  1. I'm so glad she broke up with Gil. Although was it really ever truly more than a hookup? His "you'll regret this!" was so creepy. Points to the makeup department - Nancy looked rough. I liked Odette sticking up for George and saving her from an awkward situation. "I hate this house." "Yeah, that was a really inconveniently placed window." I love the lampshade hanging. I like that George was brave enough to propose to Nick, but that's still really soon, and he's basically gonna have to adopt three kids if they go forward with this. Ryan learning how to be a normal person who does dishes is beautiful. I look forward to the My Two Dads hijinks that will come from Ryan moving in. And what kind of supernatural series would it be if an evil entity wasn't unleased on the town?
  2. I love when I don't see a twist coming and then feel like an idiot for not seeing it. Well executed Celia twist. I liked how she was comforting to Nancy when she realized but had to move on. It's nice that some people don't stay trapped in this town forever after they die.
  3. Creepy premise. I liked it. Nancy yelling at Carson to stay away was really sad, but I loved how it was code and he knew her well enough to see it. I didn't suspect the reverend, though I had noticed her and generally thought "huh, does she only do scenes at the police station?" but didn't assume she was The Arbiter. I love that Great Aunt May just wanted to see what it was like to a tall, white man, and George just is like, okay, fair enough. I thought it was weird there was someone else doing the voice when Leah Lewis has been playing Odette. Maybe they recorded Alex Saxon saying "your face is as round as a mooncake" and were like "yeah, that doesn't sound right." George needs to stop keeping secrets from her friends.
  4. What is this timeline? Grant's been here a week?! "Because you heard that I've been called the Hero of Horseshoe Bay?" Well, with the way he was trying to protect the people on the WitSec list, he should be called that. It's nice to see some classic villain shenanigans with a hitman kidnapping Ace and creatively dangling him off a platform. Yep, very clear Nancy/Ace vibes and who could blame her? I love the reveal that George's sisters are hanging out with Odette. And the reveal to George about Odette and Bess.
  5. Maybe he got an upgrade from the Wakandans and Nebula got a great deal on the old one. That's what I'm imagining. This was so fun to watch. I yelled "Run, Kevin Bacon, run!" far more than is healthy. Love how happy Peter was to learn that Mantis is his sister. Loved how everyone came together to bring Christmas to Peter, love how Drax and Mantis absolutely did not understand that an abducted Terran was the last thing Peter would want as a present. loved the chemistry between Drax and Mantis, loved that Kevin Bacon wanted to stay after talking to Kraglin, and I love how Kraglin seemed to just really admire Peter's heroics. Altogether, it was completely chaotic and heartwarming, just as Guardians of the Galaxy should be. I want the soundtrack.
  6. Amnesiac Nick was really sweet. Tunji Kasim did a good job this episode, learning about his past. I'm glad we see Nancy's tour guide nemesis again, not happy he's dead. I got so excited when the rest of them went amnesiac. Nick and George being happy to be boyfriend and girlfriend is so cute, as was Bess learning she likes girls, and Ace's slight step back when she said it. "Sling shotting the steak knives at the entity did not work" - turns to Ace's bandaged leg. Nancy using the amnesia fan on Mrs. Hudson was cold! I'm glad she told her dad about what happened and that she invited him home. I'm glad she honored her amnesiac promise to Celia, and that she used that as proof Celia could trust her and it seemed to have worked at least to some degree. "This is a terrible podcast." I love Ace's honesty. And his relationship with his dad. I was really hoping he would tell his dad what he knew about his brother. I'm glad they finally confirmed Grant is the brother. I think this is the best episode ever.
  7. Kennedy McMann has pretty good comedy chops. Detective Tamrura's slow motion shot was my favorite since it just came out of nowhere, plus she literally asked if he was in slow motion, but Alex Saxon had good smolder during his bit. And of course, Nancy wants to touch Ace's hair like so many of us do.
  8. From 2x09 Bargain of the Blood Shroud: Nancy: One was picked, the rest were just bashed open, so we're looking for an experienced thief with a short attention span. Later Nancy: Mind if I do the honors? Gil: Be my guest. I do not have the patience. Nancy: I know. I have seen your work. Nick: So this thing that could kill you, it was just in your locker? George: It was locked in my locker. Nick: Oh, okay. But not in a bank or a safe.
  9. I love Ace and Nick being frustrated by the college girls. I think this really just emphasized the difference between our protagonists and normal young adults. It's nice to see them solve a normal mystery. I liked the girl and her conversation with Nancy, and that her teammates didn't seem bothered by her quitting the team and were just glad she was okay. I didn't think Bobbsey twin was being tricked when Nancy said she'd call in someone for the computer problems after she said the computer was password protected. I thought it was "ah, yes, wink, wink, of course your friend can work on the computer for the thing I just said I would help with if I could hack" two conversations at once thing.
  10. This was excellent. She had solid points. The coroner really took everything in stride afterward. My favorite exchange: Detective: That's not a real holiday Nancy: That's not a real necktie. Detective: Both of you get out of my office.
  11. I appreciate that Ryan vacuums his own car. Him and Carson bonding is the best. I like how Ryan's really trying and not understanding the healthy boundaries due to his own father. "I have a problem. I steal things when I feel bad" made me laugh more than I should have. I've been wondering if the ghost is really thinking its plan through. Like Nancy and Bess dying by falling and fire makes sense, but George and Nick were supposed to just drown in a truck on land and Ace is supposed to get impaled on a meat hook? No one's gonna find those deaths weird? I thought it was supposed to be a Final Destination-esque thing that makes all the supernatural deaths look like accidents, but those deaths would be super weird. I am so fine with Ace secretly being Joe Hardy, but I'm guessing with the Hulu series, he's probably not. I'm pretty sure possessed George is going to immediately go hit on the first Englishwoman she finds, so good thing she and Bess aren't related in this version.
  12. I love that Ryan knew Nancy sounded off. Good bonding between Ryan and Carson. I liked his joy at solving the music cipher before Nancy. It George's reaction to Nick telling her he loves her was great. I too would watch Nancy argue with tour groups. I'd love to see the "It's the true crime lady!" guy in the future as a fan of Nancy's work.
  13. Ace's response to his dad's understanding and "I'll see you next week" was so sweet. Just immediately wanting to spend his limited time with his dad, upcoming ghost murder be damned. I loved the confrontation with the detective and the way his dad stuck up for him. "Listen, you walking haircut!" - How dare you?! He has a brain and heart beneath that wonderful haircut! The supernatural elements on this show don't generally scare me, but the dozens of ghost hands coming from the walls was freaky. Contrarily, I feel like when the spirit thing looks at us at the end of the episode, unseen by the Drew Crew, it's totally trying to say something like "Can you believe these idiots?"
  14. Just getting around to season 2 of this ridiculous show now that I've checked out the DVDs from the library. I completely missed the names of the twins until someone said "The Bobbsey twins are hardcore" and even then it took me a second to realize that was their actual name, not a reference to that series existing in the Nancy Drew 'verse. I've loved Alex Saxon since he was the lone bright spot on Finding Carter and can't blame the show for putting anyone with Ace. He's just a great guy.
  15. "Soon we'll see..." I was so excited to see Leslie Odom Jr. And I got some late season The Office vibes with the talk of the camera crew. I loved Ava's. "I thought it was one of them! Like you can tell these moderately attractive white guys with beards apart!" When they brought up the ads, I figured the documentary or series about the school was being released. I can see why Janine likes Tariq. He is nice, happy, and not 100% useless. He paid his 20% of the rent, would chaperone field trips, dropped Janine off before borrowing the car, and seems to genuinely like doing the anti-drug performances for schools. Sure Janine's way too good for him, but it's refreshing to see the boyfriend we know is bad for her be just a leech instead of a genuinely bad person.
  16. I got Gregory's costume. I legitimately thought Janine was a child when we first saw her. And Quinta Brunson looked really nice in cornrows. Loved the Scarlet Witch and Storm costumes. I love the commitment to the Baby Thanos bit.
  17. Watching the "Paranormal Rangers" episode and I totally want a Navajo X-Files series now. There's a gap in my "let's drive around and investigate the supernatural" with Supernatural off the air. I also really liked how this one did what I feel like classic Unsolved Mysteries did with their best paranormal stories - sharing information and human experiences along with getting some cultural and folklore. The Buffalo Jim thing seems most likely an overdose. I think the daughters are reading way too much into the single dollar as a mob thing, but then again, I'm not well-versed in mob tactics.
  18. That was good. I liked seeing a Maggie-centric segment, the anime was gorgeous, and the self-referential nostalgia was great.
  19. "And I'm done talking about your breasts." Which sounded more like Josh Lyman than Commander Lawrence, which I have absolutely no problem with. I didn't trust that end at all. I'm expecting a raid to go horribly, horribly wrong. They had a plane sound and I was like "someone's going to drop bombs on these children.
  20. June had a moment when she was holding the child and had a crazy smile where I think she was totally thinking of killing that baby in front of Serena before she clicked back into herself and sincerely told Serena he was perfect. I liked the simplicity of "Why didn't you kill me?" "I didn't want to." "At last she knows what it feels like." I mean, I see where Luke's coming from, but that was really dark. It felt like an "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy" situation, which seemed to be how June felt.
  21. McKenna Grace needs an Emmy. And then she needs to be in something that stresses me out less. Another Ghostbusters would be acceptable. Aunt Lydia's got such a weird, fascinating twisting of her beliefs. I believe her sincerity about trying to make things better for the girls, and how much she cares about Janine, yet she's the cause of so much of their pain and doesn't/refuses to get it through her head that she's being a hypocrite. Luke asking June how her butt was made me laugh. Yeah, they're setting us up for disaster trying to make them a loving, functional couple. The phrasing of Putnam's charge as "The rapе of unassigned property" is deeply disturbing, but surprisingly honest. Also surprisingly honest to me was Mrs. Putnam's exasperated "why, what did you do?" when discussing everyone staring at them at the restaurant right before.
  22. I liked bowling alley guy. He reminded me of Timothee Chalamet. Who I was sure was doomed as soon as he told Luke his name since "names are dangerous." That was a good stunt, the way he spun around. "Whatever you want to do, that's all right with me - and also, I don't have much choice." That's a man who understands the relationship he's in.
  23. My main thought on the episode: No cover of "The Chain" will ever be as good as the original. Don't try.
  24. Reading the things above complicates the Tiffany case more, but I wouldn't say I'm convinced it was suicide. The theft and stressful situations beforehand seem as much like potential suicide impetuses as they do lead up to murder. And the CPS report makes me not rule out the mom either.
