  1. So I just watched season 1 on DVD and am starting on this season. The highlight of this ep was the dog aggressively voting with the parents in favor of Yellowstone. How dare you fail your classes and keep him from getting his vacation, Courtney! I also enjoyed getting Buffy flashbacks from the teenagers patrolling the town.
  2. Korath: How exactly did you stop Thanos, the Mad Titan, from decimating half of the universe? Oh, no. Thanos: I'm a big enough man to admit when I'm wrong. T'Challa here showed me there was more than one way to reallocate the universe's resources. T'Challa: Sometimes the best weapon in your arsenal is just a good argument. Thanos: Aye, aye, Commander. Although I still assert my plan was not without its merits. *Ravagers all groan.* Kraglin: Pretty sure it's still just genocide, big guy. Thanos: And I'm pretty sure it's efficient.
  3. Aw, I'm happy. A cliffhanger that doesn't leave me worried about the characters. Lois looked like she was going to be sick when she saw Natalie. So, Jonathan's arm is healed? Just give the boy powers. (Not convinced he wasn't the one flying them back down after Jordan took back control.) I knew Jordan's mental illness was going to play a role in his ability to fight through mind control. I do love the Cushings being great community members. I'm glad I can just plain like Kyle moving forward. The Cushing barbecue at the end reminded me of the ending of Falcon and Winter Soldier. I didn't see the Jor-El funeral coming. It was a nice touch. I'm really not sure I care about Natalie enough to have her stay. Like, yes, I'm glad (not surprised) that she's alive, and I would love to see some weirdo bonding between the boys and their not-sister, but I don't really know what her role can be going forward.
  4. With Sarah, Jordan was holding onto her during the crash so that probably helped.
  5. I think we all knew at least one Kent boy was getting taken from Lois crying in the promo. I do like that them being believably stupid teenage boys happens. Like yes, they shouldn't be daydrinking at 14 and ignoring Grandpa's calls but it's believable. Love that Jon stepped up and tried to shoot the kryptonite gun lefthanded. But seriously, no one thought Edge just standing there was a good idea? And Sam, why are you telling either of the boys to grab the gun? You know perfectly well only one of them has any business handling kryptonite weaponry. I do think Jordan being half-human and not from Smallville, along with not agreeing to the Eradicator will help him fight through the brainwashing. I wanted Sophie to get to say something during the fight between Sarah and their parents. I really like the relationship between Sophie and Sarah. Sarah seems like a great big sister. Which Flash villain do we think is that girl's dad? In fairness, he can't do that yet. Though Dad should totally give him a lift. Yeah, I thought the same thing. If he'd said childhood best friend or something, I'd have believed it more. Stop abandoning your best friends, Clark. And call Jimmy!
  6. I did assume "Our guest is probably hungry" meant they had Tal-Rho locked in the barn. It being JHI as their actual guest was better. It was nice to see Clark talking to him as just Clark. Clark and him fistbumping at catching Larr was adorable and made me laugh. I'm not gonna lie, leaving the capabilities to kill Superman in the hands of one man sounds problematic. I think you need a backup plan for your fail safe, it's too easy if evil Superman knows only one guy has the ability to kill him. Like, uh, maybe give some weapons to STAR Labs? Put one on the Waverider where time travel will make it harder for him to access? I fall more in love with Tyler Hoechlin's Superman/Clark every time. There's a lot of layers to the character and he reminds me of my childhood fave Dean Cain in his moments of doubt at the kitchen table with Lois. I'm continually impressed with Erik Valdez's portrayal of Kyle. He could be such an unlikable character in the wrong actor's hands, but he maintains that undercurrent of sympathy for the character and his struggles. Lois in Mom-Mode yelling "Jonathan, get upstairs!" without turning around was great, as was her feeling bad for yelling at Clark but needing to keep it up to scare the hell out of Jordan. I thought junior girl was going to turn out to be a possessed Kryptonian sent to kidnap Jonathan. Same for the cops stopping Jordan and Sarah. Or that something would go horribly wrong at the assembly and it would be a miracle they weren't there. Lois casually sitting in Clark's lap kissing gives me life.
  7. Why yes, I did yell "It's a whole family of supers!" when all the speedsters took off running in a line. I liked seeing Iris and Barry fighting back to back (nice visual representation of "we are the Flash"), but I wanted it to be better, bigger, more epic. Jordan Fisher is a great addition to the Flash family. He plays a good mix of fun and serious, and I really like his chemistry Jessica Parker Kennedy. Iris needs to wear a ponytail more often. She looks adorable. I'm so happy to have Cisco back. I hope this means we'll get a few guest spots by him in the next season. It does feel more realistic to have him come back and rejoin the team seamlessly when needed. I love Jay stopping Bart from going after his father. I did not call Reverse Flash coming back. What's all this "you can't kill a god" nonsense? Does the man no know what happened to Savitar? Speed force lighsabers? I honestly don't now how to feel about this. Somewhere between awesome and cheesy. I like that Reverse Flash's downfall is not letting anyone else kill Barry. Didn't call Kramer having Peter Petrelli powers. Barry proposes for a third time. I assumed Bart was gonna sing "Running Home to You," so it was nice it was something else. He got his dad and Papa Joe's sweet vocal abilities. "They say love is a friendship that is caught on fire, but ours is a friendship that was struck by lightning." That was a good finale kiss. And no sad cliffhanger! This finale is way better than the season was. I think my favorite thing about this season has been Michelle Harrison getting to do stuff besides give pep talks and die. Not saying I was onboard with all the Speed Force Nora stuff, but she showed a good range and I'm genuinely happy for her getting a meatier role.
  8. Zari: Tarazi siblings! Activate! Nate: She did it because she loves you, Mick. We all do. Astra: Debatable. Spooner: I’m not exactly a wizard, John. Constantine: Oh, so I didn’t see you stop a giant sandworm with your mind? Exactly.
  9. I am embarrassed at my inability to recognize Gillian Jacobs with brown hair. I knew she looked familiar, but had to look her up to see who it was. I didn't like this one as much. Falsely accused of witchcraft, rich powerful guy made a deal with the devil, pretty basic. Definitely doesn't seem to have balanced out the good versus the bad. Like, you got one nice town and only had to kill hundreds of people. The cost-benefit analysis doesn't check out.
  10. I really liked how they eased into it. With him initially trusting Superman enough to believe that him saying to get John was Superman knowing he’d be turned and wanting to be put down (which was certainly a step up from all John’s previous murder attempts), to being more reluctant about it, to seeing him as a husband and father, to taking down his shields and protecting Clark’s identity as he talks him down. I really love that Clark asking him to take him out was the final straw that made him not do it.
  11. Based on this article, I'm under the impression that the Green Lantern show is supposed to feature several Green Lanterns, so I've assumed Diggle would become a Green Lantern and be a guest or recurring character on that series or at least get an ongoing role in future crossovers and the like.
  12. When it absolutely, positively has to be there today, call in the Deliveryman. But, seriously, a powerful, probably top secret anti-Kryptonian weapon, I can see only trusting it to someone with higher clearance. I don’t see why this should stop there. He can show up on This Is Us, give Randall a heartwarming speech on family. Stop by an NCIS, help track a national security threat. And maybe Shaun from the Good Doctor will give him some answers about his headaches.
  13. John Wesley Shipp looks so much older than he did last time we saw him. Then I looked him up, and he's 66, so he's holding up much better than I realized. I do like that we established Jay and Bart are so close. I do like that they made it clear this isn't the version of Nora we know. She and Bart played off each other well. She played desperate and exasperated big sister well. Bart gets his pretty crying from his dad. How dare you call Chester the smartest person you know, Bart? Is Cisco not in your life? I squealed and threw my hands in the air when Cisco showed up. I had been thinking earlier about how it didn't make sense that Carlos would leave right before the 150th episode, and it made me so happy that he arrived. I thought Wally was gonna walk in, but this was better. "We make great people." "Yeah we do." That was sweet. Allegra not telling them all right away that Esperanza died seems weird.
  14. 1x12 John Diggle: Come on, he's Superman. I've fought beside him. He's the best we have. Oliver would've said that. Hell, they all would've. Sam: This is not an easy decision for me to make. John Diggle: What? Exhausting every option to save the life of an ally, a hero? That should be an easy one.
  15. Needed just a little more Diggle. I was half-hoping he'd show up all Green Lantern style to help Superman and Steel fight Edge. And I'm disappointed we didn't get some kind of John confusion. But I did love that Diggle spoke up for Clark as someone he'd fought beside, and that he was also speaking for all the heroes, including Oliver, who probably has near mythical status in-universe after dying to save the multiverse. Although, there's something deeply wrong about Oliver being mentioned on this show before Kara... Family bonding! I was weirdly happy to see Sophie Cushing rejoin her family. I felt bad for her missing the family time, although I don't blame them for leaving her with friends as they repaired the vandalized window. Really, Kyle Cushing actor is so talented, he'd be such an easy character to hate if he didn't carry that sense of a man genuinely trying to do the right thing for everyone he loves and just failing at almost every turn. And yay for Kent family group hug! I love Jon encouraging his brother, appealing to John Henry Irons about who his dad is, and apologizing for hitting him with a truck. I want to say he's the heart of the Kent family, but, nope I love them all too much, and they are all self-sacrificing and brave and kind and they shall have a four-way tie. I feel like everything got wrapped up a little too quickly and neatly. Which probably means something will go horribly wrong next week.
  16. Alex Garfin interview with a clip from tonight’s episode.
  17. I liked Lita referring to Ava as "Aunt Ava." I'd forgotten than Ava accompanied Mick on all his supervised childhood memory visits, so it actually made sense. Also, I think I heard Ava call him "Mickey" which amuses me greatly Behrad looked good when he was just drinking coffee and stealing Nate's pomade. I loved Nate channeling his inner Rip Hunter, popping his collar as the landlord turned into "Nick Hunter" and went after Guss Guss. Don't know how I feel about Zaris switching places. I've started really liking Zari 2.0, and while I miss Zari 1.0, I'd made my peace with it. But the switching Zaris is giving me Caitlin/Killer Frost vibes and I don't need that in my life again.
  18. Behrad: So this surprise is really starting to take on "improvised lie that backfired" vibe. Nate: It’s called a plot twist, amatuer. Lita: So you’re saying my dad is pregnant? *sitcom laughter* Everyone: GIDEON! Gideon: Sorry, this is the laugh I was programmed with.
  19. I liked the monkey storyline when it first aired…of course, I was eight at the time. I still have some nostalgia for the monkey episodes. And I love the line “Outbreak 2: The Monkey Takes Manhattan.”
  20. Well, the girl from Stranger Things lived this time, so that's a plus. I think the core teens this time were a little more likable - Ziggy, Cindy, Nick and Tommy. I thought they were pulling a fakeout with which sister it would be who lived. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense that she is Ziggy because the story starts with her near murder in the first scene. Seriously, that bitch with the lighter is insane. And she's not even possessed! I liked the Stephen King references. This one didn't feel as classic Fear Street to me, probably because of the 1970s, but it was a great Friday the 13th homage. In regard to the rhyme, yep, I definitely think the line is "Goode men." So, good luck, Nick. Hope you're not evil. Hope you don't die. Didn't guess it would be the mall built on top of the campgrounds with the hanging tree in the middle.
  21. Great, now I want Luke Wilson to show up as a Loki. I love Alligator Loki. I have so many questions. Is he from a universe where the Asgardians are animals? Was he magicked into being one? Was he always an alligator this whole time amongst humanoid Asgardians and they still never told him he was adopted? Favorite little thing I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned - while the Lokis were drinking boxed wine, Kid Loki had a Hi-C.
  22. I hate that the subtitles simplified the end of this to "which sadly I didn't find all that strange." Classic Loki: We're in a shark tank. Alioth is the shark. Alligator Loki: ( Growls ) Classic Loki: Oh, there's no such thing as an alligator tank. Besides, it's a better metaphor. He's overly sensitive like the rest of us. Our Loki: Hang on, that thing's a Loki too? Classic Loki: Oh, yes. Our Loki: Okay, fine. Willing to accept that. Why are there so many of you? Classic Loki: Because Lokis survive. That's just what we do. * Our Loki: What was your Nexus event, Your Majesty? Kid Loki: I killed Thor. * Classic Loki: That's alligator for growling and saying "Liar" at the same time. * Loki in a Vest: Why you beef-witted, half-faced scrubs. We had a deal! * Our Loki: Oh, no, wait, wait, wait, these are my friends. Well, they're, um... How best to put this? Us as a child, us in the future, and us as an alligator. It's best not to question it. * Classic Loki: You really don't remember him? Mobius: I mean, the TVA arrested a lot of Lokis, but, no, I don't remember an alligator. I mean, who's to say he's even a Loki Variant? Classic Loki: He is green, isn't he? Mobius: I don't know, he could be lying. The long con. Of course, that just makes him more likely to be a Loki. It's always the game within the game with you guys, which I respect.
  23. Yeah, I enjoyed this one. It indulged my 4th/5th grade childhood nostalgia (yeah, maybe the classroom library should've stuck to Goosebumps) while also making it appropriately R-rated. My favorite joke was the Fear Street-esque books being written by Robert Lawrence. Yes, that's what the R.L. stood for! I know better than to get attached to characters in the Fear Street series and yet, I was annoyed when Kate and Simon died, especially since poor Kate saw it coming. And Maya Hawk characters need to stop working at malls!
  24. 1x09 Sam: This wasn’t supposed to happen. Lois: Really? ‘Cause it sure seems like a weapon designed to hurt Superman would hurt Superman. * Jordan: It would’ve sucked to come home and find out I was an only child.
  25. Chester fanboying over Diggle sparks joy. I especially liked him calling Diggle "the heart and soul of Team Arrow," although I think that argument could be made for all of Original Team Arrow. I also liked the mutual admiration between Cecile and Diggle. It was nice to see Diggle suited up again. I didn't remember a recent version of his suit having green on it, but I like it. I loved him and Cecile going on a mission together. I liked seeing her empath abilities revealing how intense those "headaches" are. Also, Cecile is like a quarter of John's size, and it's adorable. "Nanites, courtesy of Ray Palmer!" I love a good callback. Have Diggle and Barry hugged before? Because that was beautiful. I wish they'd stop saying Iris is "under the weather." Like, the euphemism was overused. She's sick, she's not feeling well, she's not feeling up to it, she's resting. Say other things. I'm so glad she appeared. I was shocked. I didn't think we'd see her this ep. Did Deon actually call her "Mom?" If so, that's weird, although I did like that he was trying to protect her. I'm thinking Iris is pregnant with Nora and Bart and that's what's screwing with her ability to stay in her rightful place in the timeline. Can't say I ever cared about Esperanza but her going all Infinity Wars in Allegra's arms was sad. Shame they killed her off right after they made her voice stop being annoying. You get fraternal twins! And you get fraternal twins! Everybody gets fraternal twins! I think the Bart actor is well-cast. Something about him reminds me of both Wally and Barry. Although he does seem younger than Nora. And I gotta say, I don't believe Barry would pass the name "Bartholomew" onto the next generation. Spoilers for other Arrowverse show's promos:
