  1. Charles maybe? He is more behind the scenes now I guess, but appears semi-regulary & sometimes hosts when Harvey is out. Yesterday there was a segment on a rapper (Red Something or Something Red) who I guess appears in Verizon ads, because Chad said something about Verizon servicing 99% of the US. I thought he was making a smart ass, yet awkward, comment, but then - whadda ya know - a Verizon ad! Come on Harvey, don't you make enough $$ without your employees having to shill for cell phone carriers? Hope Chad got a nice bonus for that!
  2. Good Lord Wednesday's game was a snooze fest! It was weird that Chantelle took her glasses off during the introductions; I think they look lovely on her. Is Alex just getting forgetful, or has he had so many cool life experiences that he had to get confirmation from Bala that he appeared on "The Golden Girls"? TS I got were Tallinn, Whitney Houston, Chuck Woolery. No clue for FJ. I normally associate Richard III with legal changes in England, but clearly III is not I, and I figured they were looking for someone much earlier in history. But once Richard was in my head, no other name could come in. Not that I would have gotten it, I'm sure. During Kids' Week! Circa 1995, I won a Chili's gift card by answering a radio trivia question "who replaced Susan Stafford?" correctly. Which ironically featured a basketball category ;-) IKR! I get that she didn't exactly answer the question he asked, but damn! I like Chantelle, but I can always find something to nit pick about any given contestant. And yes, new champ is dull, and I want is name to be Harold Kumar. Makes sense.
  3. I think this is the 3rd day in a row that a scoring correction was needed. Step it up Alex & judges! TS I got were wild oats, Davis Cup, New Orleans (although I disagree with Mr. Twain), Condi Rice, Mayans, Tom Sawyer, Bright Lights Big City. I guessed Ed Wood for FJ even though I knew that Martin Landau won the Oscar for his portrayal - not that the clue would necessarily mention that so as not to give too much away - and I thought the move was after 1992 (IMBD tells me it was 1994). Like Tracy, Dr. Toothbrush said Disney, but neither of us was too sure of our guess. For good reason as it turns out lol I thinks she's just really nervous. Hopefully she'll stick around & relax. Yes! And there was an artist's (I think) name too. That was pretty WTF, but I can barely talk considering some of the stupid answers that come out of my mouth. But at least I got this one right. LOL! triplets! Me: "I know the composer!"
  4. I don't want to jinx the new champ by saying I like her, so...I don't dislike her. But yeah, she needs to pick up the pace in choosing clues. Very cool that she reads hieroglyphics, and I loved her saying she chose her major because she's a practical person. LOL TS I got: Last of the Mohicans (missed DD), Philippines (lucky guess), NE (another lucky guess), George III (missed DD; the word 'abdication' made it obvious to me, but then again I was sitting in my recliner, not in the hot seat). Not sure why Jon thought 'Washington' was an acceptable response to the 'ou' DD. Not that I got it, but Washington was named after a person, & AFAIK there is no alternate spelling of George's name. Maybe GW was on his brain after the Revolutionary War category. But again, me = recliner not hot seat. Yes to all of the above, and add many classical composers. Surprisingly, I only missed the last clue in Tuesday's classical category. My dad would be so proud! Exactly. I liked Buzz and his facial expressions, but I was glad when they caught the omission. ITA Oh definitely! Even if not true, it would have been worth it for the smackdown to Alex. I thought the same as you.
  5. I never bought Erinn Hayes as Kevin's wife, and Kevin & Leah have a lot more chemistry, but I do not see a comfortable way of writing Donna off of the show. As posted upthread her death would be too dark, a divorce would be out of nowhere, and her taking a nursing assignment out of town or a traveling nursing job is not realistic. There is not a shortage of nursing jobs for either to be necessary, and most mothers would wait until the children are older than the younger Gable kids are to work away from home for extended periods of time. My prediction is that the show will come back for season 2 as a workplace comedy with Kevin back on the force with partner Vanessa, and occasional mentions of wife & kids at home. Wacky undercover cop hijinks ensue, but unfortunately the KOQ magic will not repeat, and season 2 is its last, unless CBS has nothing to replace it with.
  6. I got Jerry Lewis, Tel, & Howard Carter (missed DD). I am surprised that Miles missed that since his knowledge seemed well-rounded. FJ was an instaget for Dr. Toothbrush, but I would have never gotten it. Agree to both. I would think that Jerry Lewis is more mainstream than Davy Jones, but perhaps Dean threw them off? Miles was very frenetic & made me nervous! No kidding!
  7. Kerry's swaying drove me crazy! Unfortunate FJ wager by Lisette, but she took too long to choose clues and was kind of low energy so I'm good with the outcome. My TS were horses, wind, paratroopers, & Okinawa. We missed up until the contestant interviews on Thursday due to a newsbreak; the only TS I got was Yankee Doodle Dandy. I was sweating Joe's DD, and was relieved that he knew Tesla. Me too to both. I was thinking something ancient along the lines of the Rosetta Stone or hieroglyphics, and could have done without Dr. Toothbrush's sarcastic, "oh yes, the famous googly eyes hieroglyph", thank you very much. The latter. But she should have said, "haha" or something to make it clear. Her whole demeanor was too low key for her joke to translate. LOL! I got it right, but I wonder if they would have accepted "the dad"? Probably not.
  8. That would be one heck of a brain freeze headache! Good luck to everyone taking the test!
  9. Quoting myself after Monday's game. Evidently my J! superpower is to jinx contestants that I like. Sorry Jon! We never did find out why you are a former lawyer. Of the 3, new champ was my least favorite, and I just knew she was going to answer Rachel for the biblical DD. TS I got were Phoebe (DD), Avril Lavigne, Hall & Oates, Hyundai. Both Dr. Toothbrush & I guessed West Point at first for FJ, but then I changed to UVA because I did not think West Point was a state school. I was waiting for R-E-S-P-E-C-T in the lyrical spelling category. This makes me sad. Same thoughts & groans regarding the French category in the Toothbrush house. I also wondered if UVA would have been acceptable.
  10. Jon's doing great! Megan was really giving him a run for his money during the first round, but then faded out. How was Fred Mertz a TS??? I guessed Wilde for FJ also, but knew it was incorrect due to the math & logic aspect, which he was not known for. The fact that he was Irish and not British didn't even occur to me.
  11. Jon had the Johnny Cash story, complete with bad impersonation. Sam's was about throwing himself a surprise birthday party in the guise of a backyard BBQ for a milestone birthday. That actually made me sad for him, but he said a guest realized it was his special day and brought a cake so I felt better. I keep wondering why Jon is a former attorney, too & want Alex to ask.
  12. I absolutely get excited when I do that!
  13. Between his $5.00 DD wager, and awesome knowledge of Back to the Future, Jon is really growing on me. He seems like a nice, good natured guy, and yes his Johnny Cash imitation stunk, but that was a pretty cool story. I liked Liz's story too. TS I got were Donna Karan, Sarah Vaughn, Celebrity Apprentice, Swan Lake (missed $5 DD), & Aaron Copland. Like Jon, I guessed Homer for FJ. I liked Sam because of his alliterative name, but now that you mention it he did look like Jackie Gleason. Thank you! That was driving me crazy. I guess he thought Jon mispronounced Apprentice, and he could make a case that Liz did not phrase her answer of damnation of the gods as a question, but damn.
  14. The new champ seems cool, I wonder if he has back problems which caused him to lean over the podium. Loved when he corrected Alex on the pronunciation of his last name, although being from NOLA my first impulse is a French pronunciation also. But sans (heh) the accent. I hate when Alex wonders why contestants switch categories when the next clue is the DD. Newsflash Alex: they don't know where the DDs are. TS I got were San Juan Capistrano (actually I said San Juan & Dr. Toothbrush provided the Capistrano) and corn & lima beans. I got FJ as soon as I saw the video. Both. And a movie.
  15. If it's the one I'm thinking of, the killer was the estranged husband of one of the daughters. She had recently moved back to CO from TX with her young children, including an infant. Very sad story.
  16. Boo hiss to Matthew's FJ wager. He was a great contestant, and very cool that he is Judy Blume's nephew! I'll miss Tanya too. She had a bad day, but earnings-wise she had a great run. TS I got were herder murder, open heart surgery, CO (how was that a TS?), James & the Giant Peach, Argentina. I was glad they corrected the perforation/preforation answer, but surprised it was not ruled incorrect as soon as McKenzie said it. I had no clue for FJ; I guessed spaniel. I did too at first, then herder came to me at the last possible instant. I probably would not have had time to ring in.
  17. That makes a lot more sense from a religious standpoint, but there is no colony named Calvary. Although I can only imagine what would have come out of my mouth if it had been me up there instead of Kelly, so I really shouldn't judge! I did not! The clue last night made me think it was named for the Virgin Mary. Wasn't Henrietta Maria one of the Louis' sisters? XIII or XIV?
  18. Another nice payday for Tanya! I was rooting for Kelly, a fellow actuary, but she seemed to give up after a couple of misses. Calgary for an American colony? Sheesh! I liked Daniel too. I also recently found out who I was named after, and it wasn't who I had spent 40 years thinking it was (both movie characters) TS I got were triple & Ted Hughes. FJ was an instaget for Dr. Toothbrush because he knew that Jonathan Caine is a member of Journey. I thought Journey was well-established by the early 80s so would not have still been struggling in 1981. Not that I would have gotten it in a million years anyway. Too bad I also smugly bet all of my imaginary J! winnings. I grew up in NOLA and learned about the Great Lakes & could name them, but we never had to id them on a map or anything. I guessed IN.
  19. Presidents Obama & now Trump, always seem(ed) to feel the need to give press conferences between 3:00-3:30 CT, which is when J! airs where I live. Usually by the time we settle down to watch our recording, whatever the press conference was about is old news. She's a little too giggly & excitable, but hopefully she will calm down if she sticks around.
  20. Huge payday for Tanya - WTG! The only TS I got was Tosca, and I said India for FJ, but knew it was probably not right. My takeaways from The Bold & The Beautiful category (haven't watched regularly in almost a decade): Alley Mills does not age. She looks the same as she did on The Wonder Years; So, they re-cast the role of Ridge; wonder if this one can act; Don Diamont is still hot. Thanks be to God for small favors! I would also love to visit Giraffe Manor in Kenya.
  21. Congrats to David, even if he did annoy me with starting at the bottom of the categories. Only TS I got was Dustin Hoffman, and I was surprised it was a TS. I blind guessed FJ. It's the 3rd time this week that I blind guessed or close to it (guessed Michaelangelo instead of The David earlier in the week). I'm sorry for the loss of your colleague. Small world.
  22. I'm not in education, but my sister is. I will have to ask her about work place romances!
  23. We only got the Jeopardy round due to the president's press conference, and the only TS I got was shoes, also due to OJ. Yes she does! She also reminds me of Queen Maxima of The Netherlands (ran that category) God yes!
  24. #1 on my wish list is no Lucy/Wyatt romance. So tired of every show having to shoehorn a romance in, especially between co-workers. In my almost 20 year career with 3 companies, I have only known of 4 LTR (which I think eventually all led to marriage), and a fling or 2, yet almost every TV show set in a workplace environment has to have a romance. But you're right, legaleagle53. Of that I have no doubt.
