was revealed - d'oh! In my defense, both 1812 & 1964 were before my time..lol I swear I thought Lisa has been introduced as a marine biologist; today was the first time I heard microbiologist. Guess I need to have my hearing checked.
  22. I never paid attention to "so" until I read how much it annoys some posters here, and now that I am aware of it, it annoys me too. "So"...thanks! lol Hubby & I also try to anticipate answers, and yes, we are way too pleased with ourselves when they come up. I also like that Lisa makes gutsy wagers!
  23. IIRC, the clue specified a 4 letter word.
