  1. I think I liked the movie if I think of it as its own standalone non-Halloween movie compared to the finale of the 40-something franchise. Things I liked: Lindsey from the original lived from Kills. I thought she had died, but looking it up, it seems Tommy did get her to the hospital. I'm just glad we have more than Laurie living from the original film. Lady who couldn't work a drone from Kills survived. Hey, kid from 2018 movie, good to see you again. Have fun being the new Tommy in 20 years. The actor playing Corey, And I enjoyed seeing a male babysitter for once. That they caught up to real time after the last two took place on the same night. Laurie's house. I want it. Homage to the first movie with Laurie's outfit in that last confrontation. Michael went in a car crusher. (Although the decapitation from H20 is still best and I would've liked that done first). Things I did not like: Corey's not a murderer in the opening death but becomes one. Was there a supernatural element in there? It looked like Michael read Corey's past or something when they made eye contact, and I felt like they were implying the "unkillable" kind of thing when he was jumping off the radio station. And it felt like they initially were going with some kind of possession-like thing, or Michael's evil as an infection. What? We're having things happening not on Halloween? That's - that's not the formula! Not enough Michael Myers. And especially not enough spooky Michael POV stalking scenes. I don't know how I feel about the opening montage of all the things going wrong in Haddonfield with people killing. Seems like a thread that didn't properly go anywhere.
  2. Between this and Falcon and Winter Soldier, I'm thinking all MCU shows should have a finale that ends with a family cookout. Generally, I enjoyed the episode and thought it was one of the stronger episodes of the season. I was glad that in neither version did Abomination turn on Jen. I always expect Pug to be a jerk because of Arrow, but he's nice and I like that. I'm amused at bringing Matt back for nothing in this one. I was kind of expecting her to use him as co-counsel. Liked Jen's room having Legally Blonde and Erin Brockovich posters. I like that Jen has a large network of friendly coworkers and family. It's nice to see a superhero with a support system and no tragic backstory.
  3. All the guys in group jumping onto the idea of violence to defend Jen was so sweet. I loved Emil's "Jen's hurting and all we can offer her is violence?" I love how quickly they became Team Jen and made her a card. I admit it, I thought the guy was dead or kidnapped, not a villain. The photo was the creepiest part. God, Jen's a sound sleeper. "You 'previously on'd' that guy, right?" may have been my favorite 4th wall breakage yet. I want Daredevil to show up in his shiny new suit. Stop dragging this out. And then let him hang out with Wongers and Madisynn.
  4. I was shocked to see this one of the roles. I saw "oh, Vancouver based actor, let's see how many things I've seen him in." But this was the only role where I could remember the character.
  5. I loved the original as a kid. And as an adult. I like Ben. I don't hate the idea of his fiancée being his Al, but I kind of wish they'd kept that from the audience for a few eps and made it a reveal for us when it's revealed to Ben. I think it's interesting to see more people working for the project, but I think it's a little too busy. I don't want to get too involved with the other characters there; I'd really like to keep it to like 2 scenes in the present day and keep them focused on the "why did Dr. Song go rogue?" aspect and don't muddle that plot or make me try to care about personal lives of these people. I am interested in what happened to make Ben take the leap and how he got the code. I assume time travel shenanigans interfered from the future. Not gonna lie, I was not all that interested in the heist plot or the wife with kidney disease, but my inner Joan of Arcadia fan is always happy to see Michael Welch earn a paycheck and I liked his character well enough to want him to live. I'm disappointed to hear that Scott Bakula won't be appearing, although I'm glad it's keeping that show's continuity.
  6. That was so sad! I mean, I thought he was more respectful about it than a lot of guys would have been now that he's not shocked to see his date literally wake up as someone else, and there's nothing wrong with just not being attracted to someone, but the point they made over drinks about "I have literal superpowers and they still think they can do better than me" is a valid one. And yes, I want my nickel back for the lack of after credits scenes. Those have been the best part!
  7. I’ve seen it listed as a genius bonus on TVtropes. There’s a $10 million reward for its return so Mike doesn’t even need to do anything (else) illegal to make back the money he lost.
  8. I hate that this reference went over my head while watching.
  9. Of course Kreese faked his own death again! I didn't expect Mike to be the one driving the limo. It's nice to see Daniel and all of his peer enemies together. And of course, they all outvoted him. Johnny's quips during the fight at Silver's made me laugh. "You think you can hurt me? I'm running on whiskey and White Claw!" and "Wait your turn!" I'm glad the sonagram inspired Johnny to kick more ass. I like that he was about 90% done when Mike ran in. I'm glad Mike stole a Rembrandt on his way out. I don't think anyone thought Chozen was really dead, which almost looped around 360 to make me think he was dead and that we'd have a sad, shocking ending, motivation for next season and a sad Kumiko. "It's just a flesh wound!" "But it's, like, all your flesh!" Aw, Amanda has Daniel saved as Hubby-San. It didn't occur to me that it was Stingray in the yard. Even when he pulled up to save Daniel, it didn't occur to me that Amanda would be in the car. I'm glad he got to kick a little ass. The Miyagi Fangs clearly did not think everything through. I'm mad at Mitch for being a traitor, but they've telegraphed it well this season. Hey, they gave Cobra Kai student with cornrows a line! Good for him! I loved the setup for a Demetri/Kyler fight. And Demetri and Eli switching between fighting and computer stuff. Nice callback to the egg with the most vulnerable Miyagi Do having the tablet. I'm glad Robby and Tory were united against Silver. And it was really satisfying to hear no one reply to Silver's call to violence. And nice to see everyone drop the Cobra Kai merchandise on him. I'm glad to see Miguel and Sam back together. Robby and Tory too, so there's no love triangle bullshit anymore. There's a lot of fanservice this season, but that's the point of the entire show. They're really making sure they've given us all the possible matchups.
  10. I didn't think Tory's announcement would lead to her and Sam fighting (I know, what was I thinking), but I noticed Tory only blocked and dodged, which I appreciated. I'm glad Sam came to talk to her at the end. I knew Silver wasn't talking about the baby. But still weird he stalked him to a doctor's office. Aw, Bert and Stingray friendship. It's creepy but it's real. Stingray telling his story was a nice moment for the actor. I can understand him not coming forward. I mean, Silver beat him half to death when they were working together, what's he gonna do if he betrays him. "I shouldn't have just left. I should've taken you all with me." I'm glad Tory didn't respond with "no mercy." I love that Louie wants to make things up to Johnny. I like the backstory on Chozen and Kumiko. Daniel's right to say that he can't keep punishing himself for his actions 35 years ago, but I do not think she should date a guy who put a knife to her throat, just saying. It's great seeing the adults out and having fun. The senseis jamming to "Eye of the Tiger" was beautiful. I was sitting there wondering why they'd cut back to Louie and Anoush, and realized just a second before the driver showed up. Good thing Carmen and Amanda weren't in the limo. Edited to add: I just noticed Johnny smacks Daniel twice on "rising up to the challenge of our rival." Hee!
  11. "Amanda LaRusso, karate adjacent," Hee. Also, love her giggling at Johnny threatening to shove the ponytail straight up Silver's ass. I love that Robby is comfortable enough with Miguel and his dad to start teasing them. The dojo montage was nice, especially Johnny trying to tell the tale of the founding of Miyagi-do (you know Johnny loves that "strong wind, strong sake" story), and him and the German guy bonding over Rocky. It was also nice to see that Robby and Miguel agreed Hawk should fight. Not surprising that the ref was on Cobra Kai's side, though ridiculous in the girls' fight. Aw, we got a a Robby/Miguel hug and a Robby/Hawk hug! Hmm, I'd actually forgotten the octopus necklace until Sam found it. I was kind of hoping she'd be wearing it when she showed up to the party, but I didn't see it.
  12. "I can be monster." "I'm sure you make a great monster." Amanda talking to Chozen like, yes, you're a very intimidating karate assassin. Mitch had a good point sitting on the egg. I was expecting Demetri to trip from having no shoelace. Bert and Nate on the floating thing in the pond was smart. Good for Anthony for realizing that teamwork is the strategy. And it makes sense that he would come up with it given that he's been alone with no real friends when he's been really bullied. Devon and Tory bonding was good. Yeah, Kyler sucks as a leader, much as expected. It's much more believable that Young Silver is 5 years away from turning into Thomas Ian Griffith than that Young Kreese is 4 years from turning into Martin Kove. I think it's adorable that Young Kreese glommed onto Johnny at least in part for having the same name, when it is the most basic of names. They got me with the "No mercy, motherfucker" note. I really thought he had a lawyers number on there. I half-expected it to be Julie from Next Karate Kid.
  13. Johnny and Chozen together is beautiful. I like how their one-upmanship went from "I did this to Daniel" to "I saw Daniel do this badass thing." I liked how Johnny immediately wanted to jump into the dojo when he saw Devon was a student there. I loved Johnny's confusion and taking offense at being mistaken for Daniel. Seriously, though someone should've shown the senseis a picture of the guy or at least given a description including hair color. I was not expecting Young Johnny to be in the therapist chair. It looked pretty good, but it sounded choppy. I'm guessing they blended together some old audio. Daniel getting a reverse intervention to get him back into karate. I'm glad he and Robby talked and were able to heal things a little. That end scene was touching.
  14. Johnny took them to Olive Garden. Because "When you're here, you're family." I liked his escape room idea. Did he put that stuff up while Robby was in his room? He looked not at all surprised when he had to walk through those swinging cardboard doors. "This is just the plot of Young Guns 2." "Shit, you saw it?" "Yeah, with you!" And he got Yaya in on it! And he apparently speaks Spanish well enough to know she said she screwed up. I'm glad the fight wasn't an angry fight, but was just a "do this, get it over with" situation. I was with Johnny worrying when the fight went upstairs (he really couldn't have taken them to the park for this fight?), but I'm glad they fought and worked things out. I loved Johnny screwing up and telling them about the baby without Carmen, but I'm so glad they were excited and we even got a group hug out of it! Daniel has the stubble of depression. Johnny's right about him looking like shit. Johnny being the voice of reason proves how far he's gone. I appreciated that he needed to make amends with Stingray right away. But of course Silver was waiting for him there! I was not expecting to see Robyn Lively, let alone her to be Amanda's cousin. When the barroom brawl started, I was kind of hoping she'd use that one pottery-esque hold break Daniel showed her. I didn't realize Sam didn't know about Anthony getting bullied at the water park. It was nice to see them actually interact and talk like siblings. I didn't predict that Tory would be the one who put the note in their mailbox but it makes sense that she would've, since she has that connection with Amanda. I liked that she went to Kreese for help. He was always a good sensei to her.
  15. Carmen having an 80s video dream of reliable Johnny is proof they are perfect for each other. Anthony calling out Kyler picking on him when he's been to his house and dated his sister was funny. I appreciated that Eli and Tory were at least trying to maintain some level of civility in the karate war. How the water park will be able to kick out all the karate gangs, I don't know. There's no way all of them looked involved. Daniel makes it way too easy for Silver to get into his head. But crap, Amanda leaving and taking the kids is a huge step.
  16. "You are not at a blackjack table in Atlantic City! You cannot trash talk a karate assassin!" Anoush has been listening to Amanda describe Chozen obviously. "What did that giant Bond villain want?" I missed Anoush and didn't even know it. I love that Anthony explained how they did the milk prank that mystified his principal ("we put it in a bag and put it in his locker"). "Is this because another one of your boyfriends ran away?" It's nice to see Eli, Demetri and Miguel all hanging out again. The text conversation between them and their girlfriends was funny. I can't believe he was able to find an octopus necklace. And he just dropped it at the dojo? He could've gotten a refund for that! Or you know, handed it to her, "I already have nightmares about drowning in shallow bodies of water." I'm with Yasmin that that was dark, but I appreciate a good callback. In her vision I feel like the only reason Eli was in there saying "You're the girl who lost" was because they didn't want to pay Peyton List to be in the episode and wanted the confusion at the "Tory?-No-it's-Sith-Sam" reveal. "Mike fucking Barnes." Whoa, first time hearing Daniel-San drop an f-bomb. "That guy tried to kill me once. You don't forget or forgive something like that." Chozen sideeye. "Except you. You and I, we're good." Oh, a classic misunderstood one-sided phone call. Ha to calling Silver Mike's "ponytailed pimp." And the misunderstandings continue with Chozen. I loved Johnny's baby prep montage, although the roaches under the couch cushion might give me nightmares. I liked how giving Miguel advice helped him get his head straight about everything (as is the foundation of their relationship). I was really expecting Carmen to walk in and say she wasn't pregnant so I was happy that she is. Poor Mike Barnes is not a thought I expected to have.
  17. Ah, Chekov's Female Body Inspector shirts. Johnny is better at Spanish than I would've guessed, but to be fair, my expectations were at rock bottom. That reunion scene with Johnny and Miguel was beautiful. I think Robby looked concerned for Miguel when he was hugging his dad, which seemed like a big improvement over their prior relationship. If nothing else comes of the Hector storyline I'll be a little disappointed, but I am glad I don't have to watch Miguel staring at him trying to decide if he should say something or not. I was wondering what would be the tip off that Chozen was Team Miyagi Do. The casting for Young Sato was perfect.
  18. I am not ruling out the possibility that that is the wrong Hector. I liked that Australian robber had some scruples. He really did give Miguel correct directions, though we'll have to see if he did the same for Johnny, and I was as surprised as Miguel when he gave him his ones back. He also looks like a young Robin Williams, which might make me give him more leeway than I would otherwise. That being said, I'm still glad Johnny and Robby kicked his ass.
  19. Seriously, I wanted some fallout from that decision. And more proof that this was real in court. I mean, I know it was, but it doesn't seem admissible in court. The ending felt tacked on. The kiss between Mallory and Kate felt poorly timed. Like others, I thought they might kiss at the roller rink, then this ep I thought Kate might kiss her when she went for a hug, but now it seemed more out of place. I hate when shows have someone date their only friend.
  20. That fight between Kate and her mom was really well done. I believed her mom's motivation about being jealous of how well she reconnected with her dad, but you know - Dad didn't hit her and tell her to get out and maker her out to be a liar! Oh, Kate going over there by choice makes me wonder if it's possible that Jeanette really did misinterpret the situation when she saw Kate at Martin's.
  21. I like her SO much as Kate's friend. She seems like such a good friend and exactly what she needs and she and Oliva Holt have great chemistry.
  22. How could someone kill Paul Rudd? I could've sworn he was immortal!
  23. I really want Johnny to be there for this conversation and just be massively confused about Daniel’s relationship with Chozen. Like, “This guy tried to kill you twice, took your girlfriend hostage but now everything’s just fine? What the hell?!”
  24. So I'm rewatching some eps after seeing the season 5 trailer and I just noticed Sam's looking at The Outsiders before Tory calls her out on the intercom. Shout out to another great Macchio flick of the 80s.
