I think that was a comment on Only Fans and the people who have lost their day jobs after been exposed and shamed for doing sex work. This was a great episode! I chuckled when I realized they were slowing Amanda’s service speed and inserting ads- all the annoyance of subscription service, but then the medical debt leading to bankruptcy part became very dark and sad. I noticed there was no mention of Rivermind being covered by health insurance, but perhaps they didn’t want to directly address that can of worms. It was definitely interesting watching this right after Luigi Mangione was indicted.

Totally agree on the unrealistic lack of cameras. If they were living on some old estates, I’d understand, but most of the homes look like large fancy new builds where I’d assume cameras would be integrated into the security system.

S01.E01: This Is What Happens
MCMLXXVII replied to Snazzy Daisy's topic in Your Friends And Neighbors
Yup, and it’s very MM season 4 post-divorce coded. Ex-wife is seemingly happy with a new guy, he’s seeing the kids part time, living in lesser circumstances, still having somewhat illicit relationships even though he’s single. -
S01.E01: This Is What Happens

I really liked episode 1! I was a huge Mad Men fan, so the current-day Don Draperness of the character appeals to me. Looking forward to more. -
There’s a docuseries streaming March 4 on Showtime/Paramont Plus “Sin City Gigolo:A Murder in Las Vegas” on Ash’s case.

GND has been free on Prime (even without a Prime subscription) for the last few weeks, it’s a replay channel so you can’t pause or rewind so I’ve been dropping in on random episodes. They also had Kendra and Holly’s World. I just rewatched 3:1 when they’re at the opening of the Vegas Playboy Club in The Palms. It’s such a fascinating time capsule almost 20 years later- so much Ed Hardy!😅

I was shocked to learn that she dated Nick Hogan! Is she from the same area of Florida? Then she was married to Johnny Manziel…such a random roster of famous men when you add in Nick Cannon. I’m surprised no one ever asked her about Mariah and if her son has any interaction with his half-siblings. I have a theory that some of Nick’s baby mamas must sign up thinking they’ll have Mariah access.

Love May Be Blind, But the Media Sees All
MCMLXXVII replied to Jane Tuesday's topic in Love Is Blind
Good for her, but not surprised.😊 My gaydar is working well. -
I saw that it’s now on Netflix, so maybe it will get a bigger audience.

Glad this topic popped up, I met Law Roach on Sunday night for his book/speaking tour! Got my book signed and took a photo. Love him and his energy. want to go back and rewatch now, I never finished the show.

I feel like Brittany is cosplaying Pam Anderson between the voice and the looks, and the “I only date musicians, athletes, a rich men”. 😂 She’s beautiful, but in a very specific 90s Playboy way that makes her seem older to me.

Agreed! He needs a kick in the nuts.

I finally finished this series the other day. I remember Carol Shaya being a huge deal in NYC media (somehow I had her named mixed up in my head with politician Donna Shalala)😂. I was an avid Howard Stern listener at the time and he must have had her on and definitely discussed the situation. I’m very pro-sex work in general, but I do side-eye women in conservative (especially male dominated) fields like police/military splitting hairs about how “technically” there was no rule against posing nude. 🙄 Ok fine, but read the room ladies. You knew the “company culture” and wanted the notoriety of being in Playboy- not just the hottest woman in their workplace. Maybe they believed Hef’s line about being the girl next door and they could just go back to their regular jobs, but eh…

I thought that was the hotel clerk cleaned up nice at first, but then realized it must have been the yacht stewardess Charles had in Yas’s room. If Charles preferred 12 and up, I’d think that’s a bit old for Yasmin to have totally blocked it out, but I definitely see him as super inappropriate “cool dad” hitting on her friends, letting them drink and drug, and having a general lack of boundaries. Also, there’s something to be said for “I knew your dad was predator since college”…but yet Lord Mack is still associating with him? 😬Sadly true how other rich powerful people don’t feel the need to weed out predators in their midst. Not that pee is that uncommon of a fetish, but I guess now Henry doesn’t have to convince another woman to do it with his cringey “I am not a pervert” speech.😂

This is surprising now that I’m watching 3:8, it’s definitely written like a series finale. Also, it wasn’t even hyped as a season finale, HBO usually tells us “now, the season finale of ____”

S01.E19: April is the Cruelest Month
MCMLXXVII replied to Primetimer's topic in Beverly Hills, 90210
I’m watching the Monster: Menendez brothers on Netflix and it JUST NOW 33 years later occurs to me that Roger Azarian was a Lyle Menendez stand-in! Right down to the tennis playing! And the script writing! 🤯🤯🤯 I didn’t know about the brothers until the trial in 1993, but L.A. tv writers would have been well aware of the 1989 murders. Kind of dark for a teen drama. -
Also, what in the latex domme outfit is Chelsea wearing in her talking heads? 😅 She’s a gorgeous Naomi Campbell-adjacent woman. I don’t know what the styling is about aside from reality TV drama.

I hated Tonia and the rest of the chimp owners, they’re like modern day slave traders/ slave owners locking our closest animal cousins in cages.

I should give it a listen, I always liked Brande as I started paying attention to Playboy during the Brande/Sandy/Mandy years. Brande always seemed like a pleasant person, and her and the Bentleys had more of a natural beauty than all the Marilyn/ later-era Pam copy pastes we got during the era of the 7. ETA- Ok, so I guess Tina Jordan was one of the “Mean Girls”. 🕵🏽Bridget mentions one of the mean girls had a day off from staying at the mansion because she had a child and Tina was the only one of the 7 that I can recall was a mother during that time.

The C-Word has had a positive revival in the past three years in the U.S. due to the drag community. You can look up “c*nty” on Urban Dictionary and it means fierce or “bad-bitch” esque. A few of my favorite podcasters use it, but it’s not for use in everyday corporate settings, and I wouldn’t take it as a positive used by straight people.

Speaking of indoctrination, has anyone else been watching Bama rush (University of Alabama sorority rush) video this week? A few of them do a partial DCC Thunderstruck routine in their promo videos, and the values and extreme performance of Southern femininity (for lack of a better term) are pretty much one and the same. I highly recommend.😊

I think Rob and Harper are maybe a British vs American take on “striving”. Harper went to a state school, kind of Gatsbyed herself into this job and enjoys the comforts…but she’s brilliant and a hustler and can always reinvent herself. Rob grew up in the British class system and is a working class kid who went to Oxford and very much wants to stay among the upper classes. Maybe he’s got a lack of confidence/imposter syndrome that makes him tolerate their bad treatment.
