S03.E13: Looking for Mr. Goodbrain, Part 2
Affogato replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in iZombie [V]
Viv's husband was CEO, Viv was either CEO or acting CEO, Chase is COO and has only been in town a fairly brief period. I assume at some point there would be some process by which he would try to become CEO, either through the board, is there one?, or some other method as befits a large company in crisis. Carey wants/wanted the job for herself, she has amassed some mercenary support, at least locally, and 'ousted' Viv. I don't think anyone is CEO at this point, Chase is Acting CEO. She knows Chase has some contact with Katty because Katty talked to her daughter, who was on the plane, and her daughter was transporting Chase's dog, which is now with him. Since I'm guessing the teens killed (or at least maimed so she had to kill) Katty she is probably trying to provide a compelling alternative theory, to draw a thought from the Veronica Mars movie, which would be that she was killed by someone at the hotel, someone who was associated with her investigation, perhaps, who would that be. She likely knows Ravi and Katty have a connection and that Clive and Liv know about it. -

I don't like him as an epic love interest in VM but I really liked him and his acting, I think a lot of it is he got to be a lot more physically expressive. I'd like to see him do something where I thought I could fairly judge his acting now, just to figure out what to think. -

there's a lot here. I'm pretty sure Baracus, some of the other stuff, is held over to next season. I think the teens attack on Liv is what they did with Katty, but she was hujan and they managed to subdue her, Carey just disposed of the body, yes hoping Chase would be framed. Chase has only been there a short time--it took me a while to figure this out. COO would fit in with his traveling the world managing the blackwater type interests. I don't think he's been there long enough to be anything but acting head of something. He also has not had time to do a lot of stuff, really, and apparently does not have his finger on the slow pulse of FG, but neither did Viv. I think he is supposed to be a good guy, sort of, at this point, just trying to support his people. I think the whole dog collar thing has to be a crazy assed theory that gets them in the door, it makes no damn sense. -

HIV is an obvious comparison, yes it is a disease that can be transmitted sexually and through non sexual contact with bodily fluids, like zombie-ism, but people can also live their lives, which can be enhanced with drug regimens and medical care, working and playing along side people who do not have the disease. Because you don't normally scratch and bleed on people, or at least I don't. We've seen Liv live and work with non zombies, Ravi is not a zombie (yet) or Clive and she hasn't turned anyone that we know of...yes, she isn't a cardiologist which at this time seems like a good choice, but maybe in the future that could change. A disability is a condition, it doesn't have to be present from birth and can be acquired by accident, illness or develop later in life, the substantially effects the persons cognitive, physical, mental, sensory, intellectual, etc functioning. I don't think this excludes things that can be also contagious and some diseases can disable people. Zombie-ism is actually pretty darn easy to deal with as it stands in this world and imagine if more than Ravi were working on a cure, vaccine, or prophylaxis. Also, usually we don't shoot people who have contagious diseases down in the streets, especially ones who can be easily treated (fed a few tablespoons of brain paste) and will no longer be a danger. Romero's Zombies always were a metaphor for the problems inherent in an unequal distribution of wealth. These Zombies may be a plea for universal health care. Heh. -

Love the cheese plate with the blue brain wedged into servings. The bowl with the brain appetizers, advertising the bar. The choreographer brain. Wonderful. Really liked Chase now that he finally gets to have something to do, although he is kind of a fundamentalist Zombie person and I'm sure that will increasingly become an issue. Keep that dog safe, dude. Chase actually would do well matched with Liv, he would take the weirdness in stride. Liv and Major are really much better as friends. Major is so in need of a group to join and belong to because, what the hell? Also, turning back and forth has got to be really hard on some part of the body and what is going to happen with his future children, if any? Anyone's future children, really? It just seems like a bad bet at this point. Have we figured out why he has these rejection issues? I enjoyed that Clive was disease phobic and continued to be afraid in this episode, continuity. I'm sorry about Bozio. It would be nice if someone's relationships worked out. Those two teens are horribly, horribly creepy. They may have stabbed, hit Katty and Carey may have disposed of her for the girls, I think that solved that mystery. -

Okay, crazy person. This is not a dangerous contagious disease anymore, it is a disability. It is a disability that can be treated a lot more cheaply that a lot of other disabilities/diseases/genetic syndromes with something that people aren't using (brains once dead, although people do have issues with that sort of thing, like they do with recycling hearts or kidneys, too, sometimes). People with zombism can lead long, healthy productive lives and will make companies that make hot sauce rich as hell. Now that it is in the open research can start on vaccines, see Ravi (and yeah that wasn't realistic), trying to find artificial substances, even um vegan substances that will work as brain substitutes. Yup, zombie crossed lovers will have a vogue. Yes, there will be rumors, many true, that actors have turned themselves to stay young forever. Yes, there are going to be people who strap bombs to themselves, drive planes into the needle, and want to bomb the city. Also, FG is established world wide, has proved worth as military personnel, zombie-ism is not confined to seattle. There is a stick as well as carrot. -

OK, someone must have seen Veronica Mars. I'm thinking that, like the VM character, she'll make more sense in retrospect, set off fewer alarms episodically. Liv, acting brain crazy. Chase, so very distracting with those abs and biceps. VM and Izombie have some things in common, I think, and one is we are mostly seeing things from the leads point of view and Liv never got farther into Filmore Grave's than Viv's office. (well, until Chase's bed, but late in the game). I think the Dominatrix thing was part of trying to get Baracus into office, possibly with other people positioned in authority in Seattle, benefiting FG whether they went with Plan A or Plan B, but the out and out murdery parts actually Carey. I think there is a good chance the cures were stolen by Carey, too, and are be held back as possible carrots for people. Giving people a cure for their child who would never grow up otherwise? What wouldn't someone do for that? Every show has to hold something back for the next year. -

I think he was on the plane and she interviewed him and he got her room number so they could keep in touch. He'd want to keep track of the investigation and apparently she'd want to have sex. He doesn't seem like he'd want to turn her and precipitate the apocalypse before the island is finished, so I'm guessing sex is off the table. Lord knows what Liv thinks at this point. This may end up being a turning point for her. -

In fairness Peyton doesn't have a boyfriend right now and her two main plotlines, investigating Wechtler's death and becoming Baracus's chief of staff are both job, not romance, related and the Baracus job would seem to put her at the center of the action withour romantic entanglement and she is part of these things because of who she is, not what she is. She's doing much better than Liv, who is being swamped by brain waves, which she no longer needs to have happen with the advent of brain paste, but probably thinks are the only things that give her value in her job. With any luck she starts to find herself. I like Don E and would really miss him. -
PODCAST S01.E03 Go Pirates: Nice Meeting Everyone?
Affogato replied to Primetimer's topic in Veronica Mars
I remember that the seizure disorder actually exists but doesn't cause violence or memory loss, it's something like sleep walking, but you remember everything?--the seizure disorder was supposed to explain how he would hurt Lilly and not remember hurting her. I wouldn't expect 'bipolar' to be fairly represented, although many things were--Logan's separation anxiety, for example. I didn't know he was supposed to be bipolar, but given that information, I think the suddenly trying to grab Logan's flask and chasing him around, and jumping off the bleachers was meant to represent a manic incident. It seemed out of character, but Logan seemed to recognize it and even welcome the flask shenanigans, even if the bleacher jump disturbed him, which would go along with the medications flattening his aspect. The pill was pretty generic, actually looked like a Tylenol caplet. -
PODCAST S01.E02 Go Pirates!: All Is Not As It Seems
Affogato replied to Primetimer's topic in Veronica Mars
Yeah, Veronica having male friends that were just friends or compatriots fits her personality (her female friends, Lilly and Mac, aren't girlish, either, Veronica isn't a girly person and this is only emphasized when she takes a level of jerkass as the show starts). Also she was pretty darn busy having a hero quest that made her choice of boyfriends , symbols of her initially refusing to move forward with her life quest. As far as why the PCHers and the rich girls only got it on behind closed doors is why, if Celeste humped the pool boy, we never heard about it. If the show is rebooted they should probably make the Kane's black or Latino. Bet Weevil is still undesirable, though. -

Yeah, so maybe there isn't actually a big bad, as Rob Thomas has claimed....we are just engaged in a set up for the apocalypse, because there isn't time for a bad. Chase, who is a zombie (spray tan) and isn't in a relationship with Carey or anyone else (hooks up with Liv in bar) is leading the mercenary outings because that is his area of expertise and, so far, has been more reactive than active, although he seems to believe in the FG mission, If he was on the plane it makes sense he'd have Katty's room number, keep it, and may not know she's dead yet. Carey was already in place re Baracus's campaign and is looking more suspect by the minute, but for no clear reason, There isn't any definite proof pointing to who blew up the helicopter. Boss and Blaine are just going to come forth and mess things up on the big aftermath, but they will have a ton of brains to keep some semblance of order. Kudos to Rob Thomas for finding ways to have Chase run around mostly naked, because he's much better looking naked than clothed. I'm spending way too much time on this, but If the time doesn't allow Chase to set things up realistically, he probably didn't set it up. Thanks for your timeline. -

Is there an actual timeline? It seems like 'a week or two' is a pretty short time frame to take over FG operations, beicoming CEO and field commander in charge of actual forays and insert himself into local politics. Even if he had been planning the operation for a long time this seems unlikely to me, although it is possible that the FG involvement is a 'black water' operation and he may have been around Seattle a lot when his brother was around, which would help people accept his leadership. It would also argue that he was supporting Baracus long term. Plus buy a house, although he would have minions for that. I admit him being in a hotel room argues the short time frame, but when has he had time to hang out in the bar and pick up women? Yes, eating tubes of brain paste is a huge timesaver.... I understand Katty and the CDC are still around, so the time must be short. I just don't find my belief suspended. It just seems pretty odd to me, as if the time line must have continued as if there were 26 episodes, in 13 episodes, if that makes any sense. Like when they cut the extra episodes they also excised the time. -

the puppy dog was in the plane, there are no coincidences ? was pupper coming with carry, Natalie, someone we don'tchanged is Natalie connected to chase? I think possible, anyway, and that sending her in may be to find out about cure. also, she was probably paid as whore, neither Blaine or fg ignoring bussing ness model. Carey, not carry because phone. -

This is chock full of things that had rolled under my brain fridge. I thought that Viv's husband was one of Major's corpsicles, just based on how she described it, which means that he romeroed and then died. I wondered if that was the motivation for the takeover. Viv seemed more bloody minded her first appearance than she did in the later ones. Chase, trying to infiltrate politically, may see himself as the more reasonable solution. I think it is odd that the zombies would accept a serial kidnapper/freezer, particularly not knowing the particulars, and yeah they knew he was a zombie, so what the hell? It would be darned magical if he just showed up human. FG seems to have a 'one of ours' sort of policy. The Russian power plant storyline, which had been taken away from Our Heroes by the FBI, could have gotten put on the back burner due to recent real world events. -

I remember that Ravi wasn't sure of that at all, seemed to think it was extremely contagious. I remembered them not making out when he was human. I think Chase killing Katty is the obvious choice, he likes having someone in the police force on his side, the mayor, trying to infiltrate the CDC makes sense and if she doesn't agree he kills her. I also would like Kristen Bell, as Veronica Mars FBI agent, to show up and whip Chase's ass. -

The Harley family, being paranoid stalker types, would know where Major lives? This comes down to Clive, too, and he should feel guilty. -

Also, if it really was suspected bioterrorism then you'd think the cdc would be handling it in conjunction with homeland security or the fbi. I was sorry to see Christina Cox go, I liked her work in Blood Ties, long ago, and hoped she'd be around for a while, although given the promos I knew she wasn't long for this (that) world. Here's a minor puzzler. Liv finds herself kissing this guy, pulls back and walks away, fine. she has noticed the danger and will not jump the bones of a human (are we sure a kiss wouldn't turn him, it is more than a scratch). Shouldn't she be taking his contact information? If the cdc woman (Kathy?) had sex with Chase, though, she either was originally a zombie and the cdc is investigating this using their own zombies or was rogue from the cdc? OR Chase turned her. So, did he have sex with her to turn his own CDC person or did she present herself as a Zombie, turns out she wasn't (it should be easy to tell during sex) and he had her killed? Or did he have her killed because she was CDC? He seems fairly careful about cross infection, I doubt he's picking up random non zombies. I'm still hoping Chase will avert the villain role, because it is so obvious. Now that he has a little dog I'm going to be pissed if the pupper is orphaned, even if Liv adopts him. -
Bat Boy rocks and so did the Weekly World News, RIP. In our world drugs would be the first thing people would think of, I believe.

I absolutely live in hope that they do have a plan for this season and that this season turns out to bridge into the next season, so everything isn't wrapped up too quickly. I suppose I'll find out soon enough. The Buffy comics have Harmony at one point getting her own show and becoming a fashion icon, I wonder if at some point being extra pasty will become a fashion must as the knowledge of Zombies become real. And is it an antiaging miracle?
-
Well, to carry the analogy farther, I think there are different ways to handle people with dangerous, highly contagious diseases, I mean different than promoting general public fear, waving guns, ostracism and death.

Yes, yes, yes. Girl from Panama. God, that would make sense.
