  1. In fairness Smoak-Queen sounds like a Disney villain.
  2. I do like how Barry just can't wrap his head around the petty evil of Eobard Thawne. I am chanting "Let him die! Let him die!" I did like Joe calling Barry and Iris so angry and disappointed with his "I raised you better than this!" tone. I don't think de-powering Thawne is the worst idea, although seriously not helping him continue trying to kill you is self-defense. There's nothing wrong with it. I liked Thawne's scene with Caitlin. I thought Danielle Panabaker played it well (a sentence I've not said in years) and the betrayal of Caitlin and Ronnie has been overshadowed by his relationships with Cisco and Barry. The team did look gorgeous walking into their celebration. Damien Darhk and Joe West having a dad chat was not something I knew I needed. I did love that he didn't disappear himself on purpose. I didn't really expect to see Courtney Ford tonight. And I really like how Joe can just walk away with his arm around her to tell her things cause his dad energy is that strong. I do wish we'd had Ray/Brandon with his wife. They're better together. Was Mia called Mia Queen in those last few Arrow eps after the multiverse erasure or was she still Smoak?
  3. Okay, this was the best episode in years. First of all, the plot was good, high stakes and had Thawne level up in terms of being a successful child murderer and marrying a woman he once sent Nazis after. He's a psychotic villain and he and Barry have such amazing chemistry when they go toe-to-toe. Speaking of chemistry, everybody played off each other pretty well and made me believe these characters had a history we'd never seen. Ryan and Iris had great chemistry. Can Iris have a female best friend now? Can they stay in contact? I liked them so much. She only gets to have these friendships in rare crossovers, like when she went parading around the multiverse with Lois and Clark or worked with Felicity to fight Nazis and save Supergirl. Damien Darhk and Barry Allen working together. They had terrific chemistry. Neal McDonough is just delightful in everything he's in. I love how Barry got through to him by telling him he saved Nora in his world. I like how much he loves her and that he has just that tiny bit of honor when it comes to her. And did they seriously never have the "you have a daughter named Nora? me too!" conversation? I'd been waiting for that. I appreciated the irony of Alex telling the Paragon of Humanity he was missing out on the best parts of being human. And I'm sorry he doesn't seem to have his wife and kid he mentioned in his first appearance. Stupid Thawne, ruining destinies for everyone. I'm glad he got the suit and everything, but this ten-year delay makes everything so confusing. Here's the thing - I like Allegra and Chester just fine, but as a cute little "pair the spares" kind of thing. Not every love story is epic. But they're more epic than Frost and Chillblaine, I'll give 'em that. And they brought Joe back not to hear a single word from Jesse L. Martin? Seriously? He's credited, they couldn't have him record a "Hey, Bear" to end the episode? Hell, loop in previous dialogue, I miss him! And I miss Cisco enough that killing him off in an alternate timeline offscreen elicited a "NO!" from me.
  4. "Because you're the best of us." Excuse you, Jefferson, Clark Kent is the best of you. Don't go around contradicting John Diggle's dramatic speeches, he's been doing this longer than you. Aw, a lightning themed hero said "Run, Barry, Run." I enjoy the dynamic between Jefferson and Barry. Like how Jefferson ticks all the boxes for what Barry wants and needs in a mentor after all his mentors have died - authoritative Black father figure, more experienced superhero, guy with a lightning bolt on his chest. And when Jefferson said "Don't bring my family into this" I got this idea that a full-fledged Pierces vs. West-Allen family battle would be EPIC. I've seen like 3 episodes of Black Lightning, but I really do like Jefferson. And Cress Williams but I say that about most people who've been on Veronica Mars. I liked Cecile and what's her name's dynamic as well. If she hadn't tried to turn Flash in, I'd say they should keep doing this and she could be her Captain Cold reluctant frienemy type. I saw Chyler Leigh's name in the credits, but didn't expect that to be how she cameoed and completely missed Osric Chau's name. Ok, did Thawne pull a Lex Luthor and convince everyone he's a good guy? Or some new iteration of Wells? Has Iris brainwashed with some weird hypno engagement ring? Why does this evil plan involve killing Joe? I have so many comments about Future Chester's hair. None of them are kind. Well, Sara's now pretty unkillable, so probably invoke Supergirl and J'onn J'onzz for whatever alien-themed tactics would be needed to stop her. And anyone else - just throw 'em on Lian Yu for a while, that'll do the trick.
  5. That's so heartbreaking. Dominic Burgess put in a great performance. I hope he gets an Emmy nomination. "His head was barely attached to his spine." Ugh, what happened to him was so sad. And again, I can't see how this would be something done on purpose even for a psychopath it seems utterly nonsensical. He wants to make money, why would he do it purposefully? It seems so counterintuitive. And in the show at least he seemed hesitant to work on his buddy which suggests he did know the likely outcome of one of his surgeries. Alec Baldwin was awesome in the courtroom scene. The defense attorney made a good case. Her points are completely valid - he should've been reported, they should've trained him better, he should've been stopped - except for the point of course that Dr. Dunstch is so terrible and clearly should know that he's causing injury, especially immediately after killing a patient the day before.
  6. His kid was so cute. I do hope Dr. D actually loves his kids, but he's such a narcissist. The scene at the prison where they were together seemed genuine, but who's to say. Charming people is his thing. Personally, I think his face would be rounder instead of just adding the jowls he seems to have been given. I feel like he didn't know what he was doing and just couldn't admit that he couldn't do it. Like when he would think of an idea to "fix" the patients and like in Jerry's case he couldn't admit it, back off and just not make things worse. I think a personality disorder and/or maybe a learning disability is involved but I believe it's incompetence not malice in his surgery. Is he crazed? Yes, but I don't think he intentionally made his friend's paralysis worse or left a sponge in a patient on purpose. However he definitely should have known better. The Jerry actor is doing a great job and has the best southern accent I've ever heard from a British actor. I see he was originally going to be played by Chris Sullivan, who I think would've been good, but this is just such a perfect performance. I hope he gets an Emmy nomination.
  7. So happy to see Jennifer Morrison directed. The weirdo French intro of Kim was weird tho. This is the first time I’ve seen AnnaSophia Robb play a grownup. I look forward to her performance. Duntsch is a terrible boyfriend.
  8. My impression from the podcast is that Duntsch didn't realize/truly comprehend just how bad he was at everything. I think he wanted to prove he could do something well, but he utterly utterly failed. I think they did imply a learning disability with him being unsure of left and right and that screwing up his football career. But then there's the dirty, holey scrubs and there's no excuse for that or the way people ended up just broken and smashed. Like I could do surgery better than this guy, and I'm a children's librarian. This is Christian Slater's most delightful role ever.
  9. I listened to the podcast and just recently got Peacock so I'm watching. Enjoying the performances. This is really well-made. I would kind of love to see Henderson and Kirby's reaction to the actors playing them.
  10. I'm so proud of myself for immediately recognizing Kandyse McClure even in her villainous makeup and outfit. And let me express complete surprise that it took her this long to appear in the Arrowverse. I mean, she's a Vancouver-based sci-fi actress, she should've been here five years ago. Aw, Barry did the superhero landing. He usually just dramatically stops in a side lunge or runner's crouch. Grant Gustin and Danielle Nicolet play those freaking out scenes so well. I'm trying to remember if Barry was in the scenes where they hinted at Joe's death last episode. I don't know why Jefferson just showed up but I want to believe it's because there was a weird giant lightning blast and he just had to check it out ala "there's a disturbance in the force" kind of thing.
  11. She's the Meryl Streep of her generation. And seeing how young she was in this after seeing Handmaid's Tale made me realize how long this movie's been waiting to come out. Then again, Paul Rudd looked about 30, so who knows?! This might be the only acceptable use of CGI-ing a dead person into a movie. Give the character/actor a heroic and heartfelt sendoff. I don't know who wore which suit, but the Stranger Things fan in me wants to believe that Finn Wolfhard wore the Zeddmore one, since Mike was adamant about not being Winston on Stranger Things. I enjoyed it, but I confess, it's my least favorite Ghostbusters. And I'm trying too hard to figure out the timeline of when Egon would've left his daughter.
  12. I still want Juliet and Shawn to have a kid. He had the maturity to get married, I think he could have the maturity to raise a kid. Especially with Uncle Gus around. The priest constantly going into exorcism mode was hilarious, though it made me wonder if he's showing signs of dementia, which made me sad. It is wrong to give us no Juliet/Lassie moments. I'm glad Timothy Omundson is doing better. That outfit looked sharp. I hope he gets to become a consultant like Henry did. It would make the most sense for his character. I forgot Lassie had bought Henry's house, so I was very confused when his daughter came running out of the house. It is weird how much Shawn/James looked like Rob Zombie. Did that occur to someone when he wore the Hagrid outfit in the first movie? I liked Juliet saying that Selene was family since she was marrying Gus. I'm a sucker for the guys considering each other family. This is my least favorite of the movies, but that doesn't mean I want them to stop. Subpar Psych beats so much else on TV. Come on, son!
  13. "Oh, fuck, I'm gonna need more tarps" might be the funniest line ever said on this show. Penn Badgely really has fantastic delivery. I can't believe how happy I was to hear Theo moan when Joe threw the shovel. Ok, weird, that Joe gave Theo the "This is not your fault" line. I mean, I appreciate the complexity of Joe not wanting to kill him. I didn't call Love poisoning the knife. I can't fault her the logic of "none of this would've happened if you hadn't grabbed a weapon." I mean, it's kind of a secret test of character kind of vibe. The acting this season has been some of the best. All of the side characters are well-acted and surprisingly nuanced. Characters who are much easier to root for. I loved Marianne trying to reason with Love and try to get her out of a dangerous relationship. It was so sweet. I love how Sherrie realized there was a key inside the cage because they don't trust each other. Hateable psychos that they are, Love dying and Joe leaving the baby with Dante were sad, moving scenes. I just realized Young Joe is Young Ray Palmer from Legends of Tomorrow, and good lord, that kid has range. "No one says no to a man who got turned into a pie." Oh, my god they are doing blogs about the cage! Yes! Can next season be them, Theo, Scott Speedman and Jenna Ortega hunting Joe down and bringing him to justice? Dr. Nicky can join them. I am happy to see so many characters surviving and thriving in the aftermath.
  14. Joe: I have some fucking weirdos in the basement. Love: You two are acting super fucking weird. I hate their hypocrisy and superiority and entitlement so much. Joe: Do you think now that I deserve all the bad things that happen to me? Yes, yes, you do! For all of the adult choices you have made, yes you do! Ok, Theo/Sherrie/Carey actors are amazing. The scene of him finding them was so well acted, and then Theo and Love's scene. Although how Theo doesn't just immediately calls 911 upon finding people locked in a clear cage is beyond me. How dare Love have the nerve to look shocked/concerned at the guy she hit in the head with a fire extinguisher seemingly being dead at the bottom of the stairs? How did you think this wasn't gonna be the outcome?
  15. It's a great color for her. And even as someone who doesn't generally read comics, I'm like, "Oh, yay, Iris gets her red hair!" Give her a year and she'll be giving Cat Grant a run for her money. I liked it. Chester hugging our wonderful wholesome Ray of sunshine made me very happy. Brandon Routh just presents such warmth and kindness there. And I'm glad Chester's dad's getting a foundation in his name. A lot of good can come from those two working together. I got a little thrown off every time Ray said "Nora," but I absolutely loved how he threw out that she would be capable of handling any supernatural threats that arrived. Yes, your wife is a badass! Be proud of her!
  16. Iris: Don't you do it. I, uh, that's a bracelet, I've gotta run too. * Barry: Ugh, now I know how Diggle feels.
  17. I was not expecting Joe to say that he and Sherrie would be a "no" when he brought up the point of Love killing his girlfriends. Considering he'd rather fuck a cactus, I thought he'd be cool with Love potentially killing her. "Fucking creepshow." Well, when you're right, Theo, you're right. I was cheering for Cary and Sherrie (the rhyming names just clicked for me) when they started fighting back. Like, huh, they really are partners. They showed such a united front and clearly made plans before the psycho jealous murderers they almost fucked came back. Good for them. I hope they make it out of this and write some kind of survival blog about it. I really don't want Joe to keep leaving children without their guardians. I appreciate that the thing that spurred Joe on was the idea Henry growing up in the system. I mean, his parents are murderers and kidnappers, but so far they've been reasonably good parents.
  18. The drive thru actress was awesome. And unhinged grandma was played fantastically. I got The Incredibles vibes from the "babysitter gave the kid to the villain" vibes. I mean, I know Mama Quinn's not the most villainous person on the show, but "this isn't a baby" followed by taking the baby to your arson is definitely a problem. She's lucky his parents didn't kill her as soon as they found out. Cary made an excellent Mad Hatter. You are capable of the exact same shit, Joe, you fucking hypocrite! You have a strong habit of murdering women you care about! Hell, the only reason Love was able to murder Candace was because you sucked at murdering her and burying the body and you have the nerve to act like she's unhinged and sloppy!? I mean, she is, but pot/kettle.
  19. "You should've just eaten me in the womb." Hilarious, deeply disturbing and it made me feel just a little bit bad for her for a second. I did not remember Forty being this attractive. Then again, Love was probably hallucinating the best version of him, so understandable. Yeah, naked hugging in the bathtub as you call your brother your soulmate definitely gives off twincest vibes. In fairness to Joe, I do believe he would've shown up for whoever called him to help books. Books are the only thing he has a semblance of a healthy relationship with.
  20. Headline: Bullet Blondes Not Sisters: But Still Wanted, Dead or Alive Edison: Great Scott! Gwyn Davies: How many bloody time travelers are there?
  21. The villain stuff I didn't care about, though all due praise to John Cryer and Brenda Strong, who's never not allowed to be the dead mom, I guess. And deeply wondering why depowering the sun ever seemed reasonable to them. And why she didn't get charged with 6 seconds to go and then they talked for more than that. I don't think Kara should've revealed herself to the world. I would love to see references to that in future shows - i.e. "I don't care what Kara did, Clark, you're not revealing you're identity" etc. Lena's makeup was too dark for a daytime wedding and quite frankly it looked evil. I didn't remember how much I missed Cat/Calista until I saw her. Wish Kara would've flown to Colombia to talk to her once she knew Cat knew, though. I know it's Calista needing to stay in LA. I was so glad to see Jimmy and Winn again. And them discussing the OG Superfriends. I was weirdly touched by Jimmy and Kelly's interactions. And thank you for not letting this series end without a Melissa Benoist/Jeremy Jordan duet. It was the most pleasant of surprises. I like how they brought Mon-El back just to have him say he won't be back within this lifetime. So if Brainy's screwing up the timeline, he and Nia should definitely become Legends, right? J'Onn's gonna have a son with M'Gann! Yay! Helen Slater popping out of nowhere with a shotgun like she's Laurie friggin Strode was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
  22. The opening credits make me wanna do the Charleston. Zari's curly hair near the end looked so cute. I like Eddie. I hope they run into him in the future. I want to ship those two but I'm still team Zari/Constantine. I am always happy for Sage Brocklebank to get a paycheck. Were those real songs Gideon sang? That last one sounded way too appropriate for Legends. I loved the way the applause hesitated because they thought Ava and Sara were a sister act at first and then picked up once they knew they weren't.
  23. Astra: Okay, Captain Sharpe. Gideon: That's Spooner Cruz. * Spooner: Time to play the quiet game Gideon: Oh, the game invented by parents to quell their annoying children. Got it. * Astra: Where I come from agents and managers are a dime a dozen. I learned from Phil Specter himself. * Gary: Zari's really wearing the pants on this mission. I think I like it. Nate: Ugh. * Nate: You get off on being bossed around, you little sicko. Gary: You're just figuring this out now? * Ava: We're not sisters! *Audience claps*
  24. I should've known they were only finally making me like William because they wanted me to care when he dies. Well, they succeeded. Lex Luthor just shooting someone in cold blood is a great reminder of how scary Lex Luthor can be and how well John Cryer is playing the role. I can't pretend I think Esme is truly in danger.
  25. Nia: I hate the space-time continuum. * Brainy: I do not intend to be this Debbie with the depressing surname.
